During the quarantines caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, artists without disabilities resorted to tactics considered as appropriate for art and activism by people with disabilities. They cripped artistic practice using strategies that had been developed for years by artists and activists with disabilities. In this essay I intend to analyse examples of such cripping practices. I will take the categories of horizontal aesthetics and bed activism as a starting point in order to point out the tension between temporality and chronicity as decisive in the context of the cripping of art (and other activities in public space). I also intend to point out that the creative strategies in question have deeper roots going back to 20th century neo-avant-garde practices.

The aim of the article is to look closely at the Internet actions of activists from the perspective of glocalization. It also aims at answering the question whether the Internet, as the basic tool of activists actions and internal and external communication, can be an independent and effective medium; in other words, can attention of wide public be won only thanks to the Web itself, without the use of mainstream media. Another question is, how is the flow of information, ideas or strategies directed: does the polycentric Web favour horizontal communication (between local units) or does it rather foster the vertical, but two-way path of communication, from the local to the global, and from the global to the local?

W artykule podjęta została kwestia wspólnotowego wymiaru aktywizmu społecznego oraz znaczenia, jakie aktywiści społeczni nadają innym ludziom. Na podstawie wywiadów narracyjnych autorka wyróżnia trzy aspekty wymiaru wspólnotowego: „bycie z”, „bycie przeciwko” i „bycie dla” innych (ludzi). Przeprowadzone badania i analizy są poszerzeniem wiedzy o polskim aktywizmie społecznym.
The issue of the community dimension of activism and the meaning that activists give to other people are raised in this paper. The authoress distinguishes three aspects of the community dimension of activism: “being with (others)”, “being against (others)” and “being for (others)” that have emerged from the analysis of narrative interviews. The results of the research as well as the analyses are an extension of knowledge in the field of Polish social activism.

Artykuł przedstawia wyniki badania dotyczącego jednej z dwóch istniejących obecnie w Polsce organizacji rodzicielskich działających na rzecz osób o nienormatywnych tożsamościach seksualnych/płciowych: My Rodzice – stowarzyszenie matek, ojców i sojuszników osób LGBTQIA. Jej działalność ukazana jest na tle zjawisk identyfikowanych współcześnie jako aktywizm rodzicielski. Badanie przeprowadzono w metodologii jakościowej, a metodą badawczą było studium przypadku o profilu etnograficznym, w ramach którego prowadzono m.in. obserwację uczestniczącą, wywiady indywidualne, analizę treści medialnych, analizę wybranych dokumentów, autoetnografię. W tekście omówiono wybrany aspekt tożsamości zbiorowej członkiń i członków organizacji, jakim jest rodzicielstwo normalizacyjne, przy czym normalizacja jest ujmowana przez pryzmat kategorii piętna społecznego Ervinga Goffmana. Rodzice-aktywiści podejmują różnego rodzaju praktyki neutralizujące („zacierające”, „rozpuszczające”, „osłabiające”) piętno dotyczące nienormatywnych tożsamości seksualnych i płciowych ich dzieci, korzystając z istniejących wzorów rodzicielstwa i rodziny.
The article presents the results of a study on one of the two currently existing parental organizations in Poland, operating in favor of gender-and-sexually non-normative persons: “We, the Parents – an association of mothers, fathers and allies of LGBTQIA people”. Its activity is presented against the background of phenomena identified as parental activism. The research is conducted in qualitative methodology; the leading research method is case study with an ethnographic profile, within which participant observation, individual interviews, media content analysis, an analysis of selected formal documents, and autoethnography were conducted. The text discusses an aspect of the collective identity of organization members, which is “normalizing parenthood”, while “normalization” is viewed through the prism of Erving Goffman’s social stigma category. Parents–activists engage in various practices to neutralize (‘blur’, ‘dissolve’, ‘weaken’) the stigma of their children’s non-normative sexual and gender identities, using existing parenting and family patterns.

Ordoliberalism is a German economic and legal doctrine, in which ethics occupies a privileged place. The basic premise is the freedom and responsibility of human beings. In contrast, the starting point for considering ordoliberalism as a doctrine is the economic, social and political order. The most prominent representative of this doctrine was Walter Eucken. Achievements of this outstanding economist, and other representatives of this school underlay the concept of the German social market economy and EU competition policy. The aim of this article is to present the concept of Eucken’s competitive order and describe its philosophical and ethical foundation. The article uses the method of descriptive analysis and literaturę studies.

„Down is Israel, Upstairs United States, and Refugees are Palestinians” – Activists, Integration Projects and Self-organization of Refugees in Rog’s Space in LjubljanaSince 2015 Slovenia has become an important place on the Balkan refugee route. From the transit country it transformed into a country where more and more refugees decide to settle their lives. The article describe the story of Second Home – a place created by and for refugees and Slovenian activists. Activities fund by integration programs are critically analyzed by one of the “beneficiaries” of the projects – an Iranian refugee. The critical perspective reveals paternalistic behavior of privileged local activists involved in helping refugees. The example of a small community of refugees and activists in Ljubljana points to a broader problem when NGO organizations and volunteers replace the state’s duties and obligations. „Na dole to Izrael, na górze Stany Zjednoczone, a uchodźcy to Palestyńczycy” – aktywiści, projekty integracyjne i samoorganizacja uchodźców w przestrzeni Rog w LjubljanieSłowenia od 2015 roku stała się ważnym miejscem na bałkańskim szlaku uchodźców. Z kraju tranzytowego przekształca się w kraj, w którym coraz więcej uchodźców postanawia ułożyć sobie życie. Artykuł pokazuje historię Second Home – miejsca stworzonego przez i dla uchodźców oraz aktywistów słoweńskich. Działania, na które dostali dofinansowanie w ramach programów integracyjnych, poddane są krytycznej analizie oczami jednego z ich „beneficjentów” – uchodźcy z Iranu. Krytyczna perspektywa obnaża paternalizm uprzywilejowanych lokalnych działaczy, włączonych w pomoc uchodźcom. Historia niewielkiej społeczności uchodźców i aktywistów w Ljubljanie ukazuje szerszy problem zastępowania przez organizacje pozarządowe i wolontariuszy państwa w jego obowiązkach.

Artykuł mierzy się z problemem społecznej i politycznej aktywności polskich młodych dorosłych (osób między 18 a 25 rokiem życia). W tekście zostało podkreślone, że tytułowy problem powiązany jest z wieloma innymi istotnymi kwestiami, takimi jak przyszłość krajowego społeczeństwa obywatelskiego oraz perspektywy rozwoju kultury politycznej. Zasadnicze dane o społeczno-politycznej aktywności młodych Polaków przedstawione zostały na podstawie informacji z badań społecznych. Analiza ukazała niedostatek obywatelskiego zaangażowania w rozpatrywanej grupie wiekowej.
The article deals with the problem of social and political activism of Polish young adults (people between 18 and 25 year of life). In text, it has been highlighted, that addressed topic is connected with many crucial issues, such as: the future of the domestic civic society and the prospects of the political culture. According to the human research studies, main data about activism of youth Poles has been presented. The scrutiny showed lack of civic engagement in analyzed age group.

The article presents one of the newest proposal in research for a general theory of public relations. The most popular general theories of public relations, i.e. the excellence theory, the contingency theory, the relationship management theory are corpocentric. They assumes, that organizations “invented” public relations. One of the newest approach based on the stakeholder theory shows that the discipline derives from the group standing vis-a-vis organization, mainly activists. Moreover, it particularly emphasizes the role of ethics and power within the process of creating and maintaining of relationships.

Małgorzata Figura’s article is an attempt to capture the social roles of children when faced with the threat of the impending climate catastrophe. The introduction aims to draw attention to the need to give the floor to young people who can alert the public to changes taking place in the world. This necessity is stressed by researchers who represent children’s studies and who emphasize the importance of children’s perspective in literature and in scientific and social discourses. Figura’s analysis of selected literary texts allows us to see this turn towards the child, which at the same time is also the child’s turn towards nature.

Currently, there is a big discussion about judicial activism in continental legal systems. This phenomenon is rather negatively described, as the breaking the fundamental principle of separation of powers. In this paper, it will be demonstrated that, although Hungary belongs to civil law system, where judges are not allowed to be a lawmakers, actually they do make law. In Hungarian law, there is a great number of cases when judges evidently make law. What is more, their activism has a very positive impact on the whole legal system; judges make law more just and uniform, and at the same time enhance its certainty. In the following parts of the paper, it will be described the lawmaking role of judges, particular inlegal fields such as: civil law, criminal law, labor law etc.

The aim of this article is to guide the Justice Antonin Scalia’s originalism concept of the interpretaion of the Constitution of the United States, in contrast to the views on the interpretation of constitutional provisions, in particular the concept of judicial activism and a living (breathing) constitution. Young Citizen – Nonvoter? Students of Institute of Political Science (Pedagogical University in Cracow) as Participations of Electoral ProcessesTh e author concentrates on the problem of a role of young citizens in a contemporarystate and society. For this reason he assumes that their social and political attitudes,which are shaped today, will determine the quality of democracy in the future. In descriptionof motivation for voting we should notice not only the problem of internalapathy but also external alienation. Th e author, relating to empirical data from hisown research among students of Pedagogical University in Cracow, attempts to showreasons of their political passivity. Nonvoter in this study is understood as a personwho declares an absence in all kinds of election (local, parliamentary, presidential,European). Th e analysis of group of students who are potentially nonvoters leads tothe conclusion that young citizens are unplugged. Th ey are disappointed with contemporarypolitics and generally not connected with any political, social and localorganizations.

Stygmatyzacja menstruacji to problem często podnoszony przez artystki i teoretyczki feministyczne. Ich pracom towarzyszą rozmaite formy aktywizmu, których wybrane postulaty i strategie zostały przedstawione w tekście. Cele aktywistek menstruacyjnych na przestrzeni lat były zróżnicowane: od przełamania tabu towarzyszącego miesiączce, zmiany języka i zmiany nastawienia kobiet wobec krwawienia miesięcznego (i swojego ciała), przez nacisk na producentów środków higienicznych, po radykalne przedefiniowanie nie tylko naszych zwyczajów, ale i pojmowania menstruacji, a także – samej kategorii kobiecości. Artykuł analizuje przykłady działań, pokazując jednocześnie, w jaki sposób aktywizm menstruacyjny podejmuje kluczowe dla ruchu feministycznego kwestie.
The stigmatization of menstruation is a problem frequently addressed by feminist artists and theorists. Their work is accompanied by various forms of activism, some of whose key goals and strategies are presented in this text. The goals of menstrual activists have varied over the years: from breaking the taboo surrounding menstruation, changing the language and attitudes of women towards menstruation (and their own bodies), and putting pressure on producers of hygiene products, to the radical redefinition of not only our habits but also the understanding of menstruation and the very concept of femininity. The article analyzes examples of these actions, demonstrating how menstrual activism engages with issues central to the feminist movement.

This article discusses the evolution of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) from massive protests against corruption in 2011 to the present day. The AAP is the only Indian political party that emerged from a social movement and the traces of this origin are still visible in its program and activity. Its charismatic leader Arvind Kejriwal is the father of its success, but is also a slightly controversial figure who plays with different factions. The AAP might be able to play an important role in Indian politics if he repeats the Delhi success on a national scale. However, this depends on two key factors: 1. the inner construction of the party and the attractiveness of its proposal to the electorate and 2. the fate of the Indian National Congress (INC) that is visibly losing its strength. In Delhi, the AAP poached a huge number of voters from the INC. Should the Congress Party be further marginalised, the AAP could emerge as a strong force on the left side of the Indian political scene.
