Opis:
The article outlines the essence of motivational readiness of future teachers for professional activity, stability of motivation and orientation to the pedagogical profession. The author describes three groups of motives and leading factors in professional orientation. The results of the experimental study of the level of students' motivation readiness for future pedagogical activity using the method of studying the direction of B. Bass and the adapted variant of the method of diagnostics of the person for motivation to the success of T. Ehlers are presented. According to the research, over 73% of the respondents in the control groups and 75.2% in the experimental groups showed a low and medium level of motivation readiness for pedagogical activity (only about 5% of the students showed a high level according to the studied indicators). It is proved that traditional approaches to professional training of teachers do not provide the proper level of formation of the personality orientation of the future specialist on the pedagogical activity, and, therefore, on the formation of their readiness to this activity. The expediency of introducing corresponding corrections into the content and procedural component of the teacher training, the need of development and introduction of new approaches in the educational process of higher education is substantiated.

This article considers how insights from psychology and educational research can contribute to enhancing teacher training. Developments in early childhood pedagogy encourage changes in the way future educators are trained. This article discusses concepts of education in pedagogical studies and the competences that are required of the future teacher. Individualization of the teaching process requires curriculum modifications, innovative ideas, creating proprietary curriculum. The article is a search/or review based on the teacher training literature for answers on how to train future teachers to be flexible, reflective, decisive and innovative. How can teachers be supported in a way so that teachers can help themselves to be teachers?
W artykule rozważono, w jaki sposób spostrzeżenia z psychologii i badań edukacyjnych mogą przyczynić się do ulepszenia szkolenia nauczycieli. Rozwój pedagogiki wczesnoszkolnej zachęca do zmian w sposobie kształcenia przyszłych pedagogów. W artykule omówiono koncepcje kształcenia na studiach pedagogicznych oraz kompetencje przyszłego nauczyciela. Indywidualizacja procesu nauczania wymaga modyfikacji programów nauczania, innowacyjnych pomysłów, stworzenia autorskiego programu nauczania. Artykuł jest poszukiwaniem/przeglądem literatury dotyczącej szkolenia nauczycieli w celu znalezienia odpowiedzi na pytanie, w jaki sposób kształcić przyszłych nauczycieli, aby byli elastyczni, refleksyjni, zdecydowani i innowacyjni. Jak można wspierać nauczycieli, aby sami mogli pomóc sobie w byciu nauczycielami.

A discussion on the quality of initial teacher education held in the European Union and a declining number of candidates for teacher training programmes are the reasons for an empirical exploration of candidates’ motives to choose a teaching career. International research provides knowledge on the topic, hence the article’s focus on theoretical and empirical analysis of Polish and Portuguese students’ motives for choosing ITE, as compared to their place of residence. 308 students (163 from Poland and 145 from Portugal) participated in the survey. The article presents survey results, which point to the dominant role of students’ own interests in choosing a degree in teaching. The prevailing number of respondents declared a village as their place of residence. When choosing a degree in teaching, the surveyed group was mainly influenced by their teachers and peer environment.
Tocząca się w krajach Unii Europejskiej dyskusja na temat jakości kształcenia nauczycieli oraz utrzymująca się w wielu krajach członkowskich tendencja zmniejszającej się liczby kandydatów na studia pedagogiczne skłaniają do podjęcia eksploracji empirycznej problematyki motywacji kandydatów do podejmowania studiów pedagogicznych. Poszerzonej wiedzy w tym zakresie dostarczają badania międzynarodowe, stąd artykuł poświęcony jest analizie teoretyczno-empirycznej problematyki motywów wyboru studiów pedagogicznych przez studentów w Polsce i Portugalii z uwzględnieniem kontekstu ich miejsca zamieszkania. Oba kraje są członkami UE i realizują jej założenia strategiczne. W badaniach uczestniczyło 308 studentów, w tym 163 z Polski oraz 145 z Portugalii. Artykuł finalizowany jest wnioskami, wynikającymi ze zgromadzonego materiału, które wskazują na dominującą rolę własnych zainteresowań studentów w procesie wyboru studiów pedagogicznych, w tym najliczniejszą grupę stanowią zarówno w Polsce, jak i Portugalii, studenci deklarujący wieś jako miejsce zamieszkania. W badanej grupie, na wybór studiów pedagogicznych mniejszy wpływ miały tradycje rodzinne niż nauczyciele i środowisko rówieśnicze.

We use the freely available program Praat to create a vowel-training application for learners of English familiar with IPA transcription. The application is easy to operate, allowing users to change the training difficulty, providing the listeners with immediate feedback, and adapting to their performance during a training session. To evaluate the effectiveness of the Trainer, performance of 59 Czech learners during a single training session and across multiple sessions was tracked. Results showed improvement both between sessions and within sessions. In the final training session, vowel identification accuracy showed considerable resistance to gradual addition of increasing levels of noise. Testing the trainer with additional 52 learners showed significantly higher error-rates for low-frequency words and supported the importance of top-down lexical effect in vowel identification.

The article presents the analysis results concerning the individual evaluation of student internships in Russian language classes in an elementary school. Ninety-nine teachers’ opinions on the completed individual student internships were analyzed. The research has proved that according to these opinions students are prepared to work at school. The analysis has also revealed that some aspects of preparation for the teaching profession require improvement. These are, among others, such issues as the use of new technologies in the classroom, the development of students’ intercultural competence, the character of teaching second foreign language. The author concludes that the questionnaire form should be modified.

Badania podjęte w programie KEGA dotyczą zdolności radzenia sobie z wykorzystaniem ICT w praktyce – zarówno w kształceniu nauczycieli, jak również w codziennej pracy szkolnej. W artykule przedstawiono wyniki badań przeprowadzonych za pomocą badań kwestionariuszowych.

W artykule przedstawiono organizację procesu szkolenia, jego kontroli i wykorzystanie psów służbowych w ochronie polskich granic przez Wojska Ochrony Pogranicza w latach 1945–1991. W opracowaniu omówiono m.in. takie problemy, jak: organizacja ośrodków zajmujących się szkoleniem przewodników i psów służbowych, przebieg procesu szkolenia w ośrodkach, warunki, jakim powinni odpowiadać przewodnicy i psy przeznaczone do służby, oraz efekty uzyskiwane w służbie granicznej.
This article describes the organization of the training courses for service dogs, their verification procedures and the use of the dogs in the protection of Polish borders performed by the Border Protection Troops in the years 1945–1991. The article discusses such problems as, inter alia, the organization of the training centers for guide and service dogs, the requirements that both the dog handlers and the animals themselves had to meet and the results of the dogs’ performance during their service time.

Opis:
The article identifies the barriers in cooperation between vocational schools and employers, which are connected with the economic and social environment of schools. The main source of information on employers’ perspective is a survey of employers cooperating with vocational schools in Lublin (Poland). The survey results shows that employers are set on increasing the number of hours of students’ practical vocational training in the workplace, but are reluctant to undertake more costly and more demanding forms of cooperation with schools, like participating in vocational exams, training teachers or providing equipment for school workshops. It was argued that employers’ limited willingness to cooperate stems i.a. from fragmentation of the enterprise sector in Poland, poorly developed cooperative bonds between enterprises, and the small scale of recruitment problems during most of the last two decades.
W artykule zidentyfiowano bariery współpracy szkół zawodowych z pracodawcami, które są związane z otoczeniem gospodarczym i społecznym szkół. Głównym źródłem informacji o perspektywie pracodawców było badanie ankietowe pracodawców współpracujących ze szkołami zawodowymi znajdującymi się w Lublinie (Polska). Wyniki badań pozwalają stwierdzić, że pracodawcy dostrzegają potrzebę zwiększenia wymiaru czasowego zajęć praktycznych w zakładach pracy, jednak są niechętni do podejmowania bardziej kosztownych i wymagających form współpracy ze szkołami, jak udział w egzaminach zawodowych, szkolenie nauczycieli czy wsparcie wyposażenia szkolnych warsztatów. W opracowaniu stwierdzono, że ograniczona gotowość pracodawców do współpracy wynika m.in. z rozdrobnienia sektora przedsiębiorstw w Polsce, słabo wykształconych więzi kooperacyjnych między przedsiębiorstwami, a także niewielkiego nasilenia problemów rekrutacyjnych przez większą część ostatnich dwóch dekad.

This article concerns the issue of emotional and social competences of a teacher in the face of the needs of contemporary education, in relation to the global situation caused by the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus. The state of emergency introduced today is a new context for the changes taking place, challenging every sphere of life, including education. The publication presents reports from selected international and national reports, showing the state of the introduced remote education, which highlighted a multitude of problems for representatives of the school environment. The most important educational problems concern the deteriorating mental condition of pupils and teachers and the crisis in interpersonal relations. Attention was drawn to a neglected area in pedagogy, which is the sphere of emotional and social competences of the student and the teacher, as well as to the necessity of their compulsory inclusion in the problems of research. The article presents the position that school can be an environment for conscious learning of emotions, therefore it is important that teachers have emotional and social competences at an optimal level in order to provide effective support. It is assumed that only emotionally and socially competent teachers can stimulate the development of these competences in pupils. It has been recognised as a new task, challenge and educational need.

Background. Disturbances in functioning associated with performing simple tasks of daily living, especially in conjunction with a constant hazard of incidental falls, constitute major challenges any elderly population has to face.Aim. To assess the effects of two specifically structured physical rehabilitation regimens on enhancing individual functional capabilities and minimising the risk of incidental falls among the frail octogenarians (over 85).Material and methods. Duration of the study was 3 months (comprising two exercise sessions a week). Fifty subjects (mean age: 87 years) randomised into two groups: Group I – 25, Group II (controls) – 18. Group I was assigned an intensive rehabilitation regimen combining active exercises, multi-sensory training, instruction on performing safe postural shifts and rising effectively from falls, walking short distances; Group II – active exercises and multi-sensory training. Twenty five subjects in Group I and 18 subjects in Group II completed the study,. The Timed UP & GO and Tinetti (POMA) tests were applied respectively to assess individual mobility before and upon completion of the study. The results were subsequently processed, inter alia, with a non-parametric Wilcoxon test.Results. Statistically significant improvement was observed in Group I (p<0.05) in the Timed UP & GO test score (mean time 26.1 sec. vs. 20.9 sec.), as well as in the Tinetti (POMA) test (balance assessed before: 11.2 ±1.8 after 13.1 ±1.8, gait assessed before: 8.9 ±1.5; after 10.4 ±1.7), whereas the changes observed in Group II were not statistically significant.Conclusions. Structured rehabilitation regimen combining diverse active exercises, walking training, multi-sensory training, instruction on safe postural shifts and rising effectively from incidental falls is believed to significantly enhance individual functional capabilities in the frail octogenarians.
Wstęp. Istotnymi problemami starości są rozmaite zaburzenia występujące podczas wykonywania czynności życia codziennego oraz upadki. Cel. Ocena wpływu dwóch programów rehabilitacji na wykonanie prostych czynności ruchowych i ryzyko upadków u osób po 85 roku życia z zaburzeniami czynności życia codziennego. Materiał i metody. Badaniami objęto 50 osób (32 K, 18 M., śr. wieku 87 lat), podzielonych losowo na dwie grupy. Grupa I realizowała program rehabilitacji, obejmujący ćwiczenia czynne wolne, ćwiczenia sensomotoryczne, ćwiczenia zmiany pozycji i marsz na krótkim dystansie oraz naukę podnoszenia się po upadku. Grupa II wykonywała ćwiczenia czynne wolne, ćwiczenia sensomotoryczne. Oba programy rehabilitacji trwały 3 miesiące i były realizowane 2 razy w tygodniu. W grupie I ukończyło program 25 badanych, a w grupie II – 18. Na początku i końcu badań wykonywano test Timed UP & GO oraz test Tinetti (POMA). Przed rozpoczęciem badań nie odnotowano istotnych statystycznie różnic pomiędzy badanymi grupami. Do opisu materiału badawczego wykorzystano podstawowe parametry statystyczne, a w celu porównania uzyskanych wyników zastosowano test t-Studenta oraz nieparametryczny test Wilcoxona. Wyniki. Rezultaty wykonywania testów poprawiły się w sposób istotny statystycznie (p<0,05) tylko w grupie I. Średni czas wykonania testu UP & GO przed programem wynosił 26,1 s, a po jego zakończeniu 20,9 s. Wyniki testu Tinetti, zarówno wynik sumaryczny, jak i ocena równowagi (przed programem 11,2 ±1,8 po 13,1 ±1,8) oraz chodu (przed programem 8,9 ±1,5 po 10,4 ±1,7) były lepsze. W grupie II różnice przed i po programie rehabilitacji nie były istotne statystycznie. Wnioski. Ćwiczenia sensomotoryczne połączone z nauką podnoszenia się po upadku i nauką zmiany pozycji oraz marszem na krótkim odcinku, stosowane u osób starszych z zaburzeniami czynności życia codziennego, wpływają na poprawę wykonywania tych czynności i zmniejszenie ryzyka upadków
