Opis:
Some critical interpreters of Kant’s ethics accuse it for not corresponding to our common moral convictions. Kant claims that we are not allowed to lie to a murderer at the door even when he wants to kill his victim being our friend hidden by us. In this paper I argue against the opinion that there is a sufficient justification for this restriction in Kant’s ethics. If we reconsider the central point of Kant’s moral theory, which is categorical imperative, we will find several arguments for accepting lying in some cases. What is more, in extreme situations we are obliged to lie, for example when it is the only way to save the innocent victim’s life. Thus, one can suggest that Kant interpreted his own theory in a wrong way. In conclusion, I advocate for the view that, after all, Kant’s theory remains in agreement with the common moral intuitions.

The aim of this paper is to present how the imperative mood is defined in the descriptions of the inflection system of the contemporary Polish language. First of all, imperative mood is considered to be the value of one of the inflection categories of mood, and the forms representing it, e.g. zrób! (‘do!’), myj! (‘wash!’) are considered to be in opposition to the forms of the declarative and the conditional moods. On the other hand, the imperative is a grammatical means that expresses the so-called deontic modality and utterances with imperative forms are treated, before anything else, as acts of directive speech. This way of defining the imperative mood is the reason why the status of such forms as wygraj! (‘win!’), otrzymaj! (‘receive!’), (nie) umieraj! (‘[not] die!’) or bądź (szczęśliwy) (‘be [happy]’) is problematic, because they constitute a non-directive use of the imperative mood. The conclusion is that the way of defining the imperative mood in Polish requires clarification.

The aim of this paper is to discuss some statements concerning the syntactic features of imperative forms of the verbs BAĆ SIĘ, OBAWIAĆ SIĘ, LĘKAĆ SIĘ ('to fear (of) sth') made by M. Gębka-Wolak and A. Moroz in the article Individual syntactic propensities of imperative forms (on the basis of the verbs: BAĆ SIĘ, OBAWIAĆ SIĘ, LĘKAĆ SIĘ) (2011). The conclusion is that the imperative forms of the verbs BAĆ SIĘ, OBAWIAĆ SIĘ, LĘKAĆ SIĘ, against the opinion of these Authors, do not have syntactical requirements different from those of the forms of the indicative mood of these verbs.

The article presents the discrepancies in the interpretation of Immanuel Kant’s practical philosophy. First of all, Marek J. Siemek’s interpretation emphasising the intersubjective character of Kant’s thought is presented. It has been confronted with other contemporary receptions of the Critiques’ author’s work, including, among others, the socio-political interpretation by Hannah Arendt. While in the end, he criticism made by Theodor Adorno has been outlined, which shows the irremovable contradictions underlying Kant’s thought.

Celem artykułu jest pokazanie korzyści płynących z tłumaczenia dydaktycznego jako wspomagającego proces dydaktyczny przy prezentacji i utrwalaniu dość prostych formalnie, ale kłopotliwych ze względu na zróżnicowanie pragmatyczne i różnice kulturowe form imperatywu w językach polskim i niderlandzkim. Translacja dydaktyczna wypowiedzeń z rozkaźnikiem ma uświadomić studentom nieprzystawalność struktury w J1 i J2, zwrócić uwagę na rozkaźnik i jego funkcje w obu językach oraz uwrażliwić na charakter grzecznościowy języka niderlandzkiego, który „nie lubi” imperatywu i zastępuje te formy łagodniejszymi strukturami, m.in. koniunktiwem, trybem warunkowym czy strukturą z czasownikiem willen. Celowane tłumaczenie dydaktyczne rozwija u studentów umiejętność mediacji, pozwala uchronić przed złamaniem kodu grzeczności językowej w J2 oraz wyposaża w narzędzia translatorskie przed zajęciami z tłumaczenia specjalistycznego.
The aim of the article is to show the benefits of didactic translation as supporting the didactic process in introducing and revising imperative forms in Polish and Dutch, which are formally quite simple, but troublesome due to pragmatic and cultural differences. The didactic translation of commands is to make students aware of the incompatibility of the structure in L1 and L2, pay attention to the command and its functions in both languages, and recognize the politeness of the Dutch language, which "does not like" imperative and replaces these forms with softer structures, including conjunction, conditional mood or structure with the verb willen. Purposeful didactic translation develops students’ mediation skills, helps protect against breaking the politeness code in L2, and equips them with translation tools before specialized translation classes.

Spuścizna przedstawicieli polskiej XX-wiecznej myśli filozoficznoprawnej wciąż wymaga systematycznych opracowań i przybliżania składających się na nią idei, albowiem stanowi źródło interesujących, lecz czasami jeszcze nie odkrytych lub zapoznanych, poglądów naukowych. Ważną jej część stanowią koncepcje formułowane pod wpływem oddziaływania myśli Kanta, przy uwzględnieniu, iż ich autorzy podlegają różnorakim inspiracjom, często nawiązując w swojej twórczości do więcej niż jednego systemu filozoficznego. Filozofia Kanta jest źródłem inspiracji dla formułowania oryginalnych koncepcji o nowatorskim znaczeniu, w których jej założenia są modyfikowane i twórczo rozwijane. Znamienne, iż znacząco przyczyniła się do ukształtowania nawet stanowisk prezentujących zdecydowanie krytyczny stosunek do filozofii niemieckiej, przede wszystkim z uwagi na zarzucany jej idealizm i spekulatywny charakter. Okazuje się, iż kantowska filozofia w twórczości przedstawicieli polskiej XX-wiecznej myśli filozoficznoprawnej stanowi ważny przyczynek do rozważań dotyczących miejsca człowieka w społeczeństwie i we wspólnocie ogólnoludzkiej oraz relacji między jednostkami i roli prawa pozytywnego w ich kształtowaniu. Utwierdza w przekonaniu o konieczności podejmowania badań nad prawem w perspektywie antropologicznej i aksjologicznej, prowadząc do ukształtowania w określony sposób przedmiotu dociekań filozofii prawa. Doprowadziła także do ugruntowania poglądu o bezwzględnym nakazie poszanowania człowieczeństwa w każdej jednostce, stając się podstawą indywidualistycznego nurtu myślenia oraz pacyfizmu. Celem przedstawionych rozważań jest zatem całościowe przedstawienie wielokierunkowego wpływu filozofii Kanta na kształtowanie polskiej XX-wiecznej myśli filozoficzno prawnej.
The legacy of representatives of the 20th-century Polish philosophy of law thought still requires systematic studies and closer presentation of its ideas, for the ground that it is a source of interesting but sometimes not yet discovered or acquainted scientific concepts. An important part of it are concepts formulated under the influence of Kant's thoughts, taking into consideration that their authors are subject to various inspirations, often referring in their works to more than one philosophical system. Kant's philosophy is a source of inspiration for the formulation of original concepts of innovative sense, in which its assumptions are modified and creatively developed. It is significant that it significantly contributed to the shaping even such standpoints of view that presented a decidedly critical attitude towards German philosophy, mainly due to the alleged idealism and speculative nature. It turns out that Kant's philosophy in the works of representatives of Polish 20th-century philosophy of law thought constitutes an important contribution to concepts concerning the man’s place in society and in the global community, as well as the relationship between individuals and the role of positive law in shaping them. It confirms conviction that it is necessary to undertake research on law from an anthropological and axiological perspective, leading to the formation of the subject of research in the philosophy of law in a specific way. It also led to the consolidation of the view that there is an absolute imperative to respect humanity in every individual, becoming the basis of individualistic thinking and pacifism. The aim of the presented research is therefore a comprehensive presentation of the multidirectional influence of Kant's philosophy on the shaping of Polish 20th-century philosophy of law thought.

Chosen Language Means of Mitigation of Injunctions in Polish and in French An analysis was made for the words: może/peut-être (‘maybe, perhaps’) and trochę/un peu (‘a bit, a little’), as well as the phatic expressions, apologies and justifications as they belong to the strategy of mitigation. In both the languages, these means make up the cover of the injunctions. In French we can notice a smaller scope of the use of the imperative expressing an order in a direct way. It is usually replaced by indirect structures which are enhanced with the discussed means of mitigation.

The aim of this paper is to discuss several secondary problems related to the description of paradigms of Polish phraseological units with a verbal component, i.e. indication of the selected function of their imperative forms. The considerations focus on two general issues. Firstly, they present the possible contexts of using said phrases and, secondly, they verify the hypothesis that verbal phraseological units inherit the properties of verbs with regard to the possibility of occurrence in certain imperative form functions.

Artykuł dotyczy interpretacji gramatycznej ciągów tworzonych przez połączenie partykuły niech i form czasu teraźniejszego lub przyszłego czasowników, np. niech usiądę, niech usiądziemy, niech (Pan/i) usiądzie, niech (Państwo) usiądą. W opisach gramatycznych współczesnej polszczyzny charakteryzuje się je bądź jako formy fleksyjne trybu rozkazującego czasownika, bądź jako konstrukcje składniowe (i tym samym włącza się je do paradygmatu czasownika bądź je z niego wyklucza). Autorka poddaje analizie kryteria, którymi posługują się badacze opowiadający się za obiema interpretacjami, oraz konfrontuje je z różnymi typami użyć analizowanych ciągów oraz z użyciami form trybu rozkazującego tworzonymi w sposób syntetyczny. Przedstawione w tekście rozważania prowadzą do wniosku, że żadna z wymienionych dwóch interpretacji ciągów z niech nie jest wolna od wad, a w celu adekwatnego opisu analizowanych zjawisk językowych konieczne są dalsze wnikliwe badania.
The article concerns the grammatical interpretation of sequences created by combining the particle niech with the present or future tense forms of verbs, e.g. niech usiądę, niech usiądziemy, niech (Pan/i) usiądzie, niech (Państwo) usiądą. In the grammatical descriptions of the contemporary Polish language they are characterized either as the inflectional forms of the imperative mood of the verb or as syntactic constructions (and thereby are included into the verb paradigm or excluded from it). The author subjects to analysis the criteria used by the scholars advocating either of the interpretations and confronts them with various types of usage of the analysed sequences and with the usage of the imperative mood forms created in a synthetic manner. The discussion offered in this article leads to a conclusion that neither of the abovementioned two interpretations of the sequences containing niech is free from defects and in order to adequately describe the linguistic phenomena analysed here further detailed investigation is required.

Problemem badawczym, który znajduje się w centrum rozważań niniejszego artykułu, jest przyszłość wyborów do Parlamentu Europejskiego (PE) w świetle istniejących propozycji reform. Artykuł stanowi krytyczną refleksję nad stanem dyskusji wokół reform związanych z wyborami do PE. Na gruncie jakościowej analizy obecnego stanu organizacji wyborów do PE oraz proponowanych zmian, autor stawia tezę, że odgórne próby reformy wyborów skazane są na niepowodzenie, nie tylko z powodu instytucjonalnego oporu państw członkowskich oraz wewnątrz PE, ale również ze względu na istotę proponowanych zmian. Rozpoznane wyzwania w sferze proceduralnej, przedstawicielskiej i partycypacyjnej wymagają uwzględnienia stanu rozwoju procesu integracji. Jeśli rzeczywistym celem reform ma być wzrost demokratycznej legitymizacji procesu integracji, to należy wyjść poza ramy istniejących obecnie propozycji reform. Jednym z możliwych wariantów jest sięgnięcie po mandat imperatywny.
The main research problem of this article is the future of the elections to the European Parliament (EP) in the context of the ongoing debates and reform proposals. This article is critical reflection on the content of the discussions about EP elections reform. Based on qualitative analysis of the EP elections status quo and the reform proposals, the author claims that the top-down efforts for election reforms are doomed to fail not only due to the existing institutional resistance from the Member States and inside the EU, but also due to the essence of the proposed changes. The identified procedural, representative and participative challenges underline the necessity of the integration process analysis. Should the genuine aim of the reforms be the growth of democratic legitimisation of the integration process, there is a need to go behind the framework of the existing reform proposals. One of the possible solutions can be the imperative mandate.

The aim of the article is the imperative analysis of two Slavonic Gospels: the first complete printed edition of the Church Slavonic Bible – The Ostrog Bible (1581) and the18th century altar Gospel (1771) printed in Kiev Pechersk Lavra but kept in Orthodox monastery in Jabłeczna (south-east Poland). The comparison of these two texts on linguistic level permits to ascertain, that over two hundred years Church Slavonic imperative forms have changed. While The Ostrog Bible is settled in Cyrilo-Methodian writing tradition, the younger Jabłeczyńska Gospel presents modernization of imperative forms toward unification, reduction and avoiding homonymic conflict.

Celem niniejszej pracy było porównanie aplikacji internetowych tworzonych przy pomocy podejścia imperatywnego oraz reaktywnego w języku Java. Do tego celu stworzono dwie aplikacje z takimi samymi funkcjonalnościami używa-jąc obu podejść. Badanie dotyczyło wydajności, stabilności oraz czasochłonnościimplementacji każdej z aplikacji. Na podstawie uzyskanych wyników, stwierdzono, że aplikacja reaktywna szybciej przetwarza zapytania, w mniejszym stopniu obciąża procesor oraz jest stabilniejsza w przypadku obsługi wielu jednoczesnych żądań, gdzie czas przetwo-rzenia jest większy niż 10 sekund. W przypadku wykorzystania ilości pamięci RAM przez aplikacje nie zaobserwowa-no znaczących różnic. Ponadto badanie pokazało, że stworzenie aplikacji reaktywnej jest bardziej czasochłonne.
The subject of this study was to compare web applications created using the imperative and reactive approaches in Java. For this purpose, two applications with the same functionalities were developed using both approaches. The study looked at the performance, stability and time-consumption of implementation of each application. Based on the obtained results, it was found that the reactive application processes queries faster, uses less CPU, and is more stable in the case of handling many simultaneous requests, where the processing time is greater than 10 seconds. No significant differences were observed in using the computer's RAM by the applications. In addition, the study showed that reactive application takes more time to create.

Artykuł eksponuje praktykę pisarską Tadeusza Kantora – „artysty teatru”, który w swoich pismach – zarówno teoretycznych, jak i stricte artystycznych/literackich – przekraczał granice klasycznie rozumianej gatunkowości, zmierzając w stronę hybrydyzacji tekstu. Autorka podejmuje krytyczny dialog z trzytomową edycją „Pism” artysty, wskazując jednocześnie na ważność manuskryptu jako świadectwa dynamicznego procesu twórczego. Odwołując się do koncepcji kłącza Gil-les’a Deleuze’a i Félixa Guattariego, autorka akcentuje problem kł?czowato?ci zapisk?w artysty oraz konfrontuje jego teksty z?t? figur?-modelem (ączowatości zapisków artysty oraz konfrontuje jego teksty z tą figurą-modelem (rhizome), wskazując na nieprzystawalność ponowoczesnego myślenia o podmiocie względem praktyki pisarskiej Kantora. Natomiast sięgając do koncepcji poezji Brunona Schulza i zestawiając ją z refleksjami Kantora na temat języka i mitu, autorka próbuje odnaleźć klucz do językowej koncepcji pisarstwa artysty, nieustannie poszukującego własnego idiomu oraz toczącego swoistą walkę ze słowem.
The article discusses Kantor’s writing practice of crossing borders between styles and genres, which in effect produced thoroughly hybrid literary or theoretical texts. The article focuses in particular on the analysis of Kantor’s manuscripts which give evidence of a dynamically changing and evolving nature of the text production. The theories of Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari are used by the author to prove that the postmodern philosophy and analysis do not capture the specific idiom of Kantor’s writing. Comparing Bruno Schulz with Kantor’s concept of literature, the author shows his specific way of forging a very personal idiom of writing and of literary expression.

Opis:
The paper discusses the nature and the specificacy of the Polish deputy’s mandate as viewed in the light of the Polish Four-Year Seym’s legislation, and above all in the light of the statute on "Sejmiks" and also in the light of Constitution of 3 May 1791. The paper tries to answer whether – on the basis of the aforementioned provisions – the discussed mandate was open or imperative. In order to arrive at the correct answer the author outlines the scope of the analyzed problem. Thus he studies the relationship between the deputies and their electorate, the circles of the former and the latter, the methods applied for the election of deputies and the question of the possible instruction imposed on the deputies and the binding force of the instruction. He also discusses the reporting to which the deputies were obligated upon returning from the session. In the area of these questions the author tries to confront the regulations contained in the statute on the Sejmiks and those provided by the Constitution of 3 May. On the basis of the analysis made by him the author arrives at the conclusion that – in the light of the Four-Year Seym legisilation – the mandate was open. This meant that the concept of imperative mandate was rejected. The paper tries to sum up what previously was established in the research on the problem. In addition the author explores the extent to which the idea of legal accountability of deputies to their electorate might have affected the nature of the deputy’s mandate.
