Opis:
This theoretical paper reviews the major theories and models of learning and views them in the light of two major psychological perspectives of learning; behaviorist and constructivist. The educational process has become the dominant response to challenges in all the domains of modern life. The key to a good primary education is the quality of its teachers. Quality education enables people to develop all of their attributes and skills in order to achieve their potential as human beings and members of society. A deeper understanding of the students’ behavior enables the teacher to help guide them through the educational process. Understanding development, or the long-term changes in growth, behavior, and knowledge, helps teachers to hold appropriate expectations for students as well as to keep students’ individual diversity in perspective. From kindergarten through the end of high school, students double their height, triple their weight, experience the social and hormonal effects of puberty, and improve basic motor skills.

Preparedness of teachers to work with pupils with a need of supportive measures and especially with pupils who live and grow up in socially excluded localities, is very low. Quantitatively oriented research investigation8, carried out in 13 regions of the Czech Republic with the sample size of 2005 respondents, offers results that raise doubts towards the inclusively oriented primary education. The teachers are not ready for the phenomenon. This paper focuses on attitudinal constructs of the teachers which can be understood as evaluative relationship towards the observed phenomenon, whose form reflects the subjectively perceived preparedness. It concerned the orientation in the context of questions of social exclusion and school education, actual form of school environment and, ultimately, their own perception of school inclusion.

In the context of contemporary reality, the issue of multicultural education is becoming more and more popular. Therefore, the purpose of the article is two-fold: to discuss Banks’ vve dimensions of multicultural education and to share some ideas on how these dimensions are or can be used to assist teachers in integrating multicultural content into their primary foreign language classrooms. Moreover, one section of the paper is devoted to the vgure of Professor James. A Banks, who is widely regarded as a founder of multicultural education. Moreover, the professor’s own rewections on the dimensions of interest expressed in the interview conducted by Tucker in 1998 are presented. Finally, having recognised the importance of early multicultural education, the author of the article concludes that primary foreign language teachers should not hesitate and encourages them to start preparing their students to become unbiased global citizens.

Opis:
The purpose of the article is to determine the dominant attitude toward inclusive education among primary school teachers in Poland and to explain the predictors of this attitude. Research conducted on a group of 71 teachers using the “Attitudes Toward Inclusive Education” questionnaire showed a moderately positive attitude toward inclusive education among teachers, with statistically significant differences between teachers of grades 1 to 3 and 4 to 8. The much more positive attitude among the teachers of lower grades is supported by their richer experience of working with students with special educational needs and their broader competences and qualifications in inclusive education. These results give an important perspective that should be considered when implementing the idea of inclusion in the Polish education system (mainly when preparing teachers for the profession) so as to ensure continuity in supporting the development of all students at every stage of their education – not only in grades 1 to 3.

The process of teaching knowledge and skills is adjusted to utilitarian requirements in a given country and to its level of development. Also, it is compliant with customs, religion and culture of the country. This article is a collection of conclusions about music as an educational instrument used in the Chernobaba Memorial School in Manjai Kunda, the Gambia. These conclusions are the result of a one-day observation inside the school during a regular school day. The researcher used the method of naturalistic and ethnographical observation, which provided her with information about school teachers and students in everyday situations. The results of such analysis include remarks and subjective conclusions that may inspire teachers from other cultures to change the approach to music education in primary schools. Charnobaba Memorial School teachers model sound and movement behaviours, and the children’s natural way of learning is the imitation of spontaneous responses. In the classroom, the teachers are the dominant voice while performing tonal and rhythmic sequences, and the students imitate them.

The aim of the article is to present the results of the study on early primary school teacher’s preparation for working with gifted pupils. The study was conducted among 697 primary school teachers teaching in grades I, II, and III in Cracow and nearby towns. The theoretical aim of the article is to demonstrate, on the basis of the subject literature, the most important predispositions these teachers should possess. The author's own study has revealed that teachers are not adequately prepared to provide effective and engaging education for gifted pupils at an early school age. In the last part of the article the author indicates solutions aimed at improving this situation, e.g. enriching the offer of university study programmes for teachers in the area of education of gifted students; creating a position of a "teacher of gifted students"; creating separate centres supporting educational development of gifted students; and extending cooperation between all educational units.

The main aim of the study was to determine teachers’ awareness of the development of visual and auditory perception in pupils with mild intellectual disabilities at a mainstream school in the Czech Republic. Based on this main aim, additional goals were set: to determine to what extent teachers are aware of the importance of developing visual and auditory perception in pupils with mild intellectual disabilities, by what means teachers develop visual and auditory perception in pupils with mild intellectual disabilities, and how teachers use pupils’ homework to develop visual and auditory perception. To achieve the aims of the study, the qualitative method was used with the technique of a semi-structured interview. The results show that teachers are aware of the importance of developing perceptual motor functions in pupils with mild intellectual disabilities, but the level of training in working with pupils with mild intellectual disabilities in mainstream primary schools is low. Teachers should receive more expert advice on the development of perceptual motor functions, especially from the staff of school counseling services.

Modern views on education have evolved to regard it to be the right of every human being (regardless of gender, nationality, colour of skin, state of health or individual capabilities) to education. In order to provide the best conditions of education for students with various educational needs it is necessary to create a proper climate for working with them at school and in the family environment. What is needed here, is: a) a coalition of all entities responsible for providing psychological-educational assistance for a child and, b) a high level of education offered, c) development of schools and kindergartens, which will properly satisfy the needs of children with special educational needs. In this process it is necessary to create the legal basis for such actions, a climate of social acceptance, preparation of teachers and other staff working in educational institutions and organizing conditions and situations for direct contacts and interactions of children of diverse needs and development capabilities. Mutual relations can be maintained in a climate of acceptance, understanding, joy and sense of one’s personal development. Inclusive education is our hope for providing able-bodied students and students with special educational needs the sense of belonging to the same community, which is a school/kindergarten as well as to a globally organized human civilization.

New legal regulations in Poland provide for the need of earlier diagnosis and intervention. The regulations refer to two different diagnoses, i.e. a teachers’ diagnosis and that of the specialist (clinical). The teachers’ diagnosis (of the kindergarten and school) results from the process of recognizing and assessing a child’s problems. While the specialist (clinical) diagnosis is carried out at the psychological and pedagogical clinic. Both forms complement each other. A preliminary assessment of the lack of readiness to attend school and the risk of specific learning difficulties should be made as early as at the preschool stage within the teachers’ diagnosis. The discussed directive (RMEN-PPP) imposes an obligation on the kindergarten and the school and makes the institutions responsible for recognizing children’s difficulties and providing them with assistance. However, if the assistance is to be effective, the mentioned centres should cooperate with parents and specialists from the clinic.

Accession of Poland to the European Union induced a variety of changes in different areas of life, including education. A second language was introduced as a compulsory subject in kindergarten and primary school and two compulsory foreign languages in general lower and upper secondary schools. English is the most popular of all languages in all types of schools, regardless of the level of education they represent. Globalization of the English language, the process which can be observed nowadays, has a significant impact on actions taken by schools to popularize learning this language. Therefore, the research was performed with a view to achieving a better understanding of the popularization of English language learning in primary schools in the larger context of a variety of factors. Basing on the analysis of research results, the conclusions reflecting real needs of learners as far as the more effective English language learning is concerned have been drawn. Sharing the research findings with the primary schools which participated in the research will contribute to their practical application.

W 2018 roku w szkolnictwie ukraińskim została wypracowana i wprowadzona koncepcja „Nowa ukraińska szkoła”. Głównym jej zadaniem była reforma struktury szkolnictwa, a przede wszystkim edukacji wczesnoszkolnej. W tym celu wypracowano standard kształcenia przygotowujący do wykonywania zawodu nauczyciela edukacji wczesnoszkolnej„Nauczyciel klas początkowych w szkole ogólnodostępnej”. W pierwszej części opracowania zostało zaprezentowanych pięć etapów powstania i rozwoju organizacyjnego szkół pedagogicznych przygotowujących przyszłych nauczycieli edukacji wczesnoszkolnej do zawodu (koniec XVIII i początek XXI wieku). Druga część poświęcona została organizacji procesu nauczania przyszłych nauczycieli klas początkowych w Akademii Humanistyczno-Pedagogicznej w Chmielnickim.
The issue of training students for the profession of early education teachers in Ukraine is considered in the article. Retrospective analysis of literature shows that the question of preparing teachers for their job was first discussed in the 18th century. Since then, there have been significant changes in the organization of teachers’ preparation for the profession. In 2018, the concept of a “New Ukrainian School” was developed and implemented into Ukrainian education. Its main task was to reform the education system, especially early school education. For this purpose, the standard of educating early school teachers was prepared. It is entitled: “Early Education Teacher in the Public School”. In the first part of this article, the author presents five stages of the emergence and organizational development of educational institutions which train future teachers to work in primary schools (from the end of the 18th to the beginning of the 21st century). The second part focuses on organizing the process of educating future early school teachers in the Khmelnytsky Humanities and Pedagogic Academy.
