Infographics has become one the most popular forms used in contemporary communication. It is employed both in traditional media as well as electronic ones in order to present relations between various phenomena or explain particular mechanisms of action in a picturesque way. Infographics is a hybrid form which reaches out for disparate visual elements: linguistic, pictorial and diagram ones, and combines them in a nonlinear way. In media communication infographics occur both as an independent message, or as e.g. an element accompanying a press article and complementing it. The purpose of the article is to demonstrate that infographics as a visual plane can serve the economization and rationalisation of media communication.

The advertising in words, images and sound not only focuses on conveying relevant information about products, but also on stimulating the corresponding emotions at the recipient. The boredom with traditional forms of advertising, negative attitudes towards advertising and often superficial reception of advertising messages make the use of emotional persuasion necessary. The article focuses on the types and interaction of emotions in culinary commercials from three periods: 50s, 80s and the present. It is assumed that different living and communication conditions a few decades ago and today have a significant influence on the appearance and interaction of emotions in the advertising text.

Der vorliegende Beitrag konzentriert sich auf die Frage, wie das Phänomen Terrorismus in Form schrecklicher Bilder vermittelt wird und welche Motive und Aspekte thematisiert werden. Das Korpus besteht aus multimodalen Kommunikationen, die mittels einer Internetsuche mit Hilfe der Suchmaschine Google ermittelt wurden. Unter multimodaler Kommunikation versteht man Kombinationen aus geschriebenen Texten und zweidimensionalen statischen Bildern, die zusammen mit anderen relevanten (Sub)Modalitäten wie Typografie und Farbe den Empfang bestimmen. In der Analyse wird folgenden Fragen nachgegangen: Was wird gezeigt? Wie wird es gezeigt? Welche Funktionen haben Text und Bild sowie die multimodale Kommunikation insgesamt?
The present paper focuses on the question of how the phenomenon of terrorism is conveyed in the form of terrifying images and which motives and aspects are thematised. The corpus is composed of multimodal communications, which were determined by means of an internet search with the help of the search engine Google. Multimodal communications are understood to be combinations of written texts and twodimensional static images that, together with other relevant (sub)modalities such as typography and colour, determine the reception. The analysis will explore the following questions: What will be shown? How is it shown? What functions do the text and image as well as the multimodal communication as a whole have? Multimodal Transport Systems ensure flexibility by enabling transport users to select the most appropriate transport mode within the speed pyramide. The real advantage of multimodality appears in situations of unattended disturbances (machine failure, onset of winter, floodwater, strike or risk of penalty for late deliveries). No single transport mode can pretend to have the optimal solution for all types of transport tasks. And no transport object can bear transport costs to an unlimited height. The Annex deals with a widespread misunderstanding: the interchangeable use of the terms 'transport needs' and 'transport demand'.

Whereas acute pain acts as a warning sign, neuropathic pain loses this protective attribute and develops a self–sustaining chronic course. Almost 33 % of the general population report chronic pain and at least 3,3 % neuropathic pain, in Germany ≤ 5 million people. The prevalence is higher in women and increases with age. Neuropathic pain is defined as a direct consequence of a lesion or disease affecting the somatosensory system either at peripheral or central level. Spontaneously occurring dysesthesias, particularly burning pain and repetitive stimulus–triggered neuralgias such as classical trigeminal neuralgia are typical clinical features. Neuropathic pain is frequently found in patients with radiculopathy, nerve compression syndrome and polyneuropathy. The complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) is associated with abnormal sudomotor, vasomotor and trophic findings as well as psychosomatic symptoms. Frequent reasons for neuropathic pain of CNS origin are cerebral ischemia and traumatic injuries of the spinal cord with phantom pain. Clinical examination, including accurate sensory examination and Quantitative sensory testing (QST), is the basis of pain diagnosis and therapy. It is important to distinguish neuropathic pain from other chronic pain syndromes: Multimodal therapy differs from treatment of nociceptive pain (for example, in most cases of arthropathy), when the nervous system is intact. Drugs of choice are antidepressants and antiepileptics with analgesic properties.

Die multimodalen Texte in Form von Text-Bild-Kombinationen sind aus dem Alltag nicht mehr wegzudenken. Sie treten uns überall entgegen und die Zeitschriften, Plakate oder Internet-Einträge können als die besten Beispiele dafür dienen. Ihre Allgegenwärtigkeit, die allen voran aus der rasanten Entwicklung sowie Verbreitung der Neuen Medien resultiert, trägt dazu bei, dass man sie ebenfalls im Falle des Fremdsprachenunterrichts nicht mehr übersehen kann. Ihr riesiges didaktisches Potenzial, das aus der semiotischen Arbeitsteilung von Sprache-Bild-Verknüpfungen folgt, kann nicht nur neue Möglichkeiten zur Förderung unterschiedlicher sprach- und nicht-sprachbezogener Kompetenzen von Fremdsprachenlernenden schaffen, sondern auch die Effektivität des Fremdsprachenlehr- und Lernprozesses erhöhen. Voraussetzung ist jedoch, dass die Lernenden solche Text-Bild-Kombinationen angemessen analysieren und begreifen können. Das Hauptziel des Beitrages besteht darin, einen Überblick über die Formen und Funktionen unterschiedlicher Text-Bild-Kombinationen im DaF-Unterricht zu verschaffen sowie die Annahmen der sich neu entwickelnden logovisuellen Didaktik, die zur Konfrontation mit Text-Bild-Kombinationen die Entwicklung der sog. Sehlesekompetenz annimmt, näherzubringen.
The multimodal texts in the form of text-image combinations have become an integral part of everyday life. We can notice them at every turn, and the best examples of it are the magazines, posters or the internet. Their omnipresence, which is primarily the result of the rapid development and spread of the new media, contributes to the fact that they can no longer be overlooked in the case of foreign language lessons either. Its huge didactic potential, which is the result of the semiotic division of labour of language-image connections, can not only create new opportunities to promote different language-related and non-language-related skills in foreign language learners but also increase the effectiveness of the process of teaching and learning foreign languages. The prerequisite, however, is that the learner can adequately analyze and understand them. The aim of this article is to make an overview of the forms and functions of different text-image combinations in the foreign language lesson and bring closer the assumptions of logovisual didactic, which assumes the development of special visual-reading literacy to confrontation with them.

The article offers a contribution to the interaction research in the foreign language teaching and learning. It starts with an overview of various research approaches to the foreign language teaching and learning, from the 60s to the present days. A multimodal analysis of an excerpt of videorecorded classroom interaction is then provided. The analysis is focused on several aspects of classroom participation and teaching sequences. Some implications of the present research for teachers' training are finally provided.

The article examines the emotive influence of visual elements on the reception of German and Danish grave inscriptions. The material basis of analysis are photos of tombstones from the 19th and 20th century from cemeteries in Saxony and Copenhagen. The methodological basis is the theory of multimodal text and the starting point of the analysis is the typology of image-text relationships, which is supplemented by further observations. The study analyzes representatives of different semantic classes of visual components from different time periods. Among the most expressive and impressive sculptural representations are those with references to eschatology and the person of the deceased. In their use, two distinct strategies can be noted: the strengthening of mourning mood and the repression of the picture of death.
