The purpose of the article is to present the results of empirical research concerning solutions used in the strategy implementation process by companies recognized as effective in achieving their strategic goals. Based on the results of the research, a model of improving the strategy implementation process was proposed. In the theoretical part the method of analysis and critical review of the literature was used. The technique used in the empirical study was PAPI. In order to investigate relationships, Cramer’s V coefficient was calculated. The main findings of the study allow us to conclude that there are some specific solutions from the following areas: organisational structure, communication and motivation, cooperation, implementation tools and methods, and control, which particularly effectively support the strategy implementation.

Purpose: Strategy determines the patterns of internationalization. The speed, scale, and scope of internationalization are important dimensions from the perspective of firms’ behaviors and activ ities. The aim of the article is to identify and verify the relationship between the international strategy and its impact on three dimensions of the studied phenomenon. Methodology: The article uses a quantitative approach. The survey was conducted on a sample of 355 internationalized firms from Poland, varying in size. Findings: The analysis with t test and U test (ANOVA) shows a correlation between a company’s international strategy as a planning instrument and the speed and scope of internationalization. Research limitations/implications: While considering a firm’s development, especially its inter national growth, one should plan the activities related to entering into foreign markets. The results presented in this article are just a starting point for further analyses. In an attempt to eliminate its limitations, further research should focus on building a comprehensive model that includes the remaining components of international strategy and other categories that stimulate international ization processes. Originality: The originality of this article lies in three elements: (i) the article comprehensively captures the scale, scope, and speed of internationalization at the same time, (ii) the strategy is introduced as a determining factor of the scale, scope, and speed of internationalization, and (iii) the article enriches empirical studies about emerging markets such as Poland.

Over the last decade, the concept of hybrid warfare has aroused great in-terest among the global community dealing with security issues, both military, and non-military. The specificity of hybrid warfare is that the fight is not for territories, but for the minds, and attitudes of citizens of other countries, and the means of combat are very sophisticated. Any hybrid war is based on a strategy that involves achievement victory by setting goals, overall plan and systematic impact on ene-my's vulnerabilities using a hybrid threat complex. In connection with the above, the aim of the article is to present the role of the strategy in waging hybrid war-fare, as well as in developing mechanisms to counteract hybrid threats.
W ciągu ostatniej dekady koncepcja wojny hybrydowej wzbudziła duże za-interesowanie światowej społeczności zajmującej się problematyką bezpieczeń-stwa, zarówno militarnego, jak i pozamilitarnego. Specyfika wojny hybrydowej polega na tym, że walka nie toczy się o terytoria, ale o umysły i postawy obywateli innych państw, a środki walki są bardzo wyrafinowane. Każda wojna hybrydowa opiera się na strategii, która zakłada osiągnięcie zwycięstwa poprzez wyznaczanie celów, ogólny plan i systematyczne oddziaływanie na podatności wroga przy uży-ciu kompleksu zagrożeń hybrydowych. W związku z powyższym, celem artykułu jest przedstawienie roli jaką pełni strategia w prowadzeniu wojny hybrydowej, a także w opracowaniu mechanizmów przeciwdziałania zagrożeniom hybrydowym.

The aim of this study is to determine the recognition and awareness of systemic strategies within the realm of practical business operations at three different levels of the organizational hierarchy. Two research hypotheses have been formulated. H1: The implemented strategy will be described as systemic. H2: Employees will assert the implementation of strategies through a systemic approach. The hypotheses were tested using a questionnaire survey administered to a convenience sample of postgraduate/post-diploma working students associated with sales functions. The survey included 1,400 respondents, divided into a pre-pandemic sample of 1,050 individuals and a post-pandemic sample of 350 individuals. A combination of traditional paper questionnaires and computer-assisted telephone interviews (CATI) was used to collect responses. The analysis of the survey responses reveals that the respondents from both the 2019 and 2022 cohorts do not affirm the existence of systemic strategies within their respective organizations. Furthermore, they do not claim that these strategies are implemented from a systemic perspective.

The paper presents the results of an empirical study of the impact of strategy and logistics on company performance and of the role of logistics in mediating the impact of strategy on performance. The research revealed that companies pursuing differentiation strategy demonstrate better performance and higher internal and external integration of the management of material and related to them flows. The results proved that logistics measured with definite practices plays a role in mediating the impact of differentiation strategy on competitiveness. In particular, the practices that reflect the positive influence of differentiation strategy on competitiveness are: developing technological capabilities for the management of logistics activities and for information sharing between supply chain members; practices related mainly to communication and relational issues; and achieving greater integration within the company and in the supply chain as well.

Opis:
Electronic systems work in different conditions of exploitation. Because of specific nature of their application (such as transport for example), they should be characterized by a high level of coefficient of the readiness. When carrying out a proper reliability analysis of systems can be determined such reliability structures, which will be characterized by the appropriate values of rates of reliability. Such an approach provides to improvement of the reliability of the designed systems. However not to the full extent, it is not possible to achieve the system's readiness at the appropriately high level to the full extent. The paper presents a methodology to optimize the process of exploitation these systems, taking into account economic conditions, such as of financial expenses designed on periodical reviews and the effectiveness of their use. There is presented the dependence that maximizes the value of the coefficient of the readiness in the defined reliability (failures rate), exploitation (intensity of repairs, intensity of maintenance service) and economic conditions (financial outlays earmarked for periodic inspections).

It seems obvious that 10th century was a period in which the Byzantine polemology flourished once again, before it collapsed one hundred years later. During that period numerous authors of Byzantine military treaties instructed imperial commanders how to wage war. Among many issues organization of the campaign was always an important aspect. In this paper I will try to clarify selected problems. First, I will try to specify what the soldiers ate on a daily basis. Next, I will determine to what extent the provisioning system met the expectations and needs of the Byzantines fighting for the empire. With the help of Tactica and Sylloge Tacticorum, I will try to explain how the rations were gathered, transported and protected. Finally, I will specify how the supplies were utilized not only as a means of nourishment, but also as a tool of war. The following research was carried out on the basis of military treaties from the 10th century, since this time was the peak of Byzantine military revival. Although I mainly base my research on the work of Leon the Wise and the anonymous treaty known as Sylloge Tacticorum, I also occasionally refer to other works, such as Peri Strategias, De velitatione and Praecepta Militaria.

Practical knowledge and experience of engineers, CNC programmers, operators related to the implementation of production tasks in the workshop are essential. Every day, developed, perfected for companies specialty, “technological knowledge base “, is a specific, dedicated to the particular conditions of the key to success – the “know -how “in the concrete conditions of production. This knowledge can be relatively easily processed and developed, in particular with regard to the development of technology in the CAM. Additionally subjected to simulation analysis allows comparison of different strategies and variations of part in the design of technology. Several years of authors experience in the analysis of the work ‘s CAM systems in many companies has enabled the formulation of universal principles of numerical simulations that take into account the individual characteristics of the workpiece and the specificity of the selected CNC machine with accessories. Conducted research on the production based on Catia V5 program and Mastercam X6 confirmed the validity of this approach and helped to correcting some of the assumptions developed algorithm.

The paper concerns the basic methododlical issues of defining and measuring the impact of strategy and logistics on companies' performance. The literature review reveals a lack of empirical research on the relationship between generic strategies like cost leadership and differentiation, the extent of use of integrative logistics practices and performance. A conceptual framework is proposed for assessing the relationships between the three variables outlining their dimensions and content. It is concluded that the key to competitive success is to choose the appropriate strategy and develop the corresponding logistics capabilities including the management capability to consolidate knowledge and skills in the supply chain. Three hepotheses are raised and the models undelying them are discussed. Some recommendations are made in relation to the methods used for testing the hypotheses. The framework is a basis for conducting an empirical study on the role of logistics in mediating the impact of strategy on performance.

Many documents produced by the EU, including the Europe 2020 Strategy, advocate the assumption that the European Union member states will strive to achieve sustainable development, which therefore needs to be measured with comparable parameters. The research objective was to evaluate sustainable growth indicators in Poland against the background of the same indicators in the European Union, and to ‘estimate’ chances to achieve the objectives set in the Europe 2020 Strategy. Two hypotheses were put forward in the study: a large number of indicators analysed by the Main Statistical Office in Poland allows forecasting the achievement of Poland’s objectives adopted in the Strategy; the most difficult to achieve will be the goal of financing research and development. In Poland, not all the changes were beneficial. The EU as a whole has the chance to approximate to the set value of the indicators. Both hypotheses were verified.
Wiele dokumentów opracowanych przez UE, w tym strategia „Europa 2020”, opowiada się za założeniem, że państwa członkowskie Unii Europejskiej będą dążyć do osiągnięcia zrównoważonego rozwoju, który w związku z tym należy mierzyć za pomocą porównywalnych parametrów. Celem badań była ocena wskaźników zrównoważonego wzrostu w Polsce na tle tych samych wskaźników w Unii Europejskiej oraz „oszacowanie” szans na osiągnięcie celów określonych w strategii „Europa 2020”. W badaniu wysunięto dwie hipotezy: duża liczba wskaźników analizowanych przez Główny Urząd Statystyczny w Polsce (GUS) pozwala prognozować realizację celów Polski przyjętych w strategii. Najtrudniejszy do osiągnięcia będzie cel finansowania badań i rozwoju. W Polsce nie wszystkie zmiany były korzystne. UE jako całość ma szansę zbliżyć się do ustalonej wartości wskaźników. Obie hipotezy zostały zweryfikowane.

The phrase ‘rural areas’ mean not only the place for agricultural production and the living place of rural population, but also refer to all the traditions, landscape, environment and residents of these areas. Rural development is highly supported at the EU level and it helps to enhance the quality of life of rural residents and the economic performance of rural areas. According to some points of view, the excessive support should be cut down, but the primary objectives of the CAP should be maintained. The threats of the economic crisis appear more significantly in rural areas. What are the possible ways to increase the economic situation of these areas, where poverty is high, education level is low and the population is aging? Working facilities are mostly connected with agriculture, but the financial background and competitiveness of agricultural enterprises is rather low. The environment and landscape should be preserved. How can all these problems be solved at the same time? How can the environment be preserved in line with the development of the rural areas? The renewed CAP was outlined in November 2010. This paper tries to examine the visions of rural areas for the future.

In the condition of Romanian economy and not only in this case the elaboration of market strategy within the framework of a company holds a particularly place in the elaboration of development strategy of respective company. The company development strategies which conduct to the realization of its directives constitute a responsibility of company management alongside of its performance indicators establishment. The market strategy represents a general strategy component of company development, being known that its formulation represents the central point of marketing programming. The company aiming the study target of this paper is named ECO INVEST LTD with headquarters in Deva-Romania and it has as principal activity object the wholesale and retail merchandising of constructions materials. In carrying on its activity the company used various strategies, namely: maintenance strategy, differentiated strategy, passive strategy, high demands strategy and defensive strategy. These strategies weren’t in concordance with economic environment in which the company takes action the fact which imposes their modification for positioning the company on a new line in the market. The proposed strategies for the company will point the adoption of increasing strategy for obtaining an ascending trend of sales volume, a differentiated strategy so that it would concentrate on the segment of great-scale consumers, an active strategy adapted to the changes of surrounding environment and an offensive strategy by which the company will conquer a new position as part of the market.
W warunkach gospodarki rumuńskiej i nie tylko w tym przypadku, opracowanie strategii rynkowej w ramach spółki zajmuje szczególne miejsce w opracowaniu strategii rozwoju danego przedsiębiorstwa. Strategie rozwoju firmy, które prowadzą do realizacji jej wytycznych, wraz z ustanowienia wskaźników jego wykonania stanowią odpowiedzialność kierownictwa firmy. Strategia rynkowa stanowi element ogólnej strategii rozwoju firmy i jest wiadomym, że jego sformułowanie stanowi centralny punkt planowania marketingowego. Firma będąca celem badań niniejszej pracy nazywa się ECO INVEST LTD z siedzibą w Deva-Rumunia, a główny obiekt jej działalności to hurtowa i detaliczna sprzedaż materiałów konstrukcyjnych. W prowadzeniu swojej działalności firma wykorzystała różne strategie, a mianowicie: strategia konserwacji, zróżnicowana strategia, strategia pasywna, strategia wysokich wymagań i strategia obronna. Strategie te nie były zgodne ze środowiskiem gospodarczym, w którym firma podejmuje działania, a fakt, który narzuca ich modyfikację to pozycjonowanie firmy w nowej linii w rynku. Proponowane strategie firmy wskażą przyjęcie strategii wzrostu w celu uzyskiwania tendencji rosnącej wielkości sprzedaży, strategii zróżnicowanej, która będzie koncentrować się na segmencie klientów większej skali, aktywnej strategii dostosowanej do zmian otaczającego środowiska i ofensywnej strategii, za pomocą której firma będzie zdobędzie nowe stanowisko na rynku.

The methodological bases for identifying the level of diversification of an enterprise's activities are formulated on the basis of a three-dimensional indicator that allows taking into account the triune nature of diversification as a diversity of the enterprise's resource portfolio (“inputs” into the enterprise system), formalization of its activities (“processor” of the system), and achieved (expected) results (“outputs”) from the system). On the example of a group of Ukrainian enterprises of firefighting services, a developed system of economic metrics for diversifying their activities is presented, which is based on two concepts – a balanced scorecard (BSC) and economic management using the method of interval values. Based on the proposed idea of three-dimensionality of diversification by applying the methodology of morphological analysis, substrategies of diversification of the enterprise's activities are modeled and the results of practical testing of the development of a diversification strategy for the group of enterprises selected for study are presented.

All the papers deal with the problem of homogenous narratives and homogenous practices, which most often falsify the complex reality of the human world. Nowadays, trade is shifting mainly to virtual reality. Increasingly more customers, using various types of mobile devices such as computers, smartphones, tablets, look for products and services in online stores, counting on fast, convenient and efficient fulfilment of the order. To meet the customers’ requirements, trade enterprises may implement the omnichannel strategy as a way to streamline the entire sales and distribution system of goods from the store to the customer, ensuring the possibility of continuous monitoring transactions. The paper examines the development of omnichannel strategy by the Polish small and medium enterprises. The underlying assumption of the paper is to identify to what extent the Polish companies concentrate on omnichannel strategy in the functioning of their business. The discussion is based on the results of the study obtained from the CAWI survey, CATI survey, and the in-depth interview conducted among the group of Polish MSMEs in Silesian Voivodeship.

The fact that the production and the use of a nuclear weapon during the World War II began a new chapter in both the development of military technology and views on the preparation and conduct of a war. Creators and supporters of the atomic bomb quickly realized that it was too powerful to force it into the framework of existing doctrines. Therefore, it proved necessary to look for other solutions as the basis for a new type of a strategy. It was expected that this would be the political-military "containment" strategy introduced in the late 1940s. This, becoming the cornerstone of the US foreign policy, treated the nuclear arsenal as the most convenient and sometimes the only tool of deterrence of the Soviet Union. In the military dimension, as a derivative of the contradictory nuclear strategy of the Truman’s administration, it did not give up the bombing of cities but through deterrence and assurance of the security of allies in Europe it proposed a quick and massive nuclear attack.

At the present time, with continuous market changes, customer satisfaction and meeting the needs of employees are the most important factors for building managerial systems and implementing of the strategy in many companies. The goal of this paper is to develop a multi-faced knowledge management-based strategy combining analytical and qualitative methods and processes for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) that managers can use to achieve strategic performance goals in their organizations. Various methods with the currently used modern technologies and a developed organizational culture make up the knowledge management system as a method inspired by the leadership, focused primarily on customer satisfaction and meeting the needs of employees. A multi-faced approach for building knowledge management-based strategy in small and medium companies is developed. It is based on practical experience and a research literature background incorporating implemented technologies and tools in quality environment with the usage of knowledge management. This research depicts a proposal of knowledge management-based strategy as a response to the lack of studies that address the knowledge management in building strategy in SME. Furthermore, this approach enhances the existing literature, giving insight in the collection of current business models.

The paper seeks to determine how China’s armed forces try to create a favorable strategic posture with more emphasis on the employment of military forces and means, and provide a solid security guarantee for the country’s peaceful development, in response to the new requirement of safeguarding national security and development interests. Potential, evolution, and trends of basic Services: Army; Air Force; Navy and the most crucial aspects of nuclear potential has been presented. Problems related to the cyber space domain, as the new era of information warfare are discussed by the view of building unique capabilities. PRC openly identifying information assets as a key to winning contemporary wars. Particularly, the People’s Liberation Army (PLA), aiming at building modern forces and winning an informationalized war, deepens its reform, dedicates itself to innovation, improves its quality and actively pushes forward the revolution in military affairs. Chinese strategy, operational art and doctrine reflect the desire and need for a holistic approach to national security, utilizing the entirety of national resources. Multidimensional coordination, a PLA principle of warfare, illustrates this holistic approach by stressing that military and nonmilitary entities should work in concert towards common objectives. Multidimensional coordination occurs at and between all levels of war, includes strategic resources and instruments of power and efforts to shape the environment. The paper underlines also shift from joint operations to integrated joint operations. Chinese military experts perceive it as the basic approach in order to meet the requirements of confrontation between war systems in modern warfare. Integrated joint operations are designed to bring the operational strengths of different Services and arms into full play, combine offensive operations with defensive ones, and give priority to the flexible application of strategies and tactics.

Inquiry into the origins, essence and meaning of the term strategy dates back to the sixth century BC. Since then there has been an attempt to understand and explain its meaning and specify the place in the system of concepts. History shows that views have changed with the development of social relations, economic development and technological progress. Strategy in its original meaning was the field of martial arts, superior to the others and one of the oldest. Over the decades, it has become a discipline or specialty of martial science, and military science later. The term strategy is currently used in many areas of political, social and economic life. A particular variation is its security strategy, which includes the creation, preparation and use of state capacity to counter any threat to its existence and development. The author analyzes the evolution of Polish strategic thought in shaping national security in turn of the XX and XXI century.

Purpose: The purpose of this work is to presents the concept of innovation and its function in an enterprise. The sources and types of innovations have been described in this work. Innovation strategies used in enterprises were also presented. Design/methodology/approach: Due to the cognitive nature of the article, the aim of the work will be achieved using the method of analyzing the literature on the subject. Literature studies include Polish and foreign publications. Findings: Innovations are a multi-faceted concept and relate to various areas of a company’s operation – products, distribution channels, business processes, service methods, relationship with business partners, marketing and strategic alliances, etc. Nowadays, innovations are the most compelling way to gain a competitive advantage in the market. Innovation strategy depends on the type and size of the enterprise, as well as a company’s financial capabilities. Thanks to financing innovative activities, a company has a chance to achieve long-term growth. In today’s world, it is difficult to survive without innovations. Innovative enterprises have become the driving force of the economy. Originality/value: The article is a review of the literature on innovation. This work can help entrepreneurs who want to innovate their companies and achieve long-term growth. Managers can choose the optimal innovation strategy appropriate for the enterprise.

L2 learners may try to pick up the unknown word’s meaning from a dictionary. Many different factors, such as how important the meaning of the word is in the passage, the number of unknown words, and the reason the students are working on it, etc., affect the frequency of the student’s use of the dictionary for help. However, trying to guess the meaning of the unknown word from the context before consulting a dictionary is more beneficial since this may help the learners to pick the correct meaning relevant to the text. Using a dictionary should be limited to those unguessable words whose meanings can hinder the learner’s understanding.

The Olympic Games has become a unique occasion to implement several projects aimed at upgrading public infrastructure and improving the economic performance of the host city. Thus, some cities are so determined to host the Olympics that they decide to bid multiple times. One of the examples of such a city is Paris, which since the 2000s has submitted its bids three times, for 2008, 2012, and 2024, of which the last attempt turned out to be successful. Based on the above, the main aim of this article is to present the trajectory of changes and developments made by the three successive bid attempts, with an emphasis on the latest successful campaign. This study demonstrates that there are some recurrent ideas, projects, and plans shared by each bid with some modifications to emphasize their uniqueness, novelty, and up-to-date approach. In some aspects, the Paris 2024 bid builds on its previous candidature from 2012 in the field of long-term legacy effects and sustainability. Therefore, there is a consistent action taken by the bid managers and city authorities in terms of using the Olympic Games as a tool for urban regeneration and sports development.

At present, one of the main areas ensuring the proper functioning of services responsible for security is ICT systems, which are used to obtain, store and process relevant information and to support the performance of statutory tasks. When carrying out their statutory tasks, the Polish police use centralised, advanced IT systems and databases, e.g. the National Police Information System (hereinafter referred to as the KSIP). At the same time, the development of technology generates the need to constantly modify this line of activity. The necessity of being adaptable to the ever-changing environment has encouraged the Police Academy in Szczytno and its partners to launch the project entitled: Information and analysis system to support risk management when planning and carrying out police operations (hereinafter referred to as the SIA). Innovative in nature, the project is being implemented based on, among others, expert interviews conducted among police commanding officers. The SIA is being built using the data collected and stored in the police ICT systems and obtained from other sources. The works will result in the development of a possibly full application with planning and decision-making mechanisms and forecasting algorithms, which will provide information on probable successes and necessary investments in possible scenarios of police activities to be undertaken in a specific situation of massive disturbance to public order and safety. The proposed solution is the IT system that serves both as a presentation and simulation of possible incidents in the virtual environment. The author presents the functioning of selected modern ICT systems, and their role and importance in supporting decision-making processes when ensuring public order and safety.

High Yield Investment Programs (HYIPs) are online versions of a Ponzi scheme, a fraud that offers extremely high interest rates to attract investors – and pays them up to the moment when HYIP owner decides to run away with the money accumulated in the account. This article presents a simulation focused on the connections between investments in appealing websites, advertising, and run- away strategies to explore and describe one of the grey zone areas. The model is based to a large extent on real-life data acquired from HYIP monitors. In this paper, we have proven that advertising and layout have a great impact on an HYIP’s balance. Moreover, most HYIPs are capable of gaining similar balance; however, there are also conservative strategies that significantly reduce profits.

The article omits the role of the Krakow Festival Office in the Krakow cultural system. Krakow Festival Office is the institution which organizational profile and a kind of proposed cultural events is quite different from the traditional cultural institutions that have been characterized so far. Krakow Festival Office implements projects that are far broader and far more expensive than other institutions. It is difficult not to notice that Krakow Festival Office is privileged when considering international cultural projects in the Strategy of Culture Development in Krakow. Theatres and exhibition institutions have some chances for growth considering the statements in the Strategy. However the situation of libraries and cultural houses ma get worse. The strength of cultural institutions lies also in the strength of cultural houses and libraries. It seems though that the authors of the Strategy neglect the role of institutions mentioned above in the social capital building. Reading the Strategy of Culture Development in Cracow one may have justifies doubts whether the interests of the local citizens are sufficiently taken care of. It seems that the Strategy centrates more on promotional marketing for the Krakow brand and ess on the cultural needs of Krakow’s citizens. Both directions of cultural policy do not exclude each other. The proper research on the needs of Krakow’s citizens is missing. Thus it is difficult to rationalize the spending on culture in Krakow including the need of Krakow’s citizens as well as the investment in the promotion of culture in Krakow in the international area.

It also identi-fies the factors hindering the implementation of this strategy and the mechanisms for attracting investment in innovation. Additionally, it examines the statistical data on the implementation of the concept of sustainable development both among Ukrainian and foreign senterprises. The methodology of this study consists of general and special re-search methods: including analysis, synthesis, and systematization.

Subject and purpose of work: This article aims to better understand China’s actions and challenges encountered in sustainable development due to the COVID-19 crisis, economic difficulties, and the war between Russia and Ukraine. It also aims to provide valuable recommendations for China or other countries concerning future sustainable development work. Materials and methods: We reviewed extensive literature and made a policy content analysis as the research methodology. Results: We concluded that China has put emphasis on sustainable development since ancient times. China has made notable progress in sustainable development both domestically inside China and worldwide. However, China also faces challenges related to sustainable development within China itself. Conclusions: Although China has launched effective policies that have received positive feedback, there is still a long way to go to achieve truly sustainable development. We suggest that all countries, regions, and individuals take a joint action in order to achieve a sustainable planet for us and future generations.

Students' autonomy in learning is becoming more important in education. An ethnographic research study was conducted on institutional strategies for student autonomy in secondary schools in China, having found a paradoxical issue that is the "quality education" in the curriculum and teaching for testing system in China's secondary schools. We propose developing students' autonomy to resolve this paradoxical issue. Schools are applying some strategies in developing students' autonomy, such as strict schedules and motivating students in learning. Although these strategies may increase students' willingness to learn to some extent, the drawbacks are obvious. Schools need to adopt other strategies to develop students' autonomy to a higher level.

The subject of considerations are organizational determinants the effectiveness of the development projects. Special attention is paid to increasing activeness of members of the organization, whose informal knowledge on causes of problems may supplement the information processed in the development project. The objective is to identify factors dependent on organization, which influence the effectiveness of project initiated in the event of a development gap. Methodology: System analysis is used to a set of alternative patterns of arrangement of selected aspects of the project. Examined is functional compatibility of patterns with the basic patterns of response to real or potential problems: prevention, correction and/or containment of the impact of the problem. In the analysis is used a general model "MSISI" development project and a model of problems cleaner. Findings: A system of basic factors is distinguished, which determine the terms of cooperation with the project team. It is shown that the choice of a strategy for development based on prevention or correction predetermines the choice of patterns of arranging cooperation of people with the project team, if the project is to be effective. Originality/value: The text enhances the understanding of the conditions that are shaping the readiness of people to cooperate actively in the implementation of development projects and creating an environment supportive for improvement.

But the activity of young people in local and regional life depends on the commitment of local authorities to provide appropriate instruments to enable them to take action. If young people have the right tools and enjoy the appropriate conditions for getting involved, they are able to realize a number of innovative projects noticeable even abroad. At a time when young people have a sense of real possibility to change their immediate environment, they are getting even more involved in the public life of their region.

Purpose: This study attempts to make a contribution to theory by disentangling the concept of creating shared value (CSV)from corporate social responsibility (CSR). In doing so, the study provides a preliminary outline for CSV analysis.Approach: This study is conceptual in character. It is based on a review of literature on CSR and CSV and adopts the perspective of economic and social value creation.Findings: The findings show that 1) CSR comes down to sharing the economic value created in order to build social value and 2) CSV is the process of change of the relation between a firm’s outcomes and inputs that generates social value. In other words, it comes down to economic value creation through crea ting social value.Originality: This study provides arguments revealing that understanding the differences between the notions of CSV and CSR, reqnires adopting the concepts of economic and social value. The study therefore bridges the gap in theory in this respect and outlines a preliminary conceptual basis for CSV analysis. It is expected that the findings of this study will serve as a reliable basis for further discussion and CSV concept development.

Cities implement the path of adjustments to the changing global economy which does not destabilize their economy, but expands opportunities for development. Changes in the concept of a city concern all zones of its functioning: internal structure, sources of income, development model, competitiveness and contact with the environment. Selecting the concept for development is not easy and it depends on numerous conditions. However, some priorities and development assumptions are common to all approaches. Cities in a long-term perspective are supposed to aim at: efficient and multilevel management, smart city, compactness, openness, responsiveness to the needs and ensuring high quality of life to all groups of users. Under conditions of significant changeability of the modern economy the determination of a long-term concept for a city should be related to the maintenance of flexibility and process operations, and not only a point response to a given situation.

The term 'Indo-Pacific', while mingling the Indian and the Pacific Ocean geopolitics in the 21st century, also attempts to integrate India with the Pacific region geopolitically. India has increasingly integrated economically with the Pacific world since the unveiling of her Look East Policy in 1994, rechristened as the Act East Policy in 2014. Growing hostility between the country and China compelled India to turn to the 'contain China' approach in the Pacific region, which is the cradle of Chinese naval prowess. However, India's deficient naval strength with its focus on the Indian Ocean and her land-oriented security priority amid Chinese and Pakistani threats are major handicaps to India's geo-strategic aspirations in the Pacific region vis-à-vis China's rise. Therefore, India, unable to pursue an offensive realist approach to contain China in the Pacific, has opted for a 'balance of threat' approach, forming alliances with the China-wary countries of the Pacific region, albeit only informally, in order to avoid Chinese retribution.

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship between sustainable performance and risk management, whereby sustainability (innovation), interdisciplinarity and leadership give new insights into the traditional perspectives on performance and risk management in the field of accounting and finance. DESIGN/METHOD: A number of 58 cases were collected. Due to the substantiated selection, 51 unique cases were used for the data analysis. Using the cases, the researchers built a database with fixed observation categories to operationalize the theoretical framework. This database contains data on widespread characteristics of an organization, strategic characteristics (mission, vision, value proposition, core values from the Balanced Score Card categories, and strategic goals), strategy characteristics of the sustainability strategies, the 17 sustainability goals of the UN, risks (from the COSO Integrated framework: strategic, financial, operational) and control measures appropriate to the risks. RESULTS/FINDINGS: The empirical research shows that if organizations have a mission and/or vision that includes sustainability, in more than half of the cases it is used in strategic goals and core values. However, this is far from happening in every organization. These organizations more often apply a sustainability strategy, and all pursue SDGs. It therefore seems that they use sustainable terms less often in the management of the company than they use in practice in the execution of the strategy. This pattern is evenstronger among organizations that have not included sustainability criteria in the mission and/or vision: 60% pursue a sustainability strategy and three quarters pursue SDGs. Organizations that do not pursue a sustainability strategy do pay attention to sustainability in almost half of the cases when managing the organization. Conversely, unfortunately, not every organization that implements a sustainability strategy also propagates this via its mission/vision, strategic goals, and core values. ORIGINALITY/VALUE: Researchers have investigated (part 1) whether implementing a sustainability criterion in a mission/vision has consequences for managing the organization based on sustainable strategic goals and core values; and (part 2) if a company pursues SDGs and/or a sustainability strategy, sustainability criteria are mentioned in the strategic characteristics.

Inadequate supply of public electricity in Nigeria has affected the productivity of many manufacturing industries. Electric generating plant is being used as a standby supplement to public electricity at outage hours. The high cost of running and maintenance of this generating plant has adversely affected the sustainability of the industry. A maintenance strategic switching approach was developed to minimize the cost of running the electric generating plant in the industries. Maintenance strategic switching and cost control parameters are preventive, repair/corrective and replacement. The maintenance cycle for each of the components served as tool for the determination of cumulative sum of maintenance cost from which the minimum cost schedule was selected. Data collected on power machinery from a water generating company was used to test the model. The least probability of failure (non-progressive deterioration) for components was recommended for adoption. There was a significant saving in maintenance cost of components under the non-progressive deterioration. In the 750 schedule, while the cost of maintenance with progressive deterioration was N149, 677, that of non-progressive, least failure probability was N75, 960.35 with savings of 49.25% over the former. Therefore, most economic schedule was 750 cycles. This scheme predicted for the organization the optimal maintenance strategy to utilize.

Although the subject of synergy has been explored for a long time, there are many indications that it is still gaining in importance, in the field of economics. The phenomenon of synergy seems particularly important in the field of M&A’s, alliances and the development of new organizational forms of enterprises. Synergy effects are most often evaluated from the operational and very rarely in the strategic, structural perspectives. The aim of the article is to identify and systematize the most important perspectives for synergy effect evaluation in the process of strategic analysis. The identified perspectives will be the starting point of the further research on criteria selection for synergy effects evaluation and will be one of the components of a more complex framework of the process of resource analysis. The research was conceptual, based on a literature review in the fields of methodology of strategic analysis, strategic management and Resource-Based View (RBV) approach. The identification of the structural conditions for synergy effect evaluation, requires focusing on: the subjective scope of the synergy effect analysis, key areas of strategy content and context, with the important role of strategic resources.

The article is focused upon the challenges of the political discourse translation methodology. The overview of the key works in the field of theory and practice of translation has allowed to distinguish the correlation between the stylistic peculiarities and translation strategy, tactics and operations. It has been outlined that challenges for adequate political discourse translation are evoked by genre discrepancy, the issue of the rendering such peculiar vocabulary items as realia, nationally colored phraseological unities and fusions, as well as proverbs and sayings. The objective of the research is seen as the search of efficient methods and techniques aimed at optimizing the quality of political discourse translation in the paradigm of the communicative and functional approach. The urgency of the study is proved by the growing demand for the qualified political discourse translation both on the external international and internal domestic policy levels. The criterion of the trustworthiness and political tolerance is especially upto-date in the view of the recent political situation in the world in general and in Ukraine in particular. The role of the qualified political discourse translation for the political future of Ukraine can’t be overestimated. The mission of translators and their duty is to perform adequate, faithful and qualified translation of all sort of political speeches, disputes, negotiations and agendas from Ukrainian into English and other foreign languages to give the world the idea of the essence of both social and political life in the country. The power of speech and language means is sometimes stronger than the power of weapon. The findings of the research may be of great value for future translators training and self-education. The perspective is seen in working out the methodology of publicist and scientific discourses translation in the aspect of the globalization of Ukrainian culture and science international distribution.

The catalogue of threats which currently exist in the national security environment and may occur in the future is constantly growing. These phenomena are characterized by diversity, intensity, as well as unpredictability of the scale and consequences of their occurrence. The diversity of threats results from the fact that they are a consequence of mutually interacting political, military, economic and social, demographic and environmental processes and phenomena. Their character causes that they increasingly often lead to the occurrence of a crisis situation, and thus to the disruption of the normal functioning of the state. The article attempts to analyze the specific determinants of national security.

Understanding and promoting the CSR is an important societal issue, and circumstances force modern-minded management to abandon the classical model of only the necessary fulfilment of legally set obligations. There has been a lot of study done on employee perceptions of CSR in the workplace, but very little has been done on how employees comprehend CSR and how they received it at their work-place in chosen countries. Research was carried out based on a questionnaire survey with data collection from September 2020 to March 2021, with a total of 1103 respondents. The aim of the article is to describe the CSR concept among employees meaning in selected countries: Zimbwabwe, Czech Republic, Poland. The measuring instrument used in the study was the questionnaire method, in which the research tool is a questionnaire CAWI - Computer Assisted Web Interview. It was shown that enterprises apply CSR activities, but they are not fully aware of the CSR benefits.

In order to develop a reasonable negotiation strategy, it is necessary to rely on strategic management principles and techniques. This article examines the issues on the application of strategic management theory in negotiations. The article presents an overview of strategic management science researches, are presented scientific positions on the substance of strategic management process, its structure, and prospects for studies in this area. In the article, there are examined worldwide scientific approaches to strategic management and different schools of strategic management. A survey of the key provisions of strategic management schools showed that not all of them may be useful in practice of negotiations. However, merging and adapting their individual elements for specific cases can be an excellent tool for strategic analysis of the negotiating situation, but also for development and implementation of negotiation strategy. The most applicable theories of strategic management in preparing and implementing of negotiation strategy seem to be the ones developed by the following schools: Entrepreneurial, Cognitive learning, Environmental and Power. Considering theincreasing internationalization of negotiations there are important theoretical and practical concepts of strategic management culture school. This paper will provide an overview of the main theoretical perspectives on strategic management of negotiations.

The purpose of the presented study was to identify the effect of using the e-mind maps strategy at the academic achievement level in learning Arabic vocabulary skills among six-grade primary male students in Iben Al-Atheer School for Intermediate Education in Kuwait in the 2017/2018 school year. The sample of the study consisted of 60 male students, equally divided into two groups, experimental and control ones. The result of the study indicated that there were statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the experimental group and the control one in the post achievement level test scale in favor of the experimental group. The effect size of using mind maps was high. There were statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the experimental and control group scores in the post achievement test of the Arabic vocabulary learning in favor of the experimental group. The study concludes with recommendations for future mind-mapping in other contexts.

Strategic planning and development is a critical yet often overlooked issue in company's operations. The planning of development as well as addressing the distribution of available resources should be done systematically rather than instinctively however, many companies still do not have any reliable method that would facilitate the decision making processes at their disposal. This article aims at presenting the innovative analytical method- Balanced Critical Factor Index (BCFI) for addressing the need for change in company's operational strategy according to changes in available technology and knowledge. By examining a wide array of indexes, the presented method is expected to suggest the directions of development. The presented method also addresses the challenges of the complex process of decision-making. Moreover, the empirical evidence gathered in the studied case company serves as a source of important feedback regarding the further improvement of the BCFI method.

Electric utilities are of key importance for the national economy. Many research institutions deal with issues of the power sector to find an answer to the question, which of the developed strategies to ensure energy security of the country should be taken into account? Should the companies adopt the strategy of adaptation or perhaps the strategy of breakthrough? If they follow the adaptation course, should it be a passive or active adaptation, and under what circumstances? These questions are constantly analysed by the author, and the answers are to be used to develop recommendations needed to build a secure power market. The article discusses the structure of the market and two basic models – traditional and competitive.
Przedsiębiorstwa elektroenergetyczne są kluczowymi firmami dla gospodarki kraju. Wiele instytucji naukowo-badawczych zajmuje się zagadnieniami dotyczącymi sektora elektroenergetycznego, by znaleźć odpowiedź na pytanie, co powinny uwzględniać tworzone strategie, aby zapewnić bezpieczeństwo energetyczne kraju. Czy firmy powinny stosować strategię adaptacji czy może strategię przełomu? Jeśli będą stosować adaptację, to czy adaptację bierną, czy czynną i w jakich okolicznościach? Te pytania są stale analizowane przez autora, a odpowiedzi mają posłużyć do wypracowania rekomendacji niezbędnych w budowaniu bezpiecznego rynku elektroenergetycznego. W artykule została omówiona struktura rynku i dwa podstawowe modele – model tradycyjny i model konkurencyjny.

Our study focuses on family farm firms as an important and yet under-researched type of family firms. We explore the entrepreneurial growth behavior in the context of family farm firms by focusing on the role of pluriactivity. By integrating the literature of family business strategies, EO, and growth intentions, this study of 1618 Finnish family farms seeks to understand the idea of pluriactivity as a strategic orientation of family farm firms leading towards the growth and renewal of their prevailing and future domains. Our study revealed that pluriactivity is associated with growth-orientation and perceived strengths of the family farm firms. We identified four types of growth groups (Established, Growth-Driven, Experimenters, Stand-Stills) and found differences in their pluriactive orientation. We suggest that pluriactivity as a strategic orientation affects the growth-intention of the family entrepreneurs and the business renewal processes of the family farm firms. Entrepreneurs need to have capabilities (knowledge, skills, experience) and willingness to change (motivation, attitude, volition) when using pluriactivity as a strategic orientation as they affect growth behavior (EO). Lastly, we discuss with our results and make some suggestions for future research avenues in family business strategy research.

The article presents issues of tourism development in Oświęcim – a town that remains in the shadow of the former genocide site of Auschwitz-Birkenau Concentration Camp. The authors’ aim is to present the results of research on the image of the town, as well as activities leading to a change of the unfavourable image of Oświęcim: “a town overshadowed by a museum”. They are included in “The Strategy for Tourism Development in Oświęcim, 2018-2030”, developed with the support of the authors of this article. The paper also presents an analysis of tourism development and tourist assets with respect to using them to create a supplementary offer for tourists visiting the Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial and Museum.

Research background: This study presents the results of the research which aimed to identify and critically discuss existing methodologies in the merger and acquisition field. Value creation to merging and acquiring firms and national countries constitute the center of the research. This study distinguishes between specific methodologies employed to gauge M&A performance on a micro- (corporate) and macro- (economy and society) economic levels. The final section of the paper concludes with a theoretical methodological framework integrating methodologies employed to measure M&A performance on a firm level and methodologies measuring consequences and effects of M&A on the economy. The aim of the analysis described in the paper is to ascertain and evaluate theoretically existing methodologies used in empirical studies that would allow proper and critical understanding of the results of various findings in the holistic and global M&A area. Purpose of the article: The purpose of the paper is to investigate and critically discuss the methodologies employed within the M&A performance framework with the focus on specific anticipated outcomes of the M&A deal and methodology measuring this outcome. The following objectives are being raised: (1) To identify recent developments in the M&A market and determine challenges and changes they encompass. (2) To identify and critically discuss anticipated outcomes of the M&A deal and existing methodologies measuring M&A performance on the corporate level; (3) To identify and critically discuss anticipated outcomes of the M&A deal on the economy and methodologies measuring consequences and effects of M&As on the macro- economic level; (4) To integrate methodologies measuring M&As performance on a micro- and macro- economic levels into theoretical methodological framework enabling scholars and practitioners to evaluate M&A performance from a holistic perspective. Methods: Based on previous studies, the authors conduct a structured literature review aimed to critically discuss and evaluate developments and challenges of measuring M&A performance on corporate and macroeconomic levels. The research is carried out as a structured assessment of past literature. The findings from scientific articles and studies by various scholars are being categorized, grouped and summarized to discern a meta‐analytic view of the work carried out to date. Finally, deep analysis of scientific literature, logical comparative analysis, systematization of scientific article and business cases are employed in the article. Findings & Value added: The paper evidences developments and challenges of measuring M&A performance on corporate and macroeconomic levels. The re-search elaborates on several key developments in M&A methodology and performance studies carried out in empirical works during the last two decades. The findings help to independently and objectively assess performance of M&A from a holistic perspective.

The purpose of the paper is to present the author’s reflections on the origin and popularity of various approaches to maintenance and improvement of production processes, their terminological consistency, understanding, and practical application of their principles. The author’s reflections are based on his observations made over his many years of activity as a lecturer and consultant in the area of production engineering and management. It was shown that there is a need to make scientists and practitioners aware of the relatively large degree of freedom in defining the scope and way of application of strategies of continuous improvement. The author’s proposal is to refer to all approaches to maintenance and improvement of production processes with the title “Strategies of Efficient Action” and all supporting methods as “Practices of Efficient Action”. Considerations presented in the paper can be useful in more and more efficiently applying the power of TQM, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing and other strategies of processes maintenance and improvement in the daily activities of companies.

Numerical simulation provides a valuable assistance in the controlling of forming processes. The elasto-plastic orthotropic constitutive law is based on the choice of an equivalent stress, a hardening law and a plastic potential. An identification of the model parameters from an experimental database is developed. This database consists in hardening curves and Lankford coefficients of specimens subjected to off-axis tensile tests. The proposed identification strategy is applied to aluminum sheets. The behavior of this material is studied under several solicitations. The anisotropic behavior of the aluminum plate is modeled using the Barlat criterionand the hardening law. The obtained Lankford coefficients are compared to those which are identified by a different strategy.

The security of contemporary Europe is under a serious threat. The migration crisis has created a serious challenge for the cohesion of the European Union, causing divisions and tensions between the member states and within their societies. The EU’s passive policy deprived of a long-term strategy has proven to be ineffective. The crisis has shown the weakness of its institutions and member states in crisis situations. EU values have turned out to be inconsistent with the values of many member states, and they are the basis of a common migration and asylum policy. The author analyses the migration crisis and presents solutions for the EU to stop it.

Digital transformation is widely recognized to be a key issue in contemporary management studies. The area is attracting increasing attention because of both the general trend of the growing importance which digital technologies play in the present society, as well as the ways companies are using digital technologies to improve their competitive advantage. As a result, digital transformation is a subject of a growing number of papers, research, and managerial publications. The main aim of this work is to propose and validate a method to measure the phenomenon and its role in companies’ strategies, and to gather information on strategic directions for digital transformation in enterprises. This paper presents an overview of the literature discussion on digital transformation. A method to study directions of digital transformation in enterprises is demonstrated. It is based on the content analysis methodology and is used to study a choice-based sample of companies listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange. The research carried out offers preliminary evidence supporting the conclusion that digital transformation is a phenomenon which can be measured with the content analysis framework. The findings also outline strategic directions for digital transformation and shed light on possible variables influencing the process.

This article refers to the Space security legislation in Japan and Poland. Both states have already prepared some legislation on Security in Space- the question is the following- if there is still a need of progress and if those presented legislation are sufficient for the practical purposes of the peaceful uses of Outer Space. Japan is a much more experienced state in using space than Poland; the same seems with the legislation. Poland as less experienced state in this matter has lots of ambitions to create the efficient legislation on Space security, so it must follow the good examples of states and institution in this matter. One of them is Japan. On the other state, Poland as a Member of EU must implement the European law in space security (in particular SSA), which seems to be priceless and efficient for the international cooperation in Space.

Polish air transport is an important component of both the European and global transport services market. Enterprises and institutions responsible for its development should be conducive to shaping the most competitive position of entities of the air transport market. In Polish airports and branch infrastructural investments, balanced and sustainable development should be taken into account, determining the level of quality of services provided and access to the market. These aspects are highlighted in the strategy for the development of regional airports, whose task is also to stimulate the mobility of people and their transport activities. Air transport, although it is a relatively young form of transport, the history of which goes back over a hundred years back, is nowadays a very important element of the global economy. In the last decades the air passenger transport was treated as an elite one. It has now become very common and has contributed to the mobility of people in many regions of the world. More and more often, not only global companies or corporations are talked about, but also referring to the ease of moving, taking up work or studying in different parts of the world, away from the home country, people choose most often the air transportation.

The current political situation in the world, marked by the conventional military conflict between Russia and Ukraine, growing contradictions and the desire to redefine the international order obviously translate into increased interest in the armaments market. The authors undertook to work out the issue related to the definition of a new battlefield, factors determining the demand for weapons. This topic is particularly relevant at the time of the current events beyond Poland’s eastern border. Military threats resulting from the geographic location and neighborhood of Poland clearly place us as an important, geostrategic player. Only a modernly equipped army is able to ensure the security and integrity of its borders and this modern equipment should be produced domestically as much as possible. The questions that the article tried to answer concern the following: what product and purchase strategy should be implemented by the Polish Armed Forces to face current and future threats? And what should be the direction of implementation of equipment and armaments based on the most modern solutions for production. Organisations have to take into account rapid, non-linear changes in their environment that build pressure on the company‘s development strategy. Therefore, one of the key challenges and paradoxes is to how maintain mutual coherence between different areas of the organisation and simultaneously leverage being ambidextrous so as to continue with exploration and exploitation activities. The main goal of this paper is to present research results on the relation between strategic coherence and company ambidexterity. Strategic coherence is a proprietary concept allowing for measurement of the balance between the vertical and horizontal adjustment of an organisation. Vertical adjustment is the relation between strategy and the elements of the business model measured by: 1) the cascading of goals, 2) feedback on matching elements of the business model according to strategy, and 3) control over financial results and strategy implementation. Horizontal adjustment refers to matching the business model components measured by: 1) creating value, 2) capturing value, and 3) creating a synergy effect) Meanwhile, ambidexterity is determined by four areas: 1) company goals, 2) products, 3) market and 4) competitive advantage for both exploration and exploitation activities. The research survey was conducted with the use of the CATI method. Altogether, 400 medium-sized and large Polish companies were included in the study. To calculate the dependencies, the Pearson correlation coefficient was applied. The companies studied achieved similar results in terms of strategic coherence dimensions, as the vertical adjustment was 6.47, and the horizontal was 6.29 on a scale of 1–10. Meanwhile, in terms of ambidexterity, the companies achieved a moderate level, with the average value for exploration being 4.26, and that for exploitation 4.51 on a scale from 1 to 7. Based on correlation analysis, the relation between both variables has the shape of an inverted “U” with the most favourable point for ambidexterity at the “high strategic coherence” level. This study is a comprehensive guide for practitioners, and presents development guidelines for companies. The value of this research is an empirically validated framework that describes relations based on a dynamic balance between strategic coherence and two types of adjustment in the area of regulation – vertical and horizontal, as well as ambidexterity with two types of activity in the area of operations: exploration and exploitation. This study is unique and explores uncharted areas of strategic management.

Celem artykułu jest ukazanie znaczenia zabezpieczenia społecznego, w szczególności sposobu jego postrzegania i roli, jaką odgrywa w dokumentach strategicznych z zakresu bezpieczeństwa narodowego RP. Jednocześnie zdecydowano się skupić na czterech opracowaniach strategicznych i wskazać główne podobieństwa i różnice. Generalnie znaczenie zabezpieczenia społecznego uwidacznia się we wszystkich dokumentach,  jednak komponenty i główne projekty, kierunki wsparcia są inne. Dominuje ukierunkowanie na zabezpieczenie społeczne, choć są równie inne aspekty, tj. wspólnotowość i rozwój. Ponadto, analizowany pozamilitarny obszar bezpieczeństwa powiązany jest z innymi, tj.  gospodarczym czy ekologicznym, jak wynika z najnowszej Strategii Bezpieczeństwa Narodowego RP z 2020 r.
The aim of the article is to show the importance of social security, in particular the way it is perceived and what role it plays in strategic documents in the field of national security of the Republic of Poland. At the same time, it was decided to focus on four strategic studies and indicate the main similarities and differences. In general, the importance of social security can be seen in all documents, it is present, but the components and main projects, directions of support are different. The social model dominates, focusing on social security, although other aspects are also present, i.e. community and development. In addition, the analyzed, non- military field of social security is most often recognized with economic potential, and, as can be seen in the latest National Security Strategy of the Republic of Poland from 2020, it is treated together with other, non- military fields of security.

The authors are tackling the issue of strategic steering ofmodern societies. Strategic processes are social processes, eventuating in a special field between individual and collective actors and the emergent social structures. The analysis must therefore take both micro and macro level into account. Social dimensions of these processes can be explained by the “social becoming” approach to the analysis of social reality. Within this approach strategy is located on the level of agency, between individuality and totality. This is the reason for “path-dependent” nature of strategic processes and of development, implying “choice within constraints” approach. Strategic actors have freedom of strategic choice, but this choice is constrained by the social structures and culture.

The last decade has seen a growing trend towards the use of proxies in the Middle East and North Africa following the outbreak of the Arab Spring. In this context, the issue of Turkey’s approach to proxy war in these regions has received considerable attention since 2016. Thereby, the purpose of this article is to investigate the essential characteristics of Turkish proxy war strategy in Syria and Libya. As such, this study intends to trace the development of Turkish proxy war strategy by making use of the conceptual frameworks proposed by Groh (2019), O’Brien (2012) and Art (1998). The most obvious finding to emerge from the analysis is that Turkey changed its indirect intervention strategy from donated assistance to proxy warfare in Syria and Libya when it saw a greater need to influence the result of the conflicts. In the case of Syria, this study has shown that the controlthrough-centralisation approach towards the Armed Syrian Opposition has enabled Turkey to carry out an effective proxy war strategy from 2016 onwards. In Libya, the results of this investigation have shown that theTurkish Army has pursued a proxy war strategy since Ankara and the Government of National Accord (GNA) signed an agreement on security and military cooperation in December 2019. The article concludes that Turkey has centralised many revolutionary groups under an Islamist-nationalistic vision and partnered them with its own military in order to expand its influence in the Middle East and North Africa.

Developing an effective business strategy ought to be based on the aspects of rationality, not only with the roots of present time, but also with the past and characteristics acquired in previous competitive episodes that may form the context for future ones. Thus, in analyzing the possibility of supporting decisionmaking process, one should take into account the essential properties of economic entities (objects), such as their complexity, dynamics and nonlinearity. Within this perspective, in order to model the dynamic behavior, system dynamics approach has been used in the work here reported. This technique complements the popular management approach of balance scorecard, providing the multidimensional view of an enterprise and expressing the interrelations among different processes in it.

The purpose of the article is to identify and assess environmental practice implementations focusing on the environmental strategy as a model. Available references provide scarce information on the very existence of business practices which enforce organizational changes and introduce model strategic behaviors of the company towards the natural environment, which is indicative of a cognitive loophole. The study provides authorial proposals of an environmental strategy as a model. A case study was carried out as part of the project, and its results have led to a conclusion that the implementation of environmental practices is not a one-time act, but rather an evolutionary process which takes place in stages, sequences. Furthermore, as a model of environmental practices, the strategy is developed through evolution, proceeding in a sequential manner.

Purpose: The article attempts to show that the effective marketing is a key condition for achieving large profits in mobile app development. Design/methodology/approach: Promising IT projects can, very often, end in a disaster if people do not choose the right strategy of sales. There are many promotional activities available as well. This study investigates different types of business models that are currently used in the marketing of mobile applications. Findings: Different types of business models will be compared with their effectiveness and popularity. In addition, the advantages and disadvantages of different strategies will be reviewed. Moreover, aspects, which influence the final revenue from the application, will also be shown. Originality/value: The entire discussion and the selection of the best strategy will be summarized.

Consistent access to potable water remains a major challenge among communities in rural areas of Vhembe District Municipality (VDM). This is due to the high frequency of water supply infrastructure breakdown due to obsolete infrastructure and inadequate involvement and participation of rural communities in paying for water and maintenance which affect sustainability of water supply system in VDM. This study assesses current state of water supply, challenges and effectiveness of measures in place in order to propose intervention to improve rural water supply system in VDM. The study followed a mixed method research design, which include both qualitative and quantitative methods. Data was analysed using thematic content analysis and chi-square test. The study established that water is inconsistently supplied in VDM. As about 53.5% of the respondents received water once per week which necessitate intervention to improve the situation. All the respondents from the four local municipalities of Vhembe District were not satisfied with the quantity of water received and distance travelled to collect water. The study recommend intervention strategy which included that local management structure to be established and terms of reference agreed with communities including more water supply sources options to be added

Over the last thirty years, the importance and interest in cultural factors in international relations and in international security has increased. The links between culture and security, and in particular the impact of culture on security, are issues whose importance is growing and which are being increasingly studied. They are regarded as a multifaceted problem, as cultural differences have become the cause of conflicts and wars, and tendencies of cultural domination have led to the destruction of cultures and entire civilizations. It therefore seems interesting to reflect on the process of developing an independent strategic culture of the Russian Federation. The purpose of the article is to discuss the process of shaping the independent strategic culture of the Russian Federation and to address four basic research problems: the sources of Russian strategic culture; the indication which of them are primary and which are secondary ones; determining whether Russian strategic culture underwent evolution; and determining whether then Cold War influenced the shape of today’s strategic culture of the Russian Federation. To achieve the intended purpose of the article, critical analysis of literature is applied, which allowed to find answers to the research questions.

Socio-economic development of a city depends highly on investment policy and finance abilities for realized projects. Permanent supply of funds for that goal is very important and it is possible because of strategic programming of expenses in a long-term period. In the MIP 2015–2019 for Wrocław expenses are concentrated on: transport, renovations and rebuilding of streets and public transportation; education; and also other subdivision tasks. Planned expenses will reduce development barriers of the city, assuring consistency of projects realization and they can help in realization of socio- -economic development strategy priorities. In the long term, the goals of the city development will be achieved. Consistent planning of the investment expenditure process affects the implementation of development and strategic challenges of the city, focuses funds on indicated tasks and allows for flexible redeployment of funds in the variable conditions of the global economy.

This paper predicts qualitatively and quantitatively the near infrared activity of individual minerals in simple and complex mineral associations using mixtures of common alteration minerals found in a copper ore. It was found that spectra dominance in most cases is dependent on any or combination of mineral composition, relative proportion or concentration and/or mineral accessibility or sensitivity to near infrared radiation. The analysis of results also indicated that, in most cases, only freely occurring waste, such as clays (kaolinite and/or muscovite) and calcite, can be targeted for discrimination. In this paper, a strategy for the application of near infrared for preconcentration of copper bearing minerals like chrysocolla and malachite from coarse ore particles was proposed. Other applications also considered in this paper include preconcentration of hematite from associated clays and carbonate waste, and the determination of moisture content in kaolinitic clays.

Purpose: The main purpose of this study was to compare the phenomenon of interfrm cooperation strategy in both hyper-growth, and stable-growth knowledge and technology–intensive frms, in a country characterized by a high level of generalized trust: Sweden. Methodology: Qualitative methods were incorporated: direct semistructured interviews with top managers in 13 ICT frms (8 hyper-growth and 5 stable-growth), analyzis of reports, corporate websites and press releases. Furthermore, interviews in 3 expert frms in the industry were conducted, facilitating interfrm cooperation. Conclusions: There were signifcant differences in interfrm cooperation strategy in two distinguished groups of the frms: hyper-growth, and stable-growth. Managers’ individual approaches to uncertainty, strategy and cooperation might be more important than institutional settings. The ICT frms operate in a constantly changing global environment and local context seems to have only a minor impact on the rules of the game in the industry. Research limitations: This study was a qualitative explorative approach as an introduction to further empirical research. Originality: The study presents an interfrm cooperation phenomenon incorporating different perspectives and settings. It contributes to alliance portfolio literature (forming and managing of alliance portfolio in a different context/country/industry), and enhances understanding of frm strategies characterized by different growth rates.

The analysis of the political-military situation in South-east Asia shows that it is a hot spot area which, in the future, might be a place of nuclear conflict. Disputes over natural resources, the petroleum and natural gas of the South China Sea, may make it a global hot spot. The main contenders who want to play the dominant role in the Asia and the Pacific Ocean area are the United States and China. Territorial disputes can also start a future war. Kashmir, which remains the source of ceaseless tensions between India and Pakistan, can provide an example. Conflicts have already consumed thousands of victims and repeatedly put the feuding sides on the edge of the nuclear war.

The article's objective is to analyze the main assumptions of India's strategy in the Indo-Pacific region and define the role of the US in it. The time frame of the article is determined by the assumption of power in India in 2014 by the Indian People's Party (Bharatiya Janata Party, BJP), led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as well as the opening of a new stage of the US-led Indo-Pacific rebalancing strategy, which followed China's initiation in 2013 of its Belt and Road Initiative (previously known as the One Belt One Road project). The article seeks to answer the following main research question: What role has India attributed to the United States in its Indo-Pacific strategy since 2014? It hypothesizes that the United States has assumed an increasingly significant role in India's regional strategy over the past seven years, but not to the extent of a formal alliance, only approaching at best the status of a strategic partnership. The theoretical framework used to analyze the case study of the US role in India's regional strategy is the category of institutional balancing and the assumptions of neoclassical realism. The choice of such research tools was determined by their explanatory value. Moreover, both models complement each other. Bearing the above in mind, the following structure of the article was adopted. The first part presents the general assumption of the analysis and the theoretical framework. The second discusses the evolution of India's approach to the US from 2014 to 2021, indicating the reasons for its change and reconstructing the role of the US in the Indian regional strategy, especially after 2020. The third part draws on the theoretical framework adopted in the article, i.e., the assumptions of institutional balancing and neoclassical realism, to offer conclusions that answer the main research questions.

Learners’ beliefs on language learning and perceived self-efficacy are important to the success of their second/foreign language (SL/FL) learning. To reveal the general profiles of and relationship between Chinese students’ beliefs about English learning and self-efficacy, the present study examined beliefs about English learning and self-efficacy held by Chinese university EFL (English as a FL) learners at differing English proficiency levels. A total of 1,698 students from a top university in Beijing answered a battery of questionnaires. The results revealed a general overview of the students’ beliefs about the nature of language learning and the roles of teachers, feedback and learning strategies, and self-efficacy. Another major finding was that participants at different English proficiency levels differed significantly from one another in beliefs about language learning and self-efficacy.

This paper aims to answer the question: Through what activities the Stocznia Foundation ensures the idea of social participation in society? That idea assumes that social groups actively participate for the benefit of social development in cooperation with municipal authorities and third-sector organizations. Stocznia is a non-governmental organisation and an aid institution providing services in the areas that improve building a conscious, safe and wise society, actively involved in the activities for the common good. The Od diagnozy do strategii project organized by the Stocznia Foundation, is the document that describes the citizens’ participation in public projects and the process of planning an effective strategy for achieving selected goals. The Foundation is an integral part of the preparation strategy for civic participation, which is based on the analysis of the practical involvement of stakeholder groups in the creation of real plans for the development of the local environment. This article is part of the research devoted to the Stocznia Foundation and its activities for the benefit of the society, especially the idea of social participation and the security sphere related to it.

This essay delves into the concept of Theory Y, one of the hallmark relationship management principles of the 20th century introduced by Douglas McGregor in his influential book "The Human Side of Enterprise" (1960). Theory Y assumes that employees are self-motivated, seek responsibility, and do not dislike work. The essay explores the advantages and disadvantages of Theory Y, highlighting its potential in nurturing creativity and maintaining employee satisfaction, but also addressing its limitations in certain situations. It examines successful examples of Theory Y implementation in companies like Facebook and Google, as well as the potential drawbacks such as freedom abuse and lack of organizational control. This article focuses on the issue of innovation within enterprise strategies, with a particular emphasis on the value-creation process and the multidimensional nature of innovation. To analyze this, the focal point was the overall structure of business operations, with a particular emphasis on the involvement of employees. It was also noted that economic entities are subject to generic, market, and HR conditions. The main objective of this article is to highlight the relationships between innovation within enterprises and the conditions under which they operate. This includes the challenges faced by employees in generating creative and innovative ideas and implementing new solutions. Two research hypotheses were put forward in this article. The first hypothesis, H1, assumes that a company’s overall profile is a crucial determinant in creating value through innovation within organizations. The second hypothesis, H2, assumes that market requirements in terms of creating customer value will drive employees to implement innovation defined in the company’s strategies. The importance of open innovation in business strategic decisions was also highlighted. Using statistical methods, these hypotheses were verified through a survey conducted in various enterprises.

This work presents an original and previously unpublished analysis of database use in the process of sustainable development planning. Planning of sustainable development is conditioned by external and internal factors. The basis for such planning is the spatial research, which can distinguish groups of similar units and valuate their stage of development. This work shows several suggestions for database employment in sustainable development planning. It has been suggested to employ the databases in the consecutive stages of the sustainable development planning in sample strategic documents of several authors. In the present conditions, the main problem for the correct usage of the resources and their protection is the lack of identification of the problems, especially the social and economic ones, and the natural valuation which could be made more efficient with the help of a database. Creation of information or conveying the information and later applying the gathered information will be a favourable factor in a wider employment of databases in different domains of life, especially in planning of sustainable development.
W pracy przedstawiono oryginalną i wcześniej niepublikowaną analizę wykorzystania baz danych w procesie planowania zrównoważonego rozwoju. Planowanie zrównoważonego rozwoju uwarunkowane jest czynnikami zewnętrznymi i wewnętrznymi. Podstawą takiego planowania są badania przestrzenne, które mogą wyodrębnić grupy jednostek podobnych oraz zwaloryzować stan ich rozwoju. Opracowanie prezentuje propozycje wykorzystania baz danych w planowaniu zrównoważonego rozwoju. Zaproponowano wykorzystanie baz danych w kolejnych etapach planowania zrównoważonego rozwoju w przykładowych dokumentach strategicznych kilku autorów. W obecnych warunkach brak identyfikacji problemów, zwłaszcza społecznych i gospodarczych, oraz waloryzacji przyrodniczej, które można byłoby usprawnić za pomocą baz danych, jest głównym problemem właściwego wykorzystania zasobów i ich ochrony. Tworzenie wiedzy – czy przekazywanie wiedzy, a później jej zastosowanie – będzie sprzyjało w szerszym zastosowaniu baz danych w różnych dziedzinach życia, a zwłaszcza w planowaniu zrównoważonego rozwoju.

Based on a critical analysis of literature, the paper has as goal to highlight the basic elements, which should be taken into account in assessing a coherent framework for assessment and classification of global environmental risks. In order gather the attention of professionals in this field of concern, a rather unemployed approach is used, based on the analogy with characters and situation specific to Greek mythology. In correlation with the above- mentioned issues, in the final section of the paper, an attempt is made to develop a management strategy of global environmental risks.
Na podstawie krytycznej analizy literatury, autorzy artykułu naświetlili podstawowe elementy, które należy uwzględnić w trakcie szacowania i klasyfikacji globalnych zagrożeń środowiska. W celu przyciągnięcia uwagi profesjonalistów z tego zakresu wykorzystano raczej nieużywane dotąd podejście oparte na analogii do bohaterów i sytuacji z greckiej mitologii. W nawiązaniu do wspomnianych powyżej zagadnień, w końcowym paragrafie artykułu zaproponowano opracowanie strategii zarządzania globalnymi zagrożeniami środowiska.

Presently, innovations and advanced technologies are the basis for the development of companies in Poland. Their creation and growth require not only expenditures and advanced and extensive organizational structures, but also exploratory and executive behavioural skills of their employees. Thanks to these skills, intellectual resources are created. The purpose of this paper is to present strategy for protecting intellectual resources in the company. In these deliberations, the authors present their model for the protection of intellectual resources that, in practical perspective, is a component of the broadly understood business development strategy. The point of reference for the purpose and scope of the paper was research conducted in the period from May to July 2015 on a sample of 137 companies classified into small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
Innowacje i zaawansowane technologie są obecnie podstawą rozwoju przedsiębiorstw w Polsce. Ich powstawanie i wzrost wymagają nie tylko nakładów finansowych czy zaawansowanych i rozbudowanych struktur organizacyjnych, ale również odkrywczych i wykonawczych umiejętności behawioralnych pracowników. Dzięki tym umiejętnościom powstają zasoby intelektualne. Celem pracy jest przedstawienie strategii ochrony zasobów intelektualnych w przedsiębiorstwie. W rozważaniach tych przedstawimy własny i oryginalny model strategii ochrony zasobów intelektualnych, który w wymiarze praktycznym stanowi komponent szeroko rozumianej strategii rozwoju przedsiębiorstwa. Punktem odniesienia do tak sformułowanego celu i zakresu pracy były badania przeprowadzone w okresie od maja do lipca 2015 roku na próbie liczącej 137 przedsiębiorstw zaliczanych do grupy małych i średnich (MŚP).

A decision and game theoretic model is developed for how one and two news organisations strike balances between producing clickbait or fake news, and real news. Each news organisation seeks to attract gullible consumers who consume more clickbait or fake news than real news, and non-gullible consumers who conscientiously consume only real news. Increasing a news organisation budget results in obtaining both more clickbait or fake news, and more real news. More clickbait or fake news is produced if the news organisation’s unit cost of effort to produce real news, the production efficiency for clickbait or fake news, and the fraction of consumers consuming clickbait or fake news, increase. In contrast, less clickbait or fake news is produced if a news organisation’s unit cost of effort to produce clickbait or fake news, and the production efficiency for real news, increase, and the gullible consumers consume real news with a higher frequency. Lower unit effort costs and higher budget and production efficiencies cause higher utility for a news organisation and lower utility for the competing news organisation. Higher weight assigned to the contest over clickbait or fake news induces both news organisations to exert higher effort to produce clickbait or fake news. When the gullible consumers of a news organisation consume a relatively large amount of real news in comparison to the consumers of another news organisation, then the first news organisation exerts higher effort to produce real news and obtains higher utility than the other news organisation.

The following study is based on the theoretical considerations and qualitative survey to develop hypotheses about the inflence of the new regime type – cyberdemocracy – on the management of the political party. This research provides important perspective on the role of strategic management in the context of political parties’ behaviour. Results from the study indicate the connection between the party’s position (competitive, market and strategic) and its key strategic choices. Using a grounded theory research method, adapted techniques of strategic analysis are proposed. The presented information expands the knowledge about the planning of marketing activities of the parties in the new communication environment.
zawarte w artykule badania zmierzające do weryfiacji hipotez dotyczących wpływy nowego typu ustroju – cyberdemokracji – na zarządzanie podmiotem politycznym oparto na rozważaniach teoretycznych, a także empirycznych badaniach jakościowych. Badania te ukazują istotną perspektywę zarządzania strategicznego w kontekście zachowań partii politycznych. Wyniki naukowych poszukiwań ukazują na związek między pozycją partii (konkurencyjną, rynkową i strategiczną) a jej kluczowymi strategicznymi wyborami. Pozyskane informacje poszerzają wiedzę na temat planowania działań marketingowych podmiotów na rynku politycznym w nowym środowisku komunikacyjnym.

W artykule dokonano analizy porównawczej dwóch współczesnych strategii kosmicznych opublikowanych przez Wielką Brytanię i Francję. W odniesieniu do pierwszej z nich określono wizję oraz cele strategiczne. W następnej kolejności opisano realizację określonych celów za pomocą czterech filarów. Opisano 4 fazy wdrażania strategii, z horyzontem czasowym po 2030 roku. W odniesieniu do francuskiego odpowiednika strategicznego określono wagę przestrzeni kosmicznej we współczesnych działaniach militarnych, jak również wskazano na ramy prawne militarnych i niemilitarnych działań w Kosmosie. Kolejna część publikacji traktuje o kierunki rozwoju oraz nabywane w przyszłości zdolności kosmiczne. Za istotne uznano zwiększenie autonomii strategicznej, której czynnikami są: prawo, aspekty techniczne oraz współpraca międzynarodowa. Opisano mapę drogową, określając francuskie ambicje w rozwoju tego obszaru operacyjnego. W ostatniej części od- niesiono się do kwestii strukturalnych związanych z nabywaniem zdolności kosmicznych. Dokonano porównania najważniejszych elementów strukturalnych obydwóch strategii: wizje i cele strategiczne, sposoby osiągania celów strategicznych, aspekty międzynarodowego prawa kosmicznego, etapy realizacji zadań określonych w strategiach, analizę i identyfikację zagrożeń oraz ambicje dotyczące osiągnięcia statutu supermocarstwa kosmicznego. Wskazano różnice oraz części wspólne poruszanych elementów strukturalnych dokumentów.
The paper presents a comparative analysis of two contemporary space strategies published by the United Kingdom and France. In respect to the first one, the vision and strategic objectives have been defined. This is followed by a description of the achievement of defined objectives through four pillars. Four phases of strategy implementation were outlined, with a time horizon after 2030. With reference to the French strategic counterpart, the importance of space in modern military activities was defined, as well as the legal framework for military and non-military activities in space was in- dicated. The next part is devoted to the development directions and future acquisition of space capabilities. An increase in strategic autonomy, the factors of which include law, technical aspects and international cooperation, was considered important. A roadmap was described, defining French ambitions in the development of this operational area. The final section addresses structural issues related to the acquisition of space capabilities. A comparison was made between the most important structural elements of two strategies: visions and strategic objectives, ways to achieve the stra- tegic objectives, aspects of international space law, stages to achieve the ta- sks defined in the strategies, analysis and identification of threats, and ambitions to achieve space superpower status. The differences and common parts of the addressed structural elements of documents were indicated.

Maintaining national security is one of the basic functions of any country. National security includes the problem of opposing all threats to its existence and development, external and internal alike. It is conditioned by the evolution and functioning of the international environment, in which various threats and challenges arise, and also by the security needs within the structure of society. Considering that security — as it is commonly understood — is directly related to external threats, significant importance is attributed to the country’s foreign policy, and the entirety of the undertakings aimed at protecting its sovereignty. Forecasting national security is a necessity and is certainly one of the duties of every decision-maker responsible for internal security issues. Conscious leaders should — and even must — plan the future of their country, organisation or institution as accurately as possible, with such plans extending several years into the future. The ability to forecast the state of security is critical as having a vision of the future and ready-made plans can help prevent or counteract various types of threats.

Opis:
The purpose of this article is presentation of outsourcing strategy formation in enterprises networks. The analysis of factors affecting outsourcing strategy training in enterprises networks are showed in the article. Specificity of outsourcing strategy compared with insourcing strategy in integrated companies. The role of business outsourcing process in developing strategies for vertically and horizontally integrated companies is described. The research on implementation policy of outsourcing strategy in network companies on the example of companies in Ukraine is analyzed as well.
Celem artykułu jest formowanie strategii outsourcingu w przedsiębiorstwach sieciowych. W artykule jest przeprowadzona analiza czynników wpływających na kształcenie strategii outsourcingu w przedsiębiorstwach sieciowych. Pokazana została specyfika strategii outsourcingu w porównaniu ze strategią insourcingu w przedsiębiorstwach zintegrowanych. Określono role procesów biznesowych w tworzeniu strategii outsourcingu dla pionowo i poziomo zintegrowanych przedsiębiorstw. Przeprowadzono badania wdrożenia strategii outsourcingu w przedsiębiorstwach sieciowych na przykładzie przedsiębiorstw na Ukrainie.

Opis:
The aim of the article is to show the applicability of the Delphi method in the process of building a tourism development strategy in the region. The analysis of the regional tourism development strategies, as well as of the literature indicates that the Delphi method has not yet been used in research in the area of tourism in Poland. The foreign literature, however, contains the examples of its use, starting from the eighties of the twentieth century. The article presents the framework of the research process using the Delphi method. It also presents the theses and the research questionnaire developed by the experts from the tourism sector from the Podlaskie Voivodship within the framework of the research project "Foresight as a tool to improve tourism management in the region". Indication of the possibility of applying the Delphi method in the process of building a tourism development strategy in the region will be an opportunity to build a vision of the future, based on the experience and expertise of the stakeholders in the field of science, admin-istration, business, nongovernmental organizations, protected areas, cultural institutions and media. Supporting the strategic planning process through the substantial involvement of experts and stakeholders will enable the joint development of the social vision of the future of tourism development by the parties concerned and to uphold a sense of need for its implementation.
Celem artykułu jest wskazanie możliwości zastosowania metody Delphi w procesie budowania strategii rozwoju turystyki w regionie. Analiza regionalnych strategii rozwoju turystyki, jak i polskiego piśmiennictwa wskazuje, iż metoda Delphi dotychczas nie została zastosowana w badaniach w obszarze turystyki w Polsce. W literaturze zagranicznej natomiast można odnaleźć przykłady jej wykorzystania poczynając od latach osiemdziesiątych XX wieku. W artykule zaprezentowano założenia procesu badawczego metodą Delphi. Przedstawiono również tezy i kwestionariusz badawczy wypracowane przez ekspertów z branży turystycznej z województwa podlaskiego w ramach projektu badawczego „Foresight jako narzędzie doskonalenia zarządzania turystyką w regionie”. Zastosowanie metody Delphi w procesie formułowania strategii rozwoju turystyki w regionie, stanowi szansę na budowanie wizji przyszłości, opartej na doświadczeniach i kompetencjach ekspertów i interesariuszy ze sfery nauki, administracji, biznesu, instytucji kultury i obszarów chronionych, organizacji pozarządowych oraz mediów. Wsparcie procesu planowania strategicznego merytorycznym zaangażowaniem uczestników procesu umożliwi wspólne kształtowanie społecznej wizji przyszłości rozwoju turystyki poprzez zainteresowane strony oraz poczucie potrzeby jej wdrażania.

Opis:
This research studies the application of modern practices and technologies for the collection of a large volume and variety of data, in order to develop a research knowledge base for data mining and analysis in the tourism sector and especially on Cruise and Ship Lines Passengers. Emphasis was given to the application of appropriate methods of data analysis and processing, to produce tangible results for the benefit of sustainable tourism development. Current research focuses on structuring a data warehouse for the collected information in order to apply online analytical processing techniques on the stored data, as well as data mining and data visualization. A holistic approach is proposed, along with a new model for analyzing the impact of tourism activity in general—and cruises in particular—on local society. The results will be utilized as a strategic tool for decision-making by those involved in the tourism sector of cruise areas, with ways to maximize the benefits of tourism, such as increasing overnight stays and, more broadly, passenger consumption, and ways to reduce the environmental impact of visitors and passengers in the ecosystem of cruise areas.
W artykule przedstawiono zastosowanie nowoczesnych narzędzi i technologii umożliwiających gromadzenie dużej ilości różnorodnych danych w celu tworzenia ich zbiorów, pozwalających na eksplorację i analizę naukową danych dotyczących sektora usług turystycznych, a zwłaszcza problemów linii i statków wycieczkowych oraz ich pasażerów. Szczególny nacisk położono na zastosowanie odpowiednich metod analizy i przetwarzania danych do uzyskiwania konkretnych wyników, które będą wspierać zrównoważony rozwój turystyki. Przeprowadzone badania koncentrują się na architekturze hurtowni danych, w których gromadzone są pozyskane informacje, umożliwiającej analityczne przetwarzanie zgromadzonych danych (OLAP), a także analizę zestawów danych (data mining) i ich wizualizację. Wyniki badań zostaną wykorzystane jako strategiczne narzędzie podejmowania decyzji w sektorze usług turystycznych, w szczególności w obszarze dotyczącym rejsów wycieczkowych, oraz maksymalizacji korzyści, takich jak zwiększenie liczby noclegów i szerzej – konsumpcji pasażerów, umożliwią także zmniejszenie wpływu odwiedzających i pasażerów statków wycieczkowych na ekosystemy odwiedzanych obszarów.
