The aim of the present study was to determine the effects of Luteolin (LUT) on semen quality, oxidative stress, apoptosis, acrosomal integrity, mitochondrial membrane potential and dead sperm ratio in rabbits. Ejaculates from six New Zealand rabbits were collected, evaluated and pooled. The pooling was divided into five groups as control (no additive) LUT 25 μM, LUT 50 μM, LUT 100 μM and LUT 200 μM and LUT added. It was then filled into a falcon tube with Tris-based extender at a final concentration of approximately 35 x 106 spermatozoa. Diluated rabbit semen samples were drawn into frozen and thawed. Frozen semen straws were thawed at 37°C in 30 seconds. According to our findings, no statistical difference was found between all doses of luteolin and the control group in the CASA (computer assisted sperm analysis) analysis performed at 4°C. However, total motility, progressive motility and rapid sperm percentage were found to be higher in the frozen and thawed rabbit semen at a dose of LUT 50 μM compared to the other groups (p<0.05). While amplitude of lateral head displacement (ALH) and beat cross-frequency (BCF) values were found at the lowest dose of LUT 200 μM, a statistically significant difference was observed between the other groups. When the flow cytometry results were examined, no statistical difference was found between the rate of dead sperm, acrosomal integrity, mitochondrial membrane potential and apoptosis rate. Morever, the H2O2 percentage was found to be lower in all experimental groups compared to the control group (p<0.001). In conclusion, the addition of LUT in long-term storage of rabbit semen provided a protective effect for spermatozoa with its antioxidative properties against damage caused by cryopreservation.

Natural zeolite was modified by NaCl, AlCl3 and thermal treatment for the removal of NH4+ and PO43− ions. The characteristics of the modified zeolite (AlZ) and its mechanism for the NH4 + and PO43− removal were studied and compared. The results showed that the surface area and the Na+ and Al3+ content increased whereas the content of Ca2+, K+ and Mg2+ decreased after zeolite modification. On natural zeolite when activated with the 1 M NaCl and 10 cm3 /g of pillaring dosage, high adsorption efficiencies for the NH4 + (97.80%) PO43− (98.60%) were obtained. The results of various analyses indicated that the Na+ exchange is the main mechanism for NH4 + removal whereas the adsorption mechanism for PO43− followed the complexation with Al–OH groups present in the AlZ. In addition, the kinetics study showed that the adsorption of NH4+ and PO43− followed pseudo-second order model while the adsorption isotherm of NH4 + and PO43− is consistent with the Langmuir isotherm model. Moreover, the Gibbs free energy change for the simultaneous removal of the ions indicates that NH4 + is adsorbed faster compared to PO43−. The simultaneous removal of NH4 + and PO43− by AlZ adsorbent is cost effective in water treatment at low ion concentrations.

Opis:
The interface characteristics, bending and impact behavior, as well as fracture characteristics of stainless steel clad plates fabricated by vacuum hot rolling at different rolling temperatures of 1100°C, 1200°C and 1300°C are investigated in detail. The interface bonding strength is gradually increased with the increasing rolling temperature due to the sufficient diffusion behavior of alloy element. The bending toughness and impact toughness are gradually decreased, while the bending strength increase with the increase of the rolling temperature, which is attributed to mechanisms of matrix softening and interface strengthening at high rolling temperature. Due to the weak interface at 1100°C, the bending and impact crack propagation path was displaced by delamination cracks, which in turn lead to reduction in stress intensity of the main crack, playing an effective role in toughening the stainless steel clad plates. Moreover, the impact fracture morphologies of clad plates show a typical ductile-brittle transition phenomenon, which is attributed to the matrix softening behavior with the increasing rolling temperature.

Angular differential cross-sections for the formation of H, as a result of electron capture by proton from He$\text{}^{+}$(1s) at the centre-of-mass energies from 4 to 24 keV, are calculated using distorted wave Coulomb-Born approximation. The total interaction potentials in the prior-interaction channel and in the post-interaction channel are considered. Coulomb boundary conditions are taken care of with the proper choice of the perturbation potentials in both the prior and the post channels. A prior-post discrepancy is noted. Existing theoretical results are presented along with the present results.

The present paper deals with the field theoretic study of single ionization cross-sectionsσ$\text{}_{ph}$ and σ$\text{}_{C}$ of helium due to photoelectric effect and the Compton scattering, respectively, by photons of energy lying between 0-12 keV. In this energy range,σ$\text{}_{ph}$ gradually decreases with energy whileσ$\text{}_{C}$ gradually increases. There is a crossover point around 6.5 keV where σ$\text{}_{ph}$=σ$\text{}_{C}$=10$\text{}^{-24}$ cm$\text{}^{2}$. Near about this crossover point σ$\text{}_{ph}$ andσ$\text{}_{C}$ curves are like mirror images. The ratio σ$\text{}_{C}$/σ$\text{}_{ph}$ lies between 0.3 to 1.5 in the energy range under consideration. The present results are compared with existing theoretical results.

We have investigated single ionization of He by fast proton and antiproton using a QED approach. A field theoretical calculation gives the total cross-section of He in single ionization, from which it is seen that the projectile p$\text{}^{+}$ or p$\text{}^{-}$ gives almost the same values of cross-section. We have also compared our results with other theoretical and experimental results available in this context yet. Behaviour of the cross-section at a lower spectrum of projectile energy is discussed.

Doppler broadening measurements performed by a slow positron beam on p-type Si samples implanted with He at 20 keV and at a fluence of 5×10$\text{}^{15}$ and 2×10$\text{}^{16}$ cm$\text{}^{-2}$ are reviewed and discussed. The evolution of the open volume defects distribution was studied as a function of isochronal and isothermal annealing of the samples. In the as implanted samples the majority of the open volume defects produced by implantation was passivated by He. The open volume defects density decreases, reaching a minimum at 250°C. In the 250-650°C temperature range there is an increase in defects due to the appearance of vacancy clusters. At the higher annealing temperatures (700-900°C) the vacancy clusters disappear only in the samples implanted at 5×10$\text{}^{15}$ cm$\text{}^{-2}$.

The text concerns the issue of children’s perception of God. I link it to the semiotic analysis and Charles Sanders Peirce’s triadic concept of sign. Making use of the theories as well as the interviews concerning the perception of the character of God I demonstrate that the child interprets the world through contact with symbolic reality and through giving reality some meaning. Giving meaning applies to listening to the message as well as to analysing the conditions under which it occurred in a specific situation and finally to interpreting received content. The analysis of the interviews was done on the basis of semiotic analysis.

Drought variability of Kyrgyzstan is an important component of climate change of high Asia. Long-term information about the history of drought is, however, limited because the instrumental records are short. Here, we developed three chronologies for juniper trees (Juniperus turkestanica) under different microsite conditions in the Gulcha River Basin, Kyrgyzstan. The three chronologies (GUL, GUR and GUD) were compared with climate data which covered the study area. Growth of the GUL site correlates positively with May–June precipitation of the current growing season and September precipitation of the previous year, but negatively with temperatures of prior July, current May and July. Growth of the GUR site correlates positively with precipitation of current May and September, and negatively with temperature of current June and July. Ring width at GUD site is negatively correlated with temperature of the current May and July, and positively correlated with precipitation of prior December and current September. Response analysis shows that water availability is the main factor limiting the radial growth of juniper trees at the GUL and GUD sites. Based on the relationships derived from climate response analyses, the potential of tree-ring chronologies from this species to provide drought reconstructions in the Gulcha River Basin has been established. The GUL chronology and other moisture sensitive tree-ring series from high Asia capture the recent wetting trend. The records contribute to a growing tree-ring network for high Asia, including sites in China, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan and Tajikistan.

In the second half of the nineteenth century there was an increase in artistic contacts between Warsaw and Vilnius, as exemplified by the letter (18 May 1903) from the Archive of the Monastery and Church dedicated to Saints Peter and Paul in Antakalnis in Vilnius, which is now located in Vilnius Arkivyskupijos Kurija Archyvas. The addressee of the letter was the last canon regular of the Lateran from Antakalnis – Rev. Franciszek Zawadzki, who in 1903-1904 carried out the renovation of the church. The works also included the issue of ordering two altars at the entrance to the chancel. In that place there were originally two woodcarving altars donated by the benefactor of the Vilnius Canons Regular of the Lateran, Michał Kazimierz Pac. The new altars were to be performed by Warsaw artistic and ecclesiastical firm “J. Szpetkowski and Company“, which at that time performed a great number of decors in churches in the area of the former Grand Duchy of Lithuania. Due to the financial problems of the parish, despite the fact that the works began, the altars were not finally finished. The Warsaw company, however, sent the statue of St. Francis to Vilnius, and that figure was in one of the altars at the entrance to the chancel at least to 1939.

W artykule autor wskazuje, że art. 3 CMR regulujący odpowiedzialność przewoźnika za pracowników oraz inne osoby, do których usług przewoźnik się odwołuje, nie zmienia ogólnych zasad odpowiedzialności przewoźnika określonych w art. 17 i n. konwencji CMR. Przepis ten usuwa jednak wątpliwość, co do dopuszczalności korzystania przez przewoźnika z osób trzecich przy wykonywaniu przewozu. Ponadto - w powiązaniu z art. 29 ust. 2 CMR - pozwala przypisać przewoźnikowi zły zamiar lub niedbalstwo zrównane ze złym zamiarem, w sytuacji gdy można je przypisać pracownikowi przewoźnika lub innej osobie, do której usług przewoźnik się odwołał. Dotyczy to wprawdzie takiej sytuacji, w której pracownik lub inna osoba działa "w wykonywaniu swoich funkcji", jednak wyrażenie to należy rozumieć bardzo szeroko. W szczególności kradzież przesyłki przez pracownika przewoźnika lub inną osobę, którą posługuje się przewoźnik, musi być uznana za działanie "w wykonaniu funkcji".
In the article the author points out that Article 3 CMR, which regulates a carrier's liability for his agents and servants and any other persons of whose services he makes use does not change the general principles of the carrier's liability set out in Article 17 and ff. CMR. This provision, however, remove doubt as to the admissibility of the delegation by the carrier any of his duties to a third party. Furthermore - in conjunction with Article 29 (2) - it allows to recognize a carrier as guilty of wilful misconduct or equivalent default if the wilful misconduct or default is committed by the agents or servants of the carrier or by any other persons of whose services he makes use. Although this applies to a situation in which agents or servants or other persons are acting "within the scope of their employment", however this expression must be understood very broadly. In particular theft of the goods by a servant is in the course of servant's employment, because normally it is part of his employment to take care of the goods.
