Opis:
The paper outlines the mission, management, and working of the library system at the University of Bologna. The system has a scientific committee including professors and librarians who work together to share their aims and choices. This collaboration makes it possible for librarians to better understand professors’ needs concerning teaching and research. Professors, in turn, have the opportunity to express their needs and understand certain technical choices. Some activities are carried out centrally, namely the acquisition and cataloguing of electronic resources, and the management of the Italian OPAC of serials and of the Bolognese OPAC of monographs. Other central services include the digital reference service called “Ask a librarian” and the University digital library. Finally, the library system supports librarians with training and a telephone help desk. Information literacy is also ensured with specific projects. Monitoring the system is another important activity ensured within the system. The system has dedicated staff members. However, not only do they communicate with librarians, but they also involve colleagues in the different activities to exploit specific skills and knowledge. This creates strong cohesion, very important for the system to provide high quality services
Z jednej strony, współpraca ta umożliwia bibliotekarzom lepsze zrozumienie potrzeb nauczycieli akademickich związanych z pracą naukową i dydaktyczną. Z drugiej strony, profesorowie mają szansę wyrazić swoje potrzeby i zrozumieć różne wybory natury technicznej.

The colour characteristics (L*; a*; b*), dinitrosylhaem/total haem ratio (D), and pH of frankfurter- and Bologna-type sausages as influenced by 0%, 25%, 30%, and 35% of beef replacement with soy protein isolate were studied. The influence of soy protein hydration (1:4; 1:4.5; 1:5) on D was analysed for the sausages with a 15% replacement of beef. The colour characteristics of the sausages was influenced by the addition of soy protein isolates and particularly the lightness (L*) of the sausages was influenced by the amount of beef replacement with soy protein isolate. Soy protein addition to the sausage formulations changed the pH of sausage mixtures and altered haem conversion to dinitrosylhaem. The alterations of the conversion of haem to dinitrosylhaem were dependent on the degree of soy protein isolate hydration before incorporation to the sausage mixture.

Bologna declaration

free movement of European Union citizens
Opis:
Finland is a member of the European Higher Education Area. The principles of the Bologna Declaration have become reality in certain respects. The form and structure of Finnish law degrees are uniform with the Bologna model. However, mobility and the free movement of students have only been realised in a limited sense. Finnish law degrees are still closed both in international and national respects. Uniformity of degrees is treated here as a means to carrying out free movement and the right of establishment as the principles of the European Union. Uniformity of degrees is a necessary precondition in recognising degrees earned in another country. Without the recognition of the workmanship and degree earned in a home country, it is very difficult to establish oneself in a host county. Both the basic treaties and the applicable directives of the European Union obligate member states to recognise degrees earned in other member states. There are, however, important exceptions and restrictions. Lawyers often work as judges, prosecutors, bailiffs and other officers. They are subject to exceptions and restrictions. As a rule, advocates have the freedom to provide services and establish themselves in a permanent way, and act as advocates in another member state. Even in this case, there are steps and restrictions. In practice, it is not easy to move to another member state and act as an advocate with the help of a law degree earned in the home state. Basically, the reasons for these difficulties are the differences between national legal systems.

Bologna Process
Erasmus
student mobility
Opis:
Introduction: The Bologna Process has initiated the “culture of reforms” in higher education, conditioning the economic and social development of Europe. Erasmus Plus is an EU programme of education in 2014-2020. Despite the numerous benefits it offers to students, their mobility within the Erasmus Plus Programme proves to be low (not satisfactory). Purpose: Review the theoretical and practical aspects of student mobility, with particular emphasis on the Erasmus Plus Programme. Materials and methods: We searched for extant networks through peer-reviewed literature and the world-wide web. Additionally, we used a data analysis on the mobility of students of medicine and health sciences in 2005-2015 within the Erasmus Plus Programme, at selected university in Poland. Results: According to the educational standards in the European Union, students of medical faculties are obliged to complete 12 semesters of studies comprising 5,500 hours under teachers’ supervision. In Poland there are 5,700 hours – these additional hours account for mandatory physical education and foreign language classes which are not taught in other countries. Data from the last decade indicate that student mobility in Poland is an overestimated phenomenon as it concerns a narrow circle of students. Conclusions: A student who benefits from a scholarship under the Erasmus Plus Programme enhances their self-esteem and development opportunities. Participation in an international programme seems to bring benefits alone. In practice, however, there prove to be numerous barriers related to student mobility, such as financial problems, language barriers and issues related to the recognition (crediting) of a period of study completed at a partner university.

Croatian higher education policy is in line with the changes which will occur after Croatia joins the EU. The country has been harmonising its policy with the Lisbon objectives, the Bologna Declaration and the other EU documents, and has been developing its national qualifications framework (NQF), which is modelled after the European Qualifications Framework (EQF) as an instrument which will facilitate validation, harmonisation, comparison and measurability of learning outcomes, and is aimed at personal development, development of social inclusiveness, facilitation of lifelong learning, and recognition of acquired qualifications (diplomas) on both the national and the European level. In this context, significant changes have taken place in the higher education sector, especially in the education and training of teachers who are entrusted with a responsible task of reconceptualising upbringing and education towards sustainable development. Therefore, from both the global and the national perspective, there is an effort to raise awareness about the importance of teacher competences development, curriculum modifications and adaptations in the context of the Bologna process, and the development of a national qualifications framework. The development of teacher competences through initial education and their professional development, as well as the need for pupils/students to assume the central position in the education process, are being identified as the determinants of a qualitative change of schools in general. The importance of acquiring additional qualifications through post-graduate studies is being highlighted with the purpose of teachers' continuous professional development.

One goal of the Bologna process is to restructure European university programs from monolithic five-year programs into two cycles, bachelor’s and master’s. In this paper, we ask academic staff (n=52) and students (n=126) at the Faculty of Education of Charles University in Prague about their opinions on the implementation of the two-cycle system at their faculty. Nine out of ten academic staff and three out of ten students prefer the old five-year programs, arguing that the two-cycle system is not suitable for teacher training, subject courses are not sufficiently linked with teaching courses and that bachelor’s graduates cannot find jobs at schools. Students tend to prefer the two-cycle system, mostly because they get the bachelor’s degree. Our results can be used as empirical evidence in discussion about possible changes of teacher training programs.

Within the last decade the most significant development of the European Union in the education field has been the Bologna Process. The reference point of the Process is the European Qualifications Framework at the international level, and national qualifications framework at the national level. The Bologna term of “sector qualifications” is dealt with in two different meanings. The first is related to the hierarchy of the field of education from programme to broad field in the UNESCO approach. The second is sector standards determined according to the needs of economic sectors. This paper is devoted to developing the field architecture of the scientific family of program qualifications. In this work, while the field qualifications have been developed in Turkey, international standard classifications of education, occupations and industries were taken into account; and moreover, qualifications were developed from the vertically and horizontally hierarchical point of view, and chronological perspective. In this work, it is suggested that EQF-LLL and NQF can also be applied to all types of field qualifications.

The Bologna process has created new opportunities for bilateral agreements between universities. One of the results of such a contract could be a double degree certificate which consists of two independent diplomas that are offered for the students who participated in an exchange. Programmes that involve strong quantitative courses have started to be interesting for universities with a quantitative approach which is connected with the recent disturbances in the financial markets that caused a big increase in demand for specialists from the risk measurement and management area. Additionally, a possibility of exchange highly improves the attractiveness of the programme. The aim of the paper is to show the benefits of the Bologna process for universities and students based on the example of the Master studies’ curriculum offered by one of the Polish universities.

Rule extraction from neural networks is a fervent research topic. In the last 20 years many authors presented a number of techniques showing how to extract symbolic rules from Multi Layer Perceptrons (MLPs). Nevertheless, very few were related to ensembles of neural networks and even less for networks trained by deep learning. On several datasets we performed rule extraction from ensembles of Discretized Interpretable Multi Layer Perceptrons (DIMLP), and DIMLPs trained by deep learning. The results obtained on the Thyroid dataset and the Wisconsin Breast Cancer dataset show that the predictive accuracy of the extracted rules compare very favorably with respect to state of the art results. Finally, in the last classification problem on digit recognition, generated rules from the MNIST dataset can be viewed as discriminatory features in particular digit areas. Qualitatively, with respect to rule complexity in terms of number of generated rules and number of antecedents per rule, deep DIMLPs and DIMLPs trained by arcing give similar results on a binary classification problem involving digits 5 and 8. On the whole MNIST problem we showed that it is possible to determine the feature detectors created by neural networks and also that the complexity of the extracted rulesets can be well balanced between accuracy and interpretability.

The article is devoted to the sphere of higher education in two former Soviet countries: Russia and Belarus . It is aimed to compare the systems of higher education in these countries under the angle of global and regional challenges . The article is based on national statistics from both states and survey data . The author analyses the ways that each of the countries’ practices to increase its educational competitiveness on the global level and adapt to the market conditions . It is described that both countries use such mechanisms in the sphere of higher education as an educational service for foreign students and membership in the educational associations (European and Eurasian) . The scale of the systems of higher education and their potential are described to explain the similarities and differences between the two countries. Three types of educational integration are described . The article concludes that the system of higher education in Belarus is currently developing in a way that differs from Russia and its achievements are much smaller; at the same time, regardless of the declarations on the necessity of internationalisation, current development leads Belarus further away from the European education system, while also not make it closer to Russia . A lack of resources and political dominance over the educational goals make the Belarusian system of higher education not as attractive for students as the Russian one.

Opis:
Since its inception, the governments of 29 European countries (member states of the Bologna Declaration in 1999) had as their main target the creation of a common and coherent system of Higher Education Area in Europe (EHEA). The main intention for the creation of a ‘European Education Area’ was the fostering of student mobility and employability in order to strengthen competition and to make the European Higher Education more attractive. The main focus of this paper is the analysis of the National Periodic Reports for the period 2004-2009, the Albanian National Strategy for Higher Education 2014-2020, and a study on the presence of Quality Assurance Institutions in Higher Education, based on the report from the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Exécutive Agency. The methodology chosen by the authors of this paper is to divide into four groups the countries that have established a national or private Quality Assurance Institution as part of their higher education system in order to assess whether the existence/presence of such institutions act as key instruments to ensuring the quality of higher education. It is recommended that Albania even though listed in the group of countries establishing a National Quality Assurance Agency, can ‘maybe’ follow the model of those European countries that have established a further Private Quality Assurance Agency in addition to the National Quality Assurance Agency. It is believed that the further establishment of a carefully chosen private quality assurance agency (ENQA or EQAR) would ensure quality and guarantee transparency in higher education.

While there is general agreement that we need to increase the quality of education, there is less agreement on the measures to be taken. This paper focuses on the need to build the high-quality teaching profession to respond to the changing role of teachers in the twenty first century. It is argued that changes in the system of education should include a central place for the teacher and the quality of teacher education. The paper looks at selected aspects of teacher education policy in relation to the Bologna process and changes that were implemented at different levels of the system of education in Poland. A specific concern of this paper is policies that contribute to raising teacher education quality in a way which responds to the challenges of teachers preparation, recruitment, work and careers, and especially teachers’ lifelong learning. The implications of the analysis are that teacher education policy development in Poland should focus on futher actions for attracting to the teaching profession the best candidates and for retaining the best teachers in the school system in order to build a high-quality teaching profession. Some measures for achieving these goals are proposed.
