Opis:
Ground reaction measurement in landing gear laboratory tests is used in order to gain knowledge about loads transferred to the aircraft structure. Ground reaction level is defined during aircraft design phase and it is required not to exceed limit value in real construction. Load from landing affect directly strength of aircraft structure especially mounting points what translates both strength of aircraft structure especially mounting points what translates both on safety and weight of the final design. Meeting the safety requirements is crucial in aviation regulations conformity. Landing gear ground reactions evaluation is performed during laboratory tests in order to meet the compliance with the ground load requirements assumed in design phase. Proper test method is crucial to prove the actual load. One of the methods is landing gear dynamic drop test where landing forces are measured. Force measurement is made in several ways according to test stand construction and test object specifics. In this article, three methods are described due to author’s experience in landing gear tests. Proposed techniques cover two direct and one indirect force measurements. Direct approach is based on strain gauge measurement principle. One is a strain gauge plate fixed to the ground while the second one is based on strain gauges attached to landing gear mounting nodes. Indirect approach is based on the acceleration of the tested object, which by definition is correlated with the force applied to the structure. Obtained test results allow determining the kinetic energy absorbed by landing gear during drop test. In this article author also presented numerical integration of the time history data and compared them with simulation results in order to show equivalence of all three of the test methods and to prove correctness of the test initial conditions determination.

There are a lot of ethical problems concerning the use of invasive methods for the measurement of a child’s body response to physical exercise and physical training. The alternative is are non-invasive methods like ergospirometry or NIRS. The article presents a measurement system dedicated for children endurance tests, composed of a few non-invasive measurement modules, including a temperature measurement module. Temperature is one of the factors determining the hemoglobin oxygenation, which in turn determines the physical exercise ability. The system was tested on a group of 15 healthy children 14-16 years old partaking in a ramp exercise test up to exhaustion. The test results are shown in the article.

Opis:
The aim of this paper is to formulate a new proposal for perception measurement on a linguistic scale coded with fuzzy numbers. Additionally, an attempt is made to show the assessment process of the adequacy of a linguistic scale. The basis for the proposal is the discussion of issues related to the ambiguity of the results of measurements made by means of a subjective type of measurement scales. The proposed assessment technique is relevant when the results of the measurement based on a linguistic scale are coded with numerical equivalents in the form of e.g. unconventional fuzzy numbers. The issue the subjective perception of the products' quality illustrates the objectivity level of measurement results. Subjective perception is measured with a specially designed IT tool allowing the respondent to determine all the characteristics of the resulting fuzzy numbers. The scale adequacy assessment tool is based on the Item Response Theory, and particulary so on the model devised by Georg Rasch. The measurement of socio-economic phenomena, including material and subjective wellbeing of households, the quality of households' durable goods, and the assessment of the quality of goods available on the market requires special tools. It seems that one of the most useful and powerful tools for the measurement of socio-economic phenomena is a linguistic scale. The problematic issue in the analysis presented in the paper is coding verbal terms with their numerical equivalents.

Opis:
Currently used procedures in room acoustics measurements are not automated. Particularly in medium-sized and large areas they require a lot of time and intensive labour which directly translates into an increase in the measurement cost. Introduction of an automated system would increase efficiency of the measurements, and therefore could present both practical and scientific benefit. The paper presents initial feasibility study for designing a system that permits the measurement of selected acoustic parameters for any choice of three-dimensional grid of measurement points throughout the volume of the room. The system will utilize an autonomous probe attached to a blimp, and will be able to measure and analyze acoustic characteristics of the rooms. The article discusses the initial choices of the system elements, starting from the general idea, through the mechanical design and control procedures, the software that controls positioning and flying of the probe, up to the automation of the measurement procedure and its possible impact on the acoustic field.

Opis:
The paper formulates some objections to the methods of evaluation of uncertainty in noise measurement which are presented in two standards: ISO 9612 (2009) and DIN 45641 (1990). In particular, it focuses on approximation of an equivalent sound level by a function which depends on the arithmetic average of sound levels. Depending on the nature of a random sample the exact value of the equivalent sound level may be significantly different from an approximate one, which might lead to erroneous estimation of the uncertainty of noise indicators. The article presents an analysis of this problem and the adequacy of the solution depending on the type of a random sample.

Opis:
The subject of the article is an attempt to determine the impact of the applied measurement strategy on the accuracy of the measurement result. This problem is particularly crucial when measuring large objects. In these cases, it is not always possible to provide ideal conditions for the submission of particular scans. It is necessary to adjust the strategy to specific imposed conditions defined by the geometry of the object and to the time frame of the measurement itself. With regard to the above, an attempt was made to carry out a series of accuracy studies testing the structural light scanner while measuring elements of overall dimensions greater than the measuring capacity of the scanner. At the same time, various potential measuring strategies were simulated in practical applications. Our studies were conducted using a pre-designed test template with a defined distribution pattern of reference points and geometrical elements. Moreover, in order to make an in-depth investigation of the issue, some trials were undertaken with the use of limiting parameters. That means the scanner had both an excess and shortage of information required for a correct assembly of scans. Those scopes were taken into consideration in the study in order to use the acquired knowledge in practical measuring applications. Furthermore, conclusions from the conducted studies indicate peaks and troughs of respective measuring strategies with special care for determining relationships among the used strategies and the measuring accuracy parameters.

Power systems that are highly loaded, especially by a stochastic supply of renew- ables and the presence of storages, require dynamic measurements for their optimal control. Phasor measurement units (PMUs) can be used to capture electrical parameters of a power system. Standards on the PMU dynamic performance have been modified to incorporate their new dynamic mode of operation. This paper examines the PMU dynamic performance and proposes essential algorithms for measurement accuracy verification. Measurements of dynamic input signals, which vary in amplitude or frequency, were taken during au- tomated tests of two PMUs. The test results are presented and expounded with further recommendation for the performance requirements. This paper also presents and examines applied testing procedures with relevance to the specifications of the IEEE Standard for Synchrophasor C37.118.1™-2011 and its amendment C37.118.1a™-2014.

Opis:
This study is concerned with how speakers of Polish refer to the number/size of objects and phenomena. They make use of the rich repertoire of units of measurement: a peculiar invention of human thought that meets the need to relate to quantities. Depending on the nature of the phenomena being measured or quantified, the methods of measurement being employed, cognitive needs, and communicative intentions, people use various kinds of measurement. These include conventional units of precise values, designed to measure specific values (e.g. sekunda ‘second’ to measure time), mainly used in professional (often international) communication, but also unconventional units of scientifically imprecise values, commonly used to relate to various parameters, e.g. names of body parts (garść orzechów ‘a handful of nuts’), names of containers (kubek herbaty ‘a mug/cup of tea’, tubka farby ‘a tube of paint’), names of units of substances (główka kapusty ‘a head of cabbage’, kromka chleba ‘a slice of bread’), names of parts (kawałek mięsa ‘a piece of meat’) or collections (góra kamieni ‘a heap of rocks’). Both sets of units are open-ended: they are enlarged as a result of linguistic processes (e.g. semantic and word-formational derivation) or non-linguistic ones (scientific and technological progress, which leads to ever more precise measurements).
W artykule ukazano, w jaki sposób użytkownicy polszczyzny określają ilość/wielkość obiektów i zjawisk. Są wśród nich zarówno tzw. konwencjonalne jednostki miary – o ściśle określonej wartości, służące do pomiaru określonej wielkości (np. sekunda do pomiaru czasu), stosowane w komunikacji przede wszystkim profesjonalnej (często międzynarodowej); jak też tzw. niekonwencjonalne jednostki miary – o mało precyzyjnej (z naukowego punktu widzenia) wartości, powszechnie używane do określania różnorodnych parametrów rzeczywistości, np. nazwy części ciała (garść orzechów), nazwy pojemników i opakowań (kubek herbaty, tubka farby), nazwy jednostek materii (główka kapusty, kromka chleba), nazwy części (kawałek mięsa), nazwy zbiorów (góra kamieni). Oba typy jednostek miary stanowią zbiór otwarty – powiększaniu ich zasobów sprzyjają zarówno procesy językowe (np. derywacji semantycznej i słowotwórczej), jak i pozajęzykowej (intensywny rozwój nauki i techniki, który prowadzi do zwiększania stopnia specjalizacji pomiarów).

Noise is a fundamental metrological characteristic of the instrument in surface topography measurement. Therefore, measurement noise should be thoroughly studied in practical measurement to understand instrument performance and optimize measurement strategy. This paper investigates the measurement noise at different measurement settings using structured illumination microscopy. The investigation shows that the measurement noise may scatter significantly among different measurement settings. Eliminating sample tilt, selecting low vertical scanning interval and high exposure time is helpful to reduce the measurement noise. In order to estimate the influence of noise on the measurement, an approach based on metrological characteristics is proposed. The paper provides a practical guide to understanding measurement noise in a wide range of applications.
