Opis:
Purpose: Nordic Walking (NW) is a sport that has a number of benefits as a rehabilitation method. It is performed with specially designed poles and has been often recommended as a physical activity that helps reduce the load to limbs. However, some studies have suggested that these findings might be erroneous. Study aim. The aim of this paper was to compare the kinematic, kinetic and dynamic parameters of lower limbs between Natural Walking (W) and Nordic Walking (NW) at both low and high walking speeds. Methods: The study used a registration system, BTS Smart software and Kistler platform. Eleven subjects walked along a 15-metre path at low (below 2 m⋅s–1) and high (over 2 m⋅s–1) walking speeds. The Davis model was employed for calculations of kinematic, kinetic and dynamic parameters of lower limbs. Results: With constant speed, the support given by Nordic Walking poles does not make the stroke longer and there is no change in pelvic rotation either. The only change observed was much bigger pelvic anteversion in the sagittal plane during fast NW. There were no changes in forces, power and muscle torques in lower limbs. Conclusions: The study found no differences in kinematic, kinetic and dynamic parameters between Natural Walking (W) and Nordic Walking (NW). Higher speeds generate greater ground reaction forces and muscle torques in lower limbs. Gait parameters depend on walking speed rather than on walking style.

Konsekwencje braku aktywności fizycznej oraz siedzącego trybu życia coraz większego kręgu ludzi stanowią obciążenie systemu zdrowia publicznego w skali światowej. Niedostateczna ilość ruchu sprzyja powstawaniu wielu chorób, uciążliwych dolegliwości, obniżeniu jakości i długości życia. W artykule dokonano przeglądu publikacji naukowych dotyczących wpływu nordic walkingu na zdrowie, opublikowanych w recenzowanych czasopismach, z wykorzystaniem baz PubMed, NCBI, PMC, ScienceDirect, Oxford Academic Journals i MDPI.
A lack of physical activity and a sedentary lifestyle are a burden to the public health system throughout the world. An insufficient amount of exercise contributes to the development of conditions, troublesome ailments, and a reduction in the quality and length of life. Walking training is based on the natural movement of walking. There have been many studies showing the benefits of Nordic Walking training for individual conditions. Physical activity has a therapeutic effect if the form of physical exercise is matched properly to the specific case. It is recommended that appropriate tests be carried out in advance to determine the appropriate intensity of training. Scientific articles published in peer-reviewed journals were reviewed. The online databases PubMed, NCBI, PMC, ScienceDirect, Oxford Academic Journals and MDPI include research and review papers written in Polish and English.

The walking robots are built to displace the loads on the not-aligned terrain. The mechatronic walking system protects much better the environment when its contact with the soil is discrete, a fact that limits the area that is crushed appreciatively. At the Polytechnic University of Bucharest a walking modular robot to handle farming tools has been developed. This walking robot has three twolegged modules. Every leg has three freedom degrees and a tactile sensor to measure the contact, which consists of the lower and upper levels. The body of the MERO (MEchanism RObot) walking robot carries a gyroscopic bearing sensor to measure the pitch and roll angles of the platform. The legs are powered by hydraulic drives and are equipped with potentiometric sensors. They are used to control the walking robot in the adaptability to a natural ground. A vehicle like that is Romanian Walking Robot MERO (Fig.1).

Another way to stimulate the occupational therapy, which involves the realm of the physical, mental and social man usually less active in general. The objectives of occupational therapy are similar to the general objectives underlying any form of physical activity, and that is the behavior of self-reliance, independence and efficiency. The aim of the study is to analyze different activation programs in relation to the functional capacity of women aged 60+.We analyzed two fundamentally different activation programs seniors: occupational therapy program implemented in the Daily Nursing Home for the Elderly in Gdansk and health training program in the form of Nordic Walking realized within statutory research. The material tested is 48 women over the age of 60, after 24 people training Nordic Walking 3 times a week for 60 minutes, and 24 people participating in occupational therapy.Physical activity is an effective means to maintain physical for a long time, it can also be an effective means of shaping it during aging. Physical activity should begin early. Then you can expect spectacular effects of training, and thus a high physical translates directly to high levels of positive physical health. You can expect to achieve in this area, the leader among his peers. You can go ahead and prepare for old age, efficient, independent and self.

The aim of the presented work is to describe the different trends in race walkers training and the biological adaptation of the body to the applied stresses, and to characterize the other phenomena accompanying this sport. The article is equally concerned with the scientific premises as well as the practical training indications. For a deeper characterization of the discussed problems, the biological considerations that underpin the selection of people to practice race walking are broadly described. It has been shown that diagnostic test that reveal the overall exercise potential of the body are useful tools in this area, and its specific development is related to the use of balanced training in which the most difficult part is to strive for optimal mastery of the sport walking technique. It was also suggested, that physiological, biomechanical and dietary determinants, which are assessed in scientific laboratories would be helpful for trainers and race walkers in achieving championship in race walking. The general nature of race walking was supplemented with a description of the social phenomena associated with this sport competition. The conclusions drawn in this article indicate the importance of mastering the technique of walking, the predisposition to practicing this sport, the importance of a coach in achieving high sports results, and the opportunity of health benefits mainly through the practice of recreational walking.

Goran Trbuljak (b. 1948) is recognized as one of the central figures of Yugoslav Nova umjetnička praksa (New Art Practice), primarily for his early works that engaged in a questioning of the status of the figure of the artist and the institution of the exhibition. This article focuses on the centrality of various forms of self-concealment, primarily anonymity and the use of pseudonyms, in Trbuljak’s art. I also discuss what I refer to as the involuntary obfuscation that has come through Trbuljak’s association with conceptual art and institutional critique, labels that have tended to block rather than advance the discussion of his practice. I urge new paths to interpretation through considerations of Trbuljak’s interest in the street, walking, the body, and his insistence on a position liminality, never quite committing himself to one particular role, ideology or space. I refer to Michel de Certeau’s notions of the tactic and la perruque from The Practice of Everyday Life as a way to understand the political dimensions of Trbuljak’s tendencies.

Wstęp Choroba może uniemożliwić samorealizację w zakresie wykonywania pracy zawodowej. Zakład Ubezpieczeń Społecznych (ZUS), w ramach inicjatywy prewencji rentowej, podjął działania wspierające powrót chorych do pracy przez wdrożenie nowego modelu hybrydowej kompleksowej telerehabilitacji kardiologicznej (HKTK). Skuteczność HKTK w aspekcie powrotu do pracy oceniono według definicji ZUS. Wyniki Efektem HKTK była istotna poprawa wydolności fizycznej 7,6±2,0 vs 8,1±2,4 MET (p < 0,0001) i dystansu 6-MWT 448,5±79,2 m vs 480,5±84,1 m (p < 0,0001). Pacjenci dobrze przyjęli HKTK. Odnotowano 82,8% chorych współpracujących, 16,2% częściowo współpracujących, 1% niewspółpracujących. Po HKTK 48 chorych odzyskało zdolność do pracy. Wnioski Nowy model HKTK realizowany w ramach prewencji rentowej ZUS jest akceptowaną przez chorych formą rehabilitacji, odznacza się dobrą współpracą pacjentów, prowadzi do poprawy wydolności fizycznej i umożliwia 48,48% chorych podjęcie pracy. Background The Polish Social Insurance Institution (SII), under its pension prevention initiative, has taken measures to support the patients return to work and thus developed a new model of hybrid, comprehensive, cardiac telerehabilitation (HCCT). The aim of the study was to analyze the effects of HCCT in terms of its acceptance, adherence to and influence on patients’ physical capacity and ability to return to work. Material and Methods The study included 99 patients, aged 54.6±6.3 years, who suffered from cardiovascular diseases. They participated in a 24-day HCCT consisting of preliminary and final examinations, 10 days of out-patients rehabilitation based on cycloergometer training (5 sessions) and Nordic walking training (10 sessions), and 12 days of home telerehabilitation based on Nordic walking training. The effectiveness of HCCT was assessed by comparing changes in functional capacity expressed by metabolic equivalent of task (MET) and a 6-min walking test (6-MWT) distance from the beginning and the end of HCCT. Acceptance of HCCT was evaluated using a questionnaire. Adherence to HCCT was assessed by the patients’ participation in the training sessions. Effectiveness of HCCT in terms of return to work was assessed according to SII definition. Results Hybrid, comprehensive, cardiac telerehabilitation resulted in significant improvement of functional capacity 7.6±2.0 vs. 8.1±2.4 MET (p < 0.0001) and distance in 6-MWT 448.5±79.2 m vs. 480.5±84.1 m (p < 0.0001). There were 82.8% of adherent, 16.2% of partially adherent and 1% of non-adherent patients. After HCCT 48 patients were able to return to work. Conclusions Hybrid, comprehensive, cardiac telerehabilitation was well accepted and led to the improvement of the patients’ physical capacity. Adherence to HCCT was high and allowed 48.48% of patients return to work. Med Pr 2017;68(1):61–74

Opis:
Recently introduced on the Polish market, the Finnish product under the name of Nordic Walking gains more and more supporters and followers. When trying to determine the essence of Nordic Walking we should first define the term ‛physical activity’ and ‛recreation’. Nordic Walking belongs to a general motor activity. Physical activity is the amount of exercise or physical activity needed to develop and maintain one’s health. Quite a simple technique of motion while walking with poles, the possibility of maintaining control of exercise intensity and relatively inexpensive (compared to other disciplines) sports equipment contribute positively to the versatility of Nordic Walking and its availability to any person interested in this sport. The march with the poles is one of the most commonly undertaken, and the most natural form of exercise in everyday life, especially for people in middle and old age, as these particular age groups dominate in Nordic Walking. It does not require large financial outlays or specific time and place, as opposed to practicing fitness or bodybuilding. One can just go out for a daily walk and simply take the poles with them.

Nowadays there are more people living in the cities than in the countryside. With the growing number of multistorey buildings, which are built very fast, the number of possible collapses is rising. Rescue missions in ruins of such constructions pose a possible threat to the life of the rescuers. To avoid involving people in such missions mobile robots are used. The use of a six-legged robot in Urban Search and Rescue missions is proposed due to its static stability while walking on rough terrain. In this paper six-legged walking robot Messor is described. Its mechanical structure was designed in such a way, that negotiating obstacles met in urban space is possible. In order to perform such tasks as walking over rough terrain or climbing stairs the robot is equipped with significant number of on-board sensors. The control algorithms, which take advantage of mechanical structure were developed. At the beginning a mechanical structure of the robot is described. Next, the design of the robot control system architecture is considered. Then the robot sensory system is presented and afterward the application software is characterized.

Opis:
Chronic lower limb ischemia significantly impairs the everyday functioning of the patient as it progresses. Patients complain of the inability to walk longer distances, climb stairs or walk briskly. The aim of this study was to assess the influence of chronic lower limb ischemia on the long-term results measured using the Walking Impairment Questionnaire (WIQ), as well as to establish a relationship between our results and selected variables, i.e. BMI (Body Mass Index), ICD (Intermittent Claudication Index), ACD (Absolute Claudication Index) and gender. Materials and Methods. The research group consisted of 50 individuals diagnosed with lower limb ischemia stage IIb according to the Fontaine classification. All of the patients experienced intermittent claudication after walking a distance of less than 200 m. The mean age was 64,4±6,0 years for men (n=38) and 62,7±6,9 years for women (n=12). BMI for both sexes was 27,1±4,1 kg/m². The study used the WIQ questionnaire, which consists of 21 items and evaluates walking speed, walking distance and stair climbing. In order to obtain information concerning gender, age and BMI of the patients, an original survey was created and distributed. In addition, the patients were evaluated using the treadmill stress test, which helps to determine the severity of claudication among patients. Results. Our research showed no correlation between the WIQ score and the gender of the patient. A statistically significant correlation was found between ICD, ACD and WIQ scores (rho=0,760, rho=0,770). No relationship was observed between the BMI and WIQ score (p=0,612). Scores in the individual WIQ domains strongly correlated with the total score obtained in the questionnaire. Conclusions. The WIQ questionnaire proved to be a reliable tool for assessing motor function and disorders in patients with chronic lower limb ischemia. The results of the treadmill stress test complied with the score of the questionnaire. There was no correlation between the WIQ score and gender, as well as with the BMI of the patients.
