Opis:
This paper aims to profile Brazilian Information Science journals and compare their quality and impact indicators, be these traditional or altmetrics indicators. It is an exploratory and descriptive research, with quantitative analysis of 23 journals, analysed in accordance with their Qualis (2013-6) assessment, their h and g indices from Google Scholar Metrics and their altmetrics data from Facebook for the period 2011 to 2016. The Qualis assessment was obtained from the Sucupira Platform, the indices from Harzing’s Publish or Perish, and the altmetrics through the Facebook Application Programming Interface (API). The results show that the journals were created between 1972 and 2011, that they are edited by universities and that the most adopted frequency of publication is biannual (52%), followed by quarterly (39%). Regarding the national quality indicator Qualis, 73% of the journals fall within the higher stratum of B1 to A1. Regarding impact, 30.4% of the journals have an h-index greater than 10, and only 13% have a g-index greater than 20. Regarding their altmetrics, 34.7% have a Facebook altmetric value greater than 1,000 interactions. It can be concluded that the position of the journals vary if applied to the Qualis assessment system, the h and g indices and Facebook altmetrics. The journal that displays the greatest coincidence between the national index, and those of Google Scholar Metrics and the Facebook altmetrics was Encontros Bibli which is classed as Qualis A2, h-index 11 and g-index 17, and 2,261 interactions on Facebook.

The study presents digital games (including serious games) as a medium of communication, considered as one of the subjects in media studies. Under certain conditions, games are suitable for the effective transfer of theoretical and practical knowledge which, in turn, might affect the users. The theoretical paper looks at digital games from the perspective of their evolution. It illustrates the ways in which digital games have become a subject for communication and media researchers.

Artykuł jest próbą ukazania teleinformatyki w aspekcie inicjatyw ministerialnych mających wpływ na proces nauczania, w którym wykorzystujemy przygotowanie projektowe. Jedną z najważniejszych kwestii dla nauczyciela w procesie nauczania jest podniesienie umiejętności i wiedzy wychowanków. Odpowiednio zaplanowany proces dydaktyczny oparty na metodach projektowych może znacząco poprawić wyniki uczniów na egzaminach zawodowych. Publikacja opisuje charakterystykę definicyjną teleinformatyki w nawiązaniu do inicjatyw Ministerstwa Edukacji Narodowej oraz Ministerstwa Nauki i Szkolnictwa Wyższego, następnie ukazuje przegląd projektów teleinformatycznych w nawiązaniu do procesu nauczania. Zostały również przedstawione szczegółowo dwa projekty naukowe jako modelowe przykłady zaawanso-wania teleinformatycznego uczniów. Zrozumienie odpowiedniego sposobu kreowania procesu dydaktycznego na podstawie ade-kwatnego wykorzystania projektów teleinformatycznych może mieć niebagatelny wpływ na przy-rost motywacji naukowej wśród uczniów.
This article attempts to disclose the ICT in the aspect of the ministerial initiatives influencing the process of teaching where project preparation is implemented. One of the most important things for teacher in the process of teaching is to enhance students’ skills and knowledge. The didactic process that is properly planned based on project methods can significantly improve students’ vocational examination results. This paper describes definition characteristics of the ICT in relation to the initiatives of Min-istry of National Education and Ministry of Science and Higher Education, it further presents a review of ICT projects in relation to the process of teaching. Two academic projects were also described in details as model samples of students’ ICT advancement. Understanding of the right way of creating the didactic process, based on adequate use of ICT projects, may have substantial impact on raising educational motivation among students.

Potrzeba tworzenia komunikatów pojawia się we wszystkich aspektach życia i świadomej aktywności człowieka, na każdym etapie jego rozwoju. Poprzez tworzone znaki powstające w złożonych strukturach, przekazywane są sygnały komunikacyjne, świadczące o konieczności socjalizowania się, w rodzinie, środowisku, społeczności etnicznej, czy kulturowej. Warunkiem dobrej komunikacji, płynnego przepływu informacji, jest świadomość grupowa i wysokie kompetencje zespołu projektowego. Korzystanie z jednego systemu komunikacyjnego ułatwia współpracę i eliminuje potencjalne błędy. W artykule przedstawiono okoliczności korzystania z narzędzi komunikacji w określonych sytuacjach, na wielu poziomach percepcji, w wielu kontekstach przedmiotowych, w subiektywnym odbieraniu i przekazywaniu informacji, na poziome wypracowanych technicznych komunikatorów, stosowanych w działaniach określonych grup. Wszystkie przedstawione przykłady narzędzi komunikacji dotyczą osobistych doświadczeń, doznanych w ostatnim czasie przez autorkę artykułu, w obszarze nauki, sztuki, kultury, techniki i nowych technologii, oraz osobistych refleksji nad zmiennością i ogromem współcześnie generowanych kodów i systemów komunikowania się.
The need to create messages is present in all aspects of live and conscious activities of man, at each stage of human development. The signs created in complex structures transfer communication signals which display the necessity of socialisation in a family, surroundings, ethnic or cultural communities. The condition for good communication and smooth flow of information is collective consciousness and high competence of the designing team. The use of one communication system facilitates cooperation and removes potential errors. The article presents the circumstances of using communication tools in specific situations, at numerous levels of perception, in many objective contexts, in subjective receipt and transfer of information, at the level of developed technical communicators, applied in the activities of specific groups. All presented examples of communication tools refer to personal experience that has been recently gained by the author of the article in the fields of science, art, culture, engineering and new technologies, as well as personal reflection on the changeability and magnitude of communication codes and systems generated in our times.

This paper presents a general view of a proposal for a digital reinterpretation of a collection of scientific instruments belonging to the Physics Cabinet of the Science Museum of the University of Coimbra. In this cataloging, the local and global aspects of each instrument are inventoried and represented by a semantic network of concepts, facts, ideas, and narratives, resulting in a knowledge base about scientific physics instruments. This knowledge base will be made available to students, researchers, and the general public through a mobile phone application. The article also offers a review of the transformations of the conceptual models of material culture studies related to scientific instruments and adds some contributions to this field of study.

This article covers the basic terms in educational sciences in English and their equivalents in Polish, including definitions, difficulties in the selection of appropriate equivalent and linguistic traps which may influence on how the particular term is interpreted in the context of a text it is contained within and both Polish and American/British educational reality. The purpose of this paper is to increase awareness of a Polish reader of educationrelated texts that have been translated from English in terms of issues concerning meanings and interpretation, to make the Polish authors of educationrelated texts more sensitive to such issues and to provide them with a basis to be used when they create their own works which are meant to be populated in the multilingual environment of educationists or when they refer to the English literature in educational sciences in Polish books and articles.

This quasi-experimental study aimed at looking into the effectiveness of blended learning approach in improving the performance in Information, Communication, and Technology (ICT) Course of Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation (BSMT) first year students at JBLFMU-Arevalo during the second semester of school year 2018-2019. The respondents of this research were the two sections comparable with each other who were enrolled in the subject ICT. There were 40 student respondents composed of 20 in the experimental group and 20 in the control group. A validated and reliability-tested 45 item researcher-made multiple choice test was used as an instrument with a Cronbach index of 0.88. The statistical tools used were mean, standard deviation, Mann-Whitney test, and Wilcoxon-Signed ranks test set at .05 level of significance. The effect size was computed to determine the effectiveness of the blended learning approach in terms of students’ performance in ICT. Results showed that in the pretest, though the experimental group had a higher mean score than the control group, the Mann-Whitney test showed that the mean scores of the two groups were comparable because the significant value was greater than .05. When the treatment was introduced, findings showed that there were significant differences in the ICT performance in the pretest and posttest of experimental and control groups as well as in the posttests of both groups. Results inferred that blended learning approach was more than a hundred percent effective showing significant results on the experimental group. It could also be inferred that the better performance of the control group could be attributed to the traditional method of teaching, the lecture method.

The article presents the results of the parametric assessment of research units in the field of pedagogical research carried out in 2017. It outlines the principles and parameters of the assessment and its conditions. This area is covered by science metrics – a new field of comparative research in scientific communication. The article further presents new indicators for the analysis of source documents and proposes a conclusion that is relevant for the modernization of the state scientific policy and the policy of particular organizational units of universities and research institutes.
W artykule przedstawiono wyniki oceny parametrycznej jednostek naukowych z obszaru badań pedagogicznych z roku 2017. Przybliżono zasady i parametry oceny i jej uwarunkowania. Tą problematyką zajmuje się naukometria – nowa dziedzina badań porównawczych w obszarze komunikacji naukowej. Ukazano nowe wskaźniki analizy dokumentów źródłowych. Zwieńczeniem analizy są wnioski istotne do modernizacji praktyki z zakresu polityki naukowej państwa oraz polityki poszczególnych jednostek organizacyjnych uczelni jak też instytutów badawczych.

The article presents conclusions from research data management (RDM) trainings conducted since 2015 as part of the activities of the Open Science Platform, an initiative of the Interdisciplinary Centre for Mathematical and Computational Modelling, University of Warsaw. The aim of the article is to present a training programme and conclusions based on 5 years of experience (in the years 2015–2020 more than 40 workshops and trainings were carried out, face-to-face and online). The frequently asked questions and problems raised by the participants will be discussed. Also, issues addressed during the trainings will be placed in a broader context of changes in scientific communication in Poland, including, in particular, the implementation of openness policies and the development of new research data repositories (as part of the Disciplinary Open Research Data Repositories project). The article will also suggest possible improvements and developments in RDM training.

This article explores a recently discovered phenomenon in the digital landscape, labeled as “zeroculturality.” Unveiled through the author’s recent research in the realms of politics, culture, and communication, zeroculturality represents a transformative shift where cultural boundaries are not only spontaneously vanishing but are also intentionally obliterated. Individuals embodying zeroculturality consciously reject conventional cultural norms while preserving specific values, adapting their identity to synchronize with the dynamic demands of time and place. Essentially, these individuals may discard certain cultural behaviors while retaining the fundamental values associated with them. While not yet pervasive, zeroculturality merits significant consideration, particularly for entities striving to effectively communicate, manage relationships, and disseminate information. Traditional approaches in persuasive communication, grounded in demographics, psychosocial factors, or values, may be losing efficacy. The author’s research on zeroculturality aims to have a practical impact by offering insights that can guide effective communication, business strategies, and political decision-making in the digital age. The article provides a nuanced understanding of how individuals embracing zeroculturality navigate cultural boundaries, offering practical solutions for communicators to engage effectively with this audience. In the business sphere, the research seeks to inform marketers on tailoring strategies to the unique purchasing behaviors of those embodying zeroculturality. Additionally, the author hopes policymakers will leverage these insights to make informed decisions on societal values in the face of evolving cultural norms. Ultimately, the research aims to bridge the gap between academic understanding and practical application, empowering professionals across various sectors to navigate the challenges posed by zeroculturality in the digital era.
Badania, które autorka prowadziła przez ostatnie lata w przestrzeni cyfrowej, pozwoliły jej zidentyfikować nowe zjawisko zarysowujące się na pograniczu świata polityki, kultury i komunikacji. „Zerokulturowość” – jak je nazwała – zasadza się na przekonaniu, iż granice między kulturami nie tylko coraz częściej spontanicznie zanikają, ale także są bardzo świadomie usuwane. Jednostka, nieidentyfikująca się z emanacjami kultury, ale nadal czująca przywiązanie do określonych wartości, próbuje kształtować swoją tożsamość w taki sposób, aby odpowiadała wymogom czasu i miejsca. Innymi słowy, osoby zerokulturowe mogą odmawiać przyjęcia określonych sposobów postępowania (nośników kultury), ale wciąż podzielać wybrane idee czy wartości, z którymi związane były te wzorce. Choć zjawisko bez wątpienia nie jest powszechne, zasługuje na poważną analizę, szczególnie przez te podmioty, które pragną skutecznie komunikować się z odbiorcami, zarządzać relacjami oraz informacją. Dotychczasowe czynniki skuteczności dialogu perswazyjnego, zasadzające się na próbach targetowania na podstawie podstawowych kryteriów demograficznych, psychospołecznych czy argumencie wartości, mogą bowiem wykazywać się coraz mniejszą efektywnością. Niniejszy artykuł ma na celu dostarczenie praktycznych wskazówek pozwalających na usprawnienie procesów komunikacyjnych, strategii biznesowych oraz mechanizmów decyzyjnych w erze cyfrowej. Tekst wyjaśnia, w jaki sposób osoby manifestujące zerokulturowość przekraczają tradycyjne granice kulturowe oraz jak zjawisko to może wpływać na różnorodne procesy w przestrzeni publicznej. W obszarze biznesowym wiedza ta może się okazać cenna dla marketerów, pomagając im w adaptacji strategii zakupowych do wyzwań wynikających z zerokulturowości. W sferze politycznej decydenci mogą wykorzystać ją z kolei do podejmowania bardziej świadomych decyzji, szczególnie tych dotyczących systemu wartości w kontekście zmieniających się norm kulturowych.

Choć „lekarz wiedzy” był koncepcją mówiącą raczej o potrzebie prestiżu i pozycji społecznej niż o istocie zawodu bibliotekarza, idee lekarskich możliwości działania i lekarskiej odpowiedzialności za pacjenta mogą mieć coś wspólnego ze współczesną potrzebą wdrażania procesów „kuratorowanych”, to znaczy wymagających wyjątkowo wnikliwej znajomości przedmiotu i zróżnicowanych metod zarządzania. Dotyczy to wszelkich pól związanych z obiegiem informacji. Za pomocą dwóch dobranych dla przykładu, skomplikowanych tekstów naukowych i wskazaniu, jak może odbywać się wokół nich publiczna dyskusja, w artykule próbuję rozpoznać kluczowe punkty, w których bez mediacji bibliotekarza nauka może generować nieporozumienia lub ulegać marginalizacji. Proponuję też dostrzegać przejawy kuratorowania w różnych działaniach podejmowanych już przez bibliotekarzy. Tekst jest wezwaniem do wzmocnienia naukoznawczych kompetencji bibliotekarzy, szczególnie ze względu na potrzebę rozwijania nauki interdyscyplinarnej i sprawowania opieki nad badaniami, prowadzonymi przez wieloosobowe zespoły, oraz nad tekstami pisanymi zbiorowo przez kilku autorów.
While making a comparison between librarianship and other professions one may conclude that the former has been more and more laden with new responsibilities and new priorities. Though the librarian as the “knowledge physician” was a construct that underlined the need for the prestige and social standing of the profession, rather than focused on the essence of the librarian profession, the idea of quasi medical role of the librarian and nearly doctor-like responsibility for the patient/user can have indeed something to do with today’s need for implementing the so-called “curated” processes, that is the ones that require a particularly insightful and extensive knowledge of the subject and available methods of management. And this applies to all possible areas related to the circulation of information. Within the context of two case examples of complex and complicated scientific texts and an attempt to identify how a public discussion on them can be carried out, this article attempts to identify the key points in which, without the mediation of the librarian, science can generate a string of misunderstandings, fallacies and conceptual incoherencies or become marginalised. In conclusion, the author proposes to strengthen personnel training, policy support, to create an innovative environment, and promote the development of awareness of any possible manifestations of librarian curatorship in a variety of activities that might be undertaken by librarians. Further strengthening of research and knowledge competences of librarians seems inevitable, in particular in view of the need for the development of inter-disciplinary sciences and a particular supervision needed for research conducted by multi-person research teams as well as for collectively written texts authored by a number of researchers.

Public relations is involved in all communication between an organization and the pu-blic. In the contemporary world, PR practitioners have become the facilitators of information. Information and communication technology (ICT) have imposed new rules in the fi eld of public relations. Communication strategy and information management have become crucial parts of modern public relations. People change their habits with regard to the consumption of traditional and new media. The challenges imposed by the development of information and communication technology are also related to understanding the new information so-ciety. For that reason information ethics deals with the ethical implications of dissemination, use, development and safety of information. Public relations follow new information and communication trends, and they need to build fi rm ethical principles for the age of informa-tion. The author examines the ethical implications of the framing concept in public relations.

Prezentowany artykuł wpisuje się w dziedzinę naukoznawstwa. Tekst stanowi streszczenie jednego z rozdziałów rozprawy doktorskiej. Jego celem jest przedstawienie własnych interpretacji tematów poruszanych w czasopismach naukowych ukazujących się w Polsce, a poświęconych zagadnieniom nauki i szkolnictwa wyższego. Analiza tematyczna artykułów pozwoliła wyszczególnić cztery kategorie analityczne: widzialności i produktywności naukowej, normatywizacji polityki naukowej, kapitału komunikacyjnego i anomii dyskursywnej.
This paper relates to the scientific study and is a summary of one of the chapters from my own PhD thesis. The aim of the paper is to present my own interpretations of the content of Polish scientific journals devoted to the issues of science and higher education. The thematic analysis gives a distinction into four analytical categories of visibility and productivity in science, the normativisation of scientific policy, communication capital and discoursive anomie.
