Opis:
As far as the rapid development of global marketing network is concerned , it is easy to notice that logistics is becoming increasingly important. The growing competition makes these networks more efficient. More and more opportunities to bring products to the customer disorganize sales network management. The analysis of the effectiveness of distribution channels allows a close examination of efficiency of how the company reaches its customers. It also supports decisions regarding the introduction of new, previously unused channels of distribution, or modification of the already in-use ones. The range of work included a manufacturer specializing in meat processing and production of meat products, distributed in southern Poland. Using the point-analytical method, the effectiveness of distribution channels used in the company was evaluated. As a result, it was possible to determine the performance of individual sales channels. There were three distribution channels: by-company, sponsored and networking. The most effective appeared to be the networking channel, which scored a total of 235 points. Given the greatest potential of distribution, this channel, in terms of the size of the batch supplied to markets, without doubt will continue to be one of the leading directions of development in the future of the company. In second place was the by-company channel with 195 points, while the sponsored channel was the least effective. However, as a conclusion from the information gathered from the company itself, each channel will be developed in the future, proportionally to their current rank.

This paper presents the results of an experimental study and mathematical modeling of the effect of dynamic instabilities on the condensation phase transformation of the refrigerants homogeneous R134a and its replacement in the form of isomers R1234yf and R1234ze and R404A or R507 and R448A in pipe mini-channels. In the case of homogeneous chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), it is the 1234 isomers that are envisioned as substitutes for the withdrawn ones with high ozone depletion potential and global warming potential. For zeotropic and azeotropic mixtures, for example, these are R507 or R448A. The paper presents a dimensional analysis procedure based on the Buckingham Π theorem to develop a regression velocity model of pressure dynamic instabilities. The experimental part of the work was carried out with the use of tubular mini-channels with internal diameter 1.40–3.3 mm.

The statistics of the error process generated by a discrete super channel formed by the concatenation of a constrained encoder, a non-renewal finite state channel (FSC), and a constrained decoder is studied in this paper. First, recursions are developed for the error weight distribution. This statistics is relevant to the design of coding schemes and interleaving in concatenated. systems. We also study the renewal nature of the residual error process as modified by the constrained decoder. Ferreira et al. conjectured that if the channel model is a renewal FSC, the super channel can be modeled as a similar renewal model. We use a statistics called the multigap distribution to analytically disprove this hypothesis. Furthermore, the effect of interleaving is investigated from a new perspective using the variance of the multigap distribution.

Opis:
Although the sedimentation and diagenesis of the Polish Zechstein Limestone strata (Ca1, Permian) already have been investigated, relatively little has been done to resolve their petrophysical potential. Therefore, the gap between sedimentological and petrophysical studies was bridged through an integrated analysis of geological and geophysical data. The results of core description, polarized-light microscopy, well log interpretations and laboratory measurements on core samples were combined with previously published nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and X-ray microtomography (μCT) data, especially helpful in the recognition of pore geometry. The Ca1 strata of the Brońsko-1 and Brońsko-2 wells, located on the Zechstein Brońsko Reef (West Poland), were studied to determine the influence of fossils on porosity and permeability. It was concluded that greater diversification of the original biota led to an increase in porosity and variation in pore geometry. While encrusting organisms such as foraminifers promoted the development of channel and fracture porosity, the dissolution of the primarily aragonitic bivalve and gastropod shells and the shells of terebratulid brachiopods often gave rise to the formation of cavernous and mouldic porosity. The channels appear to be most common in the bryozoan-foraminifer biofacies, representing a shallowing of the depositional environment. Caverns, in turn, corresponded to the organisms of the brachiopod-bryozoan and the lightly karstified bivalve-gastropod biofacies, both of which probably experienced the influence of sabkha conditions, leading to a general decrease in porosity. The bryozoan zoecia tended to enhance both primary intraparticle voids, and after their dissolution, secondary intraparticle pores, which showed limited connectivity in the high-energy Acanthocladia biofacies, where considerable fragmentation of fossils took place, hence decreasing the permeability. Anhydrite cementation was found to be the most pronounced factor controlling porosity destruction, while dolomitization enhanced it significantly, especially for the stromatolitic biofacies, where small, unconnected vugs were formed owing to this process. The permeability is typically below 100 mD, and this is caused by the rich diagenetic history of the reef, that recorded marine, sabkha-related and burial cementation, now represented by the different fabrics of anhydrite, calcite, and dolomite.

This paper describes the use of computational methods for solving the flow of the air-cooling in the large synchronous machines where it is used to cool the stator winding and stator radial channels which are located between the stator packet sheets. The overall process flow is mostly influenced by the size of air gap between stator and rotor, the shape of the radial channels, and by flow rates in machines. This paper mostly discusses about the influence flow rate of the cooling medium which has effects on the pressure distribution and flow rate in the radial channels. Cooling medium considered in this article an air and for and for calculation was chosen ANSYS CFX.

Signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) information is required in many communication receivers and their proper operation is, to a large extent, related to the SNR estimation techniques they employ. Most of the available SNR estimators are based on approaches that either require large observation length or suffer from high computation complexity. In this paper, we propose a low complexity, yet accurate SNR estimation technique that is sufficient to yield meaningful estimation for short data records. It is shown that our estimator is fairly close to the (CRLB) for high SNR values. Numerical results also confirm that, in terms of convergence speed, the proposed technique outperforms the popular moment based method, M2M4.

The endothelium is a highly active organ responsible for vasculatory tone and structure, angiogenesis, as well as hemodynamic, humoral, and inflammatory responses. The endothelium is constantly exposed to blood flow, sheer stress and tension. Endothelial cells are present as a vasculature in every tissue of the body and react to and control its microenvironment. A variety of ion channels are present in the plasma membranes of endothelial cells. These include potassium channels such as inwardly rectifying potassium (Kir) channels, voltage-dependent (Kv) channels, ATP-regulated potassium (KATP) channels and three types of calcium-activated potassium channels (KCa), the large (BKCa), intermediate (IKCa), and small (SKCa) -conductance potassium channels. Potassium current plays a critical role in action potentials in excitable cells, in setting the resting membrane potential, and in regulating neurotransmitter release. Mitochondrial isoforms of potassium channel contribute to the cytoprotection of endothelial cells. Prominent among potassium channels are families of calcium-activated potassium channels, and especially large-conductance calcium-activated potassium channels. The modulation of BKCa channels, which are voltage- and calcium-dependent, has been intensively studied. The BKCa channels show large expression dynamics in endothelial cells and tissue-specific expression of large numbers of alternatively spliced isoforms. In this review, a few examples of the modulatory mechanisms and physiological consequences of the expression of BKCa channels are discussed in relation to potential targets for pharmacological intervention.

Opis:
The glycine receptor belongs to the ligand-gated ion channel superfamily. It is a chloride conducting channel composed of four transmembrane domains. It was previously shown that the second transmembrane domain (M2) of the glycine receptor forms an ion conduction pathway throught lipid bilayers. The amino-acid sequence of the transmembrane segment M2 of the glycine receptor has a high homology to all receptors of the ligand-gated ion channel superfamily. In our report, we have used a synthetic M2 peptide. It was incorporated into a planar membrane of known lipid composition and currents induced by M2 were measured by the Black Lipid Membrane technique. When the planar lipid bilayer was composed of 75% phosphatidylethanolamine and 25% phosphatidylserine, the reversal potential measured in a 150/600 mM KCl (cis/trans) gradient was -19 mV suggesting that the examined pore was preferential to anions, PK/PCl = 0.25. In contrast, when 75% phosphatidylserine and 25% phosphatidylethanolamine was used, the reversal potential was +20 mV and the pore was preferential to cations, PK/PCl = 4.36. Single-channel currents were recorded with two predominant amplitudes corresponding to the main-conductance and sub-conductance states. Both conductance states (about 12 pS and 30 pS) were measured in a symmetric solution of 50 mM KCl. The observed single-channel properties suggest that the selectivity and conductance of the pore formed by the M2 peptide of the glycine receptor depend on the lipid composition of the planar bilayer.

Opis:
The work focused on developing functional coatings on titanium substrates that would facilitate the integration with the cardiac tissue and with a specific form of connective tissue like blood. Surface modifications consisted in the laser evaporation of part of the biocompatible layer, thus creating a suitable environment for a particular tissue. For the myocardium integration, the metal surface was refined by biohemocompatible coatings. Such surfaces were the starting point for further modifications in the form of channels. The channeled surfaces enabled a controlled cell migration and proliferation. The interaction of endothelial cells with the material was highly dependent on the surface characteristics such as: topography, microstructure or mechanical properties. The controlled cellular response was achieved by modifying the surface to obtain a network of wells or channels of different dimensions via the laser interference lithography. This technique determined a high resolution shape, size and distribution patterns. As a result, it was possible to control cells in the scale corresponding to biological processes. The surface periodization ensured the optimal flow of oxygen and nutrients within the biomaterial, which was of a key importance for the cell adhesion and proliferation. The work attempted at producing the surface networks mimicking natural blood vessels. To stimulate the formation of new blood vessel the finishing resorbable synthetic coatings were applied on the surface to act as a drug carrier. Therefore, the initial trial to introduce factors stimulating the blood vessels growth was performed.

Next, it deals with interest coordination at the European Commission level. The paper concludes that an erosion of corporatist forms is visible; no embracing pattern in the EU should be expected instead; on the contrary, increasing fragmentation of lobbying is observed.
