Opis:
The synthesis and physicochemical properties of new vanadium(IV) complex of formula [VO(L)(phen)] is described. The L denotes ONO tridentate Schiff base derived from 2,3-dihydroxybenzaldehyde and phenylacetic hydrazide, while phen = 1,10-phenanthroline used as a co-ligand to stabilize the V(IV) oxidation state. The single crystal X-Ray crystal structure indicates on octahedral geometry of vanadium centre, with 1,10-phenanthroline nitrogen trans to the V=O bond. The complex crystalizes in a monoclinic P21/c space group, very unusual is that only one isomer is present in the crystal structure. The structure is stabilized by very weak hydrogen bonds and H··π and π···π interactions. The phenyl ring of hydrazide is strongly curved from ONO ligand plane by 70.95˚. The spectroscopic characterization (IR, UV-Vis) as well as the cyclic voltammetry measurements are presented and discussed

The automotive industry is one of the most important sectors for Polish total exports and imports in terms of value, as well as the factor of trade intensity trade. The paper is aimed at verifying the hypothesis according to which the sector covered in this research does not strengthen the capital intensity of Polish exports and fosters international division of labour between centres and semi-peripheries. Thus, the issues raised here are considered in the context of the middle income trap. The author analysed trade streams in Polish exports and imports through the changes in their structure, evolution of revealed comparative advantages (RCA), import penetration (IMP), revealed advantages in trade (RTA), trade balance and the level of intra-industry trade (IIT) together with an attempt to distinguish the shares of vertical and horizontal exchange. For the purpose of the research, data at the 4- and 6-digit disaggregation level of the Harmonised System were used. As a middle income country Poland is still an attractive location for foreign investments of multinational companies. However, it may preserve the developmental gap. This may be proven by the structure of the trade in the sector covered: cars and parts and accessories of motor vehicles are the most dominant sections, which is consistent with the level of revealed comparatives advantages and revealed advantages in trade. What is also worth noticing are the trade relations with Germany, where one can easily identify a technological dependency.
Sektor samochodowy jest jedną z najważniejszych branż decydujących o wielkości ogółem zarówno polskiego eksportu, jak i importu, również gdy uwzględni się kwestię czynnikochłonności samej wymiany. Osią analizy jest hipoteza, zgodnie z którą badana branża nie jest czynnikiem wzmacniającym kapitałochłonność polskiego eksportu i utrwala specyfikę międzynarodowego podziału pracy (centrum – semiperyferie). Dlatego rozważania podjęte w artykule wpisują się także w kontekst pułapki średniego rozwoju. Autor przeanalizował zmiany strumieni handlowych w polskim eksporcie i imporcie w ujęciu ich struktury, ewolucji ujawnionych przewag komparatywnych, penetracji importowej, ujawnionej przewagi w handlu, cząstkowego salda bilansu handlowego oraz poziomu wymiany wewnątrzgałęziowej wraz z próbą rozróżnienia wymiany wewnątrzgałęziowej poziomej i pionowej. W badaniu wykorzystano dane źródłowe na 4- oraz 6-cyfrowym poziomie dezagregacji w oparciu o Nomenklaturę Scaloną. Polska jako kraj o średnim poziomie dochodu stanowi wciąż atrakcyjne miejsce inwestycji dla międzynarodowych korporacji, co może utrwalać lukę rozwojową. Potwierdza to struktura wymiany, w której oprócz gotowych pojazdów wysoki udział mają części i akcesoria samochodowe, co jest spójne z poziomem ujawnionych przewag komparatywnych i ujawnionych przewag w handlu. Z kolei w relacjach z Niemcami zauważalne jest wyraźne uzależnienie technologiczne.

Opis:
Działalność gospodarcza opiera się na wykorzystaniu zasobów naturalnych, kapitałowych i ludzkich (społecznych). We wcześniejszych ujęciach określano je także jako tzw. czynniki wzrostu gospodarczego w postaci ziemi, kapitału i pracy. Ostatnio wyodrębnia się również technologię lub przedsiębiorczość – czyli umiejętności łączenia tych podstawowych czynników. Celem artykułu jest zaprezentowanie modelu powiązań gospodarki z naturą oraz analiza wpływu ograniczoności zasobów naturalnych na rozwój społeczno-gospodarczy w ujęciu tzw. słabej i mocnej trwałości rozwoju, z rozróżnieniem kryzysu wydobycia i kryzysu zaopatrzenia.
The paper presents a discussion on the natural resources and the conditions of their exploitation in time of scarcity of certain resources and the renewable character of others. In particular, the paper focuses on the interconnection of the economy and the environment with the application of formulae describing relationships between the primary and secondary resources, waste and consumption. Further on, the author proceeds with the presentation of the impact made by the limited resources on social and economic development along the weak and strong sustainability of development approach, making a distinction between the crisis of exploitation and the crisis of supply. In the analysis, the author used various statistical data on the production of major resources and power generation in the world, and the use of primary energy carriers in Poland.

Opis:
Pure titanite is a mineral with chemical composition $CaTiSiO_{5}$. Its structure consists of corner linked $TiO_{6}$-octahedra, $SiO_{4}$-tetrahedra and sevenfold coordinated Ca positions. In nature various impurities like U and Th can be incorporated in the structure showing alpha and beta radiation. On meta-mictization, a process which occurs in nature when a mineral is exposed to radioactive irradiation, strong modifications of the structure are observed. Recoil processes due to alpha radiation change over geological time scales the originally periodically structured material into a quasi-amorphous state with persisting short-range order but destroyed long-range order. We report IR and Raman spectra as well as X-ray diffraction data of meta-mict and heat treated titanite from the Cardiff mine, Canada. IR as well as the Raman modes are strongly broadened in the meta-mict material and sharpen on annealing. The OH-stretching mode at 3486 $cm^{-1}$ indicates strong changes in the local environment of OH in meta-mict titanite. The appearance of the Raman excitations between 620 and 750 $cm^{-1}$ in meta-mict titanite, which in IR spectra are due to Ti-O stretching from $TiO_{6}$ octahedra, indicates the breakdown of the Raman selection rules. This points to the breaking of the octahedral symmetry of $TiO_{6}$ polyhedra.

The Laplace operator is a differential operator which is used to detect edges of objects in digital images. This paper presents the properties of the most commonly used third-order 3x3 pixels Laplace contour filters including the difference schemes used to derive them. The authors focused on the mathematical properties of the Laplace filters. The basic reasons of the differences of the properties were studied and indicated using their transfer functions and modified differential equations. The relations between the transfer function for the differential Laplace operator and its difference operators were described and presented graphically. The impact of the corner elements of the masks on the results was discussed. This is a theoretical work. The basic research conducted here refers to a few practical examples which are illustrations of the derived conclusions.We are aware that unambiguous and even categorical final statements as well as indication of areas of the results application always require numerous experiments and frequent dissemination of the results. Therefore, we present only a concise procedure of determination of the mathematical properties of the Laplace contour filters matrices. In the next paper we shall present the spectral characteristic of the fifth order filters of the Laplace type.

Dans Rue du pardon, Mahi Binebine nous donne à lire un conte merveilleux où l’enfant affronte la laideur de son milieu impitoyable et la monstruosité de ses parents défaillants et coupables d’une double transgression. Ces épreuves transforment le conte en roman et l’enfant exposé (abandonné à son sort) en être émancipé. Après l’expérience du rejet et l’épreuve traumatisante du viol, l’héroïne, sauvée et guidée par la diva Serghinia, trouve dans les arts de la scène (la danse et le chant) un refuge salvateur et, surtout, une voix qui lui permet de dire et d’exorciser l’abjection. Le corps féminin maltraité est resculpté pour devenir une œuvre d’art vivante. Comme dans d’autres romans, notamment L’Ombre du poète, Terre d’ombre brûlée et Le Seigneur vous le rendra, Mahi Binebine, dans Rue du pardon, met l’artiste au centre de la représentation. Cet article essaie de montrer comment le romancier, réhabilitant la chikha, une figure artistique féminine du patrimoine populaire marocain, promeut un féminisme discret où l’art devient un moyen d’accès à la liberté et une dénonciation de l’hypocrisie sociale.
In Rue du pardon (Street of Forgiveness), Mahi Binebine presents us with a marvellous tale in which a child confronts the ugliness of his pitiless environment and the monstrosity of his failing parents, guilty of a double transgression. These trials transform the tale into a novel, and the exposed child (abandoned to his fate) into an emancipated being. After the experience of rejection and the traumatic ordeal of rape, the heroine, saved and guided by the diva Serghinia, finds in the performing arts (dance and song) a saving refuge and, above all, a voice that enables her to express and exorcise abjection. The abused female body is resculpted into a living work of art. As in other novels, notably L'Ombre du poète, Terre d'ombre brûlée and Le Seigneur vous le rendra, Mahi Binebine's Rue du pardon places the artist at the center of representation. This article attempts to show how the novelist, by rehabilitating the chikha, a female artistic figure from Morocco's popular heritage, promotes a discreet feminism in which art becomes a means of access to freedom and a denunciation of social hypocrisy.

Opis:
The role played by the magnetostatic interaction in mesoscopic multichannel systems is discussed. We show that the interaction of currents from different channels, when taken in the selfconsistent mean field approximation, leads to selfinductance terms in the Hamiltonian producing an internal magnetic flux. Such multichannel systems can exhibit spontaneous flux or flux expulsion. The dependence of these phenomena on the parameters of the system is discussed.

The results of the epoxidation of 2-buten-1-ol with 30 wt% hydrogen peroxide have been presented. As a solvent methanol was used. The process was carried out over the titanium silicalite catalysts: Ti-MCM-41 and Ti-MCM-48. The influence of temperature (20 - 120°C). the molar ratio of CRA/H2O2 (5:1 - 5:1), methanol concentration (5 - 90 wt%), catalyst concentration (0.1 - 5.0 wt%) and the reaction time (30 -300 min) was investigated. The obtained results were used for the determination of optimum conditions of running the epoxidation process of 2-buten-1-ol.

Collective phenomena due to persistent currents in carbon multiwall nanotubes are studied. The formula for persistent currents minimising free energy and conditions for the stability of persistent currents in multiwall nanotubes in magnetic field are derived. Numerical calculations performed show the possibility of obtaining spontaneous currents in two optimal configurations: undoped armchair-only multiwall nanotubes up to 0.01 K, and zig-zag-chiral-chiral-zig-zag multiwall nanotubes doped to -3.033 eV up to about 1 K. The latter configuration may exhibit also the diamagnetic expulsion of magnetic field, which according to our calculations can reach 20% of the external flux.

Opis:
W pracy wykorzystano metodę płaszczyzny odpowiedzi w celu zoptymalizowania biosyntezy 2,3-butanodiolu przez szczep Bacillus licheniformis NCIMB 8059. Oceniono wpływ stężenia ekstraktu drożdżwego oraz jonów CH3COO", Fe2+i Mn2+ na końcową zawartość 2,3-butanodiolu w płynie pohodowlanym. Doświadczenie optymalizacyjne zaprojektowano w oparciu o plan D-optymalny obejmujący 25 wariantów hodowli. Zaobserwowano istotny (p < 0,05) wpływ stężenia ekstraktu drożdżowego oraz jonów CH3COO" i Mn2+na syntezę diolu. Na podstawie analizy statystycznej uzyskano optymalne wartości analizowanych zmiennych, wynoszące (g-dm3): ekstrakt drożdżowy - 4, CH3COONH4- 4, FeS04-7H20 - 0,1 oraz MnS04-H20 - 0,3, które odpowiadały końcowemu stężeniu 2,3-butanodiolu na poziomie 8,9 g-dm-3.
Response surface method was used in this work in order to optimise the biosynthesis of 2,3-butanediol by strain Bacillus licheniformis NCIMB 8059. The effect of yeast extract and concentration of CH3COO", Fe2+and Mn2+ ions was evaluated on the final level of 2,3-butanediol in fermentation broth. The optimisation experiment was planned according to D-optimal design and consisted of 25 runs. Obtained results showed significant influence (p < 0,05) of the yeast extract, CH3COO" and Mn2+ concentration on the studied process. On the basis of statistic analysis, optimal values of analyzed variable were determined as follows (g-dm3): yeast extract - 4, CH3COONH4 - 4, FeS04-7 HzO - 0,1, MnS04-H20 - 0,3, that corresponded to 8,9 g-dm-3 final 2,3-butanediol concentration.

Opis:
Amyloid β (Aβ) is the subject of numerous studies due to its link to the devastating Alzheimer’s disease and it exists in a parallel structure in fibril aggregate. The Iowa mutant (D 23 N) Aβ posses a unique antiparallel fibril aggregate structure and can also form parallel structure. This structural difference, coupled with the fact that occurrence of the Iowa mutant is correlated with early onset Alzheimer’s, suggests to use these peptides as candidates for computational studies of the structural determinants of the toxicity of Alzheimer’s disease. In order to compare the two observed Aβ structural motifs, we designed a computational study to probe the factors that affect the stability of parallel and antiparallel aggregates. Since the structural changes may occur on a timescale beyond that sampled in traditional molecular dynamics (MD), we employed a techniques of scaling the mass to reduce the solution ’s viscosity and compared the results to regular molecular dynamics. The knowledge gained from this study could provide insight into the mechanism of selection for antiparallel and parallel two fold structures.

Opis:
Epoxidation of crotyl alcohol (CA) with 30 wt% hydrogen peroxide over Ti-MWW catalyst has been studied with methanol as a solvent and at autogenic pressure. The influence of temperature in the range of 20 – 120oC, the molar ratio of CA/H2O21:1-5:1, methanol concentration 5 – 90 wt%, Ti-MWW catalyst concentration 0.0 – 5.0 wt% and the reaction time 5 – 300 min have been studied. The main product of CA epoxidation is 2,3-epoxybutane-1-ol (2,3EB1O), a compound with many applications.

Aim of the project was to test 23 strawberry cultivars in the climate of Poland and evaluate their economic value. 13 of discussed cultivars were newly bread in Poland and 10 are of foreign origin including cultivars that were never tested in East–Central Europe. All of these cultivars were evaluated in comparison to the 4 standard cultivars used in Poland. The experiment was conducted between 2004 and 2011 in central Poland in the Research Institute of Horticulture in Skierniewice. The data were analyzed using linear mixed model. The results shows that cultivar ‘Paladyn’ performed exceptionally well regarding yield and fruit size. Thus, it is one of the best cultivars for including into canon strawberry cultivars, not only in Poland. The rest of tested cultivars, especially those with foreign origin, may need specific treatment or more investigation to accomplish more in the climatic conditions of this geographical region.
