Selection and proper application of business process modeling methods and techniques have a significant impact on organizational improvement capabilities as well as proper understanding of functionality of information systems that shall support activity of the organization. A number of business process modeling notations were popularized in practice in recent decades. Most significant of the notations include Business Process Modeling Notation (OMG BPMN) and several Unified Modeling Language (OMG UML) extensions. In this paper, the assessment whether one of the most flexible and strictly standardized contemporary business process modeling notations, i.e. Rational UML Profile for Business Modeling, enable business analysts to prepare business models that are all-embracing and understandable by all the stakeholders. After the introduction, methodology of research is discussed. Section 2 presents selected case study results. The paper is concluded with a summary.

Opis:
The paper is characterized by efforts to create a business model of enterprise software and technical documentation. The author points out that the overriding factor is to identify actions to modeling, which defines the scope of the project. In mapping the organization and construction of scenarios of business processes is of paramount importance dictionary of phrases and descriptions of domain rules of correctness for the recording and processing. The author describes the key process models, partial (procedures) and elementary (the workflow map.) This indicates the suitability of BPMN and UML notation in the record of the mapping rules and modalities for the functioning of the organization and in the description of static and dynamic structure of the system. Pointing to the integration of business process management system architecture author assesses the suitability of the chosen modeling notation.
Artykuł charakteryzuje działania mające na celu utworzenie biznesowego modelu przedsiębiorstwa oraz dokumentacji technicznej oprogramowania. Autor dowodzi, że nadrzędnym czynnikiem działań jest określenie celu modelowania, który definiuje zakres projektu. W odwzorowaniu organizacji i budowie scenariuszy procesów biznesowych fundamentalne znaczenie ma słownik zwrotów dziedzinowych i opis reguł poprawności dotyczących zapisu i przetwarzania danych. Autor opisuje modele procesów głównych, cząstkowych (procedury) oraz elementarnych (mapę przepływu pracy). Wskazuje na przydatność notacji BPMN i UML w zapisie odwzorowującym zasady i sposoby funkcjonowania organizacji oraz w opisie statycznej i dynamicznej struktury systemu informatycznego. Wskazując na integrację procesu zarządzania biznesowego z architekturą systemu informatycznego, autor dokonuje oceny przydatności wybranych notacji w zakresie modelowania.

Opis:
Business process modeling in software engineering is the activity of representing processes of an enterprise, so that the current process may be analyzed and improved in the future. One of the most significant formal notations used commonly to create descriptions of business process models is BPMN which stands for Business Process Modeling Notation. This notation provides set of formalisms that are readily understandable by all business stakeholders yet able to represent complex process semantics. These business stakeholders include the business analysts who create and refine the processes, the technical developers responsible for implementing the processes, and the business managers who monitor and manage the processes. The BPMN specification provides a mapping between the graphics of the notation to the underlying constructs of execution languages, particularly (BPEL) Business Process Execution Language.

Procesy biznesowe wykonywane są przez agentów, którzy podejmują decyzje stanowiące o dalszym przebiegu procesu. Wiedza konkretnego wykonawcy może mieć charakter rozmyty z następujących powodów: złożoności otoczenia, ograniczeń ludzkiej percepcji pojmowania świata, stosowania pojęć o wysokim stopniu abstrakcji, opisywania rzeczywistości w językach naturalnych. Celem wzbogacenia modelu realizacji procesu biznesowego jest włączenie logiki rozmytej charakteryzującej warunki, w jakich podejmowane są decyzje wykonawców. Proces biznesowy opisać można następująco: PB = , gdzie: S - zbiór stanów procesu, A - zbiór agentów, W - zbiór warunków logicznych określających przejścia pomiędzy stanami, Froz - zbiór funkcji rozmytych charakteryzujących wiedzę poszczególnych agentów o stanie procesu.
Business processes are realized by agents. Agents make decisions in accordance with their personal knowledge. The knowledge of agents depends on concrete situation and has a fuzzy character. In the business processes context some reasons for fuzziness can be identified: complexity of terms, human preferences and goals, description of reality in natural languages. The epistemic fuzzy logic is used to enrich modelling execution of business process. Business process can modelled as where S is a set of possible states, A is a set of agents engaged in process, W - set of condition describing states change and Ffuz is set fuzzy functions which characterized level of knowledge agents about process.

In the paper the concept of Shared Service Center (SSC) for public administration is introduced. Processes and models of SSC are defined, but from the point of view of one of the main purpose of public administration– delivering public services. It is proposed to, while planning and implementing SSC, not only focus on designing services for organizational units participating in the SSC, but also to design solution for e-services for citizens. So the emphasis should be put, not only on modelling supporting processes just like for planning the implementation of commercial SSC, but also on core processes. Specific legal solutions are also pointed out, which are supporting this concept, from the point of view of organization of SSC (new Polish legislation) and from the point of view of funding the development of SSC (European Union operational programs supporting e-services for A2A and A2C).

Modelowanie procesów biznesowych wyznacza regularne procesy biznesowe i znajduje sposoby na ich ulepszanie. Jest to część praktyki zarządzania procesami biznesowymi. Oprogramowanie do modelowania procesów zapewnia analityczną reprezentację procesów „takich, jakie są” w organizacji i kontrastuje je z „przyszłymi” procesami w celu zwiększenia ich wydajności. Narzędzia do modelowania procesów biznesowych umożliwiają reprezentowanie procesu w sposób cyfrowy, który można następnie zautomatyzować i zaprezentować na żywo.
Modeling of business processes determined by regular business processes and functions of ways to improve them. This is part of the business process management practice. Process modeling software behind some analytical representation of “as-is” processes in organization and in contrast with “future” processes for their performance. The first step in modeling is pen and paper. But to actually run a business process, you need to digitize that process in a way that the workflow engine understands. Modeling tools for business processes that represent a process in a digital way that can be applied to an automated live process.

The growing number of the EU regulations imposes additional administrative burdens on Polish entrepreneurs. However, in Poland no thorough analyses concerning the costs of the burdens resulting from the implementation of such regulations are conducted. Moreover, during the law-making process the benefits of implementing e-services are not assessed either. The aim of the conducted research was to develop a method permitting the assessment of implementing e-services in the course of law-making. The proposed method is based on the process analysis supported by BPMN. The method permits to precisely assess the benefits of digitalization of public services following from the EU regulations, due to application of modeling and simulation analysis, which allows for comparing different versions of implementation of the EU regulations. Presented method has been used in the process of applying for the European account preservation order. The research conducted has proved that digitalization of the order permits the duration of a process to be cut by more than a half compared to traditional (paper) way of completing the procedure. Moreover, it was confirmed that completing procedures electronically is less expensive than traditional way of proceeding. Application of the proposed method allowed for collecting the precise data, which enabled the comparison of the costs of burdens in different variants of EU regulations implementation.

The goal of the paper is to present the results of studies concerning the development of a method of implementation of business processes in Smart Cities systems. The method has been developed during studies carried out within the building of a Smart Cities system for Gdańsk, and is based on basic development project management mechanisms (drawing from best practices, and in particular from the RUP methodology) and business-oriented development principles, where the role of business process modeling is crucial for the implementation of functionalities of IT systems.
Celem artykułu jest prezentacja wyników badań nad opracowaniem metody implementowania procesów biznesowych w systemach Smart Cities. Metoda została opracowana w trakcie badań prowadzonych w ramach budowy systemu Smart Cities dla Gdańska i bazuje na podstawowych mechanizmach zarządzania projektami wytwórczymi (czerpiąc z dobrych praktyk m.in. metodyki RUP) oraz zasadach biznesowo zorientowanego wytwarzania, gdzie rola modelowania procesów biznesowych jest kluczowa dla implementacji funkcjonalności systemów informatycznych.

Autorzy starają się wykazać, że audyt procedur postępowania medycznego w szpitalu wspomaga doskonalenie jakości pracy.
Socio-economic organizations, such as hospitals, want to satisfy their customers (i.e., patients), so they aim to organize their work and ensure high quality of medical services. Evaluation of their work can be supported by organizational procedures audit. The paper aims to present how the business procedures can be improved by usage of business process and business architecture models. Authors argue that medical treatment procedure audit supports improvement of hospital work quality.

Opis:
Better processes produce lower costs, higher revenues, motivated employees, and happier customers. Logistics companies operating on very competitive market are continuously seeking opportunities to ensure the process reliability while improving their productivity. Due to increasing process complexity it is necessary to apply a systematic approach to designing, implementation, monitoring and improvement of processes in the organization. Such approach may be realized through Business Process Management (BPM) techniques and tools. An investment in BPM software, coupled with new approaches to project implementation, enables companies to introduce a sustainable business process improvement program. However,  the  implementation  of BPM is  not  easy because of process complexity and multiplication of interaction specific for each organization.    In this paper we propose some teaching frameworks, that can be used during the education process to enhance the practical skills in BPMN and in the application of process management in the field of logistics. Our solution is based on practical cases and BPM worldwide standards. It provides students with the opportunity to use the BPM suites software in complex environment and practice the techniques of modelling and analyzing processes. The presented framework may address many of requirements of learning environments for business process analysts. In the second part of the article we present also the analysis of students’ (attendants’ of BPM classes) opinions about gaining knowledge and skills on BPM. Performed research indicate that young people were keen on business process modeling classes organized in a form of problem-based laboratories and they would like to use learned BPM methods and tools in their future education or work.
