Opis:
The analysis carried out in the article indicates the truths about the Church contained in Benedict XVI’s encyclicals, which at the same time constitute specific inspirations for the missionary work of the Church ad gentes. The Pope does not distinguish between generally separate „missionary situations” and speaks rather of a single, fundamental, inalienable mission that still stands before the Church. Sometimes, however, he evokes the activity of the Church in mission areas. He reminds and points out that the Church’s ever-present task, including the mission ad gentes, is to remind and proclaim to the contemporary world the truth about God who is love. Missionary activity is also supposed to restore hope to modern man that goes beyond the temporal order. Finally, the Church’s mission, especially in the framework of her mission ad gentes, is to care for the true progress and development of every person and of the whole human society in truth and love. The missionary activity of the community Christ’s disciples remains a special area of such presence and witness of the Church in a world which is constantly globalizing.

The contribution details the perspective of this ministry to married couples according to the five steps of any sacramental ministry: to propose abundantly, to welcome without reserve, to encourage a progression (personal and spiritual growth), to celebrate in beauty, and to accompany the mystagogical follow-up.

Nowa Ewangelizacja powinna znaleźć zasadnicze miejsce w posłudze Kościoła naszego czasu. Dlatego Kościół musi raz jeszcze podjąć wysiłek zrozumienia tego, czym jest Nowa Ewangelizacja. Jak zauważa papież-emeryt Benedykt XVI – pojęcie to funkcjonuje na sposób hasła, terminu technicznego. W konsekwencji stało się wręcz pojęciem bez znaczenia, o niedookreślonej treści, a przynajmniej powierzchownym i pozbawionym większego znaczenia i sensu. Stąd jako szczególne zadanie postrzega Benedykt XVI konieczność dookreślenia jego treści i formułuje w tym zakresie swoje propozycje, zdecydowanie przeciwstawiając się uproszczeniem i zafałszowaniom terminu nowej ewangelizacji. Oznacza to jednak tak naprawdę przypomnienie, czym miała być nowa ewangelizacja – która została już zdefiniowana w czasie kontynentalnych Zgromadzeń Synodalnych, będących przygotowaniem Kościoła do jubileuszowego roku 2000. Oznacza ona odrodzenie życia wiary Kościołów lokalnych; inicjację procesów dostrzegania i rozumienia przemian, podjęcie nowych zobowiązań z myślą o radosnym i udzielającym się innym głoszeniu Ewangelii Jezusa Chrystusa

Africa is currently undergoing rapid globalisation in many areas. This growth is particularly strong through mobile internet connectivity, which is having a considerable impact on economic growth. There were six African countries among the world’s top ten fastest growing economies between 2001 and 2010 – Angola, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Chad, Mozambique and Rwanda (Economist). This article examines the current concerns related to globalisation in Africa. It then moves on to identify specific areas and issues for mission and ministry linked to the phenomenon of globalisation in Africa and elsewhere. It proposes solutions for effective strategies for mission and ministry in this context.

This paper is a reflection on the theological and pastoral implications of the communication of faith through the media. Its starting point is not based on the dichotomous categorisation of the media as either very beneficial, or very negative for the communication of faith; thus avoiding an either/or attitude which is very limiting. The hypothesis explored is that the language of faith is only communicated through the language of a medium and that such a translation, not to say incarnation, has to take into consideration the technological, organisational and cultural dimensions of the legacy or traditional media as well as their very important role in contemporary culture. The cultural and theological reflection will then be followed by the proposal of elements of a pastoral strategy that best respects the characteristics of faith and media as well as those of the audiences towards which both faith and media are directed.

Podstawową misja Kościoła jest doprowadzenie człowieka do przyjęcia Jezusa Chrystusa jako swojego Pana i Zbawiciela. Służyć ma temu szeroko pojęta ewangelizacja. Wielu wskazuje, że obecnie Kościół przeżywa kryzys. Wydaje się, że zjawisko sekularyzacji zbiera największe dotychczas żniwo. Równolegle obserwuje się coś odwrotnego. Tysiące ludzi w Polsce i na całym świecie odnajduje się na nowo w Kościele. Bez wątpienia dzieje się tak za sprawą nowej ewangelizacja, która jest owocem Soboru Watykańskiego II. Szczególna rolę w tym dziele odgrywają dary duchowe zwane charyzmatami, które są dane przez Ducha Świętego. Wraz z nimi zauważalne jest posługa charyzmatyczna, która gromadzi liczne rzesze ludzi potrzebujących i szukających Bożej Obecności i Bożego działania. Dzięki tej posłudze i wielkiej roli nowych wspólnot przeżywamy obecnie wiosnę Kościoła.  
The Church's basic mission is to lead man to accept Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Broadly understood evangelization is to serve this purpose. Many point out that the church is currently in crisis. It seems that the phenomenon of secularization is taking the largest harvest so far. At the same time, the opposite is observed. Thousands of people in Poland and all over the world find themselves again in the Church. This is undoubtedly due to the new evangelization which is the fruit of the Second Vatican Council.  A special role in this work is played by spiritual gifts called charisms, which are given by the Holy Spirit. Along with them there is a noticeable charismatic service that gathers large numbers of people in need and seeking God's Presence and God's action. We are now experiencing the spring of the Church thanks to this service and the great role of new communities.

W niniejszym artykule przeanalizowano sposoby obrony Krzyża w trzech homiliach Jana Pawła II wygłoszonych w Polsce: w Nowej Hucie, w Katedrze na Wawelu i w Zakopanem. Zaobserwowano, że Papież stosuje argumentację ewangeliczną i historyczną. Podkreśla znaczenie Krzyża jako boskiego znaku odkupienia, obdarowania i miłości Jezusa Chrystusa do człowieka. Wymienia także osoby, które dochowały wierności Krzyżowi i swoim heroizmem zapisały się w historii Polski: królowa Jadwiga, brat Albert Chmielowski, Bernardyna Jabłońska, Maria Karłowska. W homilii wygłoszonej w Nowej Hucie Papież nakreślił program nowej ewangelizacji, polegającej na wytrwałej i odważnej obronie Krzyża w każdym miejscu i czasie, będącej powinnością wszystkich wierzących. W tekście zwrócono również uwagę na aspekty retoryczne przemówień papieskich: zróżnicowane akty mowy (wykład, medytacja, apel) i środki stylistyczne (m.in. powtórzenia, paralelizmy, pytania retoryczne).
This paper presents an analysis of the various ways the Cross was defended in John Paul II’s homilies delievered in Poland on the following occasions: in Nowa Huta, in the Wawel Royal Cathedral and Zakopane. The speaker used arguments anchored in the Gospel and history. He emphasised the meaning of the Cross as a sign of God’s redemption, gift and love towards humans. The speaker evoked people from Polish history who remained faithful to the Cross and are remembered for their heroic attitude: Queen Jadwiga, brother Albert Chmielowski, Bernardyna Jabłońska and Maria Karłowska. In his homily given in Nowa Huta, the Pope signalled the idea of new evangelisation, which requires all believers to undertake persistent and courageous defence of the Cross, irrespective of time and place. The paper also discusses rhethorical aspects of the sermons, such as various types of speech deployed therein (lectures, meditations, appeals) and stylistic devices (e.g. similes, parallelisms, rhetorical questions).

Autorka podejmuje próbę oceny działań Kościoła katolickiego w mediach społecznościowych. W tym celu przeprowadza ankietę w grupie diakonów, jako wyświęconych dla zadań posługi w Kościele. Autorka bada rodzaje aktywności oraz częstotliwość korzystania z social media, a także popularność wybranych kanałów. Zadaje istotne pytanie, jak sami ankietowani oceniają rolę nowoczesnych mediów w swojej posłudze, a także bada znajomość innych kościelnych inicjatyw. Na podstawie przeprowadzonej ankiety nakreśla wnioski nt. wykorzystania mediów społecznościowych w posłudze ewangelizacyjnej oraz formułuje postulaty (np. zwiększenie kompetencji).
The Author attempts to evaluate the actions of the Catholic Church in social media. For this purpose, a survey was made in a group of deacons, as a people ordained for tasks of service in the Church. The Author examines the types of activities and the frequency of use of social media, as well as the popularity of the selected channels. Asks an important question, as they surveyed assess the role of modern media in their ministry, and explores the knowledge of otherecclesial initiatives. Based on the survey outlines conclusions of using social media in the service of evangelization are drawn. The Author formulates demands as well (eg. increasing the competences).

Autor artykułu analizuje w swojej refleksji pastoralno-teologicznej niektóre wypowiedzi papieża Franciszka na temat stałego diakonatu w Kościele. Ukazuje posługę ewangelizacyjną i duszpasterską stałych diakonów w kontekście zmieniającej się rzeczywistości pod wpływem laicyzacji i sekularyzacji. Papież docenia ich służbę na rzecz Kościoła i współczesnego człowieka. Przestrzega przed podejmowaniem działalności wykraczającej poza granice ich posługi, zwłaszcza wchodzenia w uprawnienia prezbiterów w krajach, gdzie brakuje powołań. Zwraca również uwagę na posługę miłosierdzia, w której diakoni powinni pełnić rolę wiodącą.
In his pastoral and theological reflection the author analyses some of Pope Francis’s statements regarding the permanent diaconate in the Church. He presents evangelisation and pastoral service of permanent deacons in the context of changing reality under the influence of laicisation and secularisation. Pope Francis appreciates their service for the Church and for the people around them. Though he warns against expanding the activities of the deacon beyond his expertise. By this he particularly means the domain of the presbyter in countries with a lack of vocations to priesthood. The Pope emphasises diaconia in which permanent deacons should play an important role.

Sposób obecności Kościoła i dobrej nowiny w świecie masmediów, Internetu i serwisach społecznościowych jest jedną z najbardziej aktualnych kwestii stojących przed głosicielami Chrystusa czasów współczesnych. Treść papieskich orędzi na temat mediów stanowi punkt wyjścia dla niniejszego artykułu. W dalszej części ukazane są szanse i zagrożenia związane z obecnością chrześcijańskich autorów i ich przekazu Ewangelii w przestrzeni wirtualnej. Bezsporną pozostaje sama konieczność uczestnictwa ludzi Kościoła w mediach i Internecie, gdyż miejsca te stanowią współczesne areopagi, w których tak jak w czasach apostolskich, głos wyznawców Chrystusa musi być słyszalny. W podsumowaniu artykułu autor, jako uczestnik serwisów społecznościowych, dzieli się własnymi doświadczeniami kilkuletniej aktywności w internetowej komunikacji Dobrej Nowiny.
The way the church and the good news should be present in the domain of the mass media, the Internet and online social networking services is one of the most important challenges for the followers of Christ in our days. This article is based on the content of papal addresses on the subject of mediums. Even though the presence of the bearers of the gospel message on the net brings with opportunities certain dangers, it is without doubt that it is a necessity of the contemporary times to take part in the buzzing world of the mass media and the virtual community. These spaces could be well paralleled with the ancient areopagus where just like in the apostolic times the voice of the followers of Christ must be heard. In the article the authors shares some of his own experience in spreading the Good News in using the social networking services.

W Polsce wraz z nową sytuacją społeczno-polityczną zaistniała konieczność poszukiwania nowych form ewangelizacji w docieraniu do współczesnego człowieka oraz konieczność otwierania się na nowe obszary ewangelizacyjne. Należało zmienić dotychczasową pracę duszpasterską. Przez wiele dziesięcioleci dominowało duszpasterstwo masowe. Obecnie, nie rezygnuje się z niego całkowicie, dostrzega się jednak coraz bardziej potrzebę duszpasterstwa indywidualnego, specjalistycznego, otwartego na laikat i na społeczeństwo. Przejawem takich zmian strukturalnych w Polsce jest dowartościowanie i obecność ludzi świeckich w życiu i działalności Kościoła katolickiego. Wyrazem takiego zaangażowania jest m.in. publiczne manifestowanie swojej wiary, odważne przyznawanie się do niej, dawanie świadectwa wiary. Chodzi o manifestowanie swojej wiary w przestrzeni publicznej, w massmediach, a także w strukturach społeczno-politycznych państwa. I są odważni profesorowie, uczeni, intelektualiści, politycy, którzy nie mają problemu z przyznaniem się do świata wartości chrześcijańskich, wbrew poprawności politycznej i oczekiwaniom niektórych “pseudoponowoczesnych” ludzi. W Polsce wskazuje się na różne obszary ewangelizacji. Niektórzy teologowie nazywają je podstawowymi „areopagami” nowej ewangelizacji. Są nimi: rodzina (była i jest ostoją wszelkiej ewangelizacji i działalności eklezjalnej w Polsce), młodzież, edukacja, praca zawodowa, kultura, media, Internet, życie społeczno-polityczne, zjawisko migracji, ekumenizm, nowe ruchy i wspólnoty religijne, szkoły nowej ewangelizacji, parafia. Nie ma “nowej ewangelizacji” bez “starej ewangelizacji”. Każda ewangelizacja – “stara i nowa” ma sens i jest konieczna, o ile zbliża ludzi do nieba. To powinien być podstawowy paradygmat ewangelizacji. Zarówno w Polsce, jak i na świecie, podejmowana praca ewangelizacyjna w takim kierunku powinna przebiegać. Inaczej nie ma sensu i nie prowadzi ludzi do Ostatecznego Sensu, Sensu Najwyższego, czyli do Logosu. Logosu, KTÓRYM JEST BÓG.
In Poland, along with a new social and political situation, it became necessary to seek new forms of evangelization in reaching out to modern people. It was necessary to change the current pastoral work. For many decades it dominated mass kind of working. Currently, the Church does not resign from it completely, but it recognizes the need for pastoral care more and more individual, specialized, open to the laity and nation. A manifestation of such structural changes in Poland is the appreciation and the presence of the laity in the life and activity of the Catholic Church. An expression of such involvement include public manifestations of their faith, courageous confessing to being witness of faith. There is a need to be presence at public space, mass media and socio-political structure of the state. Polish community needs brave professors, scholars, intellectuals, politicians who have no problem with admitting to the world of Christian values against political correctness in a modern world. We can say about new different areas of evangelization in Poland. Some theologians call them “basic areopags” of new evangelization. They are: first of all family, youth, education, professional work, culture, media, internet, social and political life, migration, ecumenism, new religious movements and communities, schools, the new evangelization parish . There is no "new evangelization" without the "old evangelization” .
Nella Polonia, insieme a una nuova situazione politico-sociale si è reso necessario a cercare nuove forme di evangelizzazione di un uomo moderno e la necessità di aprire nuovi spazi di evangelizzazione. Era necessario cambiare la pastorale corrente. Per molti decenni ha dominato la pastorale di massa. Attualmente, non se ne dimette completamente, ma riconosce la necessità di una pastorale sempre più individuale, specializzata, aperta ai laici e alla società. Una manifestazione di tali cambiamenti strutturali nella Polonia è l’apprezzamento e la presenza dei laici nella vita e l’attività della Chiesa. Allo stesso tempo, non vi è alcuna “nuova evangelizzazione” senza la “vecchia evangelizzazione”. Ogni evangelizzazione – “vecchia e nuova” ha senso ed è necessaria a meno che avvicini le persone al cielo. Questo dovrebbe essere un paradigma fondamentale dell’evangelizzazione. Sia nella Polonia che nel mondo, sforzo d’evangelizzazione dovrebbe procedere in questa direzione.

This article presents actual missionary involvement of the diocese of Tarnów in the context of the 225th anniversary of its existence. For 38 years, Catholic missionaries from the diocese of Tarnow have been traveling the globe educating other cultures about the Christian faith as well as organising everything needed for the improvement of people’s spiritual and physical lives. So, missionary activities have two dimensions – spiritual and material. The bishop’s role, as the ruler and centre of unity in the diocesan apostolate, is to promote missionary activity, to direct it and to coordinate it, but always in such a way that the zeal and spontaneity of those who share in the work may be preserved and fostered. The missionary activities in the diocese of Tarnow have been strongly supported by the bishops: Jerzy Ablewicz, Józef Życiński and Wiktor Skworc, who have sent 118 priests to the three continents. The Tarnow missionary work is a great contribution to the evangelization of the countries in Africa, South America and, more recently, in Asia (mostly Kazakhstan). This commitment has been marked by the seal of martyrdom by one of the priest – Fr. Jan Czuba who was murdered in the Republic of Congo in 1998. Currently, the Diocesan Missionary Agency has sent 46 priests as missionaries: 14 to Africa, 27 to Latin America and 5 to Kazakhstan. Apostolic activity is organized not only by priests, but also by lay missionaries: one in Cameroon, two in the Central African Republic and additionally two volunteers.

Artykuł przedstawia nauczanie Jana Pawła II zawarte w orędziach na Światowy Dzień Chorego. Celem publikacji jest wydobycie z wybranych orędzi treści o liturgicznym posługiwaniu chorym i cierpiącym. Drugim celem jest ukazanie przemieniającej łaski Chrystusa w trudnym doświadczeniu choroby, cierpienia, śmierci, w których chory uczestniczy. Nauka ta zapisana i realizowana w liturgii jest skierowana zarówno do wierzących jak i niewierzących. W orędziach możemy odnaleźć kilka płaszczyzn, na których troska o los chorych i cierpiących jest wyrażana w liturgii. Należą do nich: centralne miejsce Mszy świętej w corocznych obchodach Światowego Dnia Chorego, podkreślenie wartości sakramentów: przede wszystkim Eucharystii i pokuty, każdorazowe wspomnienie o maryjnym sanktuarium oraz nakreślenie misji kapłanów pełniących sakramentalną posługę chorych. Papieskie pojmowanie liturgii w orędziach ogniskuje się wokół problemu przyjmowania cierpienia wedle wiary katolickiej wyrażonej w liturgii, świadczenia o autentyczności orędzia Chrystusa w chorobie oraz ewangelizacyjnej i przemieniającej roli liturgii wobec ludzi wierzących i niewierzących. Spojrzenie papieża Jana Pawła II nie ogranicza się tylko do kwestii rytualnych czy dyscyplinarnych, ale kieruje się na dialog między Bogiem, Kościołem, człowiekiem i światem, w którym liturgia ma budować jedność opartą na Chrystusie i prowadzić do moralnego, duchowego a w końcu do eschatologicznego odnowienia człowieka i świata. Rozważania te są bardzo istotne w perspektywie współczesnych zmian dokonujących się w Kościele, odrzucenia przez człowieka współczesnego nauki o krzyżu Chrystusa, którą wierni powinni z mocą Ducha Świętego głosić na nowo, epidemii koronawirusa, który pokazał liczne słabości wspólnoty wierzących  
This article presents the teachings of John Paul II expressed in his messages for the World Day of the Sick. The aim of this publication is to extract from selected messages fragments devoted to the liturgical care for the sick and suffering. The second objective is to show the transforming grace of Christ in the difficult experience of sickness, suffering and death in which the sick participate. These teachings included in and implemented through liturgy are aimed at both believers and non-believers. In the messages, we can find several planes on which the care for the sick and suffering is expressed in liturgy. They include: the central position of the Mass in annual celebrations of the World Day of the Sick, emphasising the value of sacraments, most importantly the Eucharist and the Reconciliation, mentioning the shrine to the Virgin Mary, and outlining the mission of priests involved in sacramental ministry to the sick. The pope’s understanding of liturgy expressed in his messages focuses on the problem of accepting suffering in accordance with the Catholic faith expressed in liturgy, showing the authenticity of Christ’s message in sickness, and demonstrating the evangelical and transforming role of liturgy for believers and non-believers. The view of Pope John Paul II is not limited to ritual or disciplinary matters, but focuses on a dialogue between God, the Church, man and the world, in which liturgy is supposed to build unity based on Christ and lead to a moral, spiritual and finally eschatological renewal of man and the world. These reflections are very important from the perspective of current changes in the Church, the rejection of the teaching on Christ’s cross by the modern man, which should be preached anew by believers with the power of the Holy Spirit, and the coronavirus pandemic, which has exposed many weaknesses of the community of believers. The appeal to carry out the work of the New Evangelization leads to changes in the general concept of pastoral work. It is essential to turn ‘inherited’ Christianity into ‘proposed’ Christianity and pastoral work that is concentrated on administering sacraments into the one that awakens and develops faith. In order to show faith as a personal relation with God more successfully the chaplaincy should become more missionary and evangelical in its character. The objective of the parish is to make a permanent effort in becoming a real sign, that is the sacrament of the Kingdom of God. Among other things, it should be manifested in the promotion of the new form of ecclesial community that is the community of communities, the communion of services and charismata. The modern ecclesial movements are one of the most effective tools for evangelization available to the Church in the modern world. However, it seems that modern movements and associations that follow the theological renewal after Second Vatican Council are still underestimated and unemployed. A significant contribution to the process of local Church renewal and growth may be also made through the project of evangelization retreat. Another important conclusion is the necessity to highlight the important role of the lay in the apostolic mission of the Church. The involvement of the lay in a Church life should take place through their active participation in liturgy. What is more, they ought to participate in services and assignments to realize the communional parish vision. Creating small basic communities that reveal church communion and become evangelization centres may result in parish activation and renewal, and at the same time practicing cooperation between the shepherds and the lay. A parish community understood as a cooperation between the clergy and the laity becomes the real sign of the Church.
