This paper is an attempt to describe the influence of digitization of the contemporary world on the language by analyzing some metaphors of the Internet. It refers to various theories concerning the ways of perceiving and understanding the world, and its linguistic interpretation. It enumerates some cognitive processes and as consequence conceptual constructs, such as e.g. category, frame, metaphor, imaginative schemes such as figure-ground structure, radial structures, relational structures, mental spaces, and arrives to the experience, the conceptualization and definition of meaning as not only the conceptual content, but also as one of the ways to build that content. It also mentions the notion of linguistic image of the world with respect to the virtual reality and all the social and linguistic changes that result from it.

Siamo abituati ad osservare la persona e l’insegnamento di Gesù dal punto di vista profetico: in Gesù, vale a dire, si realizzarono tutte la profezie veterotestamentarie. È plausibile affermare che in Lui si siano compiuti anche gli scritti sapienziali dell’Antico Testamento? La Bibbia ebraica usa diversi termini per esprimere l’idea della sapienza, tra questi, i più usati sono quelli con radice ḥkm, che si riferiscono tanto alla sapienza e alle capacità umane quanto alla sapienza che proviene da Dio. Nel corso della storia del pensiero veterotestamentario l’idea della sapienza fu personificata e immaginata come un essere di sesso femminile: una donna giovane che attira l’attenzione dei giovani, una donna vecchia che conosce bene la vita, una sorella, una moglie o una fidanzata. Nei testi biblici si possono notare delle tensioni nell’immagine della sapienza personificata: infatti Essa è contemporaneamente umana e divina, creata ed eterna. Queste tensioni sono l’evidente testimonianza di come gli agiografi intuissero che nella Sapienza Divina c’era molto più di quanto la loro fede monoteistica permettesse loro di esprimere e cioè il mistero della Sapienza Divina che sarà poi rivelato nel Nuovo Testamento: Gesù Cristo che col suo insegnamento, portò alla perfezione la sapienza umana, e nel contempo rivelò se stesso quale vera Sapienza di Dio personificata.

The traditional interpretation of Eleatism has it (1) that Melissus was a disciple of Parmenides (albeit with some divergences) and (2) that Parmenides believed in the timeless eternity of Being. It seems, on the contrary, (3) that Melissus acknowledged the reality of time by conceiving eternity as infinite time. Failing to justify this particular divergence from Parmenides’ approach, certain authors held that it was necessary to reinterpret the Melissan eternity as a form of infinite timelessness. This paper attempts to demonstrate that this reading is groundless and that if the traditional interpretation is questioned then one should reconsider the assumptions (1) and (2) but not (3).

When commenting on Aristotle Ph. 1.3, 187a1, Simplicius in Ph. 1.3, 146, 29–147,2 establishes an equivalence between the shining «silver egg» (ὤεον ἀργύφεον) of Orpheus (fr. 70 Kern) and the Parmenidean being or, rather, one of the determinations with which Parmenides, in the section of his Poem devoted to the so-called Way of Truth, indicates the ἐόν, i.e., «resembling the mass of a well-rounded sphere» (εὐκύκλου σφαίρης ἐναλίγκιον ὄγκωι – DK 28 B 8.43). The equivalence established here is found in the great digression about Parmenides (in Ph. 142, 28–148, 24), where Simplicius puts forward an interpretation of Parmenides that identifies the Parmenidean being-one (τὸ ἓν ὄν) with the intelligible (τὸ νοητόν), which, in another passages of the same commentary, is also qualified with the metaphysical concept of “unified” (τὸ ἡνωμένον) that is taken from Damascius. The aim of the present paper is to trace back the Neo-Platonic assumptions of this identification. In particular, we will focus on Damascius Pr. 2.55.40, 14–19 and 3.123.160, 1–3 Westerink, since these passages contain insights into the Orphic theology that is referred to as “usual”, “common” or “rhapsodic”, as well as a contextual “translation” of various Orphic concepts (e.g. ὤεον ἀργύφεον) in terms of Neo-Platonic metaphysics. The metaphysical transposition of the mythical image of the silver egg goes back, however, to Proclus (in Ti. 1.428, 8–9), who assumes the identity between Plato’s being (“being in the primary sense”, τὸ πρώτως [...] ὄν) and the Orphic egg (ταὐτὸν τό τε Πλάτωνος ὂν καὶ τὸ Ὀρφικὸν ὠόν). One cannot, at the same time, exclude a priori the possibility that the Orphic motif of the silver egg circulated in the Magna Graecia of Parmenides already from at least the 6th century BC. It is possible, as Colli hypothesised, that already Ibycus (who certainly knew Orpheus, fr. 25 Page) betrays a certain knowledge of it in fr. 4.4–5 Page, where we find the expression ἐν ὠέωι ἀργυρέωι. This article demonstrates that Proclus and Damascius embedded the Orphic concept of ὤεον ἀργύφεον into their Neo-Platonic metaphysics by showing its potential for speculative order.

From the moment of his literary debut in 1989, Michele Mari is considered to be the representative of classic tendencies in contemporary Italian literature. One of the most noticeable characteristics of his writing is the presence of autobiographic elements which appear in all his works with different intensity, but also the archaization of style and language, literary references and metaliterary reflexions. This article aims at showing how the 1992 novel La stiva e l’abisso connects two of those aspects of Mari’s writing: intertextuality and literary references to adventure novel genre, as well as it reflects on the role and value of the literature for the contemporary people. It analyses basic narrative instances, that is the narrator, narrative structure, place and time of events, in order to show how they result in metaliterary reflexion.

Opis:
Antonio Tabucchi is one of the most representative authors of contemporary Italian literature. His output includes a short story for children entitled Isabella e l’ombra, which was illustrated by Isabella Staino and to whom the story is dedicated. Instead of relying on words to write short texts at school, the main character, a little girl named Isabella, uses colours and explains their chromatic compositions to the teacher. Undoubtedly, the writer’s pedagogical intention behind this story is for young readers to understand that literary expression does not occur only by writing but also through images and colours that can transmit as many emotions as written texts do. Moreover, the text, which can be considered a Bildungsroman for children, touches upon some topics visible in other novels and stories by Tabucchi. This paper aims to analyse the way in which Tabucchi shares some of his existential ideas with a non-adult audience, particularly regarding the relationship between various forms of language, the symbolism of colours, the power of visual communication, and the importance of such feelings as sadness, affection, and generosity.
Antonio Tabucchi è uno degli scrittori più rappresentativi della letteratura italiana contemporanea. Nella sua vasta produzione letteraria trova posto anche un breve racconto per l’infanzia, Isabella e l’ombra, accompagnato da una serie di illustrazioni eseguite dalla pittrice Isabella Staino, a cui il racconto è dedicato. La protagonista, una bambina di nome Isabella, invece di usare le parole per scrivere i propri pensierini a scuola usa i colori, in tutte le loro diverse tonalità, e spiega le sue composizioni cromatiche ad una maestra perplessa ed impressionata. È indubbio che con questo racconto lo scrittore intenda insegnare ai suoi piccoli lettori che l’espressione letteraria non avviene solamente attraverso la scrittura, ma può realizzarsi anche attraverso le immagini e i colori, i quali trasmettono emozioni quanto e forse più di un testo scritto. Inoltre il testo, che può essere definito un romanzo di formazione rivolto ai bambini, tocca tutte le tematiche dei grandi romanzi e racconti tabucchiani. In questo articolo si vuole analizzare il modo in cui Tabucchi intende trasmettere alcune delle sue idee esistenziali ad un pubblico non adulto, in particolar modo in relazione al rapporto tra le varie forme di linguaggio, alla simbologia dei colori, alla potenza della comunicazione visiva e all’importanza di alcuni sentimenti come la tristezza, l’affetto e la generosità.

Dante and the Function of Water for an Investigation of the Self. Psychosymbolic Cosmology in the Divine Comedy The famous Epistle to Cangrande written by Dante encourages us to identify the Divine Comedy as an emblematic representation of a psychotherapeutic itinerary. The principal aim of his work is in fact creating a shocking poetic impression for freeing everyone from anxiety and pain, bringing us back to the origin of that eternal joy, which was lost through the Edenic sin, by creating the jail of egoism and the consequential abandon of a global and satisfactory perception of life. Associating itself with the feminine side of the soul and the mystery of the generation of life, the water symbolism in Dante’s poem acquires various meanings and is mainly connected with the malignant or positive rivers, which directly or indirectly indicate the right orientation for going back to the splendid sea of joy: the sea of divine intellect. This last is heaven, and corresponds to a psychic state where we can live together with the vivid memories of all the best we have experienced, learned and discovered during our mortal existence. Hell is a symbol of anguish and despair; here, a psychic emblem of a potential positive transformation is constituted by a little, apparently unimportant brook, which is studied in depth for the first time in this article, revealing the fundamental importance of this emblem, capable of guaranteeing a possible defeat of evil or, more specifically, the transformation of its destructive energy into a positive magic power, which can lead us to the stars. The whole journey of the Divine Comedy appears now more clearly as a symbolic example of ante litteram psychoanalysis.

II Concilio Vaticano II ha portato una concezione nuova del matrimonio, mettendo l’accento sulla relazione interpersonale e sull’amore, chiamando il matrimonio con la formula intima communita  vitae et amoris coniugalis e portando sicuramente una piu equilibrata valutazione degli elementi dei matromio che sono l’amore ed il suo aspetto procreativo. Esclusione dell’amore chiamato dal Codice dell’83 esclusione dei „bonum coniugum” definito dalla dottrina e dalla giurisprudenza come „communitas vitae” oppure la relazione interpersona le che si crea tra i coniugi è l’esempio della simulazione parziale di tratta questo articolo. Come causa simulandi viene presentata l’immaturità affettiva che tradizionalmente viene interpretata dagli autori come causa dell’incapacità descritta dal canone 1095 CIC. Visto, però, che presentata anomalia distrugge soprattutto ogni possibilità di creare una relazione interpersonale tra i nubenti crediamo che essa possa essere interpretata come causa simulandi dell’esclusione del „bonum coniugum” fatta implicite.

Considered one of the leading proponents of natural theology in the 20th century, E. L. Mascall (1905–1993) taught philosophy and theology at King’s College London for most of his career. Unlike many of his contemporaries, he insisted that classical theism, embodied in the writings of Augustine and Thomas Aquinas, could be successfully revived for a modern audience. Known for his vigorous defense of neo-Thomism, Mascall offered an unusual interpretation of The Five Ways. While modern scholastics typically read the proofs as syllogistic exercises, Mascall maintained that God’s existence could not be deduced from premises, but must be grasped by means of a unique type of “metaphysical intuition” which he called “contuition.” In my paper, I will re-examine his position, explore his reasons for adopting it, and finally raise several questions concerning its significance for the history of neo-Thomism.

Vincenzo Consolo, in one of his interviews, said that painting is counterbalance to style in his artistic work. In fact, the fine art is a frequent motif appearing in his works. The novel titled L’olivo e l’olivastro is a great example of this kind of narration since one of the chapters depicts Caravaggio’s stay in Siracusa, as well as the consequences of this fruitful visit. Taking into account the way an olive and a wild olive sprout from the same trunk, so as to be the symbol of everything that is cultivated and what is wild, it should be noted that in the same way the heroes in Caravaggio’s paintings have the features that characterize both human beings and animals. This split is present constantly in artistic work of Caravaggio who broke the cardinal rules set out in painting. As a result, he was called both a scandalmonger and the author of the first painting transgression, as well as a highly provocative artist. Vincenzo Consolo’s prose is thought-provoking and encourages reflection on relativity of goodness and beauty in the real world which is depicted as disappointing.
