The study focuses on the three main types of the image of PR manager - self-image, perceived image and professional image. Its purpose is to identify all the image attributes needed for a position of PR manager. In the theoretical part, image is defined as the combination of both external and internal reflections of an individual, object or company creating values and awareness. The research part is the application of theoretical principles in the practical operations of three PR managers from the insurance sector and four PR managers from the bank sector. Research is in the form of an 8-question structured interview and qualitative response analyses. The result of the issue is an empirical assessment of the gathered information, studied literature and research. In self-image description the managers describe themselves as creative, systematic, reliable, extrovert, social with excellent communication skills. The perceived image of PR managers requires responsibility, friendliness, helpfulness, politeness and empathy. The professional image of PR managers requires a professional dress code, responsibility, creativity, excellent communication skills, openness to new ideas and experiences. Primary analytical and organizational attributes are considered as an advantage in the profession of PR manager as well.

Opis:
We propose a high-quality infrared and visible image fusion method based on a deep wavelet-dense network (WT-DenseNet). The WT-DenseNet includes three network layers, the hybrid feature extraction layer, fusion layer, and image reconstruction layer. The hybrid feature extraction layer is composed of a wavelet and dense network. The wavelet network decomposes the feature map of the visible and infrared images into low-frequency and high-frequency components, respectively. The dense network extracts the salient features. A fusion layer is designed to integrate low-frequency and salient features. Finally, the fusion images are outputted by an image reconstruction layer. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method can realize high-quality infrared and visible image fusions, and the performance of the proposed method is better than that of the six recently published fusion methods in terms of contrast and detail performance.

This paper is concerned with high temperature image quantitative analysis systems. Particular attention is paid to computerised system for surface properties (wetting angle and surface tension) determination. A brief description of the system is given. The specificity of the performed measurements based on images presenting heat-emitting objects is considered. Moreover, the significance of optical filters’ usage is explained. Infrared and neutral density filters are regarded. Influence of these filters on digital image quality is deliberated. Especially image noise presence is considered. The detailed analysis of noise properties change due filters usage is carried out. Finally, results of the analysis are presented and discussed.

I analyse five forms of images: electronic, digital, interactive, networked and living, all of which challenge traditional descriptions and expectations. I analyse them from the technical-ontological, phenomenological and cultural perspective to demonstrate different ways in which they discuss and deconstruct the notion of an image. Finally, I try to propose a new context for understanding the discussed forms of new imagery, i.e. the context of post-imagery.
Analizuję w artykule pięć form obrazu – elektroniczny, cyfrowy, interaktywny, usieciowiony i żyjący – wykazując, że wszystkie one stanowią wyzwanie dla tradycyjnego rozumienia obrazu. Analizuję je z perspektywy techniczno-ontologicznej, fenomenologicznej i kulturowej aby pokazać, w jak różny sposób każdy ze wskazanych typów obrazowości kwestionuje i dekonstruuje dotychczasowe pojęcie obrazu. Na zakończenie proponuję nowy kontekst dla rozumienia dyskutowanych tu form obrazowości – kontekst postobrazowości.

Opis:
Modeling the image of a teacher of higher education is an integral part of the development of modern pedagogical imageology, which is being formed as an interdisciplinary direction. In our study, we analyzed the modern scientific experience devoted to the study of the image of a teacher of higher education. This made it possible to determine the current state of the views of researchers who worked in this direction. The purpose of the article is to highlight the results of research on the content and structure of the image of a teacher of higher education. Summarizing the views of different authors, we formed a general idea of the content of the category of the image of a teacher of higher education, identified the components of the image of a teacher of higher education, identified general characteristics of the image of a teacher of higher education from different positions, components of the image of a teacher of higher education. This allowed us to define the category of the image of a teacher of higher education and to propose an author’s model of systematic description of the image of a teacher of higher education, which is an attempt to find a connection between the components of the image of a teacher of higher education and the environment in which this image is formed. The general components of this model include: determination of the image of a teacher of higher education (sociopsychological aspect, acmeological aspect, activity aspect); bearer of the image of a teacher of higher education; the context of interaction between the bearer of the image and the recipient of the image of a teacher of higher education; symbolic space formed by the bearer of the image of a teacher of higher education; nature of interaction (subject-subject interaction / subject-object interaction); process, forms, types, means of communication; recipient of the image of a teacher of higher education determination of obtaining and accepting the image of a teacher of higher education (activity aspect, acmeological aspect, socio-psychological aspect). Author’s definitions of these categories are given.

The paper presents new methods for estimating effective coverage of the image databases in spatial information (SI) vs. colorfulness (CF) space. Existing and commonly used metrics are vulnerable to databases containing very different images in terms of SI and CF, which can maximize the relative ranges, while preserving, in specific cases, high uniformity. The area covered by convex hull created on SI × CF space can be large, but the interior of the convex envelope might be poorly filled. To overcome this flaw, a fill factor is proposed, which determines how well the convex hull area is utilized. In the paper the method is described in details and presented on a few existing databases, as well as on artificial, non-existing databases to prove its robustness in different scenarios. Provided results show that new metric is closer to the actual coverage than existing methods.

Super-resolution image reconstruction utilizes two algorithms, where one is for single-frame image reconstruction, and the other is for multi-frame image reconstruction. Singleframe image reconstruction generally takes the first degradation and is followed by reconstruction, which essentially creates a problem of insufficient characterization. Multi-frame images provide additional information for image reconstruction relative to single frame images due to the slight differences between sequential frames. However, the existing super-resolution algorithm for multi-frame images do not take advantage of this key factor, either because of loose structure and complexity, or because the individual frames are restored poorly. This paper proposes a new SR reconstruction algorithm for images using Multi-grained Cascade Forest. Multi-frame image reconstruction is processed sequentially. Firstly, the image registration algorithm uses a convolutional neural network to register low-resolution image sequences, and then the images are reconstructed after registration by the Multi-grained Cascade Forest reconstruction algorithm. Finally, the reconstructed images are fused. The optimal algorithm is selected for each step to get the most out of the details and tightly connect the internal logic of each sequential step. This novel approach proposed in this paper, in which the depth of the cascade forest is procedurally generated for recovered images, rather than being a constant. After training each layer, the recovered image is automatically evaluated, and new layers are constructed for training until an optimal restored image is obtained. Experiments show that this method improves the quality of image reconstruction while preserving the details of the image.

Opis:
Large-scale image repositories are challenging to perform queries based on the content of the images. The paper proposes a novel, nested-dictionary data structure for indexing image local features. The method transforms image local feature vectors into two-level hashes and builds an index of the content of the images in the database. The algorithm can be used in database management systems. We implemented it with an example image descriptor and deployed in a relational database. We performed the experiments on two image large benchmark datasets.

The following is a proposition paper whose purpose is to try to provide a solid theoretical (modelling) background for research on image generation and image maintenance. As such, it is intentionally devoid of any experimental/empirical findings. And although we agree that model-reasoning is difficult to observe, we nevertheless utterly agree with Rosenblueth and Wiener’s stance according to which ‘scientific knowledge consists of a sequence of abstract models, preferably formal, occasionally material in nature (Rosenblueth/Wiener, 1945,320), who further also stated that ‘the ideal model would be one which would cover the entire universe’ (Rosenblueth/Wiener, 1945,320). We are, of course, convinced that material substance can and should be provided later on as research continues to accrue with reference to the model(s) proposed.General assumptions which are put forth in the paper are the following:1. image is pervasive in nature; in fact, in humans it is more pervasive than language. This is due to the fact that the visual-tactile modality is of fundamental significance in the daily conduct of the human species (see e.g. Fletcher, 1952; Pirenne, 1967; Schiffman, 1982; Gordon, 1989; Sekuler/Blake, 1994).2. Owing to its pervasiveness, image may be approached holistically, that is, it may be likened to life, especially to its exteriorization within the bounds of the material and perceiving/acting human body.3. The paper is based on some general theoretical orientations which may be summarized as the following:– material positivism: within this orientation, the subject matter of research is the universal occurrence of embodiment/entitiation and its consequences, dialectical constructivism: within this orientation, a human agent as an embodied entity/organism is assumed to be involved in a continuous process of constructing and changing images.

Opis:
Acceptance of irreversible image compression applicable to medical imagery is controversial in the medical community. The influence of this irreversible process on degradation of diagnostic image features is considered and how to preserve diagnostic accuracy. Fears, doubts, the disadvantages of the data distortion process and the advantages of safe and efficient irreversible compression for image information storage and interchange are discussed. The effects of compression on various image exams are analysed. The conclusion is that irreversible compression is not to be afraid of, but its characteristics should be well understood before implementing it in current practice.

Aim. The subject of this work is reduction of architecture complexity to particular image, deprived of its context and time. The author aims to present the problem of perceiving architecture through visual experience only. Methods. The author of the article describes the process of reduction basing on example of iconic sacred building – Church if the Light, designed by Japanese architect Tadao Ando.  The analysis of all stages of transformation and reinterpretation of original complex design is conducted. The aim is to  indicate how misrepresentation of design and reduction to particular image was transferred to architecture once again. Results and Conclusion.  The essential conclusion of the article is the impact and power of image culture. The author of the article indicates how contemporary world of pictures influences human perception of space and limit it to one sense – sight.

Niniejszy artykuł omawia aktualne możliwości automatyzacji procesu przetwarzania danych obrazowych na przykładzie wykorzystania programu PhotoScan firmy Agisoft. Obecnie dla tworzenia produktów fotogrametrycznych wykorzystuje się dane obrazowe pozyskiwane różnymi systemami rejestracji (kamery pomiarowe, niemetryczne) umieszczonymi na samolotach, satelitach czy coraz częściej na systemach UAV. Wykonuje się wielokrotne rejestracje obiektu (obszaru terenu) w celu wyeliminowania zjawiska martwych pół oraz dla podniesienia finalnej dokładności opracowania fotogrametrycznego - w efekcie tworzone są duże zespoły zdjęć. Geometria tak powstałych zespołów (bloków) zdjęć znacznie odbiega od standardowej konfiguracji zdjęć. Dla szybkiego odtworzenia orientacji zewnętrzne zdjęć w takim bloku wykorzystuje się obecnie automatyczne algorytmy dopasowania obrazów. Mogą one tworzyć model bloku w układzie lokalnym lub zewnętrznym układzie odniesienia wykorzystując dodatkowe dane w postaci pomierzonych środków rzutów oraz punktów osnowy terenowej (fotopunkty). W przypadku opracowania zdjęć niemetrycznych na tym etapie możliwym jest przeprowadzenie procesu samokalibracji. Algorytm dopasowania obrazów jest również wykorzystany w kolejnym kroku do generowania gęstej chmury punktów rekonstruującej kształt przestrzenny obiektu (obszaru). W kolejnych krokach przetwarzania mogą powstać standardowe produkty fotogrametryczne w postaci ortomozaiki, NMT lub NMPT oraz fotorealistycznego modelu bryły obiektu (terenu). szystkie wymienione kroki przetwarzania są realizowane w jednym programie, a nie jak to jest w standardowych oprogramowaniach komercyjnych w wielu modułach programowych. Dla określonego zestawu rejestracyjnego cały proces przetwarzania zdjęć na georeferencyjne produkty finalne może odbywać się w pełni automatycznie (wsadowo) poprzez sekwencyjne realizację ustalonych kroków przetwarzania przy wcześniej ustalonych parametrach sterujących. W artykule prezentowane będą praktyczne rezultaty zastosowania analizowanego programu dla całkowicie automatycznego generowania ortomozaiki zarówno z bloku standardowych zdjęć metrycznych wykonanych kamerą Vexcel jak również bloku zdjęć niemetrycznych pozyskanych systemem UAV.
This article discusses the current capabilities of automate processing of the image data on the example of using PhotoScan software by Agisoft. At present, image data obtained by various registration systems (metric and non-metric cameras) placed on airplanes, satellites, or more often on UAVs is used to create photogrammetric products. Multiple registrations of object or land area (large groups of photos are captured) are usually performed in order to eliminate obscured area as well as to raise the final accuracy of the photogrammetric product. Because of such a situation the geometry of the resulting image blocks is far from the typical configuration of images. For fast images georeferencing automatic image matching algorithms are currently applied. They can create a model of a block in the local coordinate system or using initial exterior orientation and measured control points can provide image georeference in an external reference frame. In the case of non-metric image application, it is also possible to carry out self-calibration process at this stage. Image matching algorithm is also used in generation of dense point clouds reconstructing spatial shape of the object (area). In subsequent processing steps it is possible to obtain typical photogrammetric products such as orthomosaic, DSM or DTM and a photorealistic solid model of an object. All aforementioned processing steps are implemented in a single program in contrary to standard commercial software dividing all steps into dedicated modules. Image processing leading to final georeferenced products can be fully automated including sequential implementation of the processing steps at predetermined control parameters. The paper presents the practical results of the application fully automatic generation of othomosaic for both images obtained by a metric Vexell camera and a block of images acquired by a non-metric UAV system.

Opis:
Due to growing demand for ground-truth in deep learning-based remote sensing satellite image fusion, numerous approaches have been presented. Of these approaches, Wald’s protocol is the most commonly used. In this paper, a new workflow is proposed consisting of two main parts. The first part targets obtaining the ground-truth images using the results of a pre-designed and well-tested hybrid traditional fusion method. This method combines the Gram–Schmidt and curvelet transform techniques to generate accurate and reliable fusion results. The second part focuses on the training of a proposed deep learning model using rich and informative data provided by the first stage to improve the fusion performance. The demonstrated deep learning model relies on a series of residual dense blocks to enhance network depth and facilitate the effective feature learning process. These blocks are designed to capture both low-level and high-level information, enabling the model to extract intricate details and meaningful features from the input data. The performance evaluation of the proposed model is carried out using seven metrics such as peak-signal-to-noise-ratio and quality without reference. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed approach outperforms state-of-the-art methods in terms of image quality. It also exhibits the robustness and powerful nature of the proposed approach which has the potential to be applied to many remote sensing applications in agriculture, environmental monitoring, and change detection.

The article analyzes certain results of a nationwide survey-Poles and Others-30 years on-conducted in June 2018. Focusing on how the English are envisioned in contemporary Polish society, we aim to prove that the conceptual category of “stereotype” should be replaced by a more complex one-“image” or “ethnic image.” A striking feature is the rich and diverse description that the image of the English encompasses, hence interpretation of its complexity comprises the bulk of our considerations. Specific components of this ethnic image are seen as an outcome of direct and indirect interethnic contact: a consequence of migrations as well as progressively modernized, technological possibilities for interpersonal interactions. Interestingly, despite the image changing, the social distance towards Britons has not changed: the English continue to be perceived by Poles as one of the “closest” European peoples.

The paper presents two methods of prior JPEG-compression detection. In the first method the histogram of chrominance is analysed. In JPEG-compressed images the histogram contains significantly more local maxima than in uncompressed files. The second method is based on neighbouring pixel Ø value difference. In JPEG-compressed image the distribution of these values is different than the distribution counted on the edges of compression 8x8 blocks. These differences are summed up to create a classifier that allows to assess if the image was compressed.

This paper presents a newly designed stereoscopic video quality metric. Overall insights towards the creation of mechanisms utilized within the genuine metric are presented herein. Delivery of the core information and motivation behind the features implemented, as well as functionality of the Compressed Average Image Intensity (CAII) quality metric are of utmost importance. The mechanisms created might be characterized as an objective, reliable and versatile quality evaluation tool for advanced analysis of the content delivery chain within stereoscopic video services.

Imagia. Towards a neurocognitive theory of image (Francuz, 2013) defines art perception as a synthesis between acts of perception and visual imagination limited by attentional constraints. The majority of empirical evidence the author referred to in the book focuses on visual processing, attention, and aesthetic judgements. Nevertheless, other mechanisms involved in the subjective experience formation undoubtedly also plays a role in the perception of art. Thus, it seems worth complementing the fundaments of the neurocognitive theory of image with consciousness literature. The research in this domain often reminds us that we see much more than is presented. Our conscious perception is modified, extended, and enriched due to multiple mechanisms, such as prediction, integration, or learning. Here, I review selected examples of work from the consciousness literature to illustrate this claim. Furthermore, I discuss this work in the context of art perception. Finally, I reconstruct the model proposed by Francuz and offer its extension that accounts for the aspects covered by the original work and those addressed in this paper.

The aim of this article is to signal the possible relationships between the simultaneous interpreter and the image in its widest sense. In this communicative situation, attention is first paid to the text of the oral presentation, the meaning of which is conveyed by the interpreter. However, this meaning is also made up of visual elements that the interpreter faces and which make the interpretation inter-semiotic and multimodal. Three different types of simultaneous interpreter/image relationships will be outlined: firstly, the whole interpreting communicative situation can become an image if remote interpretation is necessary, secondly, it is the speaker who can be understood as an image, thirdly, the speaker can refer to previously prepared images. Then, by means of a pilot study, it will be checked whether and how experienced simultaneous interpreters relate the speaker to the picture when the picture presented is not redundant with what is being said, but complements the speech. The main question is whether and how it will be verbalized. Possible ways of extending the study will also be discussed.

This article is concerned with the relationship between adult attachment styles and generalized negativistic social beliefs (i.e. pessimistic expectations concerning human nature and interpersonal relations). Two general dimensions of attachment styles, avoidance and anxiety, are considered to be manifestations of an individual’s image of other people and of the self, respectively. We suggest that both dimensions may be a substantial basis for formulating negative beliefs about the social world. Firstly, we believe that a high level of negativistic social beliefs can be positively predicted by the growth of avoidance (negative image of others) and anxiety (negative image of self). Secondly, we formulate an expected interaction effect. Although the nature of such an interaction is ambiguous, it may be argued as having a synergistic as well as antagonistic pattern. These hypotheses were tested and supported (in favor of an antagonistic pattern of interaction in the case of the second hypothesis) on a representative sample of adult Poles (N = 853).
