    The aim of the article Different faces of old age as perceived by the students of Polish studies is to present how old teachers perceive old age. The exemplification material consists of three texts: Winter tale. An essay on the old age of Ryszard Przybylski, “The Old Man’s Route”. An attempt at old age politics by Tadeusz Sławek and Lala Jacek Dehnel. Hermeneutical reading allowed for the creation of several images of autumn of life: a painful, marked by suffering attempts to overcome and suffering in a creative act; old age as a possibility of a deeper look at the spiritual dimension of human existence and old age reconciled with the laws of transiting the events immersed in the act of memorization.
    Celem artykułu Różne oblicza starości w refleksji studentów polonistyki jest przedstawienie sposobu postrzegania starości przez przyszłych nauczycieli. Materiał egzemplifikacyjny stanowią trzy teksty: Baśń zimowa. Esej o starości Ryszarda Przybylskiego, „Trakt starego człowieka”. Próba polityki starości Tadeusza Sławka oraz Lala Jacka Dehnela. Hermeneutyczne czytanie pozwoliło na stworzenie kilku obrazów jesieni życia: bolesnej, naznaczonej cierpieniem próby przezwyciężenia i cierpienia w akcie twórczym; starości jako możliwości pogłębionego spojrzenia na duchowy wymiar ludzkiej egzystencji oraz starości pogodzonej z prawami przemijania zanurzonej w akcie memoracji danych wydarzeń.

    This article investigates contemporary Hungarian women’s writing in the context of cosmopolitan feminism. The literary works explored are Noémi Szécsi’s The Finno-Ugrian Vampire, Noémi Kiss’s Trans and Virág Erdős’s Luminous Bodies: 100 Little Budapest, which I read as examples of a cosmopolitan feminist engagement with urban space. As opposed to the Kantian concept of cosmopolitanism, which has been critiqued for failing to take the experiences of particular social groups and geographical regions into account, cosmopolitan feminism focuses on the local and the embodied. The discussed texts thematise border crossing both on the level of form and content, while they engage with the mundane, affective aspects of everyday life in an emphatically urban setting. This cosmopolitan feminism challenges parochial, heavy, national literary traditions and points towards a distinct feministaesthetics in contemporary Hungarian literature.
    Artykuł bada współczesne węgierskie pisarstwo kobiece w kontekście kosmopolitycznego feminizmu. Analizie poddano trzy utwory: Finnugor vampire Noémi Szécsi, Trans Noémi Kiss oraz Világító testek: 100 kis Budapest Erdős Virág. Utwory te czytam jako przykłady zaangażowania kosmopolitycznego feminizmu w przestrzeń miejską. W przeciwieństwie do kantowskiej koncepcji kosmopolityzmu, krytykowanej za nieuwzględnianie doświadczeń poszczególnych grup społecznych i regionów geograficznych, kosmopolityczny feminizm koncentruje się na tym, co lokalne i ucieleśnione. Omawiane dzieła dotyczą przekraczania granic pod względem zarówno formy, jak i treści, a jednocześnie angażują się w powszednie, afektywne aspekty codziennego życia w przestrzeni miejskiej. Ów kosmopolityczny feminizm kwestionuje zaściankowe, ciężkie, narodowe tradycje literackie i wskazuje na wyraźną linię estetyki feministycznej we współczesnej literaturze węgierskiej.

    How exactly did Adam Zagajewski, the Cracovian exile from postwar Lvov, become the “Poet of 9/11”, as Newsweek hailed him on the tenth anniversary of the infamous terrorist attack? And why has the poem lingered on in the years that follow, comforting readers in the aftermath of all kinds of disasters, private and public, natural and manmade? This essay traces the history behind the poem’s debit in English translation on the final page of the New Yorker magazine’s first issue after the attack. It follows its subsequent afterlife as one of the best-known contemporary poems in the English language, as witnessed by its countless appearances in everything from anthologies to sermons, pop songs, and personal websites in the last eighteen years.

    While presenting a wide range of cultural, historical and political factors which have influen- ced the Polish and the American reception of Miron Białoszewski’s A Memoir of the Warsaw Uprising, this article tries to assess the role played in its reception abroad by the fact that the original text existed in several versions (censored and uncensored) and, on its way to print, got fitted out with multiple paratexts (introductions, prefaces and afterwords). Interestingly, there seems to be a connection between these fringe texts, the shaping of the translation as shown by choices made by the translators and editors, the evolving model of what is believed to be the right and proper handling of historical traumas, and the politics of remembrance in diverse historical settings and cultural imaginaries. An in-depth analysis of the details of translation and editorship opens up a series of broader questions about the status of a literary text functioning as evidence of traumatic historic events and the mechanisms of its reception by those directly affected (the family circle) and the people outside (with special attention being paid to the tension between the private and the public, and the normative versus the non-normative).

    The exploration of human sexuality at the end of the nineteenth century did not immediately stimulate the development of research in literary eroticism. Its development is associated not so much with the discoveries made by anthropologists as with the influence of the Nietzsche’s philosophy and Freud’s psychoanalysis. The theory of Dionysian culture with its concept of libido (which in times of the supremacy of high culture remains hidden in the language of literature) contributed to the first wave of erotic criticism. Decades later, its development was related to feminist criticism, followed by gender studies and homoerotic studies. What seems interesting in this context is the lack of reflection on the role of the audiovisual pornographic imagination in most contemporary literature. While porn studies is present in sociology, anthropology, and film studies, it is still absent from literary studies. The article presents the mutual influence of literature and pornographic cinema, showing the limitation of the traditional tools used in literary studies in the analysis of contemporary literary descriptions of sexual acts. It examines the reason for the lack of research on this topic, paying attention to the ethical and aesthetic consequences of changing this situation. Finally, it outlines the areas of interest that porn studies could help explore.

    Cyber-Mobbing (auch ‚Cyber-Gewalt‘ oder ‚Cyber-Bullying‘ genannt) ist eine Art psychischer Gewalt, die bei Benutzung des Internets und seiner Dienste, u. a. von E-Mail und sozialen Medien, ausgeübt wird. Es beruht auf Beschimpfung, Beleidigung und Erniedrigung des Opfers, der Verbreitung und Veröffentlichung von kompromittierenden Fotos, Videos und falschen Informationen im Netz. Die virtuelle Gewalt ist weitaus folgenreicher als das Mobbing im wirklichen Raum, weil ihre Reichweite unbegrenzt und der Täter anonym ist. Das sich verschärfende Problem der Cyber-Gewalt wird in stärkerem Maße in der Literatur, insbesondere in der Jugendliteratur, behandelt. Ziel des Artikels ist es, am Beispiel einiger ausgewählter deutscher Jugendromane die wichtigsten Aspekte dieses Phänomens, u. a. Motive und Folgen des Cyber-Mobbing, psychologische Porträts der Opfer und der Täter sowie den Einfluss der virtuellen Kommunikation auf die literarische Fiktion und Werkkonstruktion zu untersuchen.
    Cyberviolence (or cyber-harassment, cyber-bullying) is a type of mental violence executed with the use of the Internet, online tools and services such as e-mail or social media. Cyber-bullying can involve insults, words of abuse, humiliating the victim or sending and posting compromising photographs, films and false information on the Internet. Virtual violence is more acute than mobbing in real space and time since its scope is literally unlimited and the perpetrator remains anonymous. The increasing problem of cyberviolence is more and more often addressed in literature, especially literature for young adults. The aim of the paper is to identify and investigate, on the basis of an analysis of selected young-adult novels, the main aspects of this phenomenon, i. e. motives for and the effects of cyber-bullying, psychological characteristics of the victims and perpetrators as well as the impact of virtual reality on literary fiction and the structure of literary works.
    Cybermobbing (inaczej cyberprzemoc, cyberbullying) jest rodzajem przemocy psychicznej, stosowanej przy wykorzystaniu Internetu i jego narzędzi, m. in. poczty elektronicznej i mediów społecznościowych. Polega ona na obelgach, wyzwiskach, poniżaniu ofiary oraz na rozsyłaniu i publikowaniu w Internecie kompromitujących zdjęć, filmów i fałszywych informacji. Przemoc wirtualna jest bardziej dotkliwa niż mobbing w rzeczywistym czasie i przestrzeni, ponieważ jej zasięg jest nieograniczony, a sprawca anonimowy. Narastający problem cyberprzemocy podejmowany jest coraz częściej w literaturze, zwłaszcza młodzieżowej. Celem artykułu jest omówienie na przykładzie wybranych niemieckich powieści dla młodzieży głównych aspektów tego zjawiska, m. in. motywów i skutków cybermobbingu, psychologicznych portretów sprawców i ofiar oraz wpływu świata wirtualnego na fikcję literacką i konstrukcję utworów.

    The aim of this article is to outline the history of the scientific journal Gospodarka Narodowa, which from 1946 to 1989 operated under the name Gospodarka Planowa. The study pays particular attention to the subject matter of the articles published in the journal, the organisation of editorial work and the people associated with the journal. For this purpose, sources and existing studies were consulted, and an analysis was conducted of the citations of the papers published in the journal. When possible, the frequency of the use of selected JEL classification codes in the papers was also analysed. The article not only offers the first in-depth description of the nine decades of Gospodarka Narodowa, but also makes an original contribution to the discipline by indicating the most frequently cited articles published in the journal. It finds that the main areas of interest for Gospodarka Narodowa authors over the past decade have been issues related to macroeconomics, including monetary economics, international economics, financial economics, and economic growth. Another finding is that many authors have shown a preference for a clearly quantitative approach to the study of these problems. The article concludes by stating that Gospodarka Narodowa underwent a long evolution before it eventually became a strictly scientific journal, a focus that it has preserved to this day.
    Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie historii czasopisma naukowego Gospodarka Narodowa (w latach 1946–1989 funkcjonującego pod nazwą Gospodarka Planowa), ze szczególnym naciskiem na zagadnienia, którym poświęcone były publikowane w nim artykuły, organizację pracy redakcji oraz osoby związane z periodykiem. W tym celu skorzystano zarówno ze źródeł, jak i istniejących opracowań, a także przeprowadzono analizę cytowań prac publikowanych w czasopiśmie oraz – gdy było to możliwe – częstości wykorzystywania w nich poszczególnych kodów klasyfikacji JEL. Poza przedstawieniem pierwszego syntetycznego ujęcia dziewięciu dekad funkcjonowania Gospodarki Narodowej/Gospodarki Planowej, artykuł wnosi do dyscypliny oryginalny wkład w postaci wskazania najczęściej cytowanych artykułów opublikowanych w czasopiśmie. Ustalono, że najważniejszymi obszarami zainteresowań autorów Gospodarki Narodowej w ostatnich dziesięciu latach są zagadnienia dotyczące makroekonomii, w tym ekonomii monetarnej, ekonomii międzynarodowej, ekonomii finansowej i wzrostu gospodarczego, a wielu z nich preferuje jednoznacznie ilościowe podejście do badania tych problemów. Artykuł kończy konkluzja, że chociaż Gospodarka Narodowa przeszła długą ewolucję, ostatecznie stała się pismem stricte naukowym, który to charakter zachowuje do dziś.

    Considering the imagological conceptions of the Other by Daniel-Henri Pageau and Gordana Đerić, this text analyses the role of literature in the deconstruction of stereotypes that circulate in communication between Balkan neighbours. In the focus of our interpretation are three novels of contemporary Macedonian literature (Luan Starova’s Balkanvavilonci, Dragi Mihajlovski’s Mojot Skenderbej and Blazhe Minevski’s Nishan), which are paradigmatic in two ways: 1. they refer to historical events and figures, thus confirming that history is the basic mechanism for the argumentation of stereotypical images; 2. they depict processes of destereotyping both thematically and structurally, but also by their appearance in a particular sociohistorical context, with the aim of promoting supranational, universal, human, civilizational, and cultural values such as love, empathy, forgiveness, dialogue, tolerance, education, love of books, optimism, humaneness, all of which are usually treated as originally European values. Literature, by articulating the processes of destereotyping through the narrative strategies in the works, confirms that it holds the potential to act correctively on systems where different forms of power are based on discrimination and submission.  
    Przedmiotem tekstu jest analiza roli literatury w dekonstrukcji stereotypów krążących w komunikacji między bałkańskimi sąsiadami z perspektywy imagologicznych koncepcji Innego autorstwa Daniela-Henri Pageau i Gordany Đerić. W centrum uwagi znajdują się trzy powieści zaliczane do współczesnej literatury macedońskiej (Balkanvavilonci Luany Starovy, Mojot Skenderbej Dragiego Mihajlovskiego, Nishan Blaže Minevskiego). Są one paradygmatyczne z dwóch względów: 1. odwołują się do wydarzeń i postaci historycznych, czym potwierdzają, że historia jest podstawowym mechanizmem argumentacji obrazów o charakterze stereotypowym; 2. ujawniają procesy destereotypizacji zarówno pod względem tematycznym, jak i strukturalnym, a też przez zaktualizowanie określonego kontekstu społeczno-historycznego, co służy promowaniu wartości ponadnarodowych, uniwersalnych, ludzkich, cywilizacyjnych i kulturowych, takich jak miłość, empatia, przebaczenie, dialog, tolerancja, edukacja, miłość do książek, optymizm, humanitaryzm, traktowanych jako wartości fundamentalnie europejskie. Potwierdza to, że artykułując procesy desterotypizacji przez strategie narracyjne, literatura ma potencjał do działania korygującego w systemach, w których różne formy władzy oparte są na dyskryminacji i uległości.
