This paper focuses on trajectory tracking control for ro‐ bot manipulators. While much research has been done on this issue, many other aspects of this field have not been fully addressed. Here, we present a new solution using feedforward controller to eliminate parametric uncer‐ tainties and unknown disturbances. The Takagi‐Sugeno fuzzy descriptor system (TSFDS) is chosen to describe the dynamic characteristics of the robot. The combination of this fuzzy system and the robust H∞ performance makes the system almost isolated from external factors. The li‐ near matrix inequalities based on the theory of Lyapunov stability is considered for control design. The proposed method has proven its effectiveness through simulation results.

Opis:
Nowadays, self-climbing formworks are commonly used in the construction of concrete buildings with a great height, such as high-rise buildings, silos, and bridge piers. A regular formwork can be improved to have more functions, e.g., the formwork itself can climb to the desired construction site. Climbing characteristics of the formwork as well as opening and closing characteristics of the formwork shell are essential criteria for evaluating the performance of a self-climbing formwork. The effective ones were mentioned in different studies, where most of them were published in patents of countries, e.g., the United States and China. Dissimilar from these studies, this paper presents several improvements for some certain groups to enhance the features of a hydraulic self-climbing formwork. Based on the analysis of the composition and the working principle of the actual climbing formwork types, a new opening and closing method of the formwork shells and a new rail clamping device are suggested. They are applied to design a self-climbing formwork with the shell’s working size of 4 m × 3 m. Their load capacity, as well as the flatness of the concrete surface after casting, are assessed. The proposed solutions can result in various advantages, e.g., the shorter initial alignment time, the increase of the quality concrete surface, and the maximal automation for construction operations.

The investigations on the effects of biochar application in improving the physio-chemical properties of soil have been carried out in many studies; however, there are very few studies on the combined use of both biochar and clay-rich soil for poor nutrient soil reclamation. Therefore, this study demonstrates improved water retention and nutrient retention of sandy soil by using biochar and biochar combined with clay-rich soil. The experiments were conducted on a small scale (greenhouse) with nine different application rates of biochar and clay-rich soil were mixed and then cultivated peanut, along with the drip irrigation technique using field moisture limit (about 70-80%) was applied under the condition of ensuring a sufficient supply of NPK for plant’s growth. The results showed that at the rates from 10.0-15.0% (w/w) clay-rich soil mixed with from 0.5-1.5% (w/w) of biochar applied to the tested sandy soil resulted in the positive effects on soil water holding, bulk density, permeability, pH, CEC, OM, total N, total P and peanut yield. The physical and chemical characteristics of the tested sandy soil have been improved by time and the application rate of 10.0% clay-rich soil and 0.5% biochar had the highest efficiency of pod fresh weight and pod dry weight during three studied seasons.

Ganoderma sinense, a well-known medicinal macrofungus of Basidiomycetes, is widely used in traditional medicine for promoting health and longevity in East Asia. The fruiting bodies of G. sinense contain polysaccharides, ergosterol, and coumarin, which have antitumor, antioxidant, and anticytopenia activities. Mushroom cultivation requires suitable conditions for the formation of fruiting bodies and yield. However, little is known about the optimal culture conditions for mycelial growth and cultivation of G. sinense. In this study, the successful cultivation of a G. sinense strain collected from the wild was reported. The optimal culture conditions were identified by examining one factor at a time. The results of this study revealed that the nutritional requirements for the optimal mycelial growth of G. sinense were fructose (15 g/l) as the carbon source and yeast extract (1 g/l) as the nitrogen source. The optimal pH and temperature for G. sinense were 7 and 25–30EC, respectively. The mycelia grew fastest in treatment II (69% rice grains + 30% sawdust + 1% calcium carbonate). G. sinense produced fruiting bodies under all tested conditions and showed the highest biological efficiency (2.95%) in treatment B (96% sawdust, 1% wheat bran, 1% lime). In summary, under optimal culture conditions, G. sinense strain GA21 showed satisfactory yield and a high potential for commercial cultivation.

Materials play an important role in determining the quality and cost of a building, especially in the context of Vietnam’s rapid urbanization today. This study aims to analyze the status quo for supplier selection for construction projects in a developing country, Vietnam. Questionnaires are designed to conduct a survey among several contractors to assess the current situation of how Vietnamese construction enterprises select their material suppliers. Senior managers, project managers, site commanders, site engineers, foreman, office staff of contractors were interviewed. Based on result analysis of 117 valid responses, the most important criteria to consider when selecting material suppliers have been identified, with the most influential ones being price, delivery time, and material quality. However, the supply of materials still reveals some constraints that must be overcome. Vietnamese construction firms should pay more attention to supplier selection to optimize material delivery efficiency. This research contributes to the understanding of the status quo for supplier selection for construction projects in a developing country. This means contractors can adopt suitable measures to select material suppliers for construction projects.

Irrigation and hydropower are among the most important sectors in the construction industry that propel the economic needs of a developing country like Vietnam. The construction of these projects often suffers from severe delays, leading to financial losses and other negative impacts on the economy. This paper aims to determine delay factors in the construction of these projects. Among many, 39 most important candidates of delay causes were identified from the literature review. Further surveys on project participants were conducted for the severity of these causes. An exploratory factor analysis was utilized to identify latent factors that cause delays in construction projects. The analysis result categorized a few groups of factors such as abnormal factors on the construction site (e.g., labor accidents, hydrology, water flow, extreme weather) and technical factors related to the construction contractor (e.g., unsuitable schedule, outdated construction technology, unprofessional workers) that have the greatest impact on the delay in construction of irrigation and hydropower projects in Vietnam. These findings contribute to the body of knowledge of project management and risk management, hence an improvement in the efficiency of the project sectors’ performance.

In this paper, a comparison and evaluation of three resampling methods for gridded DEM is implemented. The evaluation was based on the results of bilinear resampling, bi-cubic and Kriging resampling methods for an experiment using both degraded and sampled datasets at 20 m and 60 m spatial resolutions. The evaluation of the algorithms was accomplished comprehensively with visual and quantitative assessments. The visual assessment process was based on direct comparison of the same topographic features in different downscaled images, scatterplots and profiles. The quantitative assessment was based on the most commonly used parameters for DEM accuracy assessment such as root mean square errors (RMSEs), linear regression parameters m and b, and correlation coefficient R. Both visual and quantitative assessment revealed greater accuracy of the Kriging over the other two conventional methods.

The study has investigated the individual and combined effects of nitrogen and potassium on the growth, grain yield, and quality of quinoa in ferralsols and acrisols. The experiments were conducted during the dry season under rainfed conditions in Central Highland, Vietnam. The factorial design was a randomized complete block design with three replications. The results revealed the positive impacts of nitrogen and potassium on the growth and yield of quinoa. However, after the application of an optimum dose of nitrogen, growth, and yield were not significantly changed and even decreased when the dose continued increasing. Higher levels of nitrogen and potassium application resulted in greater protein and fat content, but lower starch and fiber contents, compared to lower levels. The fertilizer practice has to rely on soil fertility. The study shows that the application of 150 kg N and 105 kg K2O ha-1 could be the optimum rate of nitrogen and potassium for quinoa production in ferralsols and acrisols in Central Highland.

Opis:
Safety of construction needs knowledge of physical parameters as stiffness or porosity of the subsurface environment. Combination of different geophysical methods such as electrical resistivity imaging and multichannel analysis of surface waves can provide distributions of resistivity and shear velocity which are responsible for the underground physical parameters. Their joint interpretation can solve individual problems of none-uniqueness of the solutions when expressing two inversion results to describe environment characteristics. In our work, the k-means clustering method can categorize the two parameters into specific zones that can help to interpret the geophysical data effectively. Our workflow consists of two stages in which two independent geophysical data are inverted and the k-means clustering is applied to the two results for achieving the specified groups. The collocated geophysical data are measured in District 9, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Matching with the geology drillhole information, the joint results generally present layered medium with the upper zone having smaller resistivity and shear velocity values and the bottom zone of stronger stiffness.
In this research, the weld track geometry in wire-arc DED (directed energy deposition) of ER308L stainless steel was predicted and optimized. The studied geometrical attributes of weld tracks include weld track width (WTW), weld track height (WTH), and contact angle (α). The experiment was designed based on Taguchi method with three variables (current I, voltage U, and weld velocity v) and four levels for each variable. The ANOVA was adopted to evaluate the accuracy of the models and impact levels of variables on the responses. The TOPSIS method was utilized to predict the optimal variables. The results indicated that the predicted models were built with high accuracy levels (R2 = 98.92%, 98.77%, and 98.91% for WTW, WTH, and α, respectively). Among the studied variables, U features the highest effects on WTW and α with 78.56% and 69.90% of contribution, respectively, while v is the variable that has the most impact on WTH with 39.82% of contribution. The optimal variables predicted by TOPSIS were U = 23 V, I = 140 A, and v = 300 mm/min, which allows building components with stable and regular geometry.

Opis:
This work focuses on optimizing process parameters in turning AISI 4340 alloy steel. A hybridization of Machine Learning (ML) algorithms and a Non-Dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm (NSGA-II) is applied to find the Pareto solution. The objective functions are a simultaneous minimum of average surface roughness (Ra) and cutting force under the cutting parameter constraints of cutting speed, feed rate, depth of cut, and tool nose radius in a range of 50–375 m/min, 0.02–0.25 mm/rev, 0.1–1.5 mm, and 0.4–0.8 mm, respectively. The present study uses five ML models – namely SVR, CAT, RFR, GBR, and ANN – to predict Ra and cutting force. Results indicate that ANN offers the best predictive performance in respect of all accuracy metrics: root-mean-squared-error (RMSE), mean-absolute-error (MAE), and coefficient of determination (R2). In addition, a hybridization of NSGA-II and ANN is implemented to find the optimal solutions for machining parameters, which lie on the Pareto front. The results of this multi-objective optimization indicate that Ra lies in a range between 1.032 and 1.048 μm, and cutting force was found to range between 7.981 and 8.277 kgf for the five selected Pareto solutions. In the set of non-dominated keys, none of the individual solutions is superior to any of the others, so it is the manufacturer's decision which dataset to select. Results summarize the value range in the Pareto solutions generated by NSGA-II: cutting speeds between 72.92 and 75.11 m/min, a feed rate of 0.02 mm/rev, a depth of cut between 0.62 and 0.79 mm, and a tool nose radius of 0.4 mm, are recommended. Following that, experimental validations were finally conducted to verify the optimization procedure.

Vibration-assisted machining, a hybrid processing method, has been gaining considerable interest recently due to its advantages, such as increasing material removal rate, enhancing surface quality, reducing cutting forces and tool wear, improving tool life, or minimizing burr formation. Special equipment must be designed to integrate the additional vibration energy into the traditional system to exploit those spectacular characteristics. This paper proposes the design of a new 2-DOF high-precision compliant positioning mechanism using an optimization process combining the response surface method, finite element method, and Six Sigma analysis into a multi-objective genetic algorithm. The TOPSIS method is also used to select the best solution from the Pareto solution set. The optimum design was fabricated to assess its performance in a vibration-assisted milling experiment concerning surface roughness criteria. The results demonstrate significant enhancement in both the manufacturing criteria of surface quality and the design approach criteria since it eliminates modelling errors associated with analytical approaches during the synthesis and analysis of compliant mechanisms.

Opis:
In surface mining operations, the operating costs of truck-shovel system constitutes 50-60% of the total. Only a little save in the operation costs in this system will bring large profit for the mines. Due to many investment periods, the capacity of both trucks and shovels in Cao Son surface coal mine is different. This leads to the low efficiency and the difficulty in dispatching strategy for the mine. This paper presents the current situation and selection of advanced dispatching strategy for increasing the efficiency trucks and shovels at this surface coal mine. The results show the detailed match factor reflects the state of each team of loader and trucks and should be use as the indicator for dispatching decision for the heterogeneous truck and shovel fleet at Cao Son surface coal mine.

Vietnam's domestic coal production is growing fast and is expected to reach 68.9 million tons in 2030, nearly 1.5 times higher than today. Open-pit mines will gradually reduce production and close, and underground mining coal output will increase progressively year by year and take a leading role. Besides the investment in new mines to achieve these goals, it is necessary to maximize the coal reserve exploited annually of existing underground mine projects, which its coal reserve in pillars protecting roadways currently accounts for 12−15%. The further exploitation of this coal reserve will decrease the costs of preparation of underground mines and granting mining rights and depreciation of infrastructure assets. Moreover, it will help reduce the loss of non-renewable resources and contributing to the sustainable development of Vietnam’s coal industry.

Opis:
Need of specifying underground construction works for supporting further tasks as maintenance, repairing, or setting up new underground structures. For these needs, ground penetrating radar, one of the efficient geophysical methods, can bring high-resolution and quick underground image revealing existence of both natural and artificial anomalies. Its fixed receiver-transmitter antennas setting as constant offset is commonly used in urban areas. Conventionally, hyperbolae events are crucial indicator for scattering objects as kinds of pipes, water drainage system, and concrete building structures as well as sink holes. Calculation of their depths and sizes requires migration analysis with the environment velocity. Migrated sections with different velocity show different chaos degrees of transformation from a hyperbola diffraction curve to its focused area. We have researched diagrams of different Ground Penetrating Radar attributes as energy, entropy, and varimax dependent on two variables, velocity and window zone covering diffraction events from a set of synthetic data and real data, in specifying the environment velocity. We have developed a novel technique for evaluation of the ground velocity and object’s size by combination of the new varimax diagram and the Kirchhoff migration method. The technique can define contribution of diffracted ground penetrating radar waves for building the diagram after removing the reflection contribution. The synthetic datasets consist of different random background noise levels and expressions of different-sized circular and rectangular pipes. The real data is measured for detecting two underground gas pipes in Ba Ria – Vung Tau province, Vietnam.
Opracowano nową technikę oceny prędkości w gruncie i wielkości obiektu poprzez połączenie nowego diagramu varimax i metody migracji Kirchhoffa.

Opis:
In river sedimentology and bathymetry study, high–resolution seismic approach equipped with a sub–bottom profiler is necessary. Difference of acoustic impedances resulted by varies of sediment stratigraphy layers can be visualized through dynamic seismic vibration. In marine environments, detection of young sediment as sand dunes or mud, mixtures of sand and clay, and clay formations can help policy makers to launch policies or regulations in safety of water transportation as well as civil building infrastructure. We have measured, analyzed, and interpreted an enormous collection of 2D seismic sub-bottom profiles in Can Gio offshore, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam for understanding its shallow subsurface young deposits. Our approach is to combine three key seismic textural attributes (i.e., Correlation, Variance, and Homogeneity) in the representation of color-blended attribute for picking distinguished geological features. In our result, 2D seismic horizons representing boundaries of diverse types of sediments can provide a great input for modeling 3D seabed and distribution of sand, sand-clay mixture, and clay sediments within the interest area. The sand layer useful for mining in this area is strongly affected by channels stemming from Soai Rap river.
W naszym wyniku, poziomy sejsmiczne 2D reprezentujące granice rożnych typów osadów mogą stanowić doskonały materiał wejściowy do modelowania 3D dna morskiego i rozmieszczenia piasku, mieszanki piaskowo-gliniastej i osadów gliniastych w obszarze zainteresowania.

Opis:
The process of removing machining residues using chemical-mechanical slurry (CMS) has an important place in the creation of ultra-precise components in optical devices. Based on this feature, this work investigates the efficiency of the CMS polishing process by comparing the surface reaction modes by the ionic and solid reaction modes when polishing the yttrium aluminum garnet (YAG) and sapphire crystal. The study procedures were conducted to clarify the polishing performance corresponding to these two reaction types. The obtained experiments results show that the balance between the mechanical effect process using CMS polishing technology with chemical effect can be achieved with the ionic reaction mode. The results also show that the ionic surface reaction modes give more uniform material removal than the solid reaction on YAG and sapphire crystal surfaces. Therefore, the surface quality when polished by CMS technology with ionic surface reaction modes is better than that of solid surface reaction.

Opis:
Facial recognition has been one of the most intriguing and exciting research topics over the last few years. It involves multiple face-based algorithms such asfacial detection, facial alignment, facial representation, and facial recognition. However, all of these algorithms are derived from large deep-learning architectures, leading to limitations in development, scalability, accuracy, and deployment for public use with mere CPU servers. Also, large data sets that contain hundreds of thousands of records are often required for training purposes. In this paper, we propose a complete pipeline for an effective face-recognition application that requires only a small data set of Vietnamese celebrities and a CPU for training, solving the problem of data leakage, and the need for GPU devices. The pipeline is based on the combination of a conversion algorithm from face vectors to string tokens and the indexing & retrieval process by Elasticsearch, thereby tackling the problem of online learning in facial recognition. Compared with other popular algorithms on the same data set, our proposed pipeline not only outperforms the counterpart in terms of accuracy but also delivers faster inference, which is essential to real-time applications.

Opis:
Vietnam is an Asian country with hot and humid tropical climate throughout the year. Forests account for more than 40% of the total land area and have a very rich and diverse vegetation. Monitoring the changes in the vegetation cover is obviously important yet challenging, considering such large varying areas and climatic conditions. A traditional remote sensing technique to monitor the vegetation cover involves the use of optical satellite images. However, in presence of the cloud cover, the analyses done using optical satellite image are not reliable. In such a scenario, radar images are a useful alternative due to the ability of radar pulses in penetrating through the clouds, regardless of day or night. In this study, we have used multi temporal C band satellite images to monitor vegetation cover changes for an area in Dau Tieng and Ben Cat districts of Binh Duong province, Mekong Delta, Vietnam. With a collection of 46 images between March 2015 and February 2017, the changes of five land cover types including vegetation loss and replanting in 2017 were analyzed by selecting two cases, using 9 images in the dry season of 3 years 2015, 2016 and 2017 and using all of 46 images to conduct Random Forest classifier with 100, 200, 300 and 500 trees respectively. The result in which the model with nine images and 300 trees gave the best accuracy with an overall accuracy of 98.4% and a Kappa of 0.97. The results demonstrated that using VH polarization, Sentinel-1 gives quite a good accuracy for vegetation cover change. Therefore, Sentinel-1 can also be used to generate reliable land cover maps suitable for different applications.

Opis:
In dimension stone extraction, there have existed many block cutting techniques from intact rock or from a large block to smaller blocks such as disc sawing, chainsawing, diamond wire sawing and splitting techniques, one of which still has recently been used with the other modern methods is splitting techniques. The usage of the splitting methods has still based on the practical experience of mining workers on calculating the spacing of two holes in the co-planar line, resulting in increasing the roughness of the cutting face. The paper studies a relationship between beating force and two-hole spacing based on rock mass properties of dimension stone in order to find proper splitting parameters. The paper deploys the Finite Element Method (FEM) with computer simulation in 2D using Phase2 software. From input data including rock mechanics (unit density, Young’s modulus, Poisson’s rate), compressive pressure on the hole wall due to the force, the spacing, the simulation represents stress and displacement distributions along the two adjacent holes. A regression function for a relationship between the pressure and the spacing is established with the results of stress distribution along the two adjacent holes, compared to uniaxial tensile strength through running the software, which leads to making suggestions to appropriate splitting parameters.

Ground Penetrating Radar is commonly used in civil engineering sectors. Underground anomalies (i.e., electric wires, water pipes or sinkholes) can be detected through representations of hyperbolae in the measured processed GPR image. Our work focuses on detecting the underground objects and understanding their metallic or nonmetallic characteristics. The max energy difference attribute is applied to illuminate their positions while phase analysis process can determine change of phase spectrum in the diffracted signals. For improving phase analysis, we applied a novel workflow combining conventional processed steps and a zooming step for preserving phase originality without disturbed by any unnecessary filters. We applied the workflow in model and real data for proving its effectiveness. Interpretation of two real datasets in Vietnam by our workflow can express existences of the artificial underground anomalies as well as their matter characteristics comparing to their surrounding environments.
Aby usprawnić analizę fazową, zastosowaliśmy nowatorski przepływ pracy łączący konwencjonalne kroki przetwarzania i krok powiększania w celu zachowania oryginalności fazy bez zakłócania przez niepotrzebne filtry.
