Opis:
In this study, it was achieved by using the method of impulse noise to detect internal or surface cracks that can occur in the production of ceramic plates. Ceramic materials are often used in the industry, especially as kitchenware and in areas such as the construction sector. Many different methods are used in the quality assurance processes of ceramic materials. In this study, the impact noise method was examined. This method is a test technique that was not used in applications. The method is presented as an examination technique based on whether there is a deformation on the material according to the sound coming from it as a result of a plastic bit hammer impact on the ceramic material. The application of the study was performed on plates made of ceramic materials. Here, it was made with the same type of model plates manufactured from the same material. The noise that would occur as a result of the impact applied on a point determined on the materials to be tested has been examined by the method of time-frequency analysis. The method applied gives pretty good results for distinguishing ceramic plates in good condition from those which are cracked.

Opis:
This study focused on the effects of microstructures on the low-temperature impact toughness of directly water-quenched offshore steel. Martensite dominated the microstructure directly below the quenched surface. In contrast, mainly lower bainite, martensite, and low amount of ferrite were observed in the central region of the quenched specimen. The ductile to brittle transition temperature of tempered martensite was significantly lower than that of a bainite-dominated microstructure. It is found that low-angle boundaries within the bainite packets greatly impair the low-temperature impact toughness of the steel. The absence of high-angle boundaries in the lower bainite packets significantly deteriorates the low-temperature impact energy of offshore steel.

In this study, an artificial neural network application was performed to tell if 18 plates of the same material in different shapes and sizes were cracked or not. The cracks in the cracked plates were of different depth and sizes and were non-identical deformations. This ANN model was developed to detect whether the plates under test are cracked or not, when four plates have been selected randomly from among a total of 18 ones. The ANN model used in the study is a model uniquely tailored for this study, but it can be applied to all systems by changing the weight values and without changing the architecture of the model. The developed model was tested using experimental data conducted with 18 plates and the results obtained mainly correspond to this particular case. But the algorithm can be easily generalized for an arbitrary number of items.

Opis:
The paper presents a universal architectural pattern and an associated specification method that can be applied in the design of robot control systems. The approach a describes the system in terms of embodied agents and proposes a multi-step decomposition enabling precise definition of their inner structure and operation. An embodied agent is decomposed into effectors, receptors, both real and virtual, and a control subsystem. Those entities communicate through communication buffers. The activities of those entities are governed by FSMs that invoke behaviours formulated in terms of transition functions taking as arguments the contents of input buffers and producing the values inserted into output buffers. The method is exemplified by applying it to the design of a control system of a robot executing one of the most important tasks for a service robot, i.e. picking up, by a position-force controlled robot, an object located using an RGB-D image acquired from a Kinect. Moreover in order to substantiate the universality of the presented approach we present how classical, known from the literature, robotic architectures can be expressed as systems composed of one or more embodied agents.

The paper deals with structuring robot control systems. The control system is decomposed into distinct agents. An agent, in general, is responsible for control of its effector, perception of the environment for the purpose of its effector control, and inter-agent communication. The behaviour of the agent is governed by its set of transition functions. The control system consists of two tiers – the upper tier is defined by the flow of information between the agents and the lower tier is defined by formal specification of each agent’s behaviour (influence on the environment, gathering sensor readings, production and consumption of the information for/from the other agents). The paper presents one of the examples of utilization of this approach. The example concerns the multi-robot drawing copying system.

Opis:
The following discussion concerns modelling of fracture in steel plates during an impact test, in which both target and striker are manufactured from the same material, high-strength high-hardness armour steel – Mars® 300. The test conditions (3 mm thick targets, projectiles with different nose shapes at impact velocity lower than 400 m/s) result in severely damaged components, which results in an analysis of stress states showing material failure. Numerical analyses are performed using two material models: the Johnson-Cook approach, as traditionally used in impact simulations, accounting for the effect of stress triaxiality, strain rate and temperature and for comparison, a simulation by means of the stress triaxiality and Lode angle parameter-dependent Hosford-Coulomb model, also incorporating the effect of the strain rate on a fracture initiation. The aim of the study is to analyse the mechanisms of penetration and perforation observed in the armour steel plates and validation of the modelling approaches.

This paper deals with the application of the Radial Basis Function (RBF) networks for the induction motor fault detection. The rotor faults are analysed and fault symptoms are described. Next the main stages of the design methodology of the RBF-based neural detectors are described. These networks are trained and tested using measurement data of the stator current (MCSA). The efficiency of developed RBF-NN detectors is evaluated. Furthermore, influence of neural networks complexity and parameters of the RBF activation function on the quality of data classification is shown. The presented neural detectors are tested with measurement data obtained in the laboratory setup containing the converter-fed induction motor (IM) and changeable rotors with a different degree of damages.

With the increase of agricultural production, residues of crop are the main source of organic matter in the soil and they are alternatives to inorganic fertilizers. For this purpose, effects of organic residues (cotton stalk, maize stalk, almond bark) commonly grown in Turkey were investigated for some soil microbial activity in clay soil. In this study, incubation experiment was set up. Five doses (0%, 2%, 4%, 6% and 8%) of organic residues (maize stalks, cotton stalks or almond bark) were applied to soil. Soil microbiological properties of soil samples such as CO2 respiration, dehydrogenase and urease activity were determined. According to the results obtained, maize stalk, cotton stalks and almond bark applications increased some soil microbiological activities, such as CO2 respiration, dehydrogenase and urease activities according to control soil. Maize stalk in comparison to other residues affects better on the biological properties of the soil. It is determined that enhancing effects of the added organic residues (maize stalk, cotton stalk, almond bark) into the soil were changed according to the type of organic residues, dosage and application terms.

In this study, Mo-Si-B based coatings were produced using tungsten inert gas (TIG) process on the medium carbon steel because the physical, chemical, and mechanical properties of these alloys are particularly favourable for high-temperature structural applications. It is aimed to investigate of microstructure and microhardness properties of Mo-Si-B based coatings. Optical microscopy (OM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) were used to characterize the microstructures of Mo-Si-B based coatings. The XRD results showed that microstructure of Mo-Si-B coating consists of α-Mo, α-Fe, Mo2B, Mo3Si and Mo5SiB2 phases. It was reported that the grains in the niicrostructure were finer with increasing amounts of boron which caused to occur phase precipitations in the grain boundary. Besides, the average microhardness of coatings changed between 735 HV0.3 and 1140 HV0.3 depending on boron content.

High-energy mechanical alloying method was used to prepare Al-12Si-xZrC (x = 0, 5, 10, 15 wt. %) nanocomposites. Cylindrical preforms were prepared with an initial preform density of 89% by using a suitable die and punch assembly. The preforms were sintered in a muffle furnace with an inert gas atmosphere at a temperature of 550°C, followed by cooling until room temperature has been attained. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) techniques were used to characterize the composites. Pin-on-disc wear testing machine was used to determine the tribological properties of the prepared composites. The results show that the wear loss reduced with increasing the reinforcement content and coefficient of friction increases gradually.

Opis:
Complex multi-disciplinary models in system dynamics are typically composed of subsystems. This modular structure of the model reflects the modular structure of complex engineering systems. In industrial applications, the individual subsystems are often modelled separately in different mono-disciplinary simulation tools. The Functional Mock-Up Interface (FMI) provides an interface standard for coupling physical models from different domains and addresses problems like export and import of model components in industrial simulation tools (FMI for Model Exchange) and the standardization of co-simulation interfaces in nonlinear system dynamics (FMI for Co-Simulation). The renewed interest in algorithmic and numerical aspects of co-simulation inspired some new investigations on error estimation and stabilization techniques in FMI for Model Exchange and Co-Simulation v2.0 compatible co-simulation environments. In the present paper, we focus on reliable error estimation for communication step size control in this framework.
Funkcjonalny interfejs modelowania (Functional Mock-up Interface, FMI) spełnia rolę standardowego interfejsu do łączenia modeli fizycznych z różnych dziedzin i pomaga rozwiązać problemy importu i eksportu elementów modelu w przemysłowych narzędziach modelowania (FMI for Model Exchange), lub standaryzacji interfejsów wspólnej stymulacji w dynamice systemów nieliniowych (FMI for Co-Stimulation).
