This paper presents the results of diagnostic examinations conducted on the coils of super-heaters made of 10CrMo9‒10 steel that were operated in industrial conditions at 480°C for 130 thousand hours. The tube was exposed in a coal-fired boiler. The chemical and phase composition of the oxide/deposit layers formed on both sides of the tube walls (outside – flue-gas side and inside – steam side) and their sequence was examined using optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy with electron backscatter diffraction and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, and X-ray diffraction. The changes in the mechanical properties caused by corrosion and aging processes were concluded from the hardness measurements. In addition, the nature of cracks in the oxide layers caused by pressing a Vickers indenter was determined. The results of these examinations have shown a high degradation of steel on the flue-gas inflow side and identified the main corrosion products and mechanisms.

The purpose of the paper was to analyse the effect of diverse heat treatment parameters (normalising and tempering) on mechanical characteristics of the material used to develop ϕ508x20 tube bends made of the 10CrMo9-10 steel by application of induction heating. The research conducted included tests of basic mechanical properties as well as low cycle fatigue and creep at the temperature of 500°C. With reference to the results thus obtained, it has been established that there is a relationship between mechanical properties of bends and individual features of their microstructure conditional to the heat treatment parameters. Among other conclusions drawn in the research, it has been found that the main structural factor conditioning the mechanical properties of bends was the grain size. Heat treatment parameters characterised by lower temperature and shorter tempering time triggered changes in the material microstructure, such as increased grain comminution. The effects of the said changes included improvement of strength characteristics (Rm, Rp0,2) as well as increased material durability under conditions of fatigue and creep. Main criterion-specific mechanical properties and geometric features of the bends developed conformed with the relevant requirements of reference standards (PN-EN 10216-2, PN-EN 12952).
W pracy analizowano wpływ zróżnicowanych parametrów obróbki cieplnej (normalizowanie i odpuszczanie) na charakterystyki mechaniczne materiału łuków rurowych ϕ508x20 ze stali 10CrMo9-10 wykonanych z zastosowaniem nagrzewania indukcyjnego. Przeprowadzono badania podstawowych własności mechanicznych oraz zmęczenia niskocyklowego i pełzania w temperaturze 500°C. Na podstawie uzyskanych wyników stwierdzono, że istnieje związek pomiędzy właściwościami mechanicznymi łuków, a cechami ich mikrostruktury determinowanymi parametrami obróbki cieplnej. Stwierdzono między innymi, że głównym czynnikiem strukturalnym warunkującym właściwości mechaniczne łuku była wielkość ziarna. Parametry obróbki cieplnej charakteryzujące się niższą temperaturą i krótszym czasem odpuszczania, skutkowały zmianami mikrostruktury materiału w tym większym rozdrobnieniem ziarna. Efektem tych zmian był wzrost właściwości wytrzymałościowych (Rm, Rp0,2) jak również zwiększenie trwałości materiału w warunkach zmęczenia i pełzania. Podstawowe, kryterialne właściwości mechaniczne i cechy geometryczne wykonanych łuków spełniały wymogi przedmiotowych norm (PN-EN 10216-2, PN-EN 12952).

Opis:
A dynamic development of steels for components for usc boilers used in fossil fired power plants creates new welding problems. Introduction of new combinations of alloying agents, which are used to improve mechanical properties, especially creep resistance, does not remain indifferent as to the weldability of the newest steels. Every new steel grade which will be used for pressure components in power plants boilers has to be precisely tested. The most important processes that require profound research are bending and welding. It is crucial to examine all new steel grades and use the knowledge to elaborate technologies which could be used during prefabrication and assembly of boiler installations. As an example 7CrMoVTiB10-10 also known as T/P24 is given.
Dynamiczny rozwój stali stosowanych w energetyce na elementy kotłów o parametrach nadkrytycznych stwarza nowe wyzwania spawalnicze. Wprowadzanie coraz to nowych kombinacji dodatków stopowych w celu osiągnięcia jak najlepszych właściwości mechanicznych w tym odporności na pełzanie nie pozostaje bez wpływu na spawalność nowych stali. Każda nowa stal, która zostaje zastosowana na elementy ciśnieniowe kotłów energetycznych musi przejść wiele prób, szczególnie jeśli chodzi o gięcie i spawanie aby możliwe było opracowanie technologii umożliwiających bezproblemowe wykonanie oraz montaż instalacji kotłowych. Przykładem takiej stali jest 7CrMoVTiB10-10 znana również jako T/P24.

The paper contains results of studies into the formation of oxide layers on 10CrMo9-10 (10H2M) steel long-term operated at an elevated temperature (T = 545°C, t = 200,000h). The oxide layer was studied on a surface and a cross-section at the inner and outer surface of the tube wall on the outlet both on the fire and counter-fire side of the tube wall surface. The obtained results of research have shown a higher degree of degradation, both of the steel itself and oxide layers, on the fire side. In addition, it has been shown that on the outside tube wall, apart from iron oxides, there are also deposits composed mainly of Al2SiO5.

Presence of iron in Al-Si cast alloys is common problem mainly in secondary (recycled) aluminium alloys. Better understanding of iron influence in this kind of alloys can lead to reduction of final castings cost. Presented article deals with examination of detrimental iron effect in AlSi10MgMn cast alloy. Microstructural analysis and ultimate tensile strength testing were used to consider influence of iron to microstructure and mechanical properties of selected alloy.

Opis:
The AlMg10 aluminum alloy reinforced with SiC particles was subjected to friction stir processing (FSP). The composite was made by mechanical mixing and gravity casting. The mass fraction of SiC particles in the composite was about 10%. Evaluation of the effects of FSP treatment was performed by means of light microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, EDS and hardness measurement. It was found that the inhomogeneous distribution of SiC particles and their agglomeration, which were observable in the cast composite, were completely eliminated after FSP modification. The treatment was also accompanied by homogenisation of the material in the mixing zone as well as fragmentation of both the matrix grain of the composite and SiC particles. In the case of SiC particles, a change in their shape was also observed. In the as-cast composite, particles with dimensions from 30 to 60 μm and a sharp-edged polyhedral shape prevailed, while in the material subjected to friction treatment, particles with dimensions from 20 to 40 μm and a more equiangular shape prevailed. Pores and other material discontinuities occurring frequently in the as-cast composite were completely eliminated after friction modification. The recorded changes in the microstructure of the material were accompanied by an increase in the hardness of the composite by nearly 35%. The conducted investigations have shown that FSP modification of the AlMg10/SiC composite made by the casting method leads to favorable microstructural changes in the surface layer and may be an alternative solution to other methods and technologies used in surface engineering.

Opis:
Biodegradable materials represent a new class of biocompatible materials with applications in many medical cases where the support must be provided only for a certain period. In this article obtaining of ZnMgY alloy is presented along with some basic characteristic investigations like chemical composition (energy dispersive spectroscopy - EDS), microstructure (optical microscopy - OM and scanning and electron microscopy - SEM), immersion behavior in 10xDPBS (Dulbecco Phosphate Buffer Saline) solution (mass loss and surface degradation), electro-corrosion behavior (potentiostat with a three electrodes cell) and micro-hardness of the experimental alloy compared to cast Zn and ZnMg materials. The results present an improvement of micro-hardness of Zn by alloying with Mg and Y and a modification of corrosion resistance.

All around the world every revision of the International Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems of the World Health Organization introduces discontinuities into data concerned with deaths by single causes. In the case of Poland an additional factor contributing to the low quality of data is the rearrangement of death registration system in 1997, in particular by changes of coding practices and the introduction of institution of medical doctor stating the underlying cause of death. This article presents the organization of the system for collecting mortality data in Poland, and discusses the method of reconstructing homogeneous data by single causes of deaths for the period 1970–2009. The description is illustrated by examples of selected causes of deaths.

The impact of small addition of zirconium in hypoeutectic commercial AlSi10MgCu alloys on their mechanical properties (hardness) in as cast and thermally treated conditions was investigated. Small addition of zirconium does not change significantly the as cast and heat-treated microstructure of investigated alloys except to reduce the SDAS and grain size of primary α-aluminium phases. Addition of zirconium up to 0.14 wt. percentage increases the hardness of investigated alloys in as cast conditions. The increase in the hardness of samples after various solid solution times can correlate very well with the formation of small needle like coherent Al3Zr particles.

The study investigated the primary structure of the new generation of superalloys based on Co-10Al-5Mo-2Nb and Co-20Ni-10Al-5Mo-2Nb cobalt. Research on a group of cobalt-based materials was initiated in 2006 by J. Sato [1]. These materials may replace nickel-based superalloys in the future due to their excellent properties at elevated temperatures relative to nickel-based superalloys. The primary microstructure characterisation of the Co-10Al-5Mo-2Nb and Co-20Ni-10Al-5Mo-2Nb alloy are the basic subject of this article. The Co-10Al-5Mo-2Nb and Co-20Ni-10Al-5Mo-2Nb alloy are tungsten free alloys of a new type with the final microstructure based on the Co-based solid solution L12 phase of the Co3(Al,Mo,Nb) type as a strengthened structural element. The analysed alloys were investigated in an as-cast state after a vacuum casting process applied on graphite moulds. The primary microstructure of the alloys and the chemical constituent of dendritic and interdendritic areas were analysed using light, scanning electron and transmission microscopy. Currently, nickel-strengthened γ’ phase steels are still unrivalled in aerospace applications, however, cobalt based superalloys are a response to their existing limitations, which do not allow maintaining the current rate of development of aircraft engines.

In the dissertation it has been shown, that so called „time-thermal treatment” (TTT) of the alloy in liquid state, as overheating the metal with around 250°C above the Tliq. and detaining it in this temperature for around 30 minutes, improves the mechanical properties (HB, Rm, R0,2). It was ascertained, that overheating the AlSi17Cu5Mg alloy aids the modification, resulting with microcrystalline structure. Uniform arrangement of the Si primeval crystals in the warp, and α(Al) solution type, supersaturated with alloying elements present in the base content (Cu, Mg) assures not only increased durability in the ambient temperature, but also at elevated temperature (250°C), what is an advantage, especially due to the use in car industry.

Comprehensive understanding of the melt quality is of vital importance for foundry man. The effect of each particular element need to be properly analysed. Therefore, the aim of this paper was to analyse the impact of various content of zirconium on the solidification path and structural characteristics (SDAS, grain size, porosity) of as cast commercial AlSi10MgCu alloys. It has been found that addition of zirconium up to 0.24 wt.% reduce significantly the grains size (from 3.5 mm to 1.2 mm), SDAS (from 57.3 μm to 50.4 μm) and porosity (from 19% to 5%), leading to production of sound cast parts.

Microstructure and wear property of AlSi10Mg alloy manufactured by selective laser melting (SLM) were investigated. Also, the effect of post heat treatment on the mechanical and wear properties was examined. Two kinds of heat treatments (direct aging (DA) and T6) were separately conducted to SLM AlSi10Mg alloy. As-built alloy had a cellular structure formed inside the moltenpool. Eutectic Si was also observed at the cellular boundary in as-built alloy. After DA heat treatment, the cellular structure still remained, and a large amount of nano-size Si particles were newly formed inside the cell structure. Both molten pool and cellular structure disappeared, and the size of Si increased in T6 alloy. The values of Vickers hardness measured as 139.4 HV (DA alloy), 128.0 HV (As-built alloy) and 85.1 HV (T6 alloy), respectively. However, concerning to wear property, T6 alloy showed better wear resistance than other alloys. The correlation between microstructure and wear mechanism of SLM AlSi10Mg alloy was also discussed.

Opis:
Analysis of a crystallographic texture (a preferred orientation) effect on cavitation wear resistance of the as-cast CuZn10 alloy, has been conducted in the present paper. The experiment was conducted on the CuZn10 alloy samples with <101>//ND or <111>//ND preferred orientations (where the ND denotes direction that is perpendicular to the exposed surface). The cavitation resistance examinations have been carried out on three different laboratory stands (namely, vibration, jet-impact and flow stands) that are characterized by a various intensity and a way of cavitation’s excitement. Obtained results point towards a higher cavitation resistance of the CuZn10 alloy with the <111>//ND preferred orientation.
