    The aim of the article is to investigate of the foreign language section of TEOG (Transition Examination from Primary to Secondary Education) on language teacher practices in the classroom. The participants of the study include 32 English language teachers working at lower secondary schools in Turkey. The results of the study indicate that language teacher practices in the classroom are greatly affected by several factors such as the style and content of the language exam. The main harmful washback of this exam is found to be the neglect of teaching several skills such as listening, speaking, and writing as these skills are not assessed, and stakeholders such as students and parents require reasonable level of success on these texts. Some other factors negatively affected have been found to be the selection of course books, the medium of instruction, classroom assessment as well as anxiety.

    The following article describes one of the most controversial strategies and supplementary teaching tools in the process of Russian language teaching and learning – translation techniques. The author analyses some tendencies in using translation tool in its efficient way. At the same time, major hazards concerning this teaching tool are discussed. All issues presented in the paper revolve chiefly around the Russian language but hopefully many questions are universal.

    В данной статье рассмативаются вопросы связанные с использованием в процессе обучения РКИ учебного перевода как одного из вспомогательных средств овладения иноязычной речью. Как известно, использование этого приема обучения в качестве глоттодактического средства оценивается языковедами и методистами неоднозначно.Автор статьи пытается указать на ряд существенных проблем и вопросов и ответить на некоторые из них.

    The following article takes up the notion of homeland in the works of Vasily Aksenov. In the article it was shown that in the writer's value system the homeland plays an important role. Rodina was considered key in gender studies. Analyses have demonstrated that Russia – is a symbol of the Mother, the USSR – is a symbol of her stepmother. The writer accuses the motherland that it has allowed to deprive their citizens of their freedom, particularly freedom of speech. The article also presents Aksenov’s attention to a small homeland – Kazan, the city of the writer’s childhood.

    Данная статья посвящена вопросу родины в творчестве Василия Аксенова. В статье было доказано, что в системе ценностей писателя родина занимает важное место. Родина была рассмотрена в ключе gender studies. С помощью анализа произведений было показано, что Россия – это символ Матери, СССР – символ мачехи. Писатель обвиняет Родину в том, что позволила обидеть своих граждан, отобрать у них свободу, особенно свободу слова. Аксенов обращает также внимание на маленькую родину – пространство Казани, родной город писателя.

    Address forms, as key expressions of politeness are used in all cultures. They are well displayed in films which exhibit in many cases different societies of different times, and are becoming one of the biggest agents of popular culture, giving great opportunities for their use in sociolinguistic studies. This paper examines the socio-cultural aspects of the use of formal and informal ‘you’ as address forms through films in Hungarian and Russian languages. It explores the main similarities and differences between the studied societies in terms of the use of “Tu-vous” forms (Brown & Gilman, 1975). Formy adresu jako wyrazu uprzejmości są aktualne we wszystkich kulturach narodowych. One są popularne w filmach, które pokazuą zachowania różnych społeczesńtw w różnych okresach historycznych. Formy te są przedstawicielami kultury popularnej. Ich również można  używać w lingwistyce spolecznej.W tym artykule opisaliśmy aspekty spoleczne i kulturowe formalnej i nieformalnej formy “ty” jako wyrazu adresu w filmach węgierskich i rosyjskich. W naszej pracy przedstawiono podobieństwa i różnice między społeczeństwami w stosowaniu formalnej і neformalnej formy “ty” (Brown & Gilman, 1975).

    Children's literature reflects society and conveys new models. This field evolves depending on the representations of childhood that adults build. Recent research shows that children experience deep emotions and that reading contributes to their social and affective development. This paper examines the different issues related to writing the affects aimed at young readers through the study of Astrid Lindgren's novel Les frères Coeur-de-Lion. It focuses on ethical, aesthetic and linguistic questions involved in translating the book from Swedish to French. 
    La littérature de jeunesse est à la fois reflet de la société et vecteur de nouveaux modèles. Elle évolue en fonction des représentations que les adultes ont de l'enfance. Les recherches récentes montrent que les enfants vivent de grandes expériences émotionnelles et que la lecture contribue à leur développement social et affectif. Cet article interroge les enjeux de l'écriture des affects à destination du jeune lectorat à travers l'étude du roman Les frères Coeur-de-Lion d'Astrid Lindgren. Il s'intéresse également aux problématiques éthiques, esthétiques et linguistiques liées à la traduction de l’œuvre du suédois au français.

    Simultaneous interpretation is among the most desired forms of oral translation used during international meetings. The theory and practice of the trade are exposed to constant changes. New theoretical research results are still surfacing along with the revised teaching and practice recommendations. This article addresses the question of simultaneous interpreting instruction based on the models adopted at the Department of Applied Linguistics, Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin.

    Синхронный перевод сегодня является одной из наиболее востребованных форм перевода во время международных встреч. В теории и практике все еще продолжается его развитие. Появляются новые результаты теоретических исследований и рекомендации как в методологической, так и в практической сфере его осуществления. В данной статье мы затрагиваем вопросы, связанные с преподаванием синхронного перевода исходя из модели, практикуемой в Отделении прикладной лингвистики Университета Марии Кюри-Склодовской в Люблине.
