Opis:
A significant disadvantage of parts made of linear block polyurethanes under conditions of friction contact in the presence of an aqueous medium is the intensification of hydrolysis processes and decrease in volume strength. It was proposed to slow down the hydrolysis of polyurethanes in three ways: by directed changes in chemical structure, by electromagnetic radiation of different intensities and by creation of composite materials, based on the principle of additional intermolecular crosslinking at the manufacturing and hot processing stages. The conditions for the formation of a smooth wear-resistant surface that protects the material from rapid destruction are revealed.

In paper researching results of tribological proprieties Fe3Al intermetallic alloys after annealing are presented. Studies were conducted in the following environments: a water; an air and oil. For investigation purposes the tribotester pin-on-disk type with the contrsample made of steel 40H quenched and tempered was used. Tests were carried out with the following process parameters: pressure p = 2MPa and linear velocity (circuital) V = 0.46m/s. It was noted, that intermetallic samples with the small distinction in chemical compositions, annealed at different temperatures showed a large difference in the quantity of material loss in the all tested environments. Appropriately selected parameters of the intermetallic alloys annealing, provide their greater resistance to abrasion in the air and oil environments than in the case of steel.

Opis:
In transport and, particularly in the case of the present study, naval industries, one of the major objectives of research on wear and friction is focused principally on solid lubrication. In the following paper, the tribological behaviors of two well-known, different cast irons, lamellar grey iron (EN-GJL-250) and spheroidal graphite ductile iron (EN-GJS-400), are compared and the results are analyzed. For each material's family, the surfaces’ properties are characterized at different stages of the machining process. The particular influence of diverse feed rates in a turning facing is evaluated. Moreover, some tests of the laser cladding process, which contribute to the improvement of superficial properties, are carried out; therefore, the initial morphology before surface treatment is carefully characterized and evaluated in the context of subsequent adhesion qualification. The final goal of the study is to deliver feasible initial information concerning two similar cast irons that are traditionally used in the naval industry, which would be manufactured and employed in the future as dry lubricated bearings

Opis:
The study discussed in the paper consisted in testing the impact of surface layer parameters on wear intensity of friction pair components. The study was conducted having taken additional operational factors into consideration, namely the friction conditions (presence of lubricant) and the value of loads affecting the contact zone of the samples being tested. The study constituted laboratory tests of wear and were conducted by means of a T-01M type laboratory test stand used to experimentally analyse frictional cooperation of various materials used in structural components of motor vehicles. The friction pairs examined were previously operating in a pin-on-disk system under various conditions. The materials of the friction pairs tested at the stand were subjected to heat treatment and chemical processing in order to attain specific parameters of their surface layers. The studies conducted enabled determination of the abrasive wear values for the material samples tested having entailed the surface layer parameters and the factors related to operation of actual structural components used in automotive engineering. An additional advantage of the studies conducted was the possibility to establish actual coefficients of friction occurring in specific friction pairs. Establishing the actual values of friction coefficients for the materials of friction pairs under specific conditions and having taken the impact of the surface layer parameters into consideration enabled identification of the reasons for excessive surface wear. Hence a reference can be made between the stationary tests undertaken and actual components cooperating with one another in kinematic pairs of machines. The utilitarian premise resulting from the studies conducted is the necessity of paying particular attention to surface layer parameters while designing friction pairs for machines.

The paper presents an analysis of the surface layer of Fe-Mn-C-B-Si-Ni-Cr alloy coating after friction with C45 steel. The coatings were obtained by arc welding (GMA). Flux-cored wires were used as a welding material. The flux-cored wires had a diameter of 2.4 mm. The tribological assessment was performed with the Amsler tribotester under dry friction conditions at unit pressures 10 MPa. The use of XPS spectroscopy allowed deep profile analysis of the surface layer. Based on the obtained results developed model of the surface layer for friction couple, hardfaced coating obtained from Fe-Mn-C-B-Si-Ni-Cr alloy – C45 steel. It was observed that the operational surface layer (OSL) of hardfaced coatings contained oxides (B2O3, SiO2, NiO, Cr2O3, FeO, Fe3O4, Fe2O3), carbides (Fe3C, Cr7C3) and borides (FeB, Fe2B).

Opis:
The aim of the present work is to determine the influence of technologically produced boron surface layers on the friction parameters in the sliding pairs under the conditions of mixed friction. The tribological evaluation included ion nitrided, pack borided, laser borided, quenched and tempered surface layers and TiB2 coating deposited on 38CrAlMo5-10, 46Cr2 and 30MnB4 steels. Modified surface layers of annular samples were matched under test conditions with counter-sample made from AlSn20 bearing alloy. Tested sliding pairs were lubricated 15 W/40 Lotos mineral engine oil. The tribological tests were conducted on a T-05 block on ring tester. The applied steel surface layer modification with boron allow creating surface layers with pre-determined tribological characteristics reąuired for the elements of kinematic pairs operating in the conditions of sliding friction. Pack boronizing reduces the friction coefficient during the start-up of the frictional pair and the maximum start-up resistance level is similar to the levels of pairs with nitrided surface layers. Paper present comparison between surface roughness of annular sample and countersample before and after test, influence of surface treatment annular sample on change of friction coefficient vs. rotation speed and load, influence of surface treatment annular sample on moment of friction in function load of kinematics pair, influence of surface treatment annular sample on friction forces and temperature depending on load, as well as influence of surface treatment annular sample on wear of AlSn20 bearing alloy under various load conditions.

This work presents the results of tribological stand tests of slide bearings with pins modified with CrN and TiN coatings and pins with a TiN-steel 46Cr2 and CrN-steel 46Cr2 ,,ring" structure. The ,,rin" structure samples features materials with different tribological properties in the form of rings on the pin slide surface. Such a structure is obtained when covering the 46Cr2 steel pin base with a discrete layer of TiN or CrN, using the PVD method. The stand tests of frictional couplings have been performed for the frictional kinematic coupling pin with modified surface layer and CuPb30 and AlSn20 alloy bearing liner slice. During the tests the tribological couplings were lubricated with Castrol magnatec engine oil (5W/40). The tests were performed on a T-05 tribological tester. The test results demonstrated the tribological advantageous using the "ring" structure samples in the frictional couplings. The tests demonstrated that the friction forces and the bearing material quantity wear were the least for couplings with CrN steel, 46Cr2 and nitrogen hardening, and the largest for TiN pin couplings. Modification of the CrN pin surface layer has a beneficial impact on reducing frictional resistance, and temperature reduction in the friction area as well as reduction in bearing alloy wear.

Opis:
Rubbers are interesting materials and are extensively used in many mining industries for material transportation. Wear of rubber is a very complex phenomenon to understand. The present study aims to explain the influence of rock properties on wear of M and SR grade rubber used in top cover of conveyor belts. Extensive laboratory experiments were conducted under four combinations of normal load and sliding speed. The wear of both the rubber types were analyzed based on the rock properties like shear strength, abrasivity index and fractal dimension. A fully instrumented testing set up was used to study the wear of rubber samples under different operating conditions. In general, wear was higher for M grade rubber compared to SR grade rubber. Increase in shear strength of rocks depicts decreasing trend for the wear of M and SR grade rubber at lower load conditions. Moreover, a higher load combination displays no definite trend in both the rubbers. The strong correlation between the wear of rubber and frictional power for all rubber-rock combinations has given rise to the parameter A, which reflects the relative compatibility between the rubber and rock. Increase of Cerchar’s Abrasivity Index of rocks shows gradual enhancement in wear for M grade rubber in all the load and speed combinations whereas, it fails in SR grade rubber due to its higher strength. The wear of rubber tends to decrease marginally with the surface roughness of rocks at highest normal load and sliding speed in M grade rubber. However, the wear of M and SR grade rubber is influenced by the surface roughness of rocks.

AISI 316L steel was subjected to nitrocarburizing under glow discharge conditions, which was followed by DLC (diamond-like carbon) coatings deposition using the same device. The coatings were applied under conditions of direct current and pulsed glow discharge. In order to determine the influence of the produced nitrocarbon austenite layer and the type of discharge on the microstructure and mechanical properties of the coatings, the following features were analysed: surface roughness, coating thickness, structure, chemical composition, adhesion and resistance to frictional wear. For comparison purposes, DLC coatings were also deposited on steel without a nitrocarburised layer. The obtained results indicate a significant influence of the type of glow discharge on the roughness, hardness, nitrogen content and of the nitrocarburised layer on the resistance to wear by friction and adhesion of the produced coatings.

Using the information on the abrasive tool surface geometric structure, a methodology of evaluation of the level of changes of the tool during the machining process was developed. The developed method allowed for evaluation of the level of abrasive tools' wear, and subsequently formed foundations for assessment of the influence of the machining parameters on the durability of abrasive tools, evaluation of the influence of the parameters of the process of shaping the abrasive tools' active surfaces on their geometric characteristic and evaluation of the level of correlation between the monitored process parameters and the degree of the abrasive tools' wear.

It can be stated that over the last ten years in the European Union, the number of bone fractures caused by osteoarthritis has increased twofold. More than 100,000 hip or knee joints in total were implanted in Germany during one year. Within ten years, 5% of them have failed by aseptic loosening. The non-invasive determination of friction forces and control of their values during lubrication of cartilage cells on the superficial layer of human joint surfaces before implantation has a significant but not sufficient impact on the observation of the early abrasive wear of the cartilage joint and development of osteoporosis. From this fact was drawn the inspiration for the performed investigations related to the endoprosthesis surface parameters because knowledge of the roughness of prosthesis surfaces and friction forces and their control methods permits provision of a necessary standard deviation of the gap height and finally information about the implantation possibility. This article has been prepared based on the objective of European Project UE Grant IRSES,612593, 2013-2016 to represent the methodology and goal of the idea described in and make a wider discussion possible on this subject for further developments during the realization. This review paper focuses on the up-to-date machinability characteristics of milling processes such as cutting forces, surface roughness and tool wear and their impacts on the cutting mechanism. The methodology pur-sued in this paper is to analyze the previous research articles published between 2019–2022 classifying them into the subcategoriesthat usemill-ing operation as manufacturing strategy. As known, milling is one of the most used machining processes in industry and often applied for academic studiesforawide range of materials. Therefore, used sensor systems, main aim and the preferred methodology were summarized in the context of this paper. Seemingly, a great number of machinability papers have been published recently which focuses on the several types of engineering ma-terials and utilized various types of sensor system to improve the surface roughness and tool life. In addition, the investigation showed that optimi-zation approaches have been applied broadly to detect the best machining conditions. Also, it was observed that several modeling approaches such as finite element analysis is a good alternative to analyze the process.
