The aim of this paper is to present the results of empirical research on the cultural adaptation of Spanish immigrants living in Poland. The author focuses on a specific aspect of Polish-Spanish communication: the dichotomy of restraint-emotionality, often used in intercultural research. The results were presented on the basis of in-depth interviews conducted among representatives of this new group of foreigners in Poland. Polish-Spanish cultural differences at the level of non-verbal communication (e.g. proxemic behavior) and verbal communication (e.g. acts of greetings, farewells, small talk) were discussed and illustrated with relevant fragments of interviews.

Doktryna o usprawiedliwieniu jest podstawowym elementem reformacji XVI wieku. Artykuł jest uzupełnieniem poprzedniej interpretacji Indywidualnego wymiaru (RT 2017 z.12) o refleksje nad społecznymi i globalnymi aspektami analizowanej doktryny. Treść artykułu może być etycznym i eklezjologicznym punktem wyjścia dla rozwijania świadomości i pracy w przeciwdziałaniu niesprawiedliwości społecznej, wykorzystywaniu i poniżaniu osób, określonych grup. Zbory chrześcijańskie mogą być ważnym czynnikiem w kształtowaniu tej postawy przez swoje życie i nauczanie. Uznanie teorii filozofii społecznej może być narzędziem do wyjaśnienia doktryny usprawiedliwienia w jej aspektach społecznych. Również globalna interpretacja w zrozumiały sposób może ułatwić wzajemną świadomość, zrozumienie i wspólne solidarne działanie w świeckich, międzywyznaniowych i międzyreligijnych kontekstach w celu poprawy sprawiedliwości, wolności i integralności stworzenia. 500 Jahre Reformation. Die Rechtfertigungslehre heute. Teil 2: Soziale und globale Aspekte Die Rechtfertigungslehre ist das zentrale Element der Reformation im 16. Jahrhundert. Der Artikel beschreibt in Ergänzung des vorjährigen Artikels zu individuellen Aspekten jetzt Überlegungen zur sozialen und globalen Dimension der Rechtfertigungslehre. Sie kann sowohl ethisch als auch ekklesiologisch Ausgangspunkt für die Wahrnehmung von und Arbeit an sozialen Ungerechtigkeiten, Ausbeutung und Erniedrigung von Menschen und Gruppen sein. Christliche Gemeinden können durch engagiertes Handeln und ihre Predigt ein wichtiger Faktor bei der Vermittlung der Rechtfertigungsbotschaft sein. Die sozial-philosophische Theorie der Anerkennung kann Hilfe zur Explikation sozialer Aspekte der Rechtfertigungslehre sein. Eine auch auf die globale Dimension bezogene nachvollziehbare Interpretation kann eine wechselseitige Aufmerksamkeit, ein gegenseitiges Verständnis und gemeinsames solidarisches Handeln in säkularen, interkonfessionellen und interreligiösen Kontexten fördern in der Absicht, Gerechtigkeit, Frieden und die Bewahrung der Schöpfung zu fördern.
The doctrine of justification is the core element of the Reformation in the 16. century. The article gives added to the previous interpretation of the individual dimension now reflections on the social and global aspects of the doctrine of justification. It can be ethically and ecclesiogically a starting point for the awareness and the work on social injustice, exploitation and humiliation of persons, groups and nature. Christian congregations could be an important factor in transmitting it by its committed life and preaching. The social-philosophic theory acknowledgement can be a tool for an explication of the doctrine of justification in its social aspects. An also global interpretation in an understandable way can facilitate a mutual awareness, understanding and common solidary actions in secular, inter-confessional and inter-religious contexts in order to improve justice, freedom and the integrity of creation.

Artykuł porusza istotną kwestię jaką jest wpływ migracji na rynek pracy w Polsce. W sytuacji wysokiego bezrobocia i braku perspektyw na znalezienie pracy w kraju wielu Polaków zdecydowało się na emigrację. Zjawisko to przybrało na sile po wstąpieniu naszego kraju do Unii Europejskiej. Emigrowali głównie ludzie młodzi i stosunkowo dobrze wykształceni. Lawina emigrantów spowodowała „lukę podażową” na rynku pracy. Dla rozwijającej się polskiej gospodarki stanowi to istotny problem, gdyż okazuje się, że pomimo bezrobocia, które obecnie jest najniższe od czasu transformacji ustrojowej, w wielu sektorach brakuje „rąk do pracy”. Lukę tę „łatają” imigranci z Ukrainy, dla których praca w Polsce jest ucieczką od pogarszającej się sytuacji ekonomicznej w kraju oraz konfliktu zbrojnego we wschodniej jego części.
The article addresses the important issue of the influence of migration on the labor market in Poland. In the situation of high unemployment and the lack of prospects for finding a job in the country, many Poles decided to emigrate. This phenomenon grew stronger after Poland's accession to the European Union. Mainly young and relatively well-educated people emigrated. An avalanche of emigrants has caused a "supply gap" in the labour market. For the developing Polish economy this is a significant problem, because it turns out that despite unemployment, which is currently the lowest since the systemic transformation, many sectors lack "hands to work". This hole is "patched" by immigrants from Ukraine, for whom work in Poland is an escape from the deteriorating economic situation in the country and the armed conflict in its eastern part.

The aim of the article is to explore the policy of the European Union towards Africa between 2011-2017 in the context of migration crisis. Analysis of the legal acts and soft law documents of the European Union allowed to recognize the changes in the external dimension of the different EU policies addressed to African countries. In the article author focused on the framework of the European Union policy towards Africa and the phenomenon of the intensified migration from this continent into Europe. Then, the reaction of the European Union to the high migration pressure on its external borders has been explored.
Celem artykułu jest przegląd polityki Unii Europejskiej wobec Afryki w kontekście kryzysu migracyjnego w latach 2011-2017. Analiza źródeł w postaci aktów prawnych i dokumentów Unii Europejskiej pozwoliła na identyfikację zmian w wymiarze zewnętrznym różnych polityk unijnych adresowanych do państw afrykańskich. W niniejszej pracy skupiono są na przedstawieniu ram polityki Unii Europejskiej wobec Afryki. Następnie przybliżono zjawisko intensyfikacji migracji z tego kontynentu do Europy. Zaprezentowano także odpowiedź Unii Europejskiej na problem wzmożonej presji na granice zewnętrzne.

Illegal migration in Europe means that an ever-increasing number of people are leaving their homes to live in better countries. Migration carries risks that affect individuals and groups of people, sometimes society as a whole, and therefore states decide to intervene in migration processes. The causes of current irregular migration are quite diverse, but the common feature is that migrants had to leave their countries of origin because they could not live a normal life there. Illegal migrants are increasingly nationals of economically underdeveloped countries, who do not have financial resources, are socially deprived, and because of all these facts are involved in committing criminal anti-social activities. In countries where the number of migrants has risen sharply, the racial, ethnic and religious structure of the population composition may change. The escalating tensions between the indigenous peoples and immigrants accelerate racism (bilaterally), radicalism in politics, socio-economic problems, crime, and other risk factors. It is in the European Community’s interest to take all possible legal and effective measures to eliminate the risks of irregular migration and to ensure a safe environment for the population. The paper characterizes migration and analyzes its causes and consequences, including crime associated with illegal migration.

In dem Beitrag wird auf die Frage eingegangen, wie durch diskurslinguistische Analysen gewonnene sprachliche Daten außerhalb der Sprachwissenschaft vermittelt werden. Im Fokus steht dabei die DaF-Didaktik mit besonderem Blick auf die universitäre Deutschlehrerausbildung in der Slowakei. Es wird untersucht, wie man über die klassische Sprachwissenschaft hinaus auch die neuesten Disziplinen wie die Diskurslinguistik effektiv in das Curriculum integrieren kann.Hierzu ist eine interdisziplinäre Perspektive erforderlich, die hier durch die Visualisierungen angeboten wird. Vor diesem Hintergrund wird anhand von Fallbeispielen aus dem deutschen und dem slowakischen Migrationsdiskurs von 2015 gezeigt, wie durch den Einsatz von Visualisierungen auch über komplexe Fachbereiche ein optimiertes Wissen vermittelt werden kann.
The article deals with the question of how linguistic data obtained through discourse linguistic analyses are communicated outside linguistics. The focus is on the didactics of German as a foreign language, with a special focus on university German teacher training in Slovakia. It will be examined how the more recent disciplines such as discourse linguistics can be effectively integrated into the curriculum beyond classical linguistics.This requires an interdisciplinary perspective, which is offered here through the visualizations. Based on this background, case studies from the German and Slovakian migration discourse of 2015 will be used to show how optimized knowledge can be conveyed using visualizations, even across complex subject areas.
Artykuł podejmuje kwestię przekazu danych językowych uzyskanych na bazie analiz dyskursywno-lingwistycznych. W centrum rozważań sytuuje się dydaktyka języka niemieckiego jako obcego ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem specyfiki uniwersyteckiego kształcenia nauczycieli na Słowacji. Prowadzone rozważania oscylują wokół pytania, jak oprócz klasycznego językoznawstwa zintegrować w curriculum treści z zakresu nowych dyscyplin naukowych, jak np. z lingwistyki dyskursu. Koniecznym okazuje się spojrzenie interdyscyplinarne, które przedstawiają zamieszczone w artykule wizualizacje, stanowiące obiekt badań w obszarze niemiecko-słowackiego dyskursu migracyjnego z 2015 roku. Uwidaczniają one możliwość optymalnego przekazu informacji nawet z obszaru wiedzy specjalistycznej przy zastosowaniu odpowiednich technik wizualizacji.

Artykuł prezentuje istotne elementy teologii migracji. Przypomina ona układanie mozaiki, która dopiero w całości może stać się normatywnym fundamentem dla chrześcijańskiej etyki migracji. Elementy do mozaiki czerpać należy przede wszystkim z Pisma Świętego, tradycji, dorobku myśli teologicznej, nauczania Magisterium, katolickiej myśli społecznej czy personalizmu chrześcijańskiego. Każde z tych źródeł wnosi nowe aspekty.
The article presents the essential elements of the theology of migration. It resembles piecing together the jigsaw puzzle (mosaic), which when put together, can become the normative foundation for the Christian migration ethics. Most of all the elements for that mosaic can be taken from the Bible, the Tradition, the whole of achievements of theological thought, the Church Magisterium, the catholic social teaching and from the content of Christian personalism. Each one of these sources delivers new aspects.

Artykuł poświęcony jest wyjaśnieniu kulturowych przyczyn radykalizacji zachodnieuropejskich zagranicznych bojowników terrorystycznych (foreign terrorist fighters, FTF), którzy po 2011 r. migrowali do Syrii i Iraku, aby walczyć w szeregach Państwa Islamskiego (ISIS) oraz innych organizacji dżihadystycznych. Przegląd literatury i dostępnych wyników badań pozwolił na sformułowanie wniosku, że jedną ze strukturalnych przyczyn tej mobilizacji były problemy z tożsamością oraz stan anomii występujący wśród części zachodnioeuropejskiej młodzieży ze środowisk imigranckich. Ponadto ogromną rolę odgrywała mobilizacja w cyberprzestrzeni i sprawna propaganda rekrutacyjna na platformach społecznościowych i w komunikatorach internetowych.
The article discusses the cultural reasons for the radicalization of Western European foreign terrorist fighters (FTF) who migrated to Syria and Iraq after 2011 to fight in the ranks of the Islamic State (ISIS) and other jihadist organizations. Literature review and available research findings led to the conclusion that one of the structural reasons for this mobilization was identity problems and a state of anomie found among some Western European youth from immigrant backgrounds. In addition, mobilization in cyberspace played a major role along with efficient recruitment propaganda on social platforms and instant messaging apps.

The aim of this paper is to discuss the most important methodological issues related to the study of ‘academic migration’, which we have encountered while preparing a research project on foreign-born academics in Poland. These issues are presented in the context of the migration of other highly skilled workers. Many of the analysed articles which concern migration of the highly skilled fall into methodological traps. Some do not take into account important cultural variables; others are concentrated on very specific problems, and – by employing sophisticated statistical techniques – provide conclusions of very limited generality. We start our analysis with the discussion of the most common research problems. Then we move on to discussing sources of data and methodologies. The last part summarizes the main advantages and disadvantages of various methodological approaches often employed in academic migration studies. This study allows us to outline our above-mentioned research proposal. Drawing on this example we show how a qualitative research project may add to current knowledge concerning the group in question. Nevertheless, this subject is diffi cult per se, and some challenges seem impossible to overcome.

The article provides a general overview of the issue of environmentally induced migration. Despite having been a topic of climate change debate for over 30 years and a growing concern of the international community, environmentally displaced persons are not defined or described in any legally binding document. The first part of the article investigates difficulties with providing a definition of environmental migrants. Next, it examines different projects of international regulations and approaches. In the final section the author analyses the key issues of environmentally induced migration, namely: environmental factors, including slow and sudden onset events, characteristics of the movement, with focus on forced and cross-border migration and the appropriate terminology (migrant or refugee).

The article presents the view of migration seen as a serious global problem of the 21st century that must be seriously considered by the European Union. Particularly, uncontrolled mass migration is conceived as a global problem because it affects all areas of life of every society – political, economic and cultural. The article highlights the main causes of mass migration: poverty and its deepening in the world, and the war. These phenomena are briefly described and analysed in the first part of the article. The second part is concerned with the description and analysis of the possible consequences of uncontrolled mass migration for the European Union. Radicalism, extremism and terrorism were defined as the most serious consequences of uncontrolled mass migration in the article. Despite the fact that migration is conceived as an important social and security issue, it is also defined as an important factor of the current European integration. At the end of the article it is concluded that if migration is not conceived as an important social and security issue which needs to be addressed, it can result in such phenomena as radicalism, extremism and terrorism in the European Union.

After 1945 Germany was confronted with the integration of a million German refugees. Starting in the 1950s, Germany intentionally attracted foreign workers, and integrated them fairly well. The article analyses the current discussions in Germany in relation to the impact of massive immigration of refugees from non-European areas around 2015. It concludes with a position that in the time of globalisation migration needs a society-focussed and political learning process which has not yet ended and will require more learning. But countries with a declining population are well advised to see immigration as an opportunity for future growth and social diversity.

The aim of the study is to present the phenomenon of population migration and migration policy as part of the state’s economic policy based on the example of OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development) countries, with particular emphasis on the area of migration policy, which is border control and related illegal migration. The temporal scope of the empirical analysis covers the period 1990-2016. The article consists of four main parts. The discussion began with a presentation of the balance of migration, the scale and dynamics of population immigration in OECD countries. Furthermore, the significance, areas and process of shaping migration policy as a part of the economic policy of the country are presented. Then, it focused on the migration policy in the area of border control in OECD countries. The discussion was crowned with the conclusions that followed.

The article analyses the environmental aspects of migration in the context of their environmental causes and effects, focusing, however, on the effects. It was recognized that negative changes in the environment are becoming a more and more frequent cause of migration and may lead to a very wide range of migration, which would be very difficult to control. This will, among other things, have environmental effects in countries targeted by migrants. These effects are considered, using the example of Poland and the need to provide migrants with appropriate living conditions, based on legal regulations relating to the provision of drinking water, sewage disposal and municipal waste management. Such situations should be considered by the state by preparing appropriate action strategies, determining the sources of their financing, and introducing the necessary legislative changes.
Artykuł analizuje aspekty środowiskowe migracji w kontekście środowiskowych przyczyn i skutków migracji. Uznano, że negatywne zmiany w środowisku stają się coraz częstszą przyczyną migracji i mogą prowadzić do migracji o bardzo szerokim zasięgu, bardzo trudnych do kontrolowania. Spowoduje to m.in. skutki dla środowiska w krajach dla emigrantów docelowych. Skutki te są rozpatrywane na przykładzie Polski i konieczności zapewnienia migrantom odpowiednich warunków bytowych na podstawie regulacji prawnych odnoszących się do zapewnienia wody do picia, odprowadzania ścieków i postępowania z odpadami komunalnymi.
В статье анализируются экологические аспекты миграции в контексте экологических причин и последствий миграции. Признано, что негативные изменения в окружающей среде становятся все более частой причиной миграции и могут привести к очень широкому масштабу миграции, очень трудно поддающейся контролю. Это вызовет, помимо прочего, влияние на окружающую среду в странах назначения. Эти последствия рассматриваются на примере Польши и необходимости обеспечения мигрантам адекватных условий жизни на основе правовых норм, касающихся обеспечения питьевой водой, удаления сточных вод и обращения с бытовыми отходами.
