Opis:
In this paper, the analysis of sudden water phase change during high-temperature metal body dipping is presented. According to that purpose, the computational fluid dynamic analysis has been carried out. The nonstationarity and behavior of sudden water phase change has been examined. The calculation model consists of the solid domain (vessel and high-temperature metal) and fluid domain (liquid filling vessel). The metal body insertion to the fluid domain was obtained by the use of dynamic mesh. Special case of the dipping velocity, the metal body of temperature 723 K and fluid temperature 288 K. was examined. Moving on to calculations, the model containing basic conservation equation, expanded of turbulence and liquid evaporation equations has been used.

The structural and elastic properties of NbN₂ at high pressures were investigated through the first-principles calculation. Results indicate that NbN₂ is a potential hard material. NbN₂ meets mechanical stability criteria and possesses ductility within the pressure of 100 GPa. The elastic anisotropy under high pressure was achieved by the elastic anisotropy factors, which reduce with increasing pressure. Using the quasi-harmonic Debye model, we also investigated the thermodynamic properties of NbN₂.

In this paper, properties, advantages, and limitations of SiC and conventional Si materials are compared. Various applications, where SiC power devices are attractive, are discussed.

Opis:
High-temperature sorption of corrosion products from primary cooling circuit is an effective method for radiation reduction in pressurize and boiling reactor plants. We have developed a suitable high temperature resistant adsorbent by impregnating a porous stainless steel membrane with titanium oxide. The adsorption studies of corrosion products in soluble and insoluble forms indicate that the stainless steel membrane impregnated with TiO2 combines high affinity of TiO2 for transition metal cations with a high mechanical stability of the porous steel membrane under high-temperature and highpressure conditions.

The paper reviews the problems related to BOX high-temperature instability in SOI structures and MOSFETs. The methods of bias-temperature research applied to SOI structures and SOI MOSFETs are analysed and the results of combined electrical studies of ZMR, and SIMOX SOI structures are presented. The studies are focused mainly on electrical discharging processes in the BOX at high temperature and its link with new instability phenomena such as high-temperature kink effects in SOI MOSFETs.

In this study, high performance magnesium-yttria nanocomposite’s room temperature, strength and ductility were significantly enhanced by the dispersion of nano-sized nickel particles using powder blending and a microwave sintering process. The strengthening effect of the dispersed nano-sized nickel particles was consistent up to 100°C and then it gradually diminished with further increases in the test temperature. The ductility of the magnesium-yttria nanocomposite remained unaffected by the dispersed nano-sized nickel particles up to 100°C. Impressively, it was enhanced at 150°C and above, leading to the possibility of the near net shape fabrication of the nanocomposite at a significantly low temperature.

In order to improve the high-temperature oxidation stability, a study of 434L sintered stainless steel was focused on the effect of addition of metallic oxides to form stable oxide film on the inner particle surface. In this paper, oxidation behavior of 434L compacted parts in accordance with the addition of metallic oxides were discussed with high temperature oxidative reaction, and sintering behavior analysis under 950°C. Oxidation weight gains of 434 L have increased as a form of parabolic laws. The hightemperature oxidation resistance was improved by the mixed addition of amorphous SiO2 and silica up to 2wt.%. The oxidation rate was decreased and kept constant after 60 hours. It was caused by the restraint succeeding oxidation due to the stable oxide formation of Cr2SiO4 phases on the particle surface to prevent densification and inhibition the external diffusion of Cr. High-temperature stability was confirmed by the electrical resistivity maintains the constant value of 1.3×10-2 Ω ·cm when the silica added less than 2w/o to 1w/o A-SiO2 added 434L.

Austenitic AISI 304, 316L and ferritic 430 stainless steels were implanted with yttrium to fluences ranging between 1 x 1015 and 5 x 1017 ions/cm2. The samples were subjected to oxidation in air at a temperature of 1000 centigrade for a period of 100 h and next examined by stereoscopic optical microscopy (OM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectrometry (EDX) and Rutherford back scattering spectrometry (RBS). The results obtained with the use of ion implantation are discussed.

To study the anti-seismic performance of steel structure under high temperature, the finite element analysis software ABAQUS was used to study the seismic performance of Q235 steel welded box section column at service stage under normal temperature and high temperature fire. The effects of welding residual stress, slenderness ratio, width thickness ratio and axial load level on the hysteretic behavior of columns were analyzed and the stable bearing capacity and hysteretic performance of the column under high temperature were investigated. The results show that the maximum bearing capacity of the column decreases with the increase of the residual stress peak value. With the increase of temperature, a decrease in the maximum bearing capacity of columns under constant axial force and horizontal cyclic load and an increase in the ductility occur.

This study investigated the high temperature oxidation property of SiC coated layer fabricated by aerosol deposition process. SiC coated layer could be successfully manufactured by using pure SiC powders and aerosol deposition on the Zr based alloy in an optimal process condition. The thickness of manufactured SiC coated layer was measured about 5 μm, and coating layer represented high density structure. SiC coated layer consisted of α-SiC and β-SiC phases, the same as the initial powder. The initial powder was shown to have been crushed to the extent and was deposited in the form of extremely fine particles. To examine the high temperature oxidation properties, oxidized weight gain was obtained for one hour at 1000°C by using TGA. The SiC coated layer showed superior oxidation resistance property than that of Zr alloy (substrate). The high temperature oxidation mechanism of SiC coated layer on Zr alloy was suggested. And then, the application of aerosol deposited SiC coated layer was also discussed.

In this investigation the surface of an aluminized sample of plain carbon steel was melted and alloyed using a tingsten inert gas (TIG) welding process to produce iron-aluminide intermetallic phases on the surface. The produced coating was then characterized by SEM and EDS and its high-temperature properties in O2 + 1%SO2 gas were examined. The results showed that the Fe3 Al coating produced could protect the substrate as it was subjected to the corroding gases at 700°C due to the formation of an alumina layer between the substrate and an outer layer of Fe2 O3 . At 900°C, the coating could only protect the substrate for 64 h. The lack of further protection at this temperature is attributed to the decrease in the protective properties of alumina with an increase in its temperature and the lack of presence of enough Al atoms in the coating for the repair of the defects formed in the alumina layer.

This paper presents a numerical modeling method for AC losses in highly dynamic linear actuators with high temperature superconducting (HTS) tapes. The AC losses and generated force of two actuators, with different placement of the cryostats, are compared. In these actuators, the main loss component in the superconducting tapes are hysteresis losses, which result from both the non-sinusoidal phase currents and movement of the permanent magnets. The modeling method, based on the H-formulation of the magnetic fields, takes into account permanent magnetization and movement of permanent magnets. Calculated losses as function of the peak phase current of both superconducting actuators are compared to those of an equivalent non-cryogenic actuator.

Non-contact measurements of high temperature, accomplished with the use of infrared cameras and pyrometers, are utilized in many fields of science and industry. However, in order to obtain reliable measurement results from aforementioned devices, one should take account of the emissivity value of a thermal source the temperature of which is being measured. This is due to the necessity of calibration of non-contact thermometric devices in relation to emission characteristics of a blackbody, which is an ideal source with the maximum emissivity value. In order a non-contact temperature measurement was made possible without the necessity of taking into account the emissivity value, an original concept of the measurement method was developed, taking the advantage of thermal radiation laws – Planck’s law and Wien displacement law. The basic idea of the accepted method is the departure from amplitude recording (as in “conventional” pyrometry and thermovision) for linking of temperature recording with a maximum position in Planck’s curve. This article presents a novel approach that was used in the development of an original algorithm of temperature determination for performance of non-contact measurements of high temperature. The algorithm will enable to perform measurements without the necessity of introducing the emissivity value of a radiation source into a measurement instrument and will limit the impact of radiation absorption via the medium in which a measurement is being performed on the results of measurements. The applied methodology will allow conducting non-contact temperature measurements at a distance without the necessity of calibration the measuring device with regard to a blackbody.
