Research background: The 1980s saw popularization of the management paradigm requiring that employee intellectual potential should be noticed and used. The subjective approach to employees is fully reflected in the empowerment process. The definition scope of the analysed notion has not been unambiguously delineated to date. In narrow terms, empowerment means delegating power in the decision-making process and is considered a management method. In broad terms, in turn, the idea is at times called even a management concept. Purpose of the article: The aim of this paper is to provide answers to the following research questions: (1) Can empowerment be called a separate management concept? (2) What is the awareness of the essence of empowerment among contemporary employees? (3) What are the barriers to implementing empowerment assumptions in enterprises? Methods: The research process was based on literature studies and empirical research that was conducted in Poland under two separate research projects. One, carried out in the period 2006–2015, was oriented towards assessing the level of interest in employee participation and identifying the approach to implementing such participation in enterprises. The research covered over 300 respondents. It used structured interview complemented with free interview and analysis of the provided documents of the respondents’ enterprises. The results of the research encouraged a closer look at the category of empowerment. Pilot empirical research on the category of empowerment was conducted in 2016 with questionnaire surveys. The research sample was 63 employees. Findings: It was found that empowerment should be perceived as certain expansion of employee participation rather than a separate management concept. It consisted in sharing not only information but also power with employees. The results of the empirical research permitted the ascertainment that interest in lower participation forms prevailed among the respondents. Barriers related to applying empowerment were sought in this context. The pilot research allowed a conclusion that the barriers should be sought primarily in the failure to prepare (also mentally) employees and employers for using empowerment. Although the presented results of the research are not representative, they encourage further in-depth research within the discussed area.

This article presents the nature of employee loyalty, focusing on its affective and behavioral aspects. Symptoms of loyalty are pointed out, with the reservation that the manifestation of the lack of loyalty that affects the employer the most is voluntary employee departures. In order to prevent them, steps are taken to recognize employee expectations. Several tools are used for this purpose, however, the research based on employee opinion survey is particularly effective.
В своей статье авторка представляет суть лояльности работников, обращая внимание на ее аффективный и бихевиоральный аспекты. Определяет признаки лояльности, признавая одновременно, что самым обременительным для организации признаком нелояльности являются добровольные уходы с работы. Чтобы их предотвратить стремятся узнать ожидания работников. Для этого используются разные инструменты, а особенно эффективным является опрос, опирающийся на анкетные исследования.

The present study examines the HR practices on the employee commitment, employee behavior and employee performance and also among employee behavior and employee commitment, and employee behavior and employee performance of petroleum industry in Saudi Arabia. This research also investigates the mediating role of employee behavior among the links of HR practices, employee commitment, and employee performance of the petroleum industry in Saudi Arabia. The present article has used questionnaires for data collection and smart-PLS to test the relationships among variables. The results revealed that HR practices have a positive linkage with employee commitment, employee behavior and employee performance, and employee behavior also has a positive association with employee commitment and employee performance of the petroleum industry in Saudi Arabia. The findings also indicated that employee behavior significantly mediates among the relations of HR practices, employee commitment and employee performance of the petroleum industry in Saudi Arabia.
Niniejsze badanie analizuje praktyki HR w zakresie zaangażowania pracowników, zachowań pracowników i wydajności pracowników, a także wśród zachowań i zaangażowania pracowników oraz zachowań pracowników i wydajności pracowników przemysłu naftowego w Arabii Saudyjskiej. Badanie to analizuje również pośredniczącą rolę zachowania pracowników wśród powiązań praktyk HR, zaangażowania pracowników i wydajności pracowników przemysłu naftowego w Arabii Saudyjskiej. W niniejszym artykule wykorzystano kwestionariusze do zbierania danych oraz smart-PLS do testowania relacji między zmiennymi. Wyniki ujawniły, że praktyki HR mają pozytywny związek z zaangażowaniem pracowników, zachowaniem pracowników i wydajnością pracowników, a zachowanie pracowników ma również pozytywny związek z zaangażowaniem pracowników i wynikami pracowników przemysłu naftowego w Arabii Saudyjskiej. Wyniki wskazały również, że zachowanie pracowników istotnie pośredniczy w relacjach praktyk HR, zaangażowania pracowników i wyników pracowników przemysłu naftowego w Arabii Saudyjskiej.

The major issue addressed in this article is union involvement in conversions to employee ownership and the impact of such ownership on union roles and functions. The main point is that employee ownership appears to generate role conflict for unions as they thus potentially represent both employees and owners. The author hypothesizes that trade unions are ready to accept the conversion of a public firm to an EOC when the union is certain of maintaining political control over the company. There are two clearly defined situations in which unions might support a conversion: a) in the case of a failing firm that converts to employee ownership to save jobs; and b) in the case where a company is converted to protect it against a takeover by private competitors.

This study is aimed to examine the impact of tourism education and core tourism skills on the performance of employees in tourism industry in Indonesia. Additionally, the moderating effect of innovation in tourism has also been examined regarding the associations between tourism education and core tourism skills with the employees’ performance in tourism sector. This is a quantitative research in which questionnaire was used with Likert scale. Sample consists of 400 employees of tourist sector in Indonesia. Survey questionnaire was used to collect the data from tourism management companies of Indonesia. The study revealed that employee education and employee core skills increase the employee’s innovation which ultimately shows positive effect on employee performance. Therefore, employee innovation has mediating role between employee education, employee core skills and employee performance. Thus, the study provides valuable insights for practitioners while making the strategies to enhance employee performance in tourism industry.
Niniejsze badanie ma na celu zbadanie wpływu edukacji turystycznej i podstawowych umiejętności turystycznych na wyniki pracowników w branży turystycznej w Indonezji. Ponadto zbadano także łagodzący wpływ innowacji w turystyce na związki między edukacją turystyczną a podstawowymi umiejętnościami turystycznymi z wynikami pracowników w sektorze turystycznym. Jest to badanie ilościowe, w którym wykorzystano kwestionariusz ze skalą Likerta. Badanie obejmowało 400 pracowników sektora turystycznego w Indonezji. Kwestionariusz ankiety został wykorzystany do zebrania danych z firm zarządzających turystyką z Indonezji. Badanie wykazało, że edukacja pracowników i podstawowe umiejętności pracowników zwiększają innowacyjność pracownika, co ostatecznie wpływa pozytywnie na wydajność pracowników. Dlatego innowacje pracowników odgrywają rolę pośrednika między edukacją pracowników, podstawowymi umiejętnościami pracowników i wydajnością pracowników. W związku z tym badanie dostarcza cennych informacji dla praktyków podczas opracowywania strategii zwiększania wydajności pracowników w branży turystycznej.

Artykuł dotyczy problemów zwiększania efektywności przedsiębiorstw i opracowania systemu oceny pracowników przedsiębiorstwa.Uwzględniono także aspekty motywacji do przestrzegania standardów przez pracowników i działy organizacyjne; zostały one zbadane, ponieważ pracownicy są główną siłą napędową każdego przedsiębiorstwa. Aby właściwie jąocenić, wiele firm potrzebuje systemów oceny. W tym artykule autorzy przeprowadzili badanie i opracowali pakiet oprogramowania do oceny pracowników przedsiębiorstwa.W tym artykule opisano, jak opracować system przewidywania rankingu. MongoDB jest używanyjako baza danych, jako najszybszy sposób na wprowadzanie innowacji, zapewniając elastyczność i łatwość użytkowania bazy danych.

Knowledge, skills and talents of employees constitute a significant source of competi‑ tive advantage. The consequence of this paradigm is the conclusion that organizations attempting to increase the efficiency must take steps to improve employees’ qualifica‑ tions. Caring for the employee development, the enterprises aspire to creation of the best practices in this area. Over time, best practices are converging in all the companies performing in various cultures and countries. However, the dissimilarity of Polish condi‑ tions, instead of convergence, may cause divergence or cross‑vergence in the employee development. In the article, there were juxtaposed and compared the practices of the employees development in Polish and international companies operating in Poland. The aim of the comparison is to indicate the similarities, differences and trends in changes in employee development.

In this paper, the author presented his critical view of the position which the Supreme Administrative Court expressed in its judgement of 29 November 2018 (II FSK 799/18).1 The case in question concerned taxation of free-of-charge employee benefits, which consisted in providing an employee with accommodation in the place of secondiment. The court stated that, as a result of using the accommodation provided, the employee obtained taxable revenue. The author conducted a dogmatic and legal analysis of applicable provisions of the Personal Income Tax Act of 26 July 1991 and referred to views expressed in the doctrine of law and numerous judgements passed by administrative courts. The author paid particular attention to discussing the ruling of the Constitutional Tribunal of 8 July 2014 (K 7/13), in which the conditions under which a free-of-charge employee benefit may be deemed as revenue were described. Furthermore, the author expressed his critical view of the conclusions which arise from the resolution of the Supreme Court of 10 December 2015 (III UZP 14/15) and which the Supreme Administrative Court passively accepted in its grounds of the judgement in question. Finally, the author demonstrated that in the case in question, the requirement to provide the benefit in the interest of the employee was not met, and thus the benefit should not have been deemed the employee’s revenue.

Mining shaft is the most important element of the underground mine. It determines the mine’s ability to work efficiently. Mining shaft is used for transporting employees, equipment and dirt or output. It also allows to perform fast rescue operation and ensures that employees in danger can be quickly evacuated. Last but not least, it allows ventilation and functioning underground. Mining shaft and especially the shaft tube are subject to influences, both geological and anthropogenic. In details: local geological structure (deposit tectonic structure), mass rock movements due to exploitation inside and outside of safety shaft pillar, underground watercourses and leakages of shaft or voids around the shaft (especially dangerous in case of salt exploitation). Ensuring shaft’s safe operation is the primary aim of measurements and observations performed in mining shafts. This involves not only determining the current technical condition of the mining shaft, but also determining causes of observed changes (Szczerbowski & Jóźwik 2002). In order to preserve the efficiency of every shafts several inventory works have been performed, described in details in Ordinance (Regulation of the Minister of Economy from 28th of June 2002) and its appendix (Appendix nr 4 to Regulation of the Minister of Economy from 28th of June 2002, Jaśkowski 2013). This paper presents an overview of measurement techniques which are in use in order to perform shift tube’s inventory, with particular emphasis on telemetric measurement methods. The author compares classical measurement methods with possibilities of telemetry in few cases: financial, time-consuming and measurable. As an example monitoring system designed for the “Wieliczka” Salt Mine has been described in details. The system based on extensometers (vertical and horizontal strain gauges) and inclinometers, joined on each level and sent to the data centre was used in 2014 and 2015 to monitor deformations on and between five levels (from 0 m to −36 m) during sealing and stiffening the shaft housing. Material, injected under considerable pressure (up to 30 MPa) to 92 boreholes located few meters from the shaft, could damage the reinforcement and cause critical failures of the shaft. In order to prevent such situations, mobile system for monitoring the condition of the structure of the shaft was mounted. Its indications allowed to define in the current time the value of deformation occurring in the shaft and, if necessary, to immediately modify the schedule and course of injection works. Analysis of the results shows a slight deformation of the shaft housing during the injection and demonstrates the advantages of the monitoring system as well as a novel method of high-pressure injections (Jaśkowski et al. 2016).

This paper aims at examining the role of job autonomy in organizations and its relation with employee performance. This will be achieved by providing a critical review of the subject matter in existing management literature. In recent years, the concept of job autonomy has gained an increasing importance in practice of Human Resource Management. Even some studies claimed that job autonomy directly affects job performance and some of its indicators including job satisfaction, motivation, job engagement and job commitment. As a result, current paper aims at studying the effect of job autonomy on employee performance by critically reviewing existing work of human resource scholars. Main research questions approached by authors include: Is there any meaningful relationship between job autonomy and employee’s job performance distinguished in existing literature? If yes, what impact can be expected from job autonomy on employee’s job performance?

Struktura artykułu składa się z dwóch głównych części. Pierwsza z nich jest teoretyczna, druga empiryczna. Dane empiryczne zostały zebrane za pośrednictwem niestandaryzowanych wywiadów z pięcioma kierownikami projektów i pięcioma pracownikami zespołu.

Purpose – The purpose of the study was to estimate the prevalence of unequal treatment of men employed in Polish enterprises and the level of knowledge possessed by the employees in terms of the rights of discriminated persons.Methodology – A survey was carried out using a survey questionnaire which included a total of 304 male employees in 12 surveyed enterprises, holding managerial and specialist positions, located in various functional areas of the organization.Findings – The research confirmed the phenomenon of discrimination against men in the workplace and low level of respondents’ knowledge on the rights of discriminated persons. The answers provided by male respondents show that the most frequently encountered type of discrimination in order of indication was discrimination on grounds of education, age, sex, while the least indicated kind of discrimination concerned disability.Research implications – The findings of this study may serve as a starting point to discover the causes of the phenomenon of discrimination in the workplace.Practical implications – The findings of this study may be used by employers to develop programs against discrimination and to educate employees in identifying and responding to cases of unequal treatment in the workplace.Social implications – The findings of this study may increase the general knowledge on the phenomenon of discrimination in the workplace.Originality/Value – The article complements the knowledge on the selected manifestations of discrimination, the prevalence of unequal treatment of men in their working life and the level of knowledge possessed by the respondents in terms of the rights of discriminated persons.Type of article – A research article.

Opis:
This article is about motivation between employees and volunteers in local communities. Relationships between employers and employees are regulated by law. Employee provides his knowledge, skills and experience to employer to achieve planned organization targets and to create profit. According to Slovak law the salary includes not just only basic salary but also bonuses, tax, employee and employer healthcare and social insurance payments. The focus is on personnel policy of organization with an emphasis on achieving organizational goals and the successful allocation on the market. The emphasis is on motivation, which is necessary for personal feedback in organizations irrespective of size of organization. Article discusses the right work habits and shows how to encourage voluntary work. In the state, public organizations and local communities there are people - volunteers who want to work without financial or non-financial rewards. Focus of this article is on a human being, going through many changes and processes in his personal and professional life.
