Opis:
The paper describes stages of development of the Semantic Web, classifies them, and describes proposed methods of utilizing the Internet in the future. It delves into issues pertaining the Web-based technology, and the mechanisms which, perfected and popularized, will lead to creation of Web 4.0. The observed rapid increase in the amount of data available on the Internet leads to difficulties in fast selection of content relevant to the user. The nature of the human language causes considerable obstacles for machine pattern recognition of information contained within the given content. This results in slow and inefficient extraction of valuable data. The basis for proper machine recognition of patterns contained on the Internet is the process of creating ontologies. The paper describes the most important features of ontologies and methods of describing information in such a way that its structure is clear to agents and multi-agent systems. The authors also present the issues of improving the quality of human life by proper management of information on the Internet. As its basis the paper uses a case study of ontology of City Hall of Częstochowa.

Opis:
Web 5.0 performance appears limited only if seen through the prism of technological development. It presents the web as a human-controlled tool, which uses algorithms to attempt to personalize, search, and improve user experience, and to act for or on behalf of a person. Meanwhile, in the Web 6.0 era, the world will be quite unlike what we know today. For instance, it may turn out that Web 6.0 will mean the migration of human consciousness to cyberspace or to an unspecified “cloud” (of data, perhaps?). Will online maps even be needed in such a world? The Web, seen in its current way, is “anchored in metabolism”. Web 6.0 endeavours to face up to that. Namely, Web 6.0 aspires to be an independent entity that functions in the Internet ecosystem, depending on the presence of electro-impulses, but without the necessity of “anchoring” on a durable data carrier. This development path could be indicated by the use of artificial intelligence, data analytics and (genetic) algorithms in Web 4.0. At the same time, it is difficult to say whether Web 6.0 will end up as one synthetic, self-conscious organism or a collective of “other identities”, i.e. the personalities of individual devices integrated in the network.

Opis:
This study presents an attempt to design geographical visualisation tools that allow to tackle the immensity of spatial data provided by Volunteered Geographic Information (VGI), both in terms of temporal and spatial aspects. In accordance with the assumptions made at the conceptual stage, the final action was the implementation of the window entitled ‘Geovisualisation of the Panoramio.com Activities in District of Poznan 2011’ into the web browser. The concept has been based on a division of the geovisualisation window into three panels, of which the most important - in order to capture spatial variability - have statistical maps at the general level (dot map and choropleth map), while at the detailed level - a dot map on a topographic reference map or tourist map. For two ranges, temporal variability is presented by graphs, while a review of attributes of individual activities of the social website in question is set forward in the table panel. The element that visually interlinks all of the panels is the emphasised individual activity.
Problemem podjętym w tych badaniach stało się wykorzystanie metod z nurtu geograficznej wizualizacji do wskazania cech fenomenu VGI w zakresie zmienności czasowo-przestrzennej.

A dynamic progress in development of ICT technologies based on B2B, as well as their application in order to improve business processes carried out between enterprises and their business partners, have gained much importance during recent years. It was influenced by such factors as developing and tightening national and international cooperation, high competitiveness, time pressure and striving for improvement of customer and business partners service quality. While the reference books provide many titles referring to the effectiveness of processes, it turns out that there is not enough research on the volume of this effectiveness on the economic, operational and organizational level, measured after having applied B2B system. Taking into consideration the above reasons, the paper provides an analysis and an assessment of the level of enterprise’s business processes effectiveness, resulting from application of integration platform based on B2B model and created using selected ICT technology of Electronic Data Interchange type.

Opis:
The article tries to describe two key points of the Internet’s history in the context of the notion of environment: the emergence of the World Wide Web and the dotcom bubble. The first was the effect of Tim Berners-Lee’s invention but also the source of rapid growth in the commercial sector on the Internet, which can be proved by the number of enterprises registered in the web. The change also expressed itself as a massive, ubiquitous participation of people, which has been constituted by the numerous communities of retail clients. The second key point was the Nasdaq stock market crash, when many companies from the ICT sector lost their assets or even failed. It was also the beginning of a new phase of the Internet and a fundamental change in its functioning. User changed its character to the participant and co-worker – an active element. The effects of this change can be observed as a fundamental change of nature of most web processes. Thanks to this analysis one can see the convergent and complicated nature of the Internet, based mostly on two forces coming first from the technology and then inevitably from the economy.

Opis:
The search and recruitment of young ITspecialists, even students, can be improved by using information technology that would provide relevant information on the level of candidates' skills. Creating such technology that contains electronic portfolios of student achievement validated by their teachers is an actual need not only for employers. Students are also interested in using such a portfolio to present their professional achievements, as well as to get information about current needs of the technology market. Teachers of educational institutions can use such information technology to maintain competition and motivate students. Such technology should enable quick search and display of information on students' professional skills. While desining such technology, we should take into account needs of all kinds of users, i.e. IT-students, teachers, and employers. Using such technology, students should be able to create a portfolio which describes their knowledge and skills, the task of teachers is to verify the accuracy of the information, and employers use this system to find the specialists they need. The implementation of such technology using the website provides ease of use and easy access from any device that has access to the Internet. Such technology should also enable adding new types of skills because the number of new technologies is steadily increasing. The information technology of students’ web-portfolio should provide an intellectual search to enable relevant results both for ITstudents and employers.

In the present world information and knowledge are important elements of the local course of every stage of the civil service. Information delivered to local community contributes to achieving a high local identity level. Development of information function in gminas is being extorted by permanent progress in the scope of the information and communication technologies (ICT). In local society, the most important way of holding information should be Internet. It is important because more and more households in rural area have opportunities to the access to the Internet. Local society can use websites erected by local governments to disseminate information about functioning and action picked up in administrative districts to local actors. Transparent websites are becoming a source of information as well as they let achieve the competitive edge above other gminas. An attempt of assessment of providing information by authorities and usefulness of this information from a socio-economic development point of view is the purpose of the paper. Building transparent and available websites for local society is the important task for local governments, because well-informed society participates in local life and in local undertaking picked up by authorities. This is important, especially in the rural gminas located in metropolitan areas which must achieve the competitive edge above other gminas. The paper shows that that the information constituting the indispensable element of social and economic processes becomes more and more universal and serves publicizing and nationalizing decision-making processes.

This research explores what constitutes an educational tool for students in the Sultanate of Oman, using a quantitative questionnaire with face-to-face semi-structured interviews. Students and teachers at Nizwa College of Technology and Salalah College of Technology participated in the study. Educational tools are widely used as part of instruction today, but they are still a relatively new aspect of education in this region. Accordingly, the findings of the study are relevant to educators in the Omani educational system, as well to educators of Arab learners in general. This study examines four specific educational tools, namely email, Facebook, instant messaging, and cell phones. The findings indicate that students and teachers agree on what is considered an educational tool but also lack information and knowledge of how to integrate them into their learning and teaching. This paper provides insight into the mindset of Omani/Arab learners and those educators responsible for integrating educational technology in the region.

Recent advances in data capture, data transmission and data storage technologies have resulted in a growing gap between more powerful database systems and users' ability to understand and effectively analyze the information collected. Many companies and organizations gather gigabytes or terabytes of business transactions, scientific data, web logs, satellite pictures, textreports, which are simply too large and too complex to support a decision making process. Traditional database and data warehouse querying models are not sufficient to extract trends, similarities and correlations hidden in very large databases. The value of the existing databases and data warehouses can be significantly enhanced with help of data mining. Data mining is a new research area which aims at nontrivial extraction of implicit, previously unknown and potentially useful information from large databases and data warehouses. Data mining, also referred to as database mining or knowledge discovery in databases, can help answer business questions that were too time consuming to resolve with traditional data processing techniques. The process of mining the data can be perceived as a new way of querying – with questions such  as ”which clients are likely to respond to our next promotional mailing, and why?”. The aim of this paper is to present an overall picture of the data mining field as well as presents briefly few data mining methods. Finally, we summarize the concepts presented in the paper and discuss some problems related with data mining technology.
