Opis:
This paper presents research on the deposition of an indium tin oxide (ITO) layer which may act as a recombination layer in a silicon/perovskite tandem solar cell. ITO was deposited by magnetron sputtering on a highly porous surface of silicon etched by the metal-assisted etching method (MAE) for texturing as nano and microwires. The homogeneity of the ITO layer and the degree of coverage of the silicon wires were assessed using electron microscopy imaging techniques. The quality of the deposited layer was specified, and problems related to both the presence of a porous substrate and the deposition method were determined. The presence of a characteristic structure of the deposited ITO layer resembling a "match" in shape was demonstrated. Due to the specificity of the porous layer of silicon wires, the ITO layer should not exceed 80 nm. Additionally, to avoid differences in ITO thickness at the top and base of the silicon wire, the layer should be no thicker than 40 nm for the given deposition parameters.

Opis:
Effects of temperature variation on the performance of silicon heterojunction solar cells are studied using opto-electrical simulations. It is shown that the low-temperature cell efficiency is determined by the fill factor, while at high temperatures it depends on the open-circuit voltage. Simulations revealed that the low-temperature drop in the fill factor is caused by poor tunnelling, in particular at the ITO/p-a-Si:H heterojunction. The authors link this drop in fill factor to a low maximum-power-point voltage and show how poor tunnelling is reflected in the charge redistribution determining the device voltage. The effect of the contact work function on temperature behaviour of efficiency by varying the electron affinity of ITO layers has been demonstrated. It was also demonstrated that increasing the electron affinity of ITO on the p-side minimises the work function mismatch, leading to significant improvements in efficiency, especially at low temperatures, while optimisation on the n-side results in maginal improvements over the entire temperature range. In addition to the cumulative effects of the temperature-dependent parameters, their individual contributions to the efficiency were also investigated. Moreover, it was presented that the thermal energy (kT) determines the efficiency temperature behaviour, while other parameters play only a minor role. This paper shows how temperature variations affect device performance parameters.

Opis:
The influence of pure and mixed culture of A. ferrooxidans and A. tiooxidans as well as different pulp density (1 and 2%) of LCD panels on the In and Sn bioleaching efficiency was investigated. Pulp density is one of the factors affecting the metals extraction efficiency during biological leaching. It has been shown that lower pulp density results in higher indium and tin dissolution. The A. ferrooxidans bioleaching system showed better metal extraction results than A. thiooxidans, especially for tin, indicating the special role of iron and A. ferrooxidans in tin recovery. The highest leaching rate of both indium (94.7%) and tin (98.2%) was obtained using iron and sulfur medium inoculated with mixed bacteria and a pulp density of 1% w/v.

The article deals with the topic of translucency in architecture on the example of contemporary architectural objects in the context of Japanese culture. Based on Jun’ichirō Tanizaki’s theoretical assumptions, such as the contrast between eastern and western sensibilities and aesthetics, the author attempts to find confirmation of Tanizaki’s theory in contemporary Japanese projects in which translucency was used.

Opis:
The present research work involves the study of the 3-D surface microtexture of sputtered indium tin oxide (ITO) prepared on glass substrates by DC magnetron at room temperature. The samples were annealed at 450°C in air and were distributed into five groups, dependent on ambient combinations applied, as follows: I group, using argon (Ar); II group, using argon with oxygen (Ar+O2); III group, using argon with oxygen and nitrogen (Ar+O2+N2); IV group, using argon with oxygen and hydrogen (Ar+O2+H2); and V group, using argon with oxygen, nitrogen, and hydrogen (Ar+O2+N2+H2). The characterization of the ITO thin film surface microtexture was carried out by atomic force microscopy (AFM). The AFM images were stereometrically quantitatively analyzed to obtain statistical parameters, by ISO 25178-2: 2012 and ASME B46.1-2009. The results have shown that the 3-D surface microtexture parameters change in accordance with different fabrication ambient combinations.

Research Objective: The aim of this article is to shed light on the religious inspirations that underpin Ignatian Pedagogy. The research problem and methods:The research problems involve questions concerning the most important ideas of Ignatian spirituality, which are based on the existential experience of St. Ignatius Loyola, and which are a source of inspiration for Ignatian Pedagogy. Based on the literature, the fundamental ideas of Ignatian Spirituality and their influence on the emergence and development of Ignatian Pedagogy were analysed. The process of argumentation:Starting from the historical stages of the formation of the key elements of Jesuit spirituality, the key moments of the spiritual experience of St Ignatius of Loyola are shown. The interpretation of the tenets of the Ignatian tradition and its spirituality made it possible to identify the vital ideas that constitute the sources of Ignatian Pedagogy. Research results:The analysis leads to the conclusion that the modern concept of education should be built on the proper concept of the human being. One of the proposals is the concept of a person that we find in Ignatian Pedagogy. It is inspired by Ignatian Spirituality and describes humanity in the perspective of God’s creative act and His love. In this context, the issues of individuality and freedom of each person are especially important.  Conclusions, innovations and recommendations: Human existence in the changing and globalised world means a constant need to respond to change. Therefore, education should be understood as the familiarisation of students with change, which is a necessary condition for their development and thus for the progress of society. The Ignatian Pedagogy is effective in this regard, as it assumes an all-round development of a person and involves another person,  an educator/mentor, who acts as a kind of witness to the ongoing history of life.  
Cel naukowy: Celem niniejszego artykułu jest ukazania religijnych inspiracji, jakie legły u podstaw pedagogiki ignacjańskiej. Problem i metody badawcze:Problemami badawczymi były pytania dotyczące najważniejszych idei, które znajdują się w duchowości ignacjańskiej, bazującej na doświadczeniu egzystencjalnym św. Ignacego Loyoli, a które stanowią źródło inspiracji dla pedagogiki ignacjańskiej. Bazując na literaturze przedmiotu, analizowane był podstawowe idee duchowości ignacjańskiej i ich wpływ na powstanie i rozwój pedagogiki ignacjańskiej. Proces wywodu:Wychodząc od historycznych etapów kształtowania się kluczowych elementów duchowości jezuickiej, ukazane zostały kluczowe momenty doświadczenia duchowego, jakie miał św. Ignacy z Loyoli. Interpretacja założeń tradycji ignacjańskiej i wiążącej się z nią duchowości umożliwiła wskazanie najważniejszych idei, które stanowią źródła pedagogiki ignacjańskiej. Wyniki analizy naukowej:Przeprowadzona analiza prowadzi do wniosku, że współczesna koncepcji edukacji powinna być budowana na właściwej koncepcji człowieka. Jedną z propozycji jest koncepcja człowieka, jaką odnajdujemy w pedagogice ignacjańskiej. Koncepcja ta inspiruje się duchowością ignacjańską i opisuje człowieka w perspektywie aktu stwórczego Boga i Jego miłości. W tym kontekście szczególnie istotne są kwestie dotyczące indywidualności i wolności każdej osoby. Wnioski, innowacje, rekomendacje:Funkcjonowanie człowieka w zmieniającym się i zglobalizowanym świecie oznacza nieustanną konieczność do reagowania na zmiany. W związku z tym edukacja powinna być rozumiana jako oswajanie człowieka ze zmianą, co stanowi konieczny warunek jego rozwoju, a tym samym postępu społeczeństwa. Skuteczna w tym względzie jest pedagogika ignacjańska, która zakłada wszechstronny rozwój człowieka i stawia obok niego drugą osobę – wychowawcę/mentora pełniącego funkcję swego rodzaju świadka toczącej się historii życia.

Opis:
The article presents the method of magnetron sputtering for the deposition of conductive emitter coatings in semiconductor structures. The layers were applied to a silicon substrate. For optical investigations, borosilicate glasses were used. The obtained layers were subjected to both optical and electrical characterisation, as well as structural investigations. The layers on silicon substrates were tested with the four-point probe to find the dependence of resistivity on the layer thickness. The analysis of the elemental composition of the layer was conducted using a scanning electron microscope equipped with an EDS system. The morphology of the layers was examined with the atomic force microscope (AFM) of the scanning electron microscope (SEM) and the structures with the use of X-ray diffraction (XRD). The thickness of the manufactured layers was estimated by ellipsometry. The composition was controlled by selecting the target and the conditions of the application, i.e. the composition of the plasma atmosphere and the power of the magnetrons. Based on the obtained results, this article aims to investigate the influence of the manufacturing method and the selected process parameter on the optical properties of thin films, which should be characterised by the highest possible value of the transmission coefficient (>85–90%) and high electrical conductivity.

This paper presents the results of a numerical analysis of nitride-based edge-emitting lasers with an InGaN/GaN active region designed for continuous wave room temperature emission of green and blue light. The main goal was to investigate whether the indium thin oxide (ITO) layer can serve as an effective optical confinement improving operation of these devices. Simulations were performed with the aid of a self-consistent thermal-electrical-optical model. Results obtained for green- and blue-emitting lasers were compared. The ITO layer in the p-type cladding was found to effectively help confine the laser mode in the active regions of the devices and to decrease the threshold current density.

Significant changes in kumite tactics were verified after the 2013 International Judo Federation rule revision, which mandated that competitors initiate sparring immediately at match outset. The research contained in this paper focused on the re-gripping techniques which were affected by this rule revision, relating to the gripping targets, the use of cross gripping techniques, body rotation when executing throws, and the attacking patterns. In total, 372 men’s contests from the Judo Grand Slam Paris 2016 were analyzed using All Japan Judo Federation Science and Research Department SMART Edge system. Throws resulting in scores were identified and the preceding kumite tactics were analyzed. Re-gripping techniques resulted in significantly higher score rates than the no re-gripping techniques when competitors grabbed the place of the competition number, and the place(s) other than the collar and sleeve with at least one hand except the place of the competition number. Re-gripping the opponent and targeting the place of the competition number might facilitate scoring. Using the re-gripping techniques could make a variety of gripping targets effective to score. We emphasize the importance of classifying kumite techniques into two major patterns: re-gripping and no re-gripping techniques when coaching competitors for kumite tactics.

We establish a duality for two lactorization questions, one for general positive definite (p.d.) kernels K, and the other for Gaussian processes, say V. The latter notion, for Gaussian processes is stated via Ito-integration. Our approach to factorization for p.d. kernels is intuitively motivated by matrix factorizations, but in infinite dimensions, subtle measure theoretic issues must be addressed. Consider a given p.d. kernel K, presented as a covariance kernel for a Gaussian process V. We then give an explicit duality for these two seemingly different notions of factorization, for p.d. kernel K, vs for Gaussian process V. Our result is in the form of an explicit correspondence. It states that the analytic data which determine the variety of factorizations for K is the exact same as that which yield factorizations for V. Examples and applications are included: point-processes, sampling schemes, constructive discretization, graph-Laplacians, and boundary-value problems.

The authors consider the problem of fraud detection at self-checkouts in retail in condition of unbalanced data set. A new ensemble-based method is proposed for its effective solution. The developed method involves two main steps: application of the preprocessing procedures and the Random Forest algorithm. The step-by-step implementation of the preprocessing stage involves the sequential execution of such procedures over the input data: scaling by maximal element in a column with row-wise scaling by Euclidean norm, weighting by correlation and applying polynomial extension. For polynomial extension Ito decomposition of the second degree is used. The simulation of the method was carried out on real data. Evaluating performance was based on the use of cost matrix. The experimental comparison of the effectiveness of the developed ensemble-based method with a number of existing (simples and ensembles) demonstrates the best performance of the developed method. Experimental studies of changing the parameters of the Random Forest both for the basic algorithm and for the developed method demonstrate a significant improvement of the investigated efficiency measures of the latter. It is the result of all steps of the preprocessing stage of the developed method use.

Among the large family of metallic oxides, there is a considerable group possessing excellent semiconducting properties. What follows, they are promising materials for applications in the field of optoelectronics and photonics. Thanks to the development of nanotechnology in the last few decades, it is now possible to manufacture a great variety of different nanostructures. By controlling their size, shape, composition and crystallinity, one can influence such properties as band gap, absorption properties, surface to volume ratio, conductivity, and, as a consequence, tune the material for the chosen application. The following article reviews the research conducted in the field of application of the metallic oxide nanoparticles, especially ZnO, TiO2 and ITO (Indium-Tin Oxide), in such branches of optoelectronics as solid-state lightning, photodetectors, solar-cells and transparent conducting layers.

At Japanese universities, the standing of the humanities has declined considerably over the last two decades. This decline is reminiscent of Bill Readings’ account of American universities as articulated in his University in Ruins (1996). In Readings’ analysis, American universities are ‘ruined’ because they have abandoned their intrinsic cultural mission in a shift that greatly undermines the standing of the humanities. His recommendation in the American context of the time is the adoption of a certain rhythm of disciplinary attachment and detachment, such as giving more weight to short-term collaborative projects on the assumption that every collaboration has a certain half-life. The manner in which Japanese universities are dealing with the shift against the humanities is more complex than Readings’ recommendation. While the government’s policy makers favor short-term usefulness in a sense superficially similar to Readings’ recommendation, scholars in the humanities tend to insist that the usefulness of humanities is undeniable but needs to be evaluated on a longer timescale.

The demand for indium is increasing every year. This metal is mainly used as indium tin oxide (ITO) in the production of transparent conductive coatings for liquid crystal displays (LCD). This paper focuses on biohydrometallurgical methods used for the recovery of indium and tin from LCD sourced from spent mobile phones. Bioleaching experiments were carried out in two different leaching media: 9K medium and H2SO4 solution, using mixed, adapted bacteria Acidothiobacillus ferrooxidans and Acidothiobacillus thiooxidans. The main aim of this study was to evaluate the potential and efficiency of indium and tin extraction in the presence of acidophilic microorganisms. Within 35 days, using 9K medium, 55.6% of indium was bioleached, whereas the chemical leaching resulted in a value of 3.4%. Leaching efficiency of tin was 90.2% on the 14th day of the experiment for the biological system (9K) and 93.4% on 21st day of control leaching.
