The media policy of television stations treats attracting viewers’ attention as the primordial principle of their operation. The use of pathological content that crosses the boundaries of the normative system on screen has become a new media practice and a strategy for increasing viewership. An example of such production is tv programme “Chłopaki do wzięcia”, described as ‘documentary’. Its protagonists are men and women from Polish villages and small towns who are looking for love. The author attempts to examine the ‘reality’ presented in the programme “Chłopaki do wzięcia” by means of content analysis, which is the starting point for the analysis of social representations. He uses theoretical categories concerning new media practices, such as: humiliation culture, victim show theory, stereotypes and media voyeurism. The aim of this article is an attempt to identify media images and specific interpretations of reality in the programme “Chłopaki do wzięcia”, which, in the author’s opinion, contribute to maintaining a negative image of rural inhabitants by transmitting social pathology to television. Moreover, the author makes an attempt to outline the policies followed by the producers of “Guys for the Taking” to explain its popularity and the reasons behind its creation.

Introduction. Pesticides are widely employed in agriculture, and the food industry is forced to combat the pests and diseases they cause. Respiratory pathology is related to occupational exposure to pesticides. Impairment of pulmonary function was observed among people professionally exposed to pesticides. Because of the marked use of pesticides in agriculture during the last 20 years, there has been a significant increase in respiratory problems within the population, not only among people who come in direct contact with them, but even in the case of manipulators. Objective. The aim is a review of the literature of the past 10 years on the correlation between occupational exposure to pesticides and respiratory pathology. Materials and method. Electronic search in ‘Pub Med’ and ‘Web of Science’ was performed in September 2019 to find papers regarding the above-investigated aspects. Abstracts and full-text articles containing the targeted subject were included. Reviews and studies about the influence of pesticides on other pathologies than respiratory were excluded. After applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria, eligible full-text articles were identified. Conclusions. Exposure to pesticides is highly correlated with respiratory pathologies (asthma, COPD, lung cancer). Contact with these substances can occur at any time in the production, transport, preparation or application of the treatments. Numerous studies documented the association between exposure to pesticides, and therefore the increased incidence of respiratory, cardiovascular and renal diseases, as well as the aging phenomenon.

Development of civilization, in addition to its undoubted advantages, also brought many risks which include new types of addictions. There are dozens of addictions associated with modern civilization, the development of techniques and various inventions and customs change. The group particularly at risk of addiction, which involves development of civilization are children and young people. Therefore, they should be subject to particularly intense interactions in prevention. Early action can protect against the dangers, but also indicate how to cope in difficult situations, how to avoid hazards or whom, if necessary, ask for help. In this respect, the most appropriate would appear common actions taken by the child's family home and school, which are the basic educational environment. In this article, the author attempts to present the most common “new” addictions threatening children and adolescents.

Pathological online communication behaviours and their detrimental effects have remained a significant component of Internet research ever since it became a field of study in media science. It is safe to say that, in addition to the valuable content posted on social media, one can also find content that can be threatening given the media reality of today’s online audience. In the author’s opinion, pathostreaming and pathological content should certainly be considered as such. Pathostreaming is a new phenomenon in the media space, which involves posting of online recordings or images containing obscene, vulgar and sexual content, as well as, spreading hate speech on various digital platforms. Its peculiarity has contributed to the emergence of new media entities – the pathostreamer, the pathoinfluencer and the pathouser. The author of this article attempts to analyse the activities of obscene content creators and their viewers using content analysis and interviews. The paper’s goals are to demonstrate the phenomenon of pathostreaming as the risk of social pathologies being transmitted into the online space and to outline media policy towards this media problem.

The aim of the article is to present and describe how to counteract threats to social security through sport. The theoretical method of analysis and criticism of the literature was used in the research work. The conducted research allowed to determine that mainly trainers and pedagogues play an important role in the prevention of risky behavior. The review of the literature allowed to conclude that the research work is based primarily on surveys and currently only a few researchers conduct research on combating social security threats through physical activity. In connection with the above, it is necessary to continue research in this direction, using such research methods as the individual case method.

The article discusses the problem of counteracting academic promotion won on the basis of apparent achievements. Attention was drawn to the growing problem of so-called “Slovak habilitation and degrees”, to the pedagogical promotion of persons from outside of pedagogy that is not justified by achievements of good quality, but is based on popular science publications, to the phenomenon of softening and ignoring negative reviews and the reviewers’ tendency to mitigate the final conclusions of their opinions. Some ways to prevent promotional pathology are also recommended as worth using in academic practices.

Social safety includes all the legal acts and organizational activities carried out by the government, non-governmental entities and citizens themselves. They aim to assure a certain level of life to the individuals, families and social groups refraining them from social marginalization. 1 The threats to social safety should be prevented by the state. Social pathologies are one of them. They constitute various social phenomena and individual or social groups’ attitudes that are contradictory to the values of certain cultures and cause some social damages. Some of the threats are as following: prostitution, violence, drug addiction, criminality, suicidal behavior, vandalism, and alcoholism. Nowadays the threats connected with alcoholism are increasing. It is due to the advertisement and widespread availability 2. Alcohol abuse not only entails serious health and social issues but it also has detrimental effects on one’s emotions and socio-economic situation.

In this article I present the main assumptions and discuss issues of pedagogy as a science and the field of education during a special meeting of the Committee of the Academy of Pedagogical Sciences at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan. Over the last years, an increase has been observed in taking out from Poland of large amounts of refunded medicines, mainly those that save health and lives of patients, such as insulins, anti-asthmatics, antithrombotic and anti-cancer drugs. The uncontrolled taking out of these medicines has reached the level that cannot be socially acceptable, and that does not allow for providing patients with permanent access to important medical products. Pharmacies, instead of selling drugs to patients, sold them back to pharmaceutical wholesale companies. The latter, in turn, took them out on a massive scale to countries where they are much more expensive. Such a situation was an incentive for NIK to conduct a planned coordinated audit entitled “State Pharmaceutical Inspectorate’s performance of tasks set out in the Act: Pharmaceutical Law”.

This article tackles the issues associated with feudal science, which leads to the cultivation of pseudo-science, the creation of inadequate assessment criteria and inappropriate mechanisms in assisting the development of science. Some characteristic symptoms of this pathalogical system are presented and brought together as a coherent whole. Feudal science cannot be reformed, but must be replaced by a healthy system of funding and research management. The article elaborates on the condition of partial moral anomy in the academic environment, in Poland that not only weakens the ethical causal power of scientific staff, but also results in weakening social capital and also in pathologies in the process of scientific promotion. The narration has been subject to a metaphor of eggs (equivalent of types of scientific publications or a contradiction thereof) and their hatching in various types of hens breeding (scientific or pseudo academic schools) in order to sharpen the conditions and results of academic dishonesty and dysfunction and to notice problems in reviewing scientific degrees and titles’ dissertations.

Debiutancka powieść Zachara Prilepina Patologie to pierwsze pozycja literatury pięknej opisująca wojnę w Czeczenii, przy czym z perspektywy uczestnika wydarzeń. Główny bohater, Jegor Taszewski, to alter ego pisarza. Kompozycja utworu oparta jest na trzech liniach: wspomnieniach protagonisty z dzieciństwa, historii jego związku z ukochaną oraz opisie wydarzeń i przeżyć wojennych. W powieści rysuje się podwójny obraz świata, uzyskany nie tylko dzięki połączeniu obecnych zdarzeń ze reminiscencjami z czasów pokoju jako dwóch części życia jednego człowieka. Mamy tu do czynienia z kontrastem brutalności ze zmysłowością, sacrum  przeplata się z profanum, rozmowy o Bogu mieszają z opisami żołnierskich problemów żołądkowych. Celem artykułu jest pokazanie ambiwalencji świata w powieści, stawiającej w opozycji piękno i brzydotę, śmiech i powagę, życie i śmierć, wielkość i nikczemność.
The first novel by Zakhar Prilepin Pathologies is the first literary work describing the war in Chechnya, written by a participant in the events. The main character, Jegor Taszewski, is the alter ego of the writer. The composition of the book is based on three lines: the memories of the protagonist's childhood, the story of his relationship with his beloved Dasha, and the description of the events and experiences of war. A double image of the world, not only achieved by a combination of current events with reminiscences from the times of peace as two parts of the life of one man, is shown in the novel. We are dealing with a brutal contrast with sensuality, sacred mixes with profane, talks about God adjacent descriptions of soldier diarrhea. This article aims to show the ambivalence of the world in the novel, putting in opposition beauty and ugliness, laughter and seriousness, life and death, greatness and wickedness.
