Surface roughness is an important indicator in the evaluation of machining and product quality, as well as a direct factor affecting the performance of components. A rapidly developing filtering technology has become the main means of extracting surface roughness. The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) is constantly updating and improving the standard system for filtering technology in order to meet the requirements of technological development. Based on the filters already accepted by the international standard ISO 16610, this study briefly introduces the filtering principle of each filter, reviews the development of each filter in the application of surface roughness, and compares the advantages and limitations of their individual performances. The application range of each filter is summarized and, finally, the future direction of the digital filtering used in surface roughness is extrapolated.

Nowadays, the primary place of information exchange is the internet. Its features, such as: availability, unlimited capacity and diversity of information influenced its unrivalled popularity, making the internet a powerful platform for storage, dissemination and retrieval of information. On the other hand, the internet data are highly dynamic and unstructured. As a result, the internet users face the problem of data overload. Recommender systems help the users to find the products, services or information they are looking for. The article presents a recommender system for music artist recommendation. It is composed of user-based as well as item-based procedures, which can be selected dynamically during a user’s session. This also includes different similarity measures. The following measures are used to assess the recommendations and adapt the appropriate procedure: RMSE, MAE, Precision and Recall. Finally, the generated recommendations and calculated similarities among artists are compared with the results from LastFM service.
W obecnych czasach głównym miejscem wymiany informacji jest internet. Jego cechy, takie jak: wysoka dostępność, nieograniczona pojemność i różnorodność informacji wpłynęły na jego niezrównana popularność. W ten sposób internet stał się potężną platformą do przechowywania, rozpowszechniania i udostępniania informacji. Z drugiej strony, dane internetowe są bardzo dynamiczne i niestrukturalizowane. W rezultacie, użytkownicy internetu muszą radzić sobie z problemem przeładowania danych. Systemy rekomendujące służą pomocą użytkownikom w celu znalezienia poszukiwanych produktów, usług lub informacji. W artykule przedstawiono system rekomendujący artystów muzycznych. Składa się on z procedur typu user-based oraz item-based oraz różnych sposobów szacowania podobieństwa, które mogą˛ być zmieniane dynamicznie podczas sesji użytkownika. Do oceny list rekomendacji wykorzystano następujące miary: RMSE, MAE, Precision i Recall. Dodatkowo, wygenerowane rekomendacje i obliczone podobieństwa miedzy artystami są porównywane z wynikami z serwisu LastFM .

In this paper, we show that signal sampling operation can be considered as a kind of all-pass filtering in the time domain, when the Nyquist frequency is larger or equal to the maximal frequency in the spectrum of a signal sampled. We demonstrate that this seemingly obvious observation has wide-ranging implications. They are discussed here in detail. Furthermore, we discuss also signal shaping effects that occur in the case of signal under-sampling. That is, when the Nyquist frequency is smaller than the maximal frequency in the spectrum of a signal sampled. Further, we explain the mechanism of a specific signal distortion that arises under these circumstances. We call it the signal shaping, not the signal aliasing, because of many reasons discussed throughout this paper. Mainly however because of the fact that the operation behind it, called also the signal shaping here, is not a filtering in a usual sense. And, it is shown that this kind of shaping depends upon the sampling phase. Furthermore, formulated in other words, this operation can be viewed as a one which shapes the signal and performs the low-pass filtering of it at the same time. Also, an interesting relation connecting the Fourier transform of a signal filtered with the use of an ideal low-pass filter having the cut frequency lying in the region of under-sampling with the Fourier transforms of its two under-sampled versions is derived. This relation is presented in the time domain, too.

The paper introduces a multichannel filtering approach for colour video denoising taking advantage of an order-statistic theory for vector-valued image signals. The proposed adaptive vector filter utilizes switching between an identity operation and a directional distance smoothing function based on the trimmed set of lowest ranked multichannel samples. Because the proposed method uses the same ordering scheme as the standard vector filters, the computational complexity of the new method is computationally attractive. Moreover, the method outperforms the standard vector filters especially in terms of signal-detail preservation. In this paper, we analyse a three-dimensional filter structure based on a cube filter window spawning 27 samples of three following frames. Thus, the proposed algorithm can be applied for the filtering of spatio-temporal or time-varying vector-valued image signals such as colour image sequences or colour video.

The outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic has shown that the demand for medical masks and respirators exceeds the current global stockpile of these items, and there is a dire need to increase the production capacity. Considering that ionizing radiation has been used for sterilization of medical products for many years and electron beam (EB) irradiation enables the treatment of huge quantities of disposable medical products in a short time this method should be tested for the mask’s decontamination. In this work, three different filtering facepiece respirators (FFRs) were irradiated with electron beams of 12 kGy and 25 kGy. The results confirmed that the decrease in filtration efficiency after irradiation of all respirators results from the elimination of the electric charge from the polypropylene (PP) fibers in the irradiation process. Moreover, the applied doses may affect the thermal stability of PP fabrics, while filtering materials structure and integrity have not changed after irradiation.

The paper presents a new approach to Hybrid Kalman filtering, composed of Extended Kalman Filter and Unscented Kalman Filter. In known algorithms, the Unscented Kalman Filter algorithm is used as first and the result of this is given as an input to the Extended Kalman Filter. The authors checked modified Hybrid Kalman Filter with changed order of filters using theoretical object, which was created on the basis of power system. Besides traditional method, the modification of Hybrid Kalman Particle Filter was evaluated too. Results were compared with Extended Kalman Filter, Unscented Kalman Filter and Bootstrap Particle Filter. For particle filters the authors compared method estimation qualities for a different number of particles. The estimation quality was evaluated by three quality indices. Based on the obtained results, one can see that the changed order of methods in Hybrid Kalman filter can improve estimation quality.

In financial applications, understanding the asset correlation structure is crucial to tasks such as asset pricing, portfolio optimisation, risk management, and asset allocation. Thus, modelling the volatilities and correlations of multivariate stock market returns is of great importance. This paper proposes the iterated filtering algorithm for estimating the bivariate stochastic volatility model of Yu and Meyer. The iterated filtering method is a frequentist-based approach that utilises particle filters and can be applied to estimating the parameters of non-linear or non-Gaussian state-space models. The paper presents an empirical example that demonstrates the way in which the proposed estimation method might be used to estimate the correlation between the returns of two assets: Standard and Poor's 500 index and the price of gold in US dollars. This is accompanied by a simulation study that proves the validity of the approach.

For the last decade multibeam sonars have been increasingly used for mapping and visualization of the bottom surfaces to provide the 'physical bases' for environmental studies due to theirs unprecedentedly high resolution mapping ability. However, the raw sonar records are subject to systematic errors, random noise and outliers. In this paper Kalman filtering approach to generating optimal estimates of bottom surface from a noisy raw sonar records is presented. The experiment on the surface indicates that after applying the Kalman filtering technique the outliers of raw records can be efficiently detected and removed. Moreover in the same time, the two-step Kalman filtering method is applied, which aims to filter every multibeam sonar swath and enable 3D seabed visualization in real time. The 3D bottom relief before, and after the filtering method application is also presented.

Opis:
Robust filtering is a very promising area in application of biomedical signal processing. Signals are usually recorded with noise, which has various characteristics of baseline wander to very impulsive nature. The robust technique has been recently proposed as the tool to eliminate outliers in data samples. The main purpose of this paper is to present mean-median filters in application of ECG signal processing. The presented filter is evaluated in the presence of real muscle noise and simulated impulsive noise as a Gaussian-Laplace mixture. In order to suppress a noise with the best possible means, the special expression is proposed. The measure of distortions, which are introduced to a signal after operation of filtering, is estimated using the normalized mean square error. This factor is used to compare a quality of considered filters. Experimental results show improved performance according to the reference filters.

Opis:
Properties of filtering materials used as porous barriers in air cleaners of motor vehicles have been analyzed in the paper. Relations that determine the filter life have been analyzed and the coefficient of dust absorption km of the filtering material has been determined. Methodology of research has been presented of a study air filter element made of filtering fiber used as a second filtering stage downstream of a single continuous cyclone. The results of the investigations into the characteristics of efficiency, accuracy and drag of the filtering fiber for different filtering rates have been discussed. Dust absorption coefficients km have been determined. Changes in the granulometric composition of dust downstream of the investigated filtering element have been presented. Benefits resulting from the application of a two-stage air filtering method have been indicated.
W artykule zanalizowano właściwości materiałów filtracyjnych stosowanych jako przegrody porowate w filtrach powietrza pojazdów mechanicznych. Zanalizowano także zależność określającą czas pracy filtru powietrza oraz zdefiniowano współczynnik chłonności pyłu km materiału filtracyjnego. Przedstawiono metodykę badań wkładu badawczego wykonanego z włókniny pracujący jako drugi stopień filtracji za pojedynczym cyklonem przelotowym. Omówiono wyniki badań charakterystyk skuteczności i dokładności filtracji oraz oporów przepływu włókniny filtracyjnej dla różnych prędkości filtracji. Określono współczynniki chłonności pyłu km włókniny filtracyjnej. Zaprezentowano zmiany składu granulometrycznego pyłu za badawczym wkładem filtracyjnym. Wskazano korzyści wynikające z zastosowania dwustopniowej filtracji powietrza.

Barndorff-Nielsen and Shephard (2001) proposed a class of stochastic volatility models in which the volatility follows the Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process driven by a positive Levy process without the Gaussian component. The parameter estimation of these models is challenging because the likelihood function is not available in a closed-form expression. A large number of estimation techniques have been proposed, mainly based on Bayesian inference. The main aim of the paper is to present an application of iterated filtering for parameter estimation of such models. Iterated filtering is a method for maximum likelihood inference based on a series of filtering operations, which provide a sequence of parameter estimates that converges to the maximum likelihood estimate. An application to S&P500 index data shows the model perform well and diagnostic plots for iterated filtering ensure convergence iterated filtering to maximum likelihood estimates. Empirical application is accompanied by a simulation study that confirms the validity of the approach in the case of Barndorff-Nielsen and Shephard's stochastic volatility models.

We show that adding compatible operations to Heyting algebras and to commutative residuated lattices, both satisfying the Stone law ¬x ⋁ ¬¬x = 1, preserves filtering (or directed) unification, that is, the property that for every two unifiers there is a unifier more general then both of them. Contrary to that, often adding new operations to algebras results in changing the unification type. To prove the results we apply the theorems of [9] on direct products of l-algebras and filtering unification. We consider examples of frontal Heyting algebras, in particular Heyting algebras with the successor, γ and G operations as well as expansions of some commutative integral residuated lattices with successor operations.

Various components of surface texture are identified, namely form, waviness and roughness. Separation of these components is done by digital filtering. Several problems exist during analysis of two-process surfaces. Therefore the Gaussian robust profile filtering technique was established and has been studied here. The computer generated 2D profiles and 3D surface topographies having triangular scratches as well as measured stratified surfaces were subjected to filtration. However even robust filter applications cause distortion of profiles having valleys wider than 100 ěm. In order to minimize the distortion associated with wide and deep valleys, the robust filter should be modified. A special procedure was elaborated for minimizing distortion of roughness profiles caused by filtration. Application of this method to analyses of several profiles was presented. The difference between 1-D and 2-D filtering of surface topography using the same kind of filter was discussed. As a result we found that modification of a 2-D surface topography filter was not necessary.

Efficient diagnosis and prognosis of system faults depend on the ability to estimate the system state on the basis of noisy measurements of the system dynamic variables and parameters. The system dynamics is typically characterized by transitions among discrete modes of operation, each one giving rise to a specific continuous dynamics of evolution. The estimation of the state of these hybrid dynamic systems is a particularly challenging task because it requires keeping track of the transitions among the multiple modes of system dynamics corresponding to the different modes of operation. In this paper a Monte Carlo estimation method is illustrated with an application to a case study of literature which consists of a tank filled with liquid, whose level is autonomously maintained between two thresholds. The system behavior is controlled by discrete mode actuators, whose states are estimated by a Monte Carlo-based particle filter on the basis of noisy level and temperature measurements.

This paper presents an estimation method of the conducted electromagnetic interference EMI emissions in soft switching inverters. Estimation process is carried out by a number of Wiener filters, which represent different operation conditions as reflected through subsequent power converter states determined by initial commutation event conditions and propagation paths layout. Filters are fed by a semiconductor power switch voltage or current waveforms regarded as sources of perturbation. The EMI emissions are measured on the line impedance stabilization network LISN terminals. Optimal filter adaptation is effected in the frequency domain by measuring input and cross power signal spectra. Analysis of parallel quasi resonant dc link voltage inverter PQRDCLI is outlined to distinguish filters assigned for inverter operation and those for an external DC/DC converter interaction. Experimental results are given to illustrate the Wiener filtering estimation quality. Possibility of detailed decomposition of the LISN-EMI waveforms is depicted in both time and frequency domain. Comparative analysis of frequency responses for PQRDCLI link voltage changes is given.

The non-contact current measurement method with magnetic sensors has become a subject of research. Unfortunately, magnetic sensors fail to distinguish the interested magnetic field from nearby interference and suffer from gauss white noise due to the intrinsic noise of the sensor and external disturbance. In this paper, a novel adaptive filtering-based current reconstruction method with a magnetic sensor array is proposed. Interference-rejection methods based on two classic algorithms, the least-mean-square (LMS) and recursive-least-square (RLS) algorithms, are compared when used in the parallel structure and regular triangle structure of three-phase system. Consequently, the measurement range of RLS-based algorithm is wider than that of LMS-based algorithm. The results of carried out simulations and experiments show that RLS-based algorithms can measure currents with an error of around 1%. Additionally, the RLS-based algorithm can filter the gauss white noise whose magnitude is within 10% of the linear magnetic field range of the sensor.

Cel pracy: Ocena przydatności bewacyzumabu w kroplach u pacjentów poddanych trabekulektomii w celu zahamowania gojenia rany pooperacyjnej. Materiał i metody: 53 osoby po zabiegu przeciwjaskrowym z wytworzeniem pęcherzyka filtracyjnego, u których doszło do wczesnej, pooperacyjnej niewydolności pęcherzyka kwalifikującej się do zastosowania bewacyzumabu w kroplach. Pełnej analizie statystycznej poddano 30 pacjentów, którzy poza badaniem ciśnienia wewnątrzgałkowego, badaniem w lampie szczelinowej i oceną pęcherzyka w skali MBGS, dodatkowo wykonane mieli zdjęcia fotograficzne pęcherzyka, na podstawie których dokonano pełnej analizy morfologicznej pęcherzyka. Wyniki: Całkowity sukces po 6 miesiącach, bez stosowania leków przeciwjaskrowych (ciśnienie wewnątrzgałkowe końcowe <18 mmHg i obniżenie ciśnienia wewnątrzgałkowego wyjściowego o 30%) osiągnięto u 18 pacjentów (60%). Częściowy sukces (obniżenie ciśnienia wewnątrzgałkowego wyjściowego o 30%) osiągnięto u 19 pacjentów (63,3%). Wnioski: Bewacyzumab to skuteczna i bezpieczna terapia pomocnicza dla miejscowych glikokortykosteroidów w leczeniu wczesnej pooperacyjnej niewydolności pęcherzyka poprzez zmniejszenie unaczynienia na jego powierzchni. Ocena średniej powierzchni naczyń pęcherzyka na zdjęciu fotograficznym, dokonana przy użyciu programu ImageJ, koreluje z oceną pęcherzyka w skali MBGS.
Objectives: Evaluation of bevacizumab drops in patients undergoing trabeculectomy in order to inhibit postoperative wound healing. Material and methods: A total of 53 patients treated surgically for glaucoma. The anti-glaucoma procedures with the creation of a filtering bleb were performed. The patients developed early postoperative bleb insufficiency qualifying them for the use of bevacizumab drops. Thirty were completely statistically analyzed; intraocular pressure and slit lamp examinations were performed and the bleb was assessed according to the MBGS. Additionally, photographs of the filtering blebs were made, which were used for bleb morphological analysis. Results: Total success, after 6 months, without using anti-glaucoma drugs (intraocular pressure < 18 mmHg and a decrease in baseline intraocular pressure by 30%) was observed in 18 patients (60%). Partial success, after 6 months, without using anti-glaucoma drugs (decrease in baseline intraocular pressure by 30%) was achieved in 19 patients (63.3%). Conclusions: Bevacizumab is an effective and safe adjunctive therapy with topical steroids for the treatment of early postoperative filtering bleb insufficiency as it reduces innervation on the bleb surface. Evaluation of the mean surface of bleb vessels on photographs, using ImageJ (Wayne Rasband), correlates with MBGS evaluation of filtering blebs.

In this paper both envelope approach and morphological filters for characterisation of surface textures were proposed, applied and thoroughly examined. Obtained results were compared with those received after appliance of commonly-used algorithms. The effect of appliance of proposed procedures on surface topography parameters (from ISO 25178 standard) was taken into consideration. The following types of surface textures were assessed: two-process plateau-honed cylinder liners, plateau-honed cylinder liners with additionally burnished dimples, turned piston skirts, grinded and/or isotropic topographies. It was assumed that envelope characteristics (envelope filtration) can provide results useful for assessments of deep and/or wide oil-reservoirs especially when they are edge located. Moreover, some near-valley areas of surface texture details can be less distorted when envelope filtering is accomplished. It was also found that closing and/or opening envelope filtration can be valuable for reduction of some surface topography measurement errors.

In this paper, we propose a distributed system for point cloud processing and transferring them via computer network regarding to effectiveness-related requirements. We discuss the comparison of point cloud filters focusing on their usage for streaming optimization. For the filtering step of the stream pipeline processing we evaluate four filters: Voxel Grid, Radial Outliner Remover, Statistical Outlier Removal and Pass Through. For each of the filters we perform a series of tests for evaluating the impact on the point cloud size and transmitting frequency (analysed for various fps ratio). We present results of the optimization process used for point cloud consolidation in a distributed environment. We describe the processing of the point clouds before and after the transmission. Pre- and post-processing allow the user to send the cloud via network without any delays. The proposed pre-processing compression of the cloud and the post-processing reconstruction of it are focused on assuring that the end-user application obtains the cloud with a given precision.

The secretiveness of sonar operation can be achieved by using continuous frequency-modulated sounding signals with reduced power and significantly prolonged repeat time. The application of matched filtration in the sonar receiver provides optimal conditions for detection against the background of white noise and reverberation, and a very good resolution of distance measurements of motionless targets. The article shows that target movement causes large range measurement errors when linear and hyperbolic frequency modulations are used. The formulas for the calculation of these errors are given. It is shown that for signals with linear frequency modulation the range resolution and detection conditions deteriorate. The use of hyperbolic frequency modulation largely eliminates these adverse effects.

Text alignment and text quality are critical to the accuracy of Machine Translation (MT) systems, some NLP tools, and any other text processing tasks requiring bilingual data. This research proposes a language-independent bisentence filtering approach based on Polish (not a position-sensitive language) to English experiments. This cleaning approach was developed on the TED Talks corpus and also initially tested on the Wikipedia comparable corpus, but it can be used for any text domain or language pair. The proposed approach implements various heuristics for sentence comparison. Some of the heuristics leverage synonyms as well as semantic and structural analysis of text as additional information. Minimization of data loss has been? ensured. An improvement in MT system scores with text processed using this tool is discussed.

W pracy przedstawiono praktyczną realizację analogowo-cyfrowego systemu rejestracji szybkich obiektów. Przez szybkie obiekty rozumie się przeciwlotnicze pociski artyleryjskie o kalibrach powyżej 23 mm. System został zbudowany z wykorzystaniem stacji radiolokacyjnej ZRP-1 „WAZA” oraz sprzężonego z nią komputera klasy IBMPC wyposażonego w kartę wejść – wyjść analogowych. Przedstawiono część analogową systemu oraz algorytm obliczeń realizowanych w komputerze traktowany jako cyfrową obróbkę sygnałów. Na koniec omówiono wizualizację wyników rejestracji. System ten był już wielokrotnie wykorzystywany podczas badań nowych przeciwlotniczych zestawów artyleryjskich.
In this work practical realization of the analog to digital recording system of the fast object are presented. As a fast object the anti-aircraft artillery guns whit caliber 23 mm or greater are understanding. The system was build with use of the radar station ZRP-1 “WAZA” coupling with computer IBMPC appointed an analog inputoutput adapter. The analogue section and the algorithm of the computation realizing in the computer, treating as digital data processing, are presented. At last visualisation of the recording results are discuss. Presented system was repeatedly used during a new anti-aircraft artillery systems research.

This article presents developed standard filters that can be used for assessing the repeatability of tests stands for performing penetration tests of standard aerosols through filtering materials which are used in the manufacture of respiratory protective devices. Standard filters can be used for estimating test results obtained with the use of both sodium chloride and paraffin oil mist.

A nonlinear filtering problem with delays in the state and observation equations is considered. The unnormalized conditional probability density of the filtered diffusion process satisfies the so-called Zakai equation and solves the nonlinear filtering problem. We examine the solution of the Zakai equation using an approximation result. Our theoretical deliberations are illustrated by a numerical example.
