Opis:: This study aimed to compare measures of religiosity and spirituality in the experience of positive and negative emotions. For this purpose, a measure of non-spiritual religiosity (Religious Sense Scale) was developed. Method: The study has been conducted on a sample of 279 participants aged between 19 and 69 (M=24.42, SD=9.463) who completed a questionnaire that included the Religious Sense Scale, the Portuguese version of the Spiritual Well-being Questionnaire and the abridged Portuguese version of the Positive and Negative Affect Schedule. Findings: The was found to have excellent metrical properties for the measurement of religiosity or “religious sense”. Religious individuals differ from spiritual ones in the experience of emotions: spirituality tends to a greater experience of positive affect and religiosity to negative affect.

Opis:: Celem niniejszego artykułu jest analiza postaci kobiet występujących w narracji Rdz 11,27 – 25,18. Na początku autor opisuje czynniki określające status kobiety w społeczności patriarchalnej. Społeczność ta, nawet jeśli wykazuje hierarchię patriarchalną, zbudowana jest na fundamentach wiary, która przyznaje mężczyźnie i kobiecie tę samą godność i pozycję przed Bogiem. W kolejnej części artykułu autor ukazuje różne postacie kobiece pojawiające się w cyklu o Abrahamie. Sara jest tu przedstawiona jako wzór hebrajskiej żony i matki. Wypełnia swoje powołanie we wzorcowy sposób wydając na świat Izaaka i zapewniając swojej rodzinie najlepsze z możliwych warunki egzystencji. Żona Lota i jego córki ukazane zostają jako przeciwieństwo Sary. Ich czyny sprowadzają nieszczęście na rodziny, które reprezentują i niweczą możliwość ich wzrostu podobnego do tego, którego doświadcza potomstwo Abrahama.
Abraham is the link figure throughout these narratives, but in several of the individual stories he is in the background, with the main focus being on another, whether Sarah, Hagar, Lot, Lot’s wife and daughters, Abraham’s servant or Rebekah. These narratives leave the reader in no doubt about the key part played by women in Israel’s early history. The writer is certainly aware of women’s interests and concerns and seems to be making a conscious effort to make sure that these interests and concerns are brought out within the text. There are a number of occasions where the account, although not always the characters it portrays, indicates an understanding of and attitude toward women that does not reflect the worldview of the society depicted. Sarai is introduced alongside Abram in Genesis 11, and although God’s call and God’s promises are described as coming to Abram, it is clear that Sarai was with him from the beginning to the end.

Opis:: The article of Sara Kruszona entitled The Theater of Death treats the spectacular-theatrical character of collective hunts. The author puts forward the thesis that these hunts can be read as a form of a spectacle. The starting point for consideration was the article Customs and hunting ceremonies in collective hunts, derived from the website of the Hunting Signals Group, “Hagard”. This text is a kind of a scenario of hunting ceremonies taking place during collective hunts. By quoting its fragments in his text on the Theater of Death, the author proves the thesis about the pageantry of hunting rituals. Events which take place during hunting, their organization and arrangement, whose important aspects include tradition and ritual character, interpreted as a kind of spectacle. It was similar to the ancient venatio. The author also refers to the ancient roots of performances with the participation of hunters, i.e. venatio, described by Miroslaw Kocur in his book entitled The Roots of the Theater. A particularly important argument for the possibility of considering hunting as a form of a show is the hunters’ awareness of role–playing and audience presence. This can be understood by guests invited to the hunt as well as opponents of hunting, or as a community focused on their activity and ready to criticize it. The awareness of the presence of spectators determines the obvious awareness of playing whether the hunters perform a specific social function in the spectacle called hunting. The finale of this performance, played according to a strictly defined scenario and with strictly assigned roles, is pokot. The author draws attention to the fact that the system of animal bodies and all activities related to them resemble a specific form of a spectacle – anatomical theater.

The article concerns the relations between the main character of the film Sara (directed by M. Ślesicki in 1997) and books (especially Dostoyevsky’s Crime and Punishment) in the context of social and political changes in Poland in the 1990s. The presence of books in popular Polish films from that period is not described in research, hence this article provides a short introduction to this subject. The main hypothesis of the paper is that the presence of books on the margins of narration in popular films reflects social changes in thinking about literature.

Opis:: The article attempts to present essentiality – one of the concepts used most frequently by Witkacy – as a performative category. The artist was aware that essentiality would not have the final form in the dictionary of intellectual concepts, that it could not be fixed within stable definitions, but continued his efforts to push the boundaries of the human mind as far as possible. The paper analyses Witkacy’s epistemological tactics using Anna Krajewska’s dramatic theory of literature, which draws, among other things, on the achievements of performative discourse. Seen in this perspective, Witkacy’s ‘essential conversations’ can be regarded as dramatic forms which establish essentiality in constant motion and give it the character of a processual event – of something uncertain in a state of unreadiness, something attempted.

Opis:: Electrocoagulation (EC) can be defined a method utilized to remove pollutants from wastewater by applying an electric current to sacrificial electrodes. Many experimental variables like NaCl content (0–4 g/l), current density (5–25 mA/cm2), time (30–90 mins), and pH (4–10) that influence the removal efficiency regarding COD were considered. In the presented research, three distinct configurations related to electrodes, i.e. Al-Al, Fe-Al, and Fe-Fe, have been utilized to determine which was the most effective. RSM depending on BBD was utilized for optimizing various operational parameters with regard to HWW by use of EC. Maximum COD removal (97.9%) was reached at Fe-Al electrodes, NaCl (3.2 g/l), current density (24.7 mA/cm2), time (81.7 mins), and pH (7.4). COD removal (91.3%) was achieved at the Al-Al electrodes, NaCl (3.8 g/l), current density(23.5 mA/cm2), time-86.3 min, and Ph (7.7). At the Fe-Fe electrodes, the removal of COD (89.5%) was obtained at NaCl (2.3 g/l), current density (24.6 mA/cm2), pH 8.5, and time (86.9 min). This indicates that EC could remove pollutants from different types of wastewaters under many operating parameters and with arrangements of electrodes.

Opis:: Wprowadzenie W codziennej pracy ośrodka radioterapeutycznego nieuniknione są przerwy w działaniu aparatów spowodowane awariami lub przeglądami akceleratorów medycznych. W celu zachowania ciągłości leczenia pacjenci napromieniani są na innych dostępnych w ośrodku aparatach. Ze względu na to, że każdy z radioterapeutycznych planów leczenia dostosowany jest do aparatu, na którym plan ma być realizowany, koniecznym jest przygotowywanie zastępczych planów leczenia na pozostałe aparaty. Cel Celem pracy było zaproponowanie strategii postępowania z radioterapeutycznym planem leczenia w technice VMAT (ang. Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy), tzw. planem oryginalnym w przypadku niedostępności aparatu źródłowego na przykładzie pacjentów z nowotworem stercza. Materiał i metoda Do badań zostały włączone trzy akceleratory firmy Varian znajdujące się w jednym centrum onkologii: TrueBeam, Clinac 2300 CD-S oraz Unique, posiadające 120-listkowy kolimator wielolistkowy MLC Millenium. Do przeprowadzenia badania zebrano grupę 24 pacjentów z rakiem stercza. Porównano plany leczenia pod względem liczby jednostek monitorowych oraz dawek w objętości PTV i w narządach krytycznych. Plany zweryfikowano i przeanalizowano dozymetrycznie za pomocą metody gamma. Wyniki Różnice w liczbie jednostek monitorowych pomiędzy oryginalnymi i zastępczymi planami leczenia nie przekraczały akceptowalnej wartości 2%. Zaobserwowano brak różnic pomiędzy dawkami w objętości PTV. Różnica dawki w analizowanych narządach krytycznych nie przekraczała akceptowalnego progu 2%. Wszystkie plany leczenia uzyskały minimum 95% zgodności dla weryfikacji dozymetrycznych metodą współczynnika gamma. Wnioski Wykonane badanie potwierdza możliwość realizowania radioterapeutycznych planów leczenia wykonanych w technice VMAT zamiennie na trzech akceleratorach (TrueBeam, Clinac 2300 CD-S oraz Unique, Varian), posiadających 120-listkowy kolimator MLC Millenium, dla pacjentów z nowotworem stercza.
Introduction In the routine clinical work in the radiotherapeutic center, there are interruptions of the medical accelerators caused by failures or maintenance. In order to maintain the continuity of treatment, patients are irradiated with other devices available at the center. Due to the fact that each of the radiotherapeutic treatment plans is adapted to the particular accelerator on which the plan is to be implemented, it is necessary to prepare alternative treatment plans for the other accelerators. Aim The aim of the study was to propose a strategy for dealing with a radiotherapeutic treatment plan in the VMAT technique (Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy), the so-called original plan in case of unavailability of the source accelerators on the example of patients with prostate cancer. Material and methods The study included three Varian accelerators located in one oncology center: TrueBeam, Clinac 2300 CD-S and Unique, equipped with a 120-leaf MLC Millenium multi-leaf collimator. A group of 24 patients with prostate cancer was collected for the study. Treatment plans were compared in terms of the number of monitor units and doses for PTV volume and critical organs. The plans were verified and dosimetrically analyzed using the gamma method. Results The differences in the number of monitor units between the original and two backup treatment plans did not exceed the acceptable value of 2%. No dose difference was observed for PTV. The dose difference in the analyzed critical organs did not exceed the acceptable threshold of 2%. All treatment plans achieved a minimum of 95% agreement for dosimetric verification using the gamma method. Conclusion The results of this study confirm the possibility of implementing radiotherapeutic treatment plans made in the VMAT technique, alternately on three accelerators (TrueBeam, Clinac 2300 CD-S and Unique, Varian), with a 120-leaf MLC Millenium collimator, for patients with prostate cancer.
