Opis:
The paper presents simulations and research results of testing of the aluminium plate with active vibration control. The aim of this paper is to analyze and compare two ways of excitation of the test plate, various influence on its vibrations and active damping control. Vibration control of the smart structure is realized through four piezoceramic PZT actuators and one PZT sensor bonded to the plate. Simulations and numerical computations of the structure are performed in ANSYS environment. Measurements are executed on specialized sound insulation suite for small elements in reverberation chamber. At the beginning white noise sound source is used in purpose to measure basic vibration modes. After numerical computations and measurements three particular frequencies has been chosen and for them active damping is applied. There are two ways of exciting the test plate; first method is sound wave, second is mechanical vibrations via one of piezoceramics. The test results indicate that PZTs can decrease vibrations by approximately 15 dB for a pure sound input with acoustic excitation method, for mechanical excitation method 18 dB for a sinus vibration signal is achieved.

Opis:
Administrative decisions, related to the selection of the priority of activities minimising acoustic effects in the analysed areas, are determined by the index M values. This index is also known as the noise protection agents demand. A form of its function is determined by variables describing the number of residents and the level of exceeding the permissible noise in these inhabited regions. Uncertainty of decisions resulting from such assessments is conditioned by numerical measures: inaccurate measurements of exceeding permissible noise indicators as well as errors in the estimation of the number of residents exposed to them, formulated in probabilistic categories and interpreted in an interval way. Thus, the uncertainty assessment of index M, being the function determined by means of those variables, requires the determination of the density of probability distribution function of its occurrence. The method of its determination constitutes the contents of the presented hereby paper. The study concentrates on the derivation of the density of probability distribution function of index M, at the assumption that the distribution of variable errors is in a form of the normal cut distribution. The computational algorithm, allowing to perform necessary numerical calculations assigned to the uncertainty assessment process of index M, is presented. The obtained results are illustrated by the example.

Opis:
This study is dedicated to the problem of estimating uncertainties of long-term noise indicators, when differences in the sound level emission at various time periods of the calendar year are taken into consideration. This task is defined by referring their influence values - in the determined time intervals - to the year period. Due to the limited possibilities of a total monitoring of parameters necessary for the precise estimation of the long-term sound levels, this estimation process is often limited (in accordance with the EU environmental recommendations) to two condition classes. They are defined by two sound levels occurring with probabilities (frequencies) p and 1-p, in the analyzed reference period. In this paper we present a method of calculating uncertainties of this procedure assuming that frequency of determined events are known. The probability distribution for the estimated value was assessed. The developed model formalism of the estimation of uncertainties of long-term sound levels together with algorithms assigned to it, was analyzed. The proposed solution was illustrated by examples of uncertainty calculations of the averaged sound levels in acoustic assessments of environmental hazards.

Opis:
In the literature, research into rapidly cooled Pt-based alloys usually features samples that are produced in the form of thin ribbons. This work presents the effect of the addition of a small quantity of W and Pt on the magnetic properties of massive two-phase alloys, the samples being produced in the form of plates with a thickness of 0.5 mm. Both amorphous and crystalline phases were observed in the alloys, the phase proportions depending on the composition of the alloy. Generally, it is assumed that alloys with added Pt are characterised by a relatively high saturation magnetization and magnetocrystalline anisotropy, which is mainly influenced by the presence of the crystalline phases: FePt and Fe₃Pt. For the investigated alloys, it was noted that the gradual substitution of W and Pt in place of Y within the alloy $Fe₆₁Co₁₀B₂₀Y_{8-x}W_{y}Pt_{x}$ increased the value of saturation magnetization $(μ₀M_{s})$ and reduced the coercive field $(H_{c})$. On the basis of XRD pattern analysis it was found that, within the sample with the highest concentration of Pt, there are crystallites of the smallest size and the proportion of the α-Fe crystalline phase is much greater than for the other studied samples.

Opis:
The quietness, defined as the near or complete absence of sound, in the context of the natural environment protection, may be considered a state in which no undesired of foreign sounds occur, and, by analogy to noise, analyzed in two aspects: that pertaining to measurements and the subjective one. The article discusses the lowest levels of sounds recorded at night in the soundscape of the Białowieża Forest. Due to low levels of the examined sounds and the technical problems that occurred while the sounds were being measured and registered, the acoustic examination of the measurement set-up in an anechoic chamber has also been presented. The research is aimed at defining precisely the concept of quietness prevailing in the nature in the subjective aspect by determining both the range of levels and the characteristics of preferred sounds.

Opis:
The structural stabilities, elastic properties and charge transfers of EuX (X = O, S, Se, Te) compounds as a function of pressure are investigated extensively using first-principles calculations. The ground-state parameters, such as lattice constants, bulk modulus are predicted and compared with the available data, our results are satisfactory. The calculated phase transition pressures from the NaCl-type (B1) structure to the CsCl-type (B2) structure for EuX (X = O, S, Se, Te) also accord with the experiments. Particularly, the elastic constants of EuX (X = O, S, Se, Te) under zero pressure and high pressure are simulated appropriately for the first time via density functional theory. The softening behaviors of the elastic shear modulus $C_{44}$ under pressure for the B1 phase of EuX (X = O, S, Se, Te) are captured, which should be responsible for the pressure-induced structural phase transition in the EuX system. It is also suggested that the softening behavior might be induced partly by the p → d and f → d electron transfers of Eu atom under pressure. In addition, the aggregate elastic modulus (B, G, E), Poisson's ratio (σ), Debye temperature $\Theta p_{D}$ are also successfully obtained for both B1 and B2 phases of EuX.

The structural properties of series spinel oxides with the general formula, $LiM_{0.5}Fe_{4.5}O_8$ (M = Mn, Cr, Al), are investigated. The effect of limited substitution of manganese, chromium and aluminum ions in the lithium ferrite samples on the order-disorder phase transition in the spinel crystal lattice at room temperature is presented. In these materials it is found that the ordered structures have not been isolated as single phases under the present experimental conditions and this fact will certainly influence the magnetic behavior of the compounds. The Rietveld refinements of the synchrotron X-ray diffraction data revealed that transition metal ions hinders the ordering process and $Al^{3+}$ ion was shown to be least effective in removing of order.

The Mössbauer spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction techniques have been used to investigate the effect of boron concentration on the structural and magnetic properties of as-quenched and heat-treated melt-spun alloys $Nd_{7.5}Pr_{2.5}Fe_{90-x}B_x$ (x=6, 8, 10) produced by melt-spinning technique. X-ray diffraction and Mössbauer spectroscopy results indicate that as-prepared samples are completely amorphous in nature. The X-ray diffraction patterns of samples heat-treated at 700°C are indexed as $Fe_{3}B,$ $\alpha-Fe,$ $(NdPr)_{2}Fe_{14}B$ and $Fe_{23}B_{6}$ phases. The Mössbauer spectra of heat-treated samples are very complex and constituted a number of sextets and a quadrupole doublet. Two main phases are $(NdPr)_{2}Fe_{14}B$ hard and $t-Fe_{3}B$ soft magnetic phases while $\alpha-Fe$ and $Nd_{23}Fe_{6}$ are detected as minor phases. The average internal magnetic field decreases with the increase of boron content; more sharply in as-prepared and comparatively slowly in heat-treated samples. The X-ray diffraction and Mössbauer spectroscopy results are in good agreement with each other.
