Opis:: The use of 2,4-D as a post pollination treatment to fertilize florets instead of GA₃ provided a two-fold improvement in seed set, culturable embryos and hence green plant production from wheat and maize pollination. The efficiency of the wheat by maize pollination method for haploid production was equal to the anther culture method in F₁ hybrid combinations that were responsive to anther culture. However, in recalcitrant combinations obtained from non-responsive genotypes the maize pollination method was far superior.

Opis:: A BESS-T-Scan analysis of cDNA COL1A1 and COL1A2 obtained by RT-PCR derived from five patients with sporadic forms of ostegenesis imperfecta was performed. The study was done in four patients with type I and one patient with type III OI. The analysis revealed the presence of structural changes in two regions of cDNA COL1A1 in two patients. No quantitative changes referring to COL1A2 gene were noted in any patient. The above analysis was the first application of the BESS-T-Scan technique in a molecular diagnosis of OI. The applied method seems to be useful and fulfil the basic criteria of the screening method to detect and locate mutations.

Opis:: The author of the article proposes a relational analysis of literary culture. Relational research treats the newest model of literary production as a set of complex relations between the author and his or her image, the text, economics, marketing, criticism by the work’s audience, the media, the technological framework, and so forth. These relations provide the sphere of possibilities for literature and its agents. Increasingly intricate relations are drawing the fields of literature, the media, and economics nearer to each other; these fields are becoming more accessible in order to facilitate the exchange of various kinds of capital and to create conditions for the development of literary fame and author brands. The relational concept of literary culture provides a better tool for the analysis of the contemporary phenomenon of writer-celebrities, which is key to understanding the functioning of the entire field of literature.

Opis:: F₁, F₂ populations as well as F₃ and F₄ wheat lines coming from more than 300 cross combinations have been used for androgenic wheat studies and more than 5000 haploid plants were produced. Promising doubled haploid lines were tested together with lines produced in the conventional way in yield trials. The two best doubled haploid lines overyielded the standard. On the basis of results related to the general combining ability it is advisible to cross parents with a good combining ability for characters such as high percentage of responding anthers and embryo/callus induction with parents indicating a good combining ability for green plant production. In this way ideal lines can be obtained for doubled haploid production.
