Otrzymano analityczne rozwiązanie zagadnienia przewodnictwa cieplnego i odpowiedniego zagadnienia quasi-statycznej termosprężystości dla układu tarciowego, złożonego z podłoża (półprzestrzeni) i ślizgającej się po jego powierzchni ze stałą prędkością warstwy. Dla pary tarciowej aluminium-stal zbadano ewolucję i rozkład po głębokości od powierzchni tarcia temperatur, strumieni cieplnych i przemieszczeń.
The analytical solution of a boundary-value problem of heat conductivity and corresponding boundary problem of thermoelasticity for tribosystem, consisting of semi-infinity substrate and sliding on its surface a layer is obtained. For materials of frictional pair aluminum-steel it is studied evolution and distribution on depth from a surface of friction of temperatures, thermal fluxes and thermoelastic displacements.

In the present discussion, the plane strain deformation due to laser pulse heating in a thermoelastic microelongated solid has been discussed. The analytic expressions for displacement component, force stress, temperature distribution and micro-elongation have been derived. The effect of pulse rise time and micro-elongation on the derived components have been depicted graphically.

The article is presented to enhance our knowledge about the propagation of Lamb waves in the layer of a viscoelastic transversely isotropic medium in the context of thermoelasticity with GN theory of type-II and III. Secular equations for symmetric and skew-symmetric modes of wave propagation in completely separate terms are derived. The amplitudes of displacements and temperature distribution were also obtained. Finally, the numerical solution was carried out for cobalt and the dispersion curves, amplitudes of displacements and temperature distribution for symmetric and skew-symmetric wave modes are presented to evince the effect of anisotropy. Some particular cases are also deduced.

The purpose of this paper is to study the two dimensional deformation due to an internal heat source in a thermoelastic microelongated solid. A mechanical force is applied along an overlaying elastic layer of thickness h. The normal mode analysis has been applied to obtain the exact expressions for the displacement component, force stress, temperature distribution and microelongation. The effect of the internal heat source on the displacement component, force stress, temperature distribution and microelongation has been depicted graphically for Green-Lindsay (GL) theory of thermoelasticity.

In this study an eigen value approach has been employed to examine the mechanical force applied along with a transverse magnetic field in a two dimensional generalized magneto micropolar thermoelastic infinite space. Results have been obtained by treating rotational velocity to be invariant. Integral transforms have been applied to solve the system of partial differential equations. Components of displacement, normal stress, tangential couple stress, temperature distribution, electric field and magnetic field have been obtained in the transformed domain. Finally numerical inversion technique has been used to invert the result in the physical domain. Graphical analysis has been done to described the study.

The paper is concerned with the propagation of plane waves in a transversely isotropic two temperature generalized thermoelastic solid half-space with voids and rotation. The governing equations are modified in the context of Lord and Shulman theory of generalized thermoelasticity and solved to show the existence of four plane waves in the x – z plane. Reflection of these plane waves from thermally insulated stress free surface is also studied to obtain a system of four non-homogeneous equations. For numerical computations of speed and reflection coefficients, a particular material is modelled as transversely isotropic generalized thermoelastic solid half-space. The speeds of plane waves are computed against the angle of propagation to observe the effects of two temperature and rotation. Reflection coefficients of various reflected waves are also computed against the angle of incidence to observe the effects of various parameters.

In this work, a compact form of different theories of thermoelasticity is considered. The governing equations for particle motion in a homogeneous isotropic thermoelastic medium are presented. Uniqueness and reciprocity theorems are proved. The plane wave propagation in a homogeneous isotropic thermoelastic medium is studied. For a three dimensional problem there exist four waves, namely a P-wave, two transverse waves (S1, S2) and a thermal wave (T). From the obtained results the different characteristics of waves such as the phase velocity and attenuation coefficient are computed numerically and presented graphically. Some special cases are also discussed.

The paper focuses on the mathematical and numerical modelling of the thermoelasticity problem in the three-dimensional region. The governing equations of the mathematical model are a set of equilibrium equations. The numerical model uses continuous Galerkin formulation together with the Finite Element Method (FEM). Both models are discussed in detail. The final set of FEM equations is derived. The example of numerical calculations obtained with the use of an original computer program is presented. The main goal of presented paper is to develop the alternative model to the one based on the Discontinuous Galerkin Method (DGM).

The presented paper is focused on the comparison of the Continuous and Discontinuous Galerkin Methods in terms of thermoelasticity for a cubic element. For this purpose, a numerical model of the phenomenon was built using both methods together with the Finite Element Method (FEM). The comparison of the results of numerical simulation obtained with the use of an original computer program based on the derived final set of FEM equations for both methods is presented.

The development of new techniques for the measurement of contact pressure distributions between bodies in contact is of large interest in mechanics, for the design and verify of many couplings between mechanical components. Examples are the contact between tooth of gears, between the balls and rings of ball bearings, between the wheel and rail etc. In this paper a new measurement technique is proposed, based on the measurement principle known as thermoelasticity. The particular case about the measurement of contact pressure distribution between a ball and a flat plate is discussed. Previous studies was performed in order to examine the contact surface between the two bodies realizing one of the two bodies in contact using an infrared transparent material, with appropriate values of the other mechanical properties. These studies were anyway only qualitative. In the present work, two calibration methodologies are proposed to obtain measures of contact surface stress between a ball and a flat. One of these methodologies is based on experimental test and the other one is based also on analytic results. The measured stress behaviours are in agreement with the classic Hertz theory; relative uncertainty is smaller than 0.1. This allows to obtain first quantitative results of contact pressure distribution by using thermoelasticity.

In this work the possibility to characterize mechanical components combining thermoelastic measurement technique (TSA) and digital image correlation (DIC) is studied. The combination of these two different methodologies allows to analyze thermo-mechanical characteristics of materials such as plastic and rubber, which are difficult to study with the only thermoelastic methodology. The digital image correlation allows to determinate the first invariant of deformation ε1, using a differential thermocamera. Lack of adiabatic conditions, essential for methodology use, makes analysis not simple. Digital image correlation allows to obtain the same information by correlating digital images acquired during static or dynamic deformationof an object, but with limitations linked to acquisition system. An accurate analysis is dedicated to the study of first invariant of deformation related to Young’s module variation, performed by load cycles with variable amplitude and displacement. Comparative analysis between the two measurement methodologies has been performed on rubber samples loaded by dynamic compression.

W pracy rozważamy zagadnienie Dirichleta dla równań teorii termosprężystości materiałów złożonych. Pokazaliśmy, że zagadnienie to generuje operator fredholmowski działający pomiędzy odpowiednimi przestrzeniami Sobolewa.
In this paper we study the Dirichlet problem for the system of equations describing non-simple thermoelasticity. Using the general theory of the elliptic problem we show that this problem is elliptic one.

Vibrations of non-periodic thermoelastic laminates, which can be treated as made of functionally graded material with macroscopic properties changing continuously along direction, x1, perpendicular to the laminas on the macrolevel are considered. Three models of these laminates are presented: the tolerance, the asymptotic-tolerance and the asymptotic. Governing equations of two first of them involve terms dependent of the microstructure size. Hence, these models (the tolerance, the asymptotic-tolerance) describe the effect of the microstructure. Averaged governing equations of these laminates can be obtained using the tolerance modelling technique, cf. Jędrysiak [1]. Because the model equations have functional, but slowly-varying coefficients calculations for examples can be made numerically or by using approximated methods.

The present paper deals with the thermoelastic plane waves due to a thermo-mechanical shock in the form of pulse at the boundary of a homogeneous, isotropic thermoelastic half-space. The field equations of the Green- Naugdhi theory without energy dissipation for an thermoelastic solid in the generalized thermoelasticity theory are written in the form of a vector-matrix differential equation using Laplace transform techniques and then solved by an eigenvalue approach. Exact expressions for the considered field variables are obtained and presented graphically for copper-like material. The characteristic features of the present theory are analyzed by comparing these solutions with their counterparts in other generalized thcrmoelasticity theories.

In this note the influence of temperature on vibrations of laminated layer made of two different materials is presented. The macroscopic properties of this layer are changing continuously along one direction x1, perpendicular to the laminas. To obtain the equations describing this problem, the tolerance averaging technique is used [1]. In this work, three models are proposed: the tolerance and the asymptotic-tolerance model, taking into account the effect of the microstructure size on the overall behaviour of this type of structures, and the asymptotic model, which equations omit this effect. To solve the equations of these three models the finite difference method is used.
