Opis:
Boron was partially substituted by phosphorus (3 at.%) in two Si-poor Fe-Nb-Cu-B-Si Finemets. Mostly non-significant changes were observed after vacuum annealing at 500°C, whereas equivalent Ar annealing resulted in significantly better soft-magnetic properties, which suffer from compressive surfaces stress. Possibly by hampering surface crystallization, the substitution eased the surfaces stress and reduced undesired off-axis anisotrophy at the cost of limiting the useful annealing temperature.

In this paper possibility of application two-dimensional vector Preisach model for bulk materials was investigated. Physical magnetization mechanisms in bulk cores and thin ribbons were analyzed. Model is based on collection of the Preisach planes which describe material state in different angles on rotation plane. Presented model exhibits good conformity with experimental data for bulk as well for ribbon shaped cores. Model includes anisotropy and describes not only mean magnetization vector, but also distribution of magnetic moments for different angles.

Opis:
This paper reports on the magnetic properties of $Mn_{1-x}Zn_x$-ferrite nanoparticles. Different x compositions of the magnetic material have been considered. Field- and temperature-dependent magnetization curves and electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) at different temperatures were used to reveal the magnetic properties of the samples. For x=0.5, the EPR spectra consist of a single resonance signal, strongly symmetrical, with g = 3.25 close to 2073 G, and an asymmetric line corresponding to g = 4.4 for x = 0. The asymmetry is attributed to a random distribution of the anisotropy in the system, with perpendicular and parallel modes, giving information about the effective anisotropy of the system. For high concentrations, the resonant field shifts to 2875 G. Magnetization measurements as function of temperature at 60 Oe according to the standard zero field cooling (ZFC) and field cooling (FC) procedures are reported. The behavior of field cooling magnetization (MFC) at low temperatures evidences the presence of strong interparticles interactions.

We report on high resolution X-band electron spin resonance (ESR) spectroscopy studies of the spin-ladder material $(C_{5}H_{12}N)_{2}CuBr_{4}$. Our experiments provide a direct evidence for the presence of anisotropy in $(C_{5}H_{12}N)_{2}CuBr_{4}$ in contrast to a fully isotropic spin-ladder model employed for this system previously. Low-temperature angular dependence of ESR transitions is analyzed employing a simple spin-1/2 dimer model with the symmetric anisotropic exchange interaction.

It is shown that annealing under stress of FINEMET-type metallic glass ribbon (FeCuNbSiB) induces magnetic anisotropy of an easy-plane type (cross-section of the ribbon). This conclusion has been drawn analyzing experimental results obtained by means of Kerr-effect (domain structure) and Mössbauer spectroscopy operating in the so-called "magic angle" configuration which allows us to calculate all three spatial components of magnetization. Additionally, it is also shown that no crystallographic texture is created in the sample after stress-annealing, the feature which would have been an origin of the observed anisotropy.

Magnetic force microscopy measurements combined with computer simulations were applied to investigate the strengths of magnetic field over the $[NiFe//Au//Co//Au]_N$ multilayers with in-plane and out-of-plane anisotropy observed for NiFe and Co layers, respectively. All measurements were performed in air atmosphere at room temperature. Dimensions and density of magnetic domains were estimated. The distribution of magnetization directions was deduced from comparison of magnetic force microscopy with the simulation results. Some sort of modulation in stray magnetic field was observed, but till now it is of unknown origin.

Opis:
It has been reported recently that domain wall mobility in Fe-based amorphous glass-coated microwire can be significantly different in the cases when magnetization reversal caused by domain wall motion results in different orientation of magnetization. This behaviour has been called unidirectional effect. The effect of temperature on domain wall velocity vs. axial magnetic field dependences was studied for glass-coated Fe_{77.5}Si_{7.5}B_{15} microwire samples with strong unidirectional effect. Unidirectional effect was observed for the whole temperature interval from 100 K up to room temperature. Analysis of the results obtained indicates that the model of a solid domain wall does not explain the observed v(H) dependences. It seems very probable that besides standard damping mechanisms also changes in structure (shape) of the domain wall as a function of velocity (magnetic field) should be considered. Understanding of this mechanism could also provide interpretation of unidirectional effect.

Opis:
Thermodynamic studies of the anion-radical salt system [Ni(bipy)₃](TCNQ)₄·(CH₃)₂CO, where TCNQ is 7,7',8,8'-tetracyano-quinodimethane, are reported. The anion-radical salt systems based on TCNQ belong to a material class in which the arrangement of the anion-radical salt has considerable impact on the charge transfer and magnetic properties. The crystal structure of the studied compound consists of [Ni(bipy)₃]⁺² cations containing Ni⁺² ions and four types of crystallographically independent anion-radicals TCNQ^{·-} (A, B, C and D). These TCNQ^{·-} radicals form two different types of TCNQ^{·-} stacks (AABB and CCDD), where a strong exchange interaction is expected. The temperature dependence of the specific heat of a single crystal was studied in magnetic fields up to 5 T and in the temperature range from 0.4 K to 30 K. The temperature dependence of specific heat displays a broad Schottky-like maximum above 0.4 K. Using a single-ion approximation, the analysis of the temperature dependence of the specific heat below 10 K yields values for the anisotropy parameters, D/k_{B}=-1.95 K and E/k_{B}=0.3 K. These results suggest that the observed maximum in the specific heat originates from Ni⁺² ions while the exchange interaction between the transition metal ions and the TCNQ is negligible.

A new experimental method for the study of closure domain structure dynamics in bistable ferromagnetic microwires is proposed. The simple experimental set-up enables detection of the presence of a free domain wall in the wire after application of a well-defined rectangular magnetic field pulse. The changes in closure domain structure dynamics, caused by applied tensile stress, are demonstrated by measurements on $Fe_{77.5}B_{15}Si_{7.5}$ glass-coated microwire. Minimum critical field for the release of a domain wall from the closure domain structure increases with increasing stress, while on the other hand, the minimum time needed for this process rapidly decreases with increasing stress.

Opis:
The spin dynamics of a layered magnetic insulator, KEr(MoO₄)₂, have been investigated in a magnetic field applied along the easy axis at temperatures where the magnetism is dominated by the occupation of a ground doublet. More specifically, the DC magnetization and AC susceptibility were studied in magnetic fields up to 5 T and at temperatures ranging from 1.8 to 20 K. The temperature dependence of the AC susceptibility suggests a slowing down of magnetic relaxation with increasing magnetic field. The magnetic field dependence of the AC susceptibility, studied at nominally 2 K, indicates the presence of low-field, intermediate-field, and high-field regimes characterized by the interplay of internal and external magnetic fields that give rise to different relaxation processes.

The object of this work is the comparison of domain structure and off-diagonal magnetoimpedance effect in amorphous ribbons with different magnetostriction coefficient. The $Co_{66}Fe_4Ni_1Si_{15}B_{14}$ and $Fe_{80}B_{20}$ samples were obtained by melt-spinning. During the quenching procedure a 0.07 T transverse magnetic field was applied to some of the samples. Domain patterns obtained by the Bitter technique confirm that the differences on the samples are related to the different anisotropy and magnetostriction coefficient, and the quenching procedure. Small changes on the anisotropy distribution and the magnetostriction coefficient can be detected by the off-diagonal impedance spectra as a consequence of the different permeability values of the samples.

The study presents magnetization process behaviour versus operating temperature up to 100°C in dual-phase ferromagnets in the light of their complex permeability spectra and energy losses from quasi-dc regime up to about 1 MHz upon defined peak induction. The samples consist of two Co- and Fe-based ball-milled-ribbon powders mixed in the same mass ratio. The magnetic characterization has been carried out by a digital hysteresisgraph-wattmeter using complex permeability approach to the linear material.
Temperature invoked reduction of anisotropy leads to the decrease of hysteresis losses and significantly affects the low-frequency part of permeability and losses that is ascribed to domain wall movement. The high-frequency behaviour remains unchanged with respect to increase of temperature.

We designed and investigated four-arm nanostructures, composed of two perpendicularly crossed stripes, fabricated from ferromagnetic (Ga,Mn)As layer by means of electron-beam lithography patterning and chemical etching. The nanostructures exhibit a bistable resistance behavior resulting from two configurations of magnetic domain walls in the central part of the structures. We demonstrate a possibility of switching between two stable resistance states in zero magnetic field by applying a pulse of either weak magnetic field or electric current through the structure.
