    The aim of the presented research results was to diagnose changes in leisure time behaviours in the situation of the Covid-19 epidemic. The acquired knowledge about changing leisure time behaviour will be used to develop programmes to promote leisure time activity for students during and after the pandemic. The respondents used the Jay B. Nash model of leisure time, which indicates 4 levels of positive use of leisure time and also includes 2 negative levels, i.e. excesses and crime. We assume that the change in leisure time behaviours during the pandemic may consist in creating more valuable forms of activity, giving not so much pleasure but satisfaction (e.g. pursuing interests, creative activity). We also assume that as a result of these changes a sense of spending time in a valuable and meaningful way during the pandemic (building health, feeling satisfied) will be created, which may result in the permanence of the behavioural changes that have occurred, which may become new health and leisure time habits.

    The article is a summary of research into the perception of leisure time space, conducted in 2014 among Liceum students (aged 16-19) and members of the ‘Universities of the Third Age’ (U3A) in Łódź. The author compared perceptions of the idea of leisure time by both of these groups, studied how they spent it and described the factors which have a significant influence. Next, he analysed different approaches to the urban space of Łódź as well as comparing them to the spatial range and the types of visited places and events.

    Objectives:  The present study aimed to to investigate the role of the leisure time physical activities in the control of abnormal behaviours of male high school students in Tehran (Iran). Methods: A sample of 1715 students was selected based on multi-stage cluster random sampling using Cochran’s formula. The research instrument was an ad hoc questionnaire of abnormal behaviours elaborated by the researchers and based on the previous literature. Its validity was confirmed by a group of fifteen university teachers of physical education, sociology, and psychology. The reliability was 0.85 using Cronbach’s alpha. Descriptive statistics, inferential statistics, and independent samples t-test (p?0.05) were used in the analysis of the data. Findings: The results showed that participation in leisure time physical activities has a positive role in reducing all the three areas of abnormal behaviours (maladaptive behaviours, anti-social behaviours, and immoral behaviours). Conclusions: Family leisure time planners, social and health policy makers are recommended to take supportive measures in order to incorporate sports activities in students’ lifestyle.

    Celem przeprowadzonych badań była ocena aktywności fizycznej młodzieży gimnazjalnej z uwzględnieniem różnicy płci, oraz analiza oferty szkół w zakresie wypracowania postaw prorekreacyjnych wśród młodzieży gimnazjalnej. Badaniami objęto 300 uczniów szkół gimnazjalnych funkcjonujących w Puławach. Na podstawie otrzymanych wyników badań stwierdzono, że uczniowie oceniają dobrze swoją kondycję fizyczną i uważają, że w większości prowadzą aktywny tryb życia. Natomiast dalsze badania wskazują, że w wolnym czasie wybierają raczej bierne formy wypoczynku. Stwierdzono również znaczne różnice w przejawianych tendencjach do rekreacji wśród dziewcząt i chłopców oraz zbyt małe uczestnictwo rodziców i nauczycieli w procesie wypracowywania postaw prozdrowotnych wśród badanej młodzieży.
    The aim of the study was to evaluate physical activity lower secondary school students. The difference in gender are included in research. Schools offers in terms of teaching prorecreation attitudes among youth students have been analyzed. The study included 300 students from Puławy middle schools Based on the obtained results, it was found that students positively evaluate their physical condition. Most students believe that they lead an active lifestyle. But further research indicates that students choose more passive forms of rest in their free time. Girls and boys chose other forms of recreation. Too little participation of parents and teachers in the process of teaching healthy attitudes among surveyed youth has been established.

    Introduction: Physical activity, apart from enhancing proper body functioning, is a natural need of every human being, and taken up regularly brings numerous health benefits. The aim of the research was to define the level of physical activity in leisure time as well as to present the forms of physical activity preferred by students. Material and methods: The research was conducted in the academic year 2017/2018 among the first year students of The State Higher Vocational School in Tarnów, majoring in Physical Education, Physiotherapy and Nursing. The survey covered the total of 209 students, 153 females (73.2%) and 56 males (26.8%). A diagnostic survey was applied as the research method, and the empirical material was collected with the use of a questionnaire. Results: The research showed that the level of students’ physical activity varied depending on both sex and the field of study. The majority of the respondents (66.5%) showed a low level of physical activity. The female students most frequently practised swimming (22.2%) and running (13.1%), whereas the male students preferred football (32.1%), gym workout (17.9%) and, similarly to the females, swimming (14.3%). Conclusions: On the basis of the research results and the formulated conclusions it can be stated that taking decisive and effective actions in order to develop positive attitudes towards physical culture among children and youth and to prepare them for lifelong care for their body should be a priority.
    Wstęp: Ruch, poza wspomaganiem prawidłowego funkcjonowania organizmu jest naturalną potrzebą każdego człowieka, a podejmowany systematycznie przynosi wiele korzyści zdrowotnych. Celem badań było określenie poziomu aktywności fizycznej w czasie wolnym oraz wykazanie preferowanych form ruchu wśród studentów. Materiał i metody: Badania przeprowadzono w roku akademickim 2017/2018 wśród studentów I-go rocznika Państwowej Wyższej Szkoły Zawodowej w Tarnowie, na kierunkach: wychowanie fizyczne, fizjoterapia i pielęgniarstwo. Ogółem przebadano 209 studentów, w tym 153 kobiety (73,2%) i 56 mężczyzn (26,8%). W badaniach zastosowano metodę sondażu diagnostycznego, a do zebrania materiału empirycznego wykorzystano ankietę. Wyniki: Badania wykazały, że poziom aktywności fizycznej studentów był zróżnicowany zarówno pod względem płci jak i kierunku studiów. Większość (66,5%) respondentów prezentowało niski poziom aktywności fizycznej. Kobiety najczęściej ćwiczyły pływanie (22,2%) i bieganie (13,1%), a mężczyźni preferowali piłkę nożną (32,1%), ćwiczenia na siłowni (17,9%) oraz podobnie jak kobiety pływanie (14,3%). Wnioski: Na podstawie wyników badań i sformułowanych wniosków można stwierdzić, iż podejmowanie zdecydowanych i skutecznych działań w kształtowaniu u dzieci i młodzieży pozytywnych postaw wobec kultury fizycznej oraz przygotowywaniu ich do całożyciowej dbałości i troski o ciało, powinno być priorytetem.

    Leisure-time behavior, including tourist activity among contemporary adolescents has raised great interest of scientists and the representatives of the tourism industry. Not only it is important to estimate the rate of tourism activity among adolescents, but also it is necessary to bear in mind the analysis of behavior shaped on account of their gender, place of residence, or level of education. An attempt to conduct such a study was made on the basis of survey data obtained within the group of 1,067 junior high school students of the selected voivodeships in Poland. The results obtained clearly indicate that almost 1/4 of the students surveyed had not participated in tourist trips. This was particularly noticeable in the case of boys and students living in rural areas. it is important to take broader steps to stimulate young people’s needs for tourism and sightseeing. First of all, from the family which is considered a social institution, it is expected to raise young generations in the spirit of tourism and active leisure. Family’s contemporary problems: increasing poverty, or even its (partial) marginalization are commonly disregarded. A systemic approach (support for families by schools, social organizations, and government units) appears to be a successful solution, but it is a long-term and complex process.

    Background. Studies on physical activity are vital for those students destined to become the future elite in the Visegrad countries. This issue is of particular concern because most studies undertaken from various countries have, in this respect, demonstrated significant deficiencies. Study aims: to determine the link between students leisure time and their levels of physical activity according to gender. Material and methods. Subjects were 2337 university students consisting of 1169 females and 1068 males from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland and Hungary studying a variety of disciplines. The long version of the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) was used as a standardised measure for the study. Results. Male students were found to have significantly more leisure time than females, with the highest levels observed in those studying the humanities, somewhat lower levels for the medical sciences whilst the lowest were for the technical sciences. The greater the amount of leisure time, the more significant was the impact found on levels of physical activity. Male students with sufficient leisure time demonstrated the highest levels of physical activity. However, no such relation was found in women where, in contrast, the highest levels of physical activity were found in those having too little leisure time. Conclusions. The differences observed between genders in their links with leisure time and levels of physical activity should be taken into account when the teaching of physical activities are designed/devised for student studies.
    Wprowadzenie. Badania aktywności fizycznej studentów jako przyszłych elit każdego kraju mają szczególne znaczenie. Ranga tego problemu jest szczególnie ważna, gdyż większość badań w różnych krajach pokazuje ich niezadowalający poziom. Celem pracy jest poszukiwanie związku czasu wolnego posiadanego przez studentów z uwzględnieniem płci z ich aktywnością fizyczną. Materiał i metody. Materiał badawczy stanowili studenci wyższych uczelni z Czech, Słowacji, Polski i Węgier w liczbie 2. 237 osób z różnych kierunków studiów w tym 1.169 kobiet i 1.068 mężczyzn. Do badań wykorzystano Międzynarodowy Kwestionariusz Aktywności Fizycznej (IPAQ) w wersji długiej. Wyniki. Wykazano istotnie większą ilość czasu wolnego wśród studiujących mężczyzn w odniesieniu do kobiet. Najwięcej czasu wolnego zadeklarowali studenci nauk humanistycznych, nieco mniej medycznych, a najmniej technicznych. Większa ilość czasu wolnego wśród ogółu studentów ma istotny związek z ich całkowitą aktywnością fizyczną. Studiujących mężczyzn o wystarczającej ilości czasu wolnego cechował najwyższy poziom całkowitej aktywności fizycznej. Takiego związku nie stwierdzono wśród kobiet, wręcz odwrotnie najwyższy poziom całkowitej aktywności fizycznej uzyskały studentki posiadające zbyt mało czasu wolnego. Wnioski. Wykazane różnice miedzy studiującymi kobietami i mężczyznami w relacji ich czasu wolnego i poziomu aktywności fizycznej należy uwzględnić w procesie dydaktycznym zajęć ruchowych w trakcie studiów.

    The aim of this study is to analyze the daily free time budget of students, their free time structure and to show the possible differences in free time management depending on the respondents’ professional status. The primary method of collecting research material was a diagnostic survey, including the questionnaire developed by the author. The research was conducted twice, in 2018 and 2020, each time at two academic centres in Poland. The research results show that students are a very diverse social group in terms of activities undertaken in their free time, and the visible differences in how it is spent are linked to the income source of the respondents.
    Celem opracowania jest badanie dobowego budżetu czasu studentów i struktury ich czasu wolnego oraz ukazanie ewentualnych różnic gospodarowania czasem wolnym w zależności od statusu zawodowego respondentów. Podstawową metodą zbierania materiału badawczego był sondaż diagnostyczny, którego podstawą był kwestionariusz autorskiej ankiety. Badania przeprowadzono w latach 2018 i 2020 w każdym roku w dwóch ośrodkach akademickich w Polsce. Uzyskane wyniki wskazują, że studenci stanowią bardzo zróżnicowaną grupę społeczną pod względem wybieranych aktywności w czasie wolnym oraz występują wyraźne różnice w sposobie spędzania przez nich czasu wolnego związane ze źródłem ich utrzymania.

    Introduction. Leisure may provide certain unique subjective well-being (SWB) benefits that cannot be obtained through other domains in life, as leisure is typically characterized by autonomy or greater freedom of choice than other life dimensions. The objective of the present study was to analyse the level of SWB in male and female high school students with different health status preferring sedentary leisure time activities and compare SWB dimensions (SWB-Ds) between healthy students and students with self-reported health disorders (S-RHDs). Material and Methods. The research sample comprised of 153 male students (healthy; n=90 and with S-RHDs; n=63) and 238 female students (healthy; n=126 and with S-RHDs; n=112) who preferred sedentary types of leisure time activities. A standardized The Bern Subjective Well-Being Questionnaire for Adolescents (BFW) was used as a primary research method. Non-parametric Mann Whitney U-test was used to assess differences between two independent groups of male and female high school students according to their self-reported health status (healthy vs. with S-RHDs). Results. Significantly higher level of negative SWB-Ds was found in the group of male students with S-RHDs compare healthy male students (U=1672, p=0.000, r=0.34). No significant differences were found in the comparison between healthy female students and female students with S-RHDs. Conclusions. Many researches indicate a very close positive connection between regular participation in sport leisure activities and SWB, but just few of them investigate correlations and comparisons among SWB, health status and sport leisure activities participation.

    Przedmiotem opracowania jest gospodarowanie czasem wolnym studentów studiów stacjonarnych pierwszego stopnia. Celem artykułu jest analiza struktury czasu wolnego i sposobu jego wykorzystania przez badanych studentów oraz pokazanie różnorodności spędzania wolnego czasu w zależności od ich statusu zawodowego. Podstawową metodą pozyskania materiału badawczego była ankieta diagnostyczna, w której wykorzystano własny kwestionariusz autorski. Badanie przeprowadzono w marcu 2018 roku na próbie 267 studentów z dwóch ośrodków akademickich w Polsce. Studenci okazali się bardzo zróżnicowaną grupą społeczną pod względem wybieranych aktywności w czasie wolnym. Wykazano także wyraźne różnice w sposobie spędzania czasu wolnego związane ze źródłem ich utrzymania, przy czym czas wolny studentów pracujących zawodowo na własne utrzymanie nie jest przez nich spędzany głównie w postaci aktywności wymagających znaczniejszych wydatków.
    The aim of the paper is to analyze the structure of free time and how it is used by students under survey, and to show the diversity in spending free time, depending on their professional status. The basic method of collecting the research material was a diagnostic survey, in which the author’s own questionnaire was used. The survey was carried out in March 2018 on a sample of 267 students from two academic centers in Poland. Students turned out to be a very diverse social group in terms of their leisure activities. There were also clear differences in the way of spending free time related to the source of their income. However, the free time of students working professionally for their livelihoods is not spent by them mainly for activities which require more substantial expenditure.

    W prezentowanej pracy autorzy przedstawiają opinię 176 uczniów (91 chłopców i 85 dziewcząt) klas pierwszych szkoły ponadgimnazjalnej na temat proponowanego wprowadzenia edukacji zdrowotnej do podstawy programowej z wychowania fizycznego. Pracownicy Katedry Podstaw Humanistycznych i Promocji Zdrowia Akademii Wychowania Fizycznego we Wrocławiu skonstruowali ankietę oraz testu zdań niedokończonych będących projekcyjną techniką badania postaw. Dzięki analizie zebranego materiału odpowiedziano na pytania dotyczące opinii badanych stanowiących jednocześnie grupą docelową zmian rozwoju programu wychowania fizycznego. Wyniki poddano analizie statystycznej, różnicując grupę badanych ze względu na płeć. Zdecydowana większość chłopców wyraża negatywny pogląd co do wprowadzenia edukacji zdrowotnej w systemie klasowo-lekcyjnym. Pomysł ten nie jest też akceptowany przez około połowę badanych dziewcząt. Uzyskane szczegółowe dane wskazują na szanse i zagrożenia przewidywanych zmian w programie wychowania fizycznego dotyczące edukacji zdrowotnej.
    In the said research work the authors present secondary 176 school students’ (91 boys and 85 girls) opinion on the introduction of health education into the basic curriculum for physical education. The lecturers of the Faculty of Humanities and Health Promotion at the University of Physical Education in Wrocław designed a questionnaire and used an incomplete sentence test - the projection technique used to conduct attitude research. The analysis of the collected material answered a number of questions concerning the subjects’ (the target group of the changes) opinion about physical education. The results were analyzed in relation to the respondents’ sex. Most boys are against introducing health education into the basic curriculum. The idea is also criticized by nearly half of the girls. The obtained detailed data indicate both the chances and threats resulting from the proposed changes to health promotion introduced into the curriculum for physical education.

    The study aimed to answer three research questions. The first question concerned the motifs for which students of both sexes take up physical activity; the second one referred to the preferred forms of activity in relation to the season of the year; and the third question concerned differences between the sexes in relation to choosing recreational forms of physical activity. 451 persons (217 women and 234 men) participated in the study. To conduct the study, the authors used a questionnaire. Its results showed that the seasons of the year have influence on the frequency of taking up physical activity, on its duration, and preferred forms. It also showed that students of both sexes devote too little time to physical activity needed to stay healthy. Differences between both sexes are visible in smoking, the frequency and duration of physical activies, and preferred recreational forms.
    Celem przeprowadzonych badań była odpowiedź na trzy pytania badawcze. Pierwsze dotyczyło motywów podejmowania aktywności fizycznej przez studentów i studentki, drugie preferowanych form aktywności fizycznej w zależności od pory roku, a trzecie różnic płciowych w wyborze rekreacyjnych form aktywności fizycznej. W przeprowadzonych badaniach wzięło udział 451 osób (w tym 217 studentek i 234 studentów). Wykorzystano autorski kwestionariusz ankiety. Badania wykazały, że pora roku ma wpływ na częstotliwość podejmowania się aktywności fizycznej, na czas jej trwania oraz preferowane formy aktywności, a także, że badani studenci i studentki poświęcają zbyt mało czasu w tygodniu na aktywność fizyczną niezbędną do zachowania zdrowia. Różnice płciowe zauważa się w paleniu tytoniu częstotliwości oraz czasie trwania aktywności fizycznej oraz jej preferowanych formach rekreacyjnych.

    Aim. The article examines the characteristics of learning English in students from different cultural backgrounds – Thailand and Latvia. We aimed to gain empirical evidence of how the cultural background influences student leisure time English language learning habits and their English language learning anxiety. Concept and Methods. In the study two questionnaires were used: leisure time use of reading and writing activities in English (RWA), and English language learning anxiety scale (ELLAS). RWA included five areas of leisure time use of reading and writing activities:  using Internet or e-mail, writing regularly, reading regularly, watching TV or movies, and having checker; ELLAS consisted of four subscales - Communication Anxiety, Fear of Negative Evaluation, Test Anxiety, and English Classroom anxiety. The participants in the study were 95 undergraduate sports science program students from Thailand and Latvia – Thai students were 50, and 45 students represented Latvia. The research was carried out in two stages, first one being a pilot study. Results and Conclusions. The results showed that Thai and Latvian students showed more similarities in their leisure time use of reading and writing activities in English than differences: they often watched movies and TV, but rarely were reading and writing to improve their English. Latvian students spent more time watching TV, movies, reading regularly, using Internet or e-mail than Thai students (p < .01 and .05). Both Thai and Latvian students experienced moderately elevated communication anxiety, fear of negative evaluation, test anxiety, and English classroom anxiety. However, Thai students had higher anxiety than Latvian students in all aspects of ELLAS (independent samples t-test, statistically significant level of .01).
