Niniejszy artykuł jest próbą zwięzłego przedstawienia statusu mediolingwistyki jako dyscypliny oraz jej podstaw teoretyczno-metodologicznych. Po krótkiej refleksji na temat znaczenia samego pojęcia zostanie poruszona kwestia różnych ujęć medium oraz zaproponowana, obecnie powszechnie stosowana na potrzeby badań językoznawczych nad komunikatami i procesami komunikacyjnymi, interpretacja medialności i przekazu medialnego. Na tej podstawie przedstawione zostaną trzy kluczowe kwestie i kierunki badawcze. W następnej kolejności zaprezentujemy pokrótce rozważania na temat typologii tekstów medialnych oraz ukażemy i skomentujemy najnowsze trendy rozwoju mediów. Głównym celem artykułu jest pokazanie uporządkowanego inwentarza stosowanych metod z zakresu analizy tekstu i języka w mediolingwistyce. Na koniec wymienione zostaną zagadnienia badawcze zasługujące przyszłości na wnikliwszą analizę. Sformułujemy także dezyderaty dotyczące mediolingwistyki.

Celem przeprowadzonej pracy badawczej była analiza wpływu parametrów rehydratacji (temperatury i rodzaju medium) na wzrost objętości suszonych jabłek odmiany Ligol. Jabłka (plastry o grubości 3 i 10 mm, kostki o boku 10 mm) suszono następującymi metodami: konwekcja naturalna (temperatura suszenia 60°C), konwekcja wymuszona (suszarka tunelowa, parametry powietrza suszącego: 50, 60, 70°C, 0,5, 2 m/s), suszenie fluidalne (60°C). Susz rehydratowano w wodzie destylowanej (w temperaturach 20, 45, 70 i 95°C), soku jabłkowym (20°C), 0,5% roztworze kwasku cytrynowego (20°C) i 16,5% roztworze sacharozy (20°C). Badania wykazały wpływ rodzaju medium i temperatury na przebieg procesu rehydratacji.
The objective of the research work was to investigate the influence of rehydration parameters (temperature, immersion medium) on the volume increase of dried apples (var. Ligol). Apples (slices of 3 mm and 10 mm in thickness, cubes of 10 mm in thickness) were dried in the: drying chamber (natural convection at 60°C), convective dryer (at 50, 60, and 70°C and 0.5 and 2 m/s) and fluidized bed dryer (at 60°C). The dried apples samples were rehydrated by immersion in: distilled water (at 20, 45, 70, and 95), apple juice at 20°C, 0.5% citric acid solution at 20°C, 16.5% sucrose solution at 20°C. The results have shown that the immersion medium and temperature influence on the rehydration behaviour of dried apples.

W pracy przedstawiono badania Systemu Termoanemometru Falowego (STF), opracowanego i zbudowanego na podstawie koncepcji autora. Pierwotna idea znaczników cieplnych, podana przez Kovaszyna, posłużyła do opracowania STF przeznaczonego do określania prędkości przepływu medium poprzez pomiar czasu przelotu tych znaczników, unoszonych przez badane medium przepływowe (np. gaz), na dokładnie ustalonym a priori odcinku, będącym charakterystycznym parametrem konstrukcyjnym sensora pomiarowego. Zakres badań obejmuje analizę modelu z wykorzystaniem symulacji komputerowych, jak również badania laboratoryjne. Praca koncentruje się głównie na użyciu adekwatnych metod matematycznych do analizy modelu.
The paper deals with investigation of a Hot-Wire Anemometer System developed and built on the basis of the author's own design idea. The Hot-Wire Anemometer System (STE) is based on Kovasznay's idea of measuring the transit time of thermal markers drifted by the flowing medium (e.g. gas) on the a priori known interval, which is a design constant of the measuring converter. The scope of invastigation includes model studies employing computer simulation techniques as well as experiments on a laboratory stand. The work is focused mainly on the model studies with the use of adequate mathematical methods.

On the one hand, the article plays with ageless motifs, and on the other hand, it attempts to present an introduction to studying images in contemporary computer games. Video games, which are products of contemporary culture, often seek new notions and categories that would capture their characteristic features, whereas the philosophy of images provides definitions for the images created by contemporary culture. Bloch’s talent for creating intersensual, intertextual and – to some extent – performative, viewer-oriented images may animate also contemporary culture. Some past motifs recur in new media without losing their merits. In the framework of playing with those motifs, the article attempts at linking the philosophy of images represented by Ernst Bloch with computer games – one of the latest media which convey the images.

The article reviews the current state of knowledge on photography and the use of photographs in archaeological research. The discovery of photography was a breakthrough in the history of archaeology. The mechanical method of image registration, considered to be devoid of subjective human intervention, was supposed to guarantee the neutrality and objectivity of the visual representation. Belief in realism of photography has led to it becoming the primary form of documentation in archaeology, for boththe research process and the relics themselves. This article will attempt to answer the question of whether we can trust the reality captured by the photographer? The reading of a photograph is done through culturally shaped codes. The ability to decipher those codes depends on the knowledge and experience of the recipient. The photographic image relies on the photographer’s subjective view of the subject, as well as the medium used, which influences the nature of the representation.

W artykule przedstawiono rezultaty symulacji pracy parowacza płytowego, w którym zastosowano nanociecze (woda - Cu, woda - Al2 O3 i woda - TiO2) o stężeniach 0-5% w celu poprawy efektywności wnikania ciepła po stronie medium grzewczego. Do obliczeń wymienników ciepła wykorzystano równania opisujące własności wybranych nanocieczy. Analizie poddano liczbę płyt wymiennika wymaganą do osiągniecia założonej mocy, zmianę przewodności cieplnej nanocieczy, zależność liczby Prandtla od stężenia zastosowanych nanoczastek oraz wymaganą moc pompy. Otrzymane wyniki wskazują na 15% poprawę współczynnika wnikania ciepła po stronie nośnika ciepła oraz 28% spadek wymaganej mocy pompy, co prowadzi do zmniejszenia gabarytów wymiennika oraz obniżenia zużycia energii.

Opis:
Moving prose to the screen is not a simple operation of transforming words into images and sounds. The languages of literature and cinema are so different that the cinematographic adaptation actually means creating a new piece of art – that the film is – from the beginning. The movies that I would like to present draw deeply on the written text, but at the same time they do not reduce it only to a context or inspiration and they are not an exact screening. Instead, they become a unique cinematographic interpretation of literature – a meeting between great prose and great cinema. I would like to prove that adaptations such as Mother Joan of the Angels, The Hour-Glass Sanatorium and A Gentle Creature stand as a nobilitation of literature, showing its audiovisuality by means of carefully thought out images and sounds. However, every interpretation depends on an individual vision of the author, therefore it would be a mistake to judge it by the accuracy of translation.

The article discusses regulations-based requirements for medium-voltage, explosion-proof switchgears. The authors presented the reasons for launching the development of a new explosion-proof switchgear. The structure of the new switchgear was presented, along with the testing range of low- and medium-voltage electric circuits and a fire-proof casing of the explosion-proof switchgear.

Since the 1990s, the motif of mimetically reproduced human skin, concentrating the recipient’s attention on the sense of touch and on the surface which separates theinside from the outside, seems to have been more and more popular. It has been quite ostentatiously exposed in the works of such well-known artists as Ron Mueck, Patricia Piccinini, Pipilotti Rist, John Isaacs, and Nicole Tran Ba Vang, becoming anemblem of the present. The paradox is, however – and this is one of the claims formulated in the present essay – that the motif’s most complex versions do not appear in photography, installations or the new media, but in easel painting which has been often dismissed as inadequate to new ideas. To provide evidence – the paintings of Magdalena Moskwa, Bartosz Kokosiński, Paweł Matyszewski, Grzegorz Sztwiertnia, Saskia de Kleijn, and Marina Schulze – the author has distinguished the so-called painterly dermatology. The present time, which offers no striking generational manifestoes or dominant artistic currents, has brought us a revealing metaphor coined by Yuri Lotman who compares the activity of artists to the dissociated energy of a minefield where we can here random explosions but it is impossible to predict if and where they will actually take place. Thus, it is the author’s contention that the painterly dermatology can be perceived as one of such explosions – they can be distinctly “heard” on the contemporary global art stage and included as a singular phenomenon in a broader tendency connected to the exploration of the body in the era of media convergence.The selected artists, who have identified the motif of skin with the surface of a painting, have a initiated tension between the transformation of the body into the body of art, which is significantly close to the tradition of religious painting, and the transposition of the human skin into the skin of a painting, which stresses a metapainterly aspect and a dialog with the potential of the medium. The complexity of the painterly dermatology inaugurates a narrative which runs across not only of modernism and postmodernism, but also a centuries-old artistic tradition. Moreover, skin as a limit phenomenon is situated between the inside and the outside, putting this dualistic division into doubt. As a topic, it is both archaic and contemporary. Also, it should not be forgotten that the growing interest in the motif of skin is taking place in the context of changes of the hierarchy of the senses, downgrading sight in favor of touch and the tactile qualities of art which activate the sensomotoric and soma esthetic perception. After all, the sense of touch has always been located in the skin. Referring to Geoges Didi-Huberman, Hans Belting, and David Freedberg’s anthropology of painting as well as to Vilém Flusser’s extended philosophical dermatology, the author suggests that the easel painting provides the ground for the most complex artistic experiments in which the medium continues its self-critical work, being continuously reinvented, even though it does not remain as pure as Clement Greenberg wanted it to be. The question of the “painterly dermatology” corresponds to a claim of Rosalind Krauss that the “post-media era” does not dismiss the problem of the medium but readdresses it in a polemical context. The medium in the paintings of Moskwa, Matyszewski, Kokosiński, Sztwiertnia, de Kleijn, and Schulze, in which the picture of the skin is also the skin of the picture, has been defined in the essay as a network of conventions which determines a zone mediating between the material stratum of the painting and its aesthetic qualities, initiating critical and differentiating dialogs with the received tradition.

There is no literature (e.g. a novel, feature film) without a medium (e.g. a book, film), but one should be clearly differentiated from the other. Particular works can only be compared based on a comparison made between particular means of expression, i.e. media. A production-related and aesthetic approach, which has been regarded as unscientific for a long time, should be replaced by the much more appropriate media-related and aesthetic approach. Werner Faulstich and Ricarda Strobel’s reflections on the novelization of film refer to Ridley Scott’s picture titled Alien (1979), Richard J. Anobile’s movie novel (photonovel) which is based on Archie Goodwin and Walter Simonson’s comics as well as to Alan Dean Foster’s novelized screenplays. Moreover, references are also made to two popular-science books: Paul Scanlon and Michael Gross’s The Book of Alien (New York 1979) and H.R. Giger’s Giger’s Alien (Basel 1979), which are treated as “books written on the basis of a film”. The film Alien deals, in a disguised form, with the topic of a man’s fear of a woman as the one who gives birth. It describes the sequence of processes that occur in a woman’s body, from conception and pregnancy to birth, as seen by a man who is “on the outside”. A man perceives a woman’s reproductive capacity, which is unattainable to him, as something alien and disturbing.

Aktualnie wdziedzinie napędów, zresztą nie tylko kosmicznych, trwają intensywne poszukiwania nietoksycznych, bezpiecznych, tanich, dających się magazynować oraz posiadających dużą gęstość energii, jednoskładnikowych materiałów pędnych oraz utleniaczy. Takim związkiem chemicznym, będącym jednocześnie jednoskładnikowym materiałem pędnym oraz wydajnym utleniaczem jest znany już od blisko 200 lat nadtlenek wodoru. Pomimo faktu, że na przestrzeni ostatnich trzech dekad rozwoju napędów rakietowych pojawiło się wiele innych napędowych układów chemicznych, oferujących znaczne osiągi (stałe kompozytowe materiały pędne znalazły zastosowanie zarówno wpociskach, jak iwcywilnej eksploatacji przestrzeni kosmicznej, pojawiła się też kolejna generacja wysokoenergetycznych materiałów pędnych oraz wydajne katalizatory rozkładu hydrazyny oraz zaawansowane konstrukcje silników na ciekłe materiały pędne) to zainteresowanie nadtlenkiem wodoru oraz prace nad jego aplikacjami w technice rakietowej uległy obecnie wręcz gwałtownej eskalacji. Wpływ na to bez wątpienia mają też popularniejsze ostatnio ogólnoświatowe trendy poszukiwania „ekologicznych” czy też „zielonych” paliw. Inżynierowie od napędów, i nie tylko, ponownie zwracają uwagę na ten nietoksyczny, bezpieczny, tani, dający się magazynować oraz po siadający dużą gęstość energii, jednoskładnikowy materiał pędny i wydajny utleniacz zarazem.
Nowadays space propulsion technologies are urgent for less toxic, storable and environmentally friendly propellants and oxidizers – to replace nitrogen tetroxide (NTO) and hydrazine in certain applications. Hydrogen peroxide is a very attractive replacement oxidizer and monopropellant as well. The history of its use proves that H2O2 has high specific impulse, is cheap, safe and possesses desirable storage properties. It is commonly misunderstood that hydrogen peroxide cannot be stored for long periods of time. But it can, and It also can be utilized with success as a hypergolic fuel oxidizer combination and in such systems it would be highly desirable for virtually any high energydensity applications such as small but powerful gas generating systems, attitude control motors (hybrid ones for example), or main propulsion systems. These systems would be implemented on platforms ranging from guided bombs to replacement of environmentally unfriendly existing systems to manned space vehicles. Besides, hydrogen peroxide is a currently used as a storable, acceptable propellant which is finding use in various emerging systems, not only in propulsion technologies.

The study examines the innovativeness of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the Wielkopolska region and factors influencing innovation in 2001-2004. The analysis is made against the background of changes in innovativeness and factors determining innovation in 1992-2000. The author used the results of surveys conducted among 163 SMEs in Wielkopolska in 2005. Overall, SME innovativeness did not increase in the analyzed period compared with previous yeas. The innovativeness of enterprises tended to grow with an increase in company size, the level of education of company managers (owners) and the age of the company. Companies using the Internet, especially those using it for sale and purchase transactions, displayed greater innovativeness. Innovation is restrained by scant financial resources, outmoded equipment and machinery, high business risk and the absence of an active pro-innovation policy pursued by the government.

The objective of the paper is to present the results of pilot study carried out in July 2011 among 180 small and medium-sized enterprises who were beneficiaries of Measure III.2 Raising innovativeness and competitiveness of enterprises of the Regional Operational Programme for the Lodz Region for the years 2007-2013. Preliminary results show a significantly positive impact of investment subsidies on innovativeness and competitiveness of the enterprises. The described study aims to contribute to following more detailed research based on a larger sample of companies that were beneficiaries of Measure III.2, which the Authors intend to take. Its effect will consist in determination and evaluation of the actual effects of support (the so called net effect) separated from the effects of other factors.
