The purpose of this study was to confirm the construct of the multicultural and local wisdom character research instrument of early childhood. Respondents were 430 early children. Data analysis using the CFA approach. The results showed that the four conceptual dimensions of character were empirically proven to group into four dimensions. Each dimension is corrected for sub dimensions and indicators based on the loading factor score criteria, cronbach alpha reliability, rho-A score, composite reliability > 0.70, average variance extracted > 0.50. There are 29 indicators that meet valid, reliable criteria and fit model.

Stainless steels have a wide usage field, their needs as structural parts are increasing day by day due to their resistance to corrosion and providing sufficient mechanical strength in environments that would cause corrosion. In addition to high mechanical properties of the stainless steels, the low heat transmission coefficients bring problems during machining. In this study, the suitable cutting tool and cutting parameters have been evaluated in terms of cutting forces and the tool temperature, the experimental results and finite element analysis have been compared in the milling of Custom 450 stainless steel which offers especially an excellent working opportunity at high temperature and salinity environment. Milling experiments have been carried out using L16 experimental design for Taguchi method. Four simulations have been made using finite element method with corresponding values in L16 orthogonal array for optimum cutting tool and the results were compared in terms of cutting forces and tool temperature changes.

In the present paper we consider the Bézier variant of Chlodovsky-Kantorovich operators \(K_{n−1,\alpha} f\) for functions \(f\) measurable and locally bounded on the interval \([0,\infty)\). By using the Chanturiya modulus of variation we estimate the rate of pointwise convergence of \(K_{n−1,\alpha} f (x)\) at those \(x \gt 0\) at which the one-sided limits \(f (x+)\), \(f(x-)\) exist.

The purpose of this research is to describe the character and values of students in coastal areas. This research method is ethnographic. The research subjects were junior high school students whose parents work as fishermen in coastal areas. The results showed that character education carried out in schools, homes, and community environments has made students in coastal area friendly, hard-working, caring towards their parents, independent, and disciplined. Values and character are not formed instantly but through a long process with environmental conditions in the coastal areas that are so challenging.

This paper is devoted to a study of a Voronovskaya-type theorem for the derivative of the Bernstein–Chlodovsky polynomials and to a comparison of its approximation effectiveness with the corresponding theorem for the much better-known Szász–Mirakyan operator. Since the Chlodovsky polynomials contain a factor \(b_n\) tending to infinity having a certain degree of freedom, these polynomials turn out to be generally more efficient in approximating the derivative of the associated function than does the Szász operator. Moreover, whereas Chlodovsky polynomials apply to functions which are even of order \(O(\text{exp}(x^p))\) for any \(p\geq 1\), the Szász–Mirakyan operator does so only for \(p = 1\); it diverges for \(p \gt 1\). The proofs employ but refine practical methods used by Jerzy Albrycht and Jerzy Radecki (in papers which are almost never cited ) as well as by further mathematicians from the great Poznań school.

Introduction and aim. Multinodular and vacuolating neuronal tumor (MVNT) of the cerebrum is a rare benign, mixed glial/ neuronal lesion which has been included in the recent (2016) World Health Organization (WHO) Classification of the central nervous system tumors.Most of the reported cases are remarkable with adult onset seizure in the literature.They can also be found incidentally in nonepilepsy patients with or without headache We aimed to present this unique entity with its typical magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) features. Description of the case. A 21-year old man presented with complaint of headache that increased in frequency within the last few months.No relevant seizure or any other signs of note.He was diagnosed with MVNT by imaging andstarted to be followed-up.The repeat MRI 6 months later showed no interval changes. Conclusion. Clinicians should be aware of that it is a do not touch lesion in asymptomatic patients with no need for biopsy or surgery and follow up imaging is sufficient when presented with the typical MRI manifestations. Surgical resection may be required for seizure control and was reported in few cases with no tumoral regrowth in the literature.

Aim: The aim of this study was to evaluate the association between the monocyte/HDL ratio (MHR) and idiopathic tinnitus. Study Design: Retrospective case-control study. Material-method: Eighty-nine patients with idiopathic tinnitus diagnosed on an outpatient basis between March 2015 and June 2016 and 87 healthy individuals who presented to our hospital for a routine health examination and had normal audiometry and otoscopy results were included in the study. Blood samples were obtained from patients during the first examination. The MHR was calculated as the ratio of the monocyte count to the HDL level. MHR ratios were compared statistically between the groups. Results: The monocyte count and the MHR were higher and HDL was lower in the study group compared to the control group (p< 0.05). The cut-off value of MHR for diagnosing tinnitus was 11. Conclusion: The MHR ratio was high in patients with idiopathic tinnitus, which supports the fact that atherosclerotic events and oxidative stress are implicated in the etiology of tinnitus.

Cel: Celem niniejszego badania było zbadanie związku, o ile on istnieje, między wartością MHR a idiopatycznym szumem usznym. Projekt badania: Prospektywne badanie kliniczno-kontrolne. Materiał i metody: Do badania włączono 89 pacjentów (grupa badana), u których od marca 2015 roku do czerwca 2016 roku w ambulatorium przyklinicznym zdiagnozowano idiopatyczne szumy uszne oraz 87 zdrowych osób, które zgłosiły się do szpitala w celu przeprowadzenia rutynowego badania lekarskiego i uzyskały prawidłowe wyniki badania audiometrycznego i otoskopowego (zdrowa grupa kontrolna). Próbki krwi pobierano od pacjentów podczas pierwszego badania. Współczynnik HDL (MHR – Monocyte/HDL rate) uzyskano przez prosty podział liczby monocytów przez poziom HDL. Współczynniki MHR uzyskane dla obu grup poddano analizie statystycznej. Wyniki: Liczba monocytów i wartość MHR były większe w grupie badanej, a poziom stężenia HDL był niższy w porównaniu z grupą kontrolną (p<0,05). W niniejszym badaniu wartość odcięcia dla MHR w odniesieniu do szumów usznych ustalono na 11. Wniosek: Współczynnik MHR okazał się wysoki u pacjentów z idiopatycznymi szumami usznymi. Uzyskany wynik wskazuje na udział zdarzeń miażdżycowych i stresu oksydacyjnego w etiologii szumów usznych.

We present the results concerning the excitation and emissions spectra of poly(N-carbazole) (PVK) blended with poly(vinylidene fluoride-co-hexafluoropropene), (PVDF-HfP) and polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP). Thin films of PVK blended with PVDF-HfP (PVK:PVDF-HfP) and PVP (PVK:PVP) were prepared using doctor blade technique on spectrosil substrate. The influences of polymer blends to the excitation and emission spectra were observed under UV excitation source of a xenon lamp. The result shows a discrepancy in the maximum excitation and emission for each samples. The possible energy transfer and recombination mechanisms have been related with singlet-singlet semi-empirical INDO electronic calculation and FTIR measurements.

This study aimed to investigate the associations of hepatocyte nuclear factor 4 (HNF4) alpha single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) and haplotype with insulin resistance and metabolic syndrome parameters. Nine SNPs spanning the HNF4 alpha P2 promoter (rs4810424, rs1884613 and rs1884614) and coding region (rs2144908, rs6031551, rs6031552, rs1885088, rs1028583 and rs3818247) were genotyped in 160 subjects without diabetes or metabolic syndrome. The HNF4 alpha P2 promoter SNPs rs4810424, rs1884613 and rs1884614 were associated with insulin resistance (p = 0.017; 0.037; 0.024) and body mass index (BMI) (p = 0.03; 0.035; 0.039). The intron 1D SNP rs2144908 was associated with high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDLc) (p = 0.020) and the intron 9 SNP rs3818247 showed association with systolic (p = 0.02) and diastolic (p = 0.034) blood pressure. HNF4 alpha common haplotype CCCGTC associated with higher insulin resistance (p = 0.022), fasting blood glucose (FBG) (p = 0.035) and lower HDLc (p = 0.001). In conclusion, subjects with HNF4 alpha P2 variants and haplotypes have been shown to have a higher insulin resistance and are therefore at a higher risk for developing type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Aim: This study aims to determine the age interval for which the flexible nasopharyngoscopy (FNP) and lateral nasopharyngeal X-ray radiography (LNX) used in the diagnosis of adenoid hypertrophy more effectively in a pediatric population. Study Design: Prospective Cohort Study. Materials and Methods: 281 pediatric patients (1 to 15 years old) who were admitted to our ENT outpatient clinic with the complaints of nasal obstruction, snoring, sleep apnea through April 2016 and February 2017 and who were examined with FNP with the pre-diagnosis of adenoid hypertrophy were included in our study. All FNP examinations were evaluated by a single physician. The degree of choanal obstruction was recorded as percentage (%) with the help of the adenoid tissue image. The patients were divided into four groups according to the quality of the endoscopic examination performed during FNP examination; optimal assessment (group-1), assisted optimal assessment (group-2), assisted suboptimal assessment (group-3), and inability to assess despite assistance (group-4). LNX was performed for the re-evaluation of adenoid tissue in the patients in Group-3 and 4. Statistical analysis was performed among the groups according to the ages of the patients. Results: Optimal images were obtained with FNP in the patients aged between 1 and 2 years and 8-15 years and the expected images were obtained for choanal obstruction. However, no image could be obtained with FNP for assessment of choanal obstruction in more than 30% of patients between the ages of 3 and 8 years (31.2% and 33.3%, respectively), also in more than 50% of the patients who were 4,5,6 and 7 years old (60.6%, 56.7%, 55.8%, 66 , 6%, respectively). For this reason, their degrees of choanal obstruction were determined with LNX. Conclusion: For the optimal assessment of adenoid hypertrophy, we suggest that using LNX for the pediatric patients who are 4, 5, 6 and 7 years old and using FNP for the other age groups are more appropriate methods respectively in order not to disturb the polyclinic process of physician and for patient compliance.

Cel: Sprawdzenie czy stosunek monocytów do HDL (SMH) jest czynnikiem prognostycznym idiopatycznej nagłej utraty słuchu (INUS). Typ badania: Badanie retrospektywne, kliniczno-kontrolne Materiał i metody: Czterdziestu pięciu pacjentów z diagnozą idiopatycznej nagłej utraty słuchu, leczonych w ten sam sposób oraz 47 zdrowych ochotników, którzy zgłosili się do szpitala na okresowe badania audiologiczne i laboratoryjne w okresie od marca 2014 do grudnia 2015. SMH w grupie pacjentów i w grupie kontrolnej został obliczony na podstawie wyników morfologii krwi obwodowej oraz badań biochemicznych surowicy. Ponadto pacjenci zostali podzieleni na dwie podgrupy według odpowiedzi na leczenie (dobra odpowiedź – responders i zła odpowiedź – non-responders), co oceniono w badaniu audiologicznym wykonanym po 3 miesiącach zgodnie z kryteriami Siegela. Parametr SMH w obu grupach został porównany za pomocą metod statystycznych. Wyniki: Nie odnotowano istotnych statystycznie różnic w parametrze SMH pomiędzy grupą pacjentów a grupą kontrolną (p=0,574). Jednakże parametr SMH był istotnie wyższy w grupie non-responders w porównaniu z grupą responders, pomimo zastosowania tego samego leczenia (p=0,005). Wnioski: Nie stwierdzono istotnych różnic w wartości parametru SMH pomiędzy grupą pacjentów i grupą kontrolną. Jednakże z uwagi na fakt, że pacjenci z dobrą prognozą mają wyższe wartości parametru SMH w porównaniu z pacjentami ze złą prognozą, uważamy, że parametr SMH w idiopatycznej nagłej utracie słuchu może być czynnikiem prognostycznym, ale nie predykcyjnym.

This paper describes the all-fiber dual-wavelength thulium ytterbium co-doped fiber laser by using a newly developed octagonal shaped double-clad thulium-ytterbium co-doped fiber as gain medium in conjunction with spatial filtering effect. The thulium ytterbium co-doped fiber laser operates at wavelengths of 1990.64 nm and 1998.92 nm with a signal to noise ratio of more than 34 dB as the 980 nm multimode pump power is increased above a threshold value of 1.5 W. The slope efficiency of the dual-wavelength laser is measured to be around 26.16%, which is comparable with the conventional thulium laser pumped by 800 nm single mode pump.
