Opis:
The condensation fraction, transition temperature, and energy per particle for a hard sphere interacting homogeneous Bose gas using the static fluctuation approximation have been determined. The transition temperature at liquid helium density has been found to be lower than that for the noninteracting gas. Both superfluidity and the Bose-Einstein condensation have been found to occur at the same transition temperature. Our results are consistent with results obtained by other methods.

Opis:
In this study, free-standing zincoxide/multiwalled carbon nanotube nanocomposite was synthesized by a multistep technique. Buckypapers having controlled porosity were prepared by vacuum filtration from oxidized multiwalled carbon nanotubes. Zinc acetate dihydrate (ZnAc) ($Zn(CH_3COO)_2$ ·$2H_2O$) was used as zinc source and ethanol used as solvent. An appropriate amount of monoethanolamine was added to sol to change acid-base media. The solution was vacuum filtered through buckypaper and annealed at 350C in air. It was found that the zinc oxide grows around the multiwalled carbon nanotubes to form a uniform composite. Morphology of zine oxide/multiwalled carbon nanotube was also studied in detail. Nanocomposite was characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and Raman spectroscopy.

Opis:
The self-similar crystallization process of a binary mixture from a cooled boundary is studied on the basis of two models with a planar front and mushy layer. Approximate analytical solutions of the process describing the solidification with a mushy layer are found. The theory under consideration is in good agreement with experiments carried out by Huppert and Worster for ice growing from aqueous salt solutions.

Motivated by metallurgical and geophysical applications we present a mathematical model describing the process of unidirectional solidification of binary melts or solutions, which is based on the classical Stefan thermodiffusion theory with a planar front up to a time of mushy layer initiation and on the quasi-equilibrium theory of solidification with a constitutionally supercooled region afterwards. The role of boundary conditions imposed at the cooled wall is studied in terms of heat flux coefficients describing ultimately nonlinear dynamics of the process.

Opis:
This paper considers the problem of finding the temperature field in two-layer metallic materials heated by a moving source of radiation. It describes developed by the authors numerical method for solving the problem of heating a two-layer plate by a moving axially symmetric surface heat source with regard to the function of distribution of the power density of the beam for which the program of computation in $C^{++}$ was implemented. The calculation results were used for selecting the optimal parameters (speed and power density of the source) of modifying radiation of protective powder coatings on steel substrates.

Opis:
The effective capacitance between the origin and any other lattice site, in an infinite 3D simple cubic network consisting of identical capacitors, is evaluated in terms of the lattice Green function of the network. The perfect case is reviewed shortly, while the perturbed case (a capacitor is removed) is studied in two cases. Numerical values of the effective capacitance are presented and the asymptotic behavior is studied for the both cases.

Opis:
High resolution in situ X-ray powder diffraction applying synchrotron radiation and differential thermal analysis/scanning calorimetry methods have been used to examine the pseudo-binary system $PrAlO_3-SmAlO_3$. Two kinds of solid solutions with rhombohedral and orthorhombic structure exist at room temperature. At elevated temperatures, a continuous phase transition Pm3m ↔ R3c and a first-order transformation R3c ↔ Pbmn occur in the two respective phases. A sequence of low-temperature phase transformations R3c ↔ Imma ↔ C2/m has been detected in $Pr_{1-x}Sm_xAlO_3$ samples with x < 0.35. Based on in situ powder diffraction and differential thermal analysis/scanning calorimetry data, the phase diagram of the pseudo-binary system $PrAlO_3-SmAlO_3$ has been constructed.

Clay is one of the most used natural materials in the ceramic industry with various applications such as pottery, tiles, cement and bricks. The latter are used as a building material because of their excellent thermal and mechanical properties. In the present study, Algerian clay from Al-maathed area, M'sila district, was used to prepare bricks. The chemical composition of the clay was determined using X-ray fluorescence. Firing of clay was carried out in the temperature range 20-1000°C, at different heating rates. The present phases and their transformations, the activation energy, and the sintering mechanism were evaluated using X-ray diffraction, differential thermal analysis, thermogravimetric analysis and dilatometry. The activation energy for the sintering mechanism obtained from non-isothermal treatments is 420 kJ/mol. The value of the Avrami exponent, n, is determined from the shape of the crystallization exothermic dependence. It is related to m parameter (a numerical factor which depends on the dimensionality of crystal growth) obtained by Matusita method. Both of which are about 1.2 for clay sintering. These values indicate that bulk nucleation is dominant in clay sintering by three-dimensional growth, with polyhedron-like morphology controlled by interface reaction.

Opis:
Automatic methods are a convenient solution to extract buildings from remote sensing images. In this paper, we propose an unsupervised method to extract buildings by means of the Gabor filters and morphological operators. Our proposed method starts from a set of the Gabor filter parameters which is selected empirically to generate a two-dimensional impulse response. The convolution of the impulse response with the image of interest enhances the buildings and attenuates the background. Moreover, morphological operators are applied to further refine the resulting class of interest. The developed algorithm is applied on many remotely sensed images; the obtained results are highly satisfactory and promising.

Opis:
Positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy has shown to be a powerful tool to study the nanostructures of porous materials. Positron emission tomograph is a device allowing imaging of metabolic processes e.g. in human bodies. A newly developed device, the Jagiellonian PET will allow positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy in addition to imaging, thus combining both analyses providing new methods for physics and medicine. In this contribution we present a computer program that is compatible with the Jagiellonian PET software. We compare its performance with the standard program LT 9.0 by using positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy data from hexane measurements at different temperatures. Our program is based on an iterative procedure, and our fits prove that it performs as good as LT 9.0.

Main properties of multiply charged molecular ions (energetics, structure, stability, lifetime and fragmentation dynamics) are relevant to know and to model the behavior of gaseous plasmas, planetary ionospheres, and astrophysical environments. Experimental measurements of the kinetic energy released of fragment ions produced by the Coulomb explosion of molecular dications (doubly charged molecular species) originating by double photoionization of CO₂ molecules, are reported and discussed. The kinetic energy released, as a function of the UV photon energy in the range of 34-50 eV, is extracted from the electron-ion-ion coincidence spectra recorded by using tunable synchrotron radiation coupled with ion imaging techniques at the GasPhase beam line of ELETTRA Synchrotron Light Laboratory Trieste, Italy. This kind of experiment allows assessing the probability of escape for simple ionic species in the ionosphere of Mars and Titan. The kinetic energy released, measured in the case of O⁺ and CO⁺ fragment ions, are ranging between 1.0-5.0 and 0.4-3.0 eV, respectively. These values are large enough to allow such ionic species in participating in the atmospheric escape from Mars (only O⁺ ions) and Titan (both O⁺ and CO⁺ ions) into space. In the case of Mars, we suggest a possible rationalization for the observed behavior of the O⁺ and CO₂²⁺ ion density profiles by Viking 1 lander and Mariner 6 spacecraft.

The linear travel-time interpolation algorithm is improved by the method of ray tracing based on finite difference scheme of eikonal equation. It can simulate the more complex medium. Using the algorithm to calculate travel-time and paths of tracing rays, it is more rapid and accurate than the other conventional methods. The linear travel-time interpolation ray tracing algorithm has a drawback: rays cannot go round the low velocity area if the launching point, the receiving point and the low velocity area distribute on the same column (row). Aiming at the drawback, an improved algorithm is proposed on the basis of researching reconstruction theories. The given algorithm adopts a cross-scanning strategy to carry out forward processing and uses discrete points as the secondary sources to simplify backward processing. The numerical simulation experiments show that the rays can go round the low velocity areas located in the same column (row) of the launching points and the receiving points. Rays scan over the global region only once.

K-feldspars in pegmatites from Luc Yen gem mining area, Yen Bai province, Vietnam were studied by X-ray fluorescence, X-ray powder diffraction and the Raman spectroscopy. Chemical analysis determined the K-feldspars in the form: of (K_{0.8909}Na_{0.0388}Ca_{0.002}Pb_{0.0042}Cs_{0.0024}Rb_{0.0338})(Al_{0.9975}Fe_{0.0053}Ti_{0.0004})Si_{2.988}O₈. Both X-ray powder diffraction and Raman spectroscopy indicated Luc Yen K-feldspars as orthoclase phase. Together with the values of Al content of the T1 tetrahedral sites in orthoclase, it is understood that Luc Yen pegmatites are of young ages (Cenozoic) and shallow intrusive types.

This work studies the stability and the stochastic properties of neural activity evoked by external stimulation. The underlying nonlocal model describes the spatiotemporal response dynamics of neural populations involving both synaptic delay and axonal transmission delay. We show that the linear model recasts to a set of affine delay differential equations in spatial Fourier space. Besides a stability study for general kernels and general external stimulation, the power spectrum of evoked activity is derived analytically in the case of external Gaussian noise. Further applications to specific kernels reveal critical fluctuations at Hopf- and Turing bifurcations and allow the numerical detection of 1/f$\text{}^{α}$fluctuations near the stability threshold.
