The Malacca River basin experienced river water pollution which caused a major deterioration to the ecosystems and environmental health. This study is carried out to assess the water quality data and identify the pattern of water pollution sources in the study area, and also to develop a predictive performance of water quality in the Malacca River basin. A chemometric approach using a combination of HCA, DA, PCA, and MLR, was applied into twenty water quality variables from nine sampling stations that were collected from January until December of 2015 in the river basin. HCA pointed out three clusters, namely Cluster 1 (C1) with low pollution source, Cluster 2 (C2) with moderate pollution source, and Cluster 3 (C3) with high pollution source. In the DA analysis, the results showed 21 variables, 12 variables, and 9 variables for standard mode, forward stepwise mode, and backward stepwise mode, respectively. Meanwhile, the PCA indicated that the main source of pollutants is detected from residential, industrial, commercial, agricultural, animal livestock, as well as forest land. Among the three models developed from MLR analysis, C3 with a high pollution source is detected to be the most suitable model to be used for the prediction of Water Quality Index in the Malacca River basin. This study proposed for an effective river water quality management by having new water quality monitoring network to be designed for more practical use in order to reduce time and effort, as well as cost saving purposes.

Opis:
We prepared Pt₃Ni and PtNi₃ nanoparticles of various sizes on conductive and atomically smooth highly oriented pyrolytic graphite surfaces using potentiostatic electrodeposition. We can control the size of electrodeposited nanoparticles and their density on the surface by changing the deposition time. The morphology of nanoparticles was determined by scanning electron microscopy. PtNi₃ particles have spherical shape, while Pt₃Ni particles have more irregular shape. Composition of particles was confirmed by energy dispersive spectroscopy. We have measured magnetic properties of both systems with 100 s preparation time, superparamagnetic behavior was observed in PtNi₃ nanoparticles with blocking temperature T_{B}=225 K.

Let Ks,t be the complete bipartite graph with partite sets of size s and t. Let L1 = ([a1, b1], . . ., [am, bm]) and L2 = ([c1, d1], . . ., [cn, dn]) be two sequences of intervals consisting of nonnegative integers with a1 ≥ a2 ≥ . . . ≥ am and c1 ≥ c2 ≥ . . . ≥ cn. We say that L = (L1; L2) is potentially Ks,t (resp. As,t)-bigraphic if there is a simple bipartite graph G with partite sets X = {x1, . . ., xm} and Y = {y1, . . ., yn} such that ai ≤ dG(xi) ≤ bi for 1 ≤ i ≤ m, ci ≤ dG(yi) ≤ di for 1 ≤ i ≤ n and G contains Ks,t as a subgraph (resp. the induced subgraph of {x1, . . ., xs, y1, . . ., yt} in G is a Ks,t). In this paper, we give a characterization of L that is potentially As,t-bigraphic. As a corollary, we also obtain a characterization of L that is potentially Ks,t-bigraphic if b1 ≥ b2 ≥ . . . ≥ bm and d1 ≥ d2 ≥ . . . ≥ dn. This is a constructive extension of the characterization on potentially Ks,t-bigraphic pairs due to Yin and Huang (Discrete Math. 312 (2012) 1241–1243).
