    Celem szkicu jest prezentacja refleksji jednej z najwybitniejszych rodzimych polonistek i slawistek – zapisków dotyczących Jej naukowego środowiska. W artykule przedstawione zostały: 1) językoznawcze interakcje Uczonej w okresie studiów (m.in. Uniwersytet Łódzki, Uniwersytet Jagielloński, wykładowcy, studencijęzykoznawcy, tematy badawcze...) oraz 2) interpersonalne zależności i wydarzenia zaistniałe w Jej dorosłym już życiu naukowym (m.in. Instytut Slawistyki PAN w Warszawie, projekty badawcze, doktorat, habilitacja, naukowe przyjaźnie, badania terenowe, publikacje wyników badań, opieka naukowa...). Zagadnienia opisane przez Lingwistkę pozwalają na rekonstrukcję naukowego świata, który ukształtował Jej naukową osobowość i pozwolił Jej na intelektualnopragmatyczne wykorzystanie naukowoorganizacyjnych predyspozycji, dzięki którym stała się jedną z najbardziej cenionych i szanowanych postaci w Polsce.
    The purpose of the text is to present one of the most outstanding native Polish and Slavonic philologists and reflections on her scientific environment. The article concerns: 1) linguistic interactions of the young scholar during her studies (University of Łódź, Jagiellonian University, lecturers, studentlinguists, research topics...) and 2) interpersonal relations and events in her adult scientific life (The Institute of Slavic Studies at Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw, research projects, doctoral dissertation, postdoctoral degree, scientific friendships, field research, publication of research results, scientific guidance...). The subjects described by the linguist permit to reconstruct the scientific world that shaped her academic personality and allowed her to use professional and organizational predispositions intellectually and pragmatically, which made her one of the most esteemed scholars in Poland.

    The article shows the names of the sacrament of penance used in Piotr Skarga’s sermons. The analyzed material has been taken from Kazania o śiedmi Sákrámentách, published in 1600 in Krakow by Andrzej Piotrkowczyk publishing house, whereas the comparative material has originated from Słownik polszczyzny XVI wieku and other publications about religious language, which are enumerated in the bibliography. The analysis of the materials shows that Skarga has not created new names for the sacrament of conversion. They have the same forms as in the Bible or in the papers of Church Fathers, namely penance, the sacrament of the confession, the sacrament of the penance, reconciliation, absolution. The preacher uses also comparisons and metaphors, eg. bathhouse, plank (second plank), as shipwreck plank, for showing the doctrine of the sacrament precisely.

    The article is devoted to the part of the academic discourse dedicated the educational results. The aim of the study is to present the linguistic means which serve for such purpose. The analyze encompasses such formal realization of the predicate structures as nominal phrases including nominalizations, nouns and adjectives. Special attention is paid to mental predicates which are realized by intellectual verbs on the formal level. The conducted study is placed among the works from the fields of stylistics, semantics, syntax as well as in the area of the discourse analyses.

    The aim of the article is to present ways of creating gospel harmony in the History of the Glorious… and their relation to the content of dramatic scenes. The article focused on the issue of choosing from the evangelical versions, as well as from four Polish editions, on the technique of compilation and on writer’s consciousness, where the given quote comes from and where the quotation borders are. It turned out that the Gospel lesson is somehow independent of the action – or rather – the action independent of the reading.
    Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie sposobów tworzenia harmonii ewangelicznych w Historyi o chwalebnym zmartwychwstaniu Pańskim, a także ich relacji z treścią scen dramatycznych. Artykuł dotyczy m.in. kwestii wyboru spośród wersji ewangelicznych, a także wyboru spośród czterech polskich redakcji. Skupia się na technice łączeń i na świadomości autora, skąd pochodzi dany cytat i gdzie jest jego granica. Okazało się, że czytania ewangeliczne są w pewien sposób niezależne od akcji – czy raczej – akcja niezależna od czytań. Mimo iż autor tworzył harmonię na poziomie czytań, łącząc różne wersje ewangelistów, to jednak w akcji za nimi nie podążał.

    The article presents the ‘Sketches for sermons’ which were composed in the milieu of Polish soldiers interned in Switzerland during World War II. The issues under examination include questions of genre, in particular questions of linguistic style in texts of different kinds. The aim is to characterize the properties of the pastoral language of that time, as presented in texts, and in this way to display the character of the language of pre-conciliar doctrine. In addition the article highlights the differences (first of all normative) and similarities (in particular, rhetorical and stylistic) in relation to the contemporary post-conciliar transmission of the faith. The article likewise provides information about texts hitherto undiscussed and which are of value both historically and linguistically.

    Artykuł poświęcony jest problematyce funkcjonowania nazw własnych w kontekście społeczno-komunikacyjnym. Podkreśla konieczność rozdzielenia procesów tworzenia i funkcjonowania onimów, ze względu na to, że w użyciu nazwa własna obrasta w nowe konotacje, staje się przyczyną generowania nowych motywacji, które są tworzone z reguły podświadomie. Te motywacje ujawniają się w postaci tzw. reinterpretacji nazewniczych zewnętrznych i wewnętrznych. Pierwsze dotyczą przekształceń dokonywanych w świadomości użytkownika, a zatem bez naruszenia formy nazewniczej. Mechanizm drugiego typu przekształceń pozwala na dokonywanie zmian w obrębie leksykalnym onimu.
    This paper deals with proper names functioning issues in the social-communicative context. It underlines the necessity to divide creating and functioning names processes, because while using the proper names receive new connotations, and becomes a reason for generating new motivations, which are usually created subconsciously. These motivations come to the light in the shape of so called outward and inward onomastic (name) reinterpretations. The first concern transformations taking place in the user’s awareness, thus without reshaping a name. Mechanism of the other type of transformations allows making changes within lexical name.

    This article juxtaposes the reflections on the expectations from plain language as declared by the participants of workshops delivered by the Jasnopis team with the status of linguistic research on phenomena such as linguistic awareness, linguistic norm, or attitudes towards language. These arguments serve the purpose of proposing a comprehensive approach to text, which positions the recipient in the centre of works on plain language, which allows for the output of other disciplines of knowledge and requires cooperation between experts and practitioners in a given field, text recipients, and linguists/editors. Such an approach is put forward also by the plain language ISO standard (due for publication), which encourages examination of a text together with its recipients and employment of non-linguistic information design techniques.

    In view of the growing interest in the nature of culture – language interface, on the one hand, and the socio-political developments inherent in European integration processes, on the other, three issues are perhaps worth addressing for linguists and cultural studies specialists: (i) whether the evolutionary processes of cultural integration can influence the structures of ethnic/national languages; (ii) the extent to which changes in language structure may result in a loss of certain elements characteristic of the culture related to the language; (iii) what that long-term (socio-political) consequences may be as an effect of the remarkable weakening and subsequent disappearance of the elements of ethnic cultures that function as determinants of ethnic/national identity. Considering the size of this article, none of the aforementioned issues will be solved. Nevertheless, some aspects of language–culture interface are identified, while the problem of ecological interdependence between language and culture is illustrated in the case of the death of Dyirbal. Changes in Dyirbal and examples of language expressions from English and Polish illustrating the cultural imprints in language structure are discussed from the perspective of cognitive methodologies.

    The article presents linguistic phenomena from the initial stage of the poet’s work when the modernist writing model prevailed. Leopold Staff wrote a reflexive and descriptive triptych in which, by resorting to a juxtaposition to the Young Poland movement poetry, he created paradise landscapes of a deserted island surrounded by sea water, drowned in light and colour. In order to recreate the protagonist’s dreams he resorted to poetic imagery at various levels of text organization. The linguistic phenomena in the realm of syntactic forms refer to the functions of exclamations, hypotaxis and parataxis, the role of arrangements of conjugation rows, the rhythm of verses combined in a hendecasyllable with ABBA rhymes. The following figures of speech were used: antithesis, rhetoric questions, inversions, apostrophes etc. As for semantic transformations, an important role was played by sensual and mental metaphors, semantic poetism, personification and comparisons. The lexical phenomena were related to applying the style-related function of vocabulary that is chronologically diverse (artistic neologisms, neo-semantisms, old-fashioned words); geographically diverse (dialects) and word-formation diverse (derivatives of adpositional phrases in order to condense the text to hendecasyllable verses).

Wileńskie nazwy wyekscerpowane ze współczesnych przewodników po Mieście romantyków, zinterpretowane zgodnie z zasadami językoznawstwa erudycyjnego, „ocalają od zapomnienia” nie tylko sygnowane nimi mickiewiczowskie miejsca; pozwalają też na rekonstrukcję tamtej wileńskiej topografii.
    Vilnius University, addresses of subsequent residences, the names of meeting places, address of a masonic lodge, names of the houses in which Vilnius social life flourished, addresses of Józef Zawadzki’s publishing house, Grand Theater on Trakų Street, Basilian Monastery, Konrad Room, professor Jundziłł’s Botanical Garden, garden with osteria “Chiny”, eatery “Tivoli”, Belmont – mountain of the Philarets, Gate of Dawn, Vilnius Cathedral, Church of St. Johns, interwar Mickiewicz Street... – all these places related to the author of Sir Thaddeus became the reason for linguistic philological reflections defending the thesis that Vilnius is the City of Mickiewicz, who spent one of the most interesting periods of his life there. The Vilnius names excerpted from current travel guides to the City of Romantics and interpreted in accordance with the rules of erudite linguistics not only save Mickiewicz’s places from consigning to oblivion, but also permit to reconstruct Vilnius topography.

    Opis:
    Celem artykułu jest próba usytuowania nieznanego współczesnym leksykografom (a tym samym kłopotliwego) pojęcia „kompetencje odpornościowe” w dyskursie dotyczącym kompetencji modelowego nauczyciela — nauczyciela akademickiego przyszłości. Umiejętności rezyliencyjne umożliwiają „odnalezienie się” w nowej, zmiennej przestrzeni społecznej. W sytuacji zagrożenia pandemicznego rozwijanie kompetencji odpornościowych niezależnie od profesji nie podlega dyskusji. W zawodzie współczesnego nauczyciela, także akademickiego, wzmacnianie rezyliencji zdaje się wręcz koniecznością — kompetencje odpornościowe zapewniają sprawne realizowanie procesu dydaktycznego na odległość, niewątpliwie ułatwiają sprostanie wyjątkowym wymaganiom edukacyjnym w czasach pandemii.
    The aim of the article is to attempt to situate the term “resilience competence”, which is not known to modern lexicographers (and thus troublesome), in the discourse about the competencies of a model teacher: academic teacher of the future. Resilience competences allow people to find themselves in the new, changing social space. In a situation of pandemic, the development of competencies is indisputable, regardless of profession. In the profession of a modern, also academic teacher, strengthening resilience seems to be a necessity. Resilience competencies support remote education processes. They undoubtedly facilitate meeting the demands of education in a pandemic.

    Opis:
    Przedstawiany artykuł zawiera porównanie fragmentów Starego Testamentu Biblii Wujka z tymi przygotowanymi przez Klementynę z Tańskich Hoffmanową i opublikowanymi w tekście pt. Pismo Święte wybrane z ksiąg Starego i Nowego Zakonu, objaśnione uwagami pobożnych uczonych i ofiarowane matkom i dzieciom polskim (1846). Przeprowadzone analizy ukazują, że dokonane przez Hoffmanową przesunięcia kolejności wersetów biblijnych, zmiany gramatyczne, leksykalne, kondensacje, opuszczenia i różnorodne w swym charakterze dodatki dowodzą, że w przypadku omawianego utworu mamy do czynienia z parafrazą a nie tłumaczeniem. Omawiany utwór to przedstawienie treści biblijnych w sposób, który pozwolił XIX-wiecznym czytelnikom, a przede wszystkim czytelniczkom, je poznać, zrozumieć, wyciągnąć z nich wnioski i nimi żyć.
    The article presents the comparison of the fragments of the Old Testament translated by Jakub Wujek and those elaborated by Klementyna Hoffmanowa born Tańska, published in her work The Holy Scripture selected from the Books of the Old and New Testament, furnished with the comments of the pious scholars and offered to the Polish mothers and children (1846). The performed analysis has demonstrated that the modifications introduced into the biblical text by Hoffmanowa, including the shifts in the sequence of verses, grammatical and lexical changes, condensations and omissions, as well as various additions prove that the work is a paraphrase and not a translation. The work by Hoffmanowa presents the biblical content in a way that made it accessible to the 19th century readers, especially the female readers, who wished to know it, understand it, infer from it, and live according to it.
