Opis:
Every year, a large amount of mineral processing wastewater is discharged from various industries into the environment which is considered a challenging task not only because of its large volume, but more importantly, its hazardous components, while its reuse as feedwater without proper treatments causes great harm to the final product of these industries. Cost-effective methods are required to treat a wide range of industrial wastewater in a diverse range of conditions. In this study, a combined hydrocyclone-electrocoagulation system is tried to treat the wastewater for industries with high water consumption and high pollutants such as paper industry, iron and metal forming industry, and marble industry. The effects of the hydrocyclone operational parameters, such as feed inlet pressure and diameter, vortex finder diameter, apex diameter, and feed solids content, were investigated. In the case, wastewater of paper industry, the following optimum conditions $(P = 4.5$ bar, $D_o = 15.8 mm, D_u = 6 mm, D_i = 4 mm and c_s = 2.3%)$ were achieved. An overflow of about 90.58% water recovery and 21.45% solid at 75.92% separation efficiency was obtained. The results showed that the hydrocycloneelectrocoagulation treatment has efficiently treated the three different types of industrial wastewater. The chemical oxygen demand (COD), biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), total solid (TS), total suspended solids (TSS), colour and turbidity, were reduced sharply and met the effluent discharge or reuse standards. Also, compared with the hydrocyclone-treated wastewater, the hydrocyloneelectrocoagulation-treated wastewater was found to be more enhanced.

Opis:
The Armenian textile and apparel industry has showed very sharp ups and downs throughout its history. During the Soviet era, it was a leading branch of Armenian industry and a major supplier for the whole Soviet Union. Since the early 90s, the situation has dramatically changed. Analysis showed that during the transition from centrally planned to a market- -based economy, Armenia’s textile and apparel industry was nearly destroyed. Nowadays the industry, especially the apparel industry, is regarded as one of most promising sectors of the Armenian economy. This potential has also been discovered by Western and Russian institutions and enterprises, which have begun to invest heavily in this sector.

The paper presents results from social research on the Polish business representatives potentially interested in using the floating buildings. The main purposes of the study were to assess the level of knowledge about floating buildings and diagnose stimulants and inhibitors of their development in the hotel, catering, and water tourism industry. Combining the quantitative and the qualitative methodology, research was conducted using an on-line survey (CAWI) and Focused Group Interviews (FGI). Both involved a non-probabilistic, purposive sampling to reach a specific subgroup of the industry: owners or employees of catering, hotel or water tourism companies having or considering having a floating building. The group included both new and long-standing companies using facilities on water or with direct and indirect access to the water. The study identified stimulating and inhibitory factors broken down into internal (context-independent) and external (context-dependent) conditions. Results show that in Poland floating commercial buildings are a niche topic but also a developable one. Although 71% of the respondents notice difficulties resulting from the insufficient infrastructure and 66.5% of them indicate the lack of legal regulations, they also see the potential of floating buildings: depending on the industry, from 90 to 95% respondents find them “definitely attractive” or “rather attractive”. The most common reason for rejecting floating development is the lack of attractive moorages in the area (43.5% answers).

It is commonly believed that the current economic state of many countries is at the stage of the fourth industrial revolution. The changes resulting from this revolution are affecting all sectors of the economy, including the printing sector. The aim of this article is to analyse the state of the art technology in sheetfed printing and then to identify the challenges for further changes in the technology of this type of printing as well as technological and organisational changes in the processes of preparation and realisation of printing products. The article uses case studies of selected technologies offered by key technology suppliers in this area and case studies of selected business entities – manufacturers of printing products. The research approach adopted in this article also takes conceptual work into account. It was found that the observed changes in the printing industry are consistent with the assumptions of the Industry 4.0 concept in the aspect of the digitisation and mass personalisation of products, which leads to the thesis that in the future personalised digital printing ordered through self-service will play a dominant role.

Opis:
The situation of the Polish oil industry after independence was difficult. Cut off from pre-war markets, the weakness of the internal market and increasing competition in external markets resulted in low profitability and a successive decline in production volumes. Competition also became a new threat from the state-backed distillery industry, which was pushing the concept of marketing fuel blends containing spirits. Their entry into the market, despite the objections of oil companies, meant that some gasoline had to be replaced with spirits and their ability to sell on the domestic market was limited. The negative effects of this were consistently raised by oil industry representatives. It wasn't until an improvement in the economy in the second half of the 1930s that a gradual change in the perception of spirit propelled blends appeared. Under conditions of growing domestic demand with relatively constant production volumes, a significant reduction in fuel exports became possible, and spirits were able to become a desirable additive to diesel blends, as evidenced by the increase in their purchases by oil companies.

The relatively limited application of lean in the food process industries has been attributed to the unique characteristics of the food sector i.e. short shelf-life, heterogeneous raw materials, and seasonality. Moreover, barriers such as large and inflexible machinery, long setup time, and resource complexity, has limited the implementation and impact of lean practices in process industries in general. Contrary to the expectations in the literature, we bring in this paper a successful experience of lean implementation in a company of the food-processing sector. By focusing on two lean tools (VSM and SMED), the company reduced changeover time by 34%, and increased the production capacity of the main production line by 11%. This improvement enabled the company to avoid the use of temporary workers by extending the worktime of its workforce during peak months. Moreover, the reduction of setup time avoided the use of large lot size in production, which, in turn, reduced the total cycle time of production and the incidence of quality problems.

Thailand hosts over 50 percent of the world’s top OEM automotive parts suppliers and additionally is home to over 2,400 Tier 1-3 manufacturers and suppliers. Given the significance of these numbers and Thailand’s leading ranking and contribution to the global automotive industry, research was undertaken to determine how manufacturing clusters and innovation capability effect competitive advantage as it relates to automotive production part management. Multiple objectives were established which included the study of the effects and overall influences of the various variables on competitive advantage as well as the development of a structural equation model (SEM) to define how innovation and manufacturing clustering affects the competitive advantage within the Thai automotive parts molding sector. Quantitative methods analysis was conducted on the data from 240 automotive production and components suppliers’ questionnaires collected from industry managers with the research results partially obtained from the analysis by use of (PLS)-graph. Qualitative research was also obtained by use of purposive sampling from in-depth interviews from ten senior managers. The results obtained indicated that clusters and innovation capability has a significant and positive effect on competitive advantage. Thus, the findings from the research illustrate that if an organization focuses on clusters, there will be a knock-on effect within the automotive parts groups leading to the increase in innovation capability, which creates a greater competitive advantage, not only for the enterprises, but also for Thai society as well.

The food and beverage production in Bulgaria has dramatically changed after the full EU membership in 2007. This change has affected not just the production structure, but also the import and export structure as well as overall production potential of the agri-food sector. The aim of the paper is to look inside the changes from the perspective of the single producer. This means to answer to the question: why has the Bulgarian agri-food production been getting worse? The analyses showed that food industry does not have the ability to move over the 1980s values. Partially this state is a result of misunderstanding by food processors how to manage their production more efficiently. The greatest potential for dynamic change of Bulgarian food industry is in the innovation inputs (development of new products and technologies improvement overall marketing). For food sector the major role, among all types of innovations, is played by product innovations.
