Opis:
A multiferroic tunnel junction (MFTJ) is a promising device for future memory systems with discrete and different logic states which are controlled by a combination of electric and magnetic fields. The goal of ongoing research is to present ferroelectric and ferromagnetic properties, especially at room temperature (RT), represented as high values of tunnel electroresistance (TER) and tunnel magnetoresistance (TMR). A key aspect is the appropriate preparation of a sample allowing epitaxial growth. The thin layers were prepared by pulsed laser deposition on atomically smooth monocrystalline SrTiO₃ (STO) substrates. The ferromagnetic metal layers La_{0.67}Sr_{0.33}MnO₃ (LSMO) are separated by a layer of a ferroelectric insulator - BaTiO₃ (BTO). The same structure of LSMO, BTO and STO (perovskite) and a similar lattice constant make it possible to obtain high-quality heterostructures. Magnetic measurements confirm differences in the magnetic coercivity of the top and bottom LSMO layer, which allows to obtain their parallel and antiparallel magnetization orientation. A modification of the interfaces of BTO by thin MgO layer enables an increase in the value of the TER effect.

Opis:
This paper deals with investigation of hard milled surface as a surface undergoing severe plastic deformation at elevated temperatures. This surface exhibits quite remarkable magnetic anisotropy (expressed in term of the Barkhausen noise) and differs from ground surfaces. The main reason can be viewed in specific structure and the corresponding domains configuration formed during rapid cooling following after surface heating. Domains are not randomly but preferentially oriented in the direction of the cutting speed at the expense of feed direction. The Barkhausen noise signals (measured in two perpendicular directions such as cutting speed and feed direction) indicate that the mechanism of the Bloch wall motion during cyclic magnetization in hard milled surfaces differ from surfaces produced by grinding cycles or the raw surface after heat treatment.

Opis:
This paper deals with the stress and temperature induced microstructure transformations in a soft bearing steel 100Cr6 after turning operation. Investigation is carried out through a technique based on Barkhausen effect. Evaluation of surface integrity via structure transformations, X-ray diffraction as well as microhardness inspection is carried out as well. Surface integrity is investigated with the respect to the variable tool wears and consequent mechanical and thermal loads applied on the inspected surfaces. Different surface microstructures caused by the mechanical and associated thermal aspects of the surface formation are discussed and correlated with the parameters obtained from the measured Barkhausen emissions.

Opis:
In this paper characterization of internal mechanical stress state in boiler steel plate by the Barkhausen effect based method was presented. The affecting of calibration functions shape by tensile and compressive residual stress was observed. Beside of the significant residual stress anisotropy in sub-surface layers, unfavorable location of main directions of stress was revealed on both sides of the plate. The new method of calibration function without heat treatment of calibration specimens was elaborated and presented also. The investigations of Barkhausen noise as function of applied stress for different intensity and frequency of magnetization current were performed. Based on this, optimal magnetization conditions of doing measurement were estimated. Own construction of measuring apparatus for experiments was used.

Opis:
This paper reports about magnetic Barkhausen noise emission of the rail surface exposed to long time cyclic plastic deformation. Severe plastic deformation of the rail surface induces remarkable structure transformations and alterations of stress state which contribute to valuable decrease of the Barkhausen noise emission compared to untouched surface of the rail. The paper analyses correlation between the Barkhausen noise signals (as well as extracted Barkhausen noise envelopes) and surface state (expressed in terms of micrographs, microhardness readings and residual stresses). This study would contribute to a possible concept for preventing unexpected rails deformation (or cracking) due to their thermal dilatation via the Barkhausen noise technique.

Opis:
This paper deals with magnetic anisotropy found in hard turned surfaces. The high magnetic anisotropy of the surface after hard turning operations occurs due to severe plastic deformation and high temperature, exceeding the Curie temperature in the cutting zone, followed by rapid cooling. The transformed microstructures of the surface, and stress anisotropy near the surface cause the magnetic anisotropy and magnetic domain reconfiguration. On the contrary, temperatures during grinding usually do not exceed Curie temperature and so the remarkable magnetic anisotropy after grinding operations in not found. The magnetic properties of the studied surfaces are analyzed by Barkhausen noise emission as well as magneto-optical methods. The results of these two techniques are used to study the magnetic anisotropy.

We studied the magnetization switching in magnetically bistable amorphous ferromagnetic microwires. We observed quite fast domain wall propagation along the microwires and a correlation between the magnetoelastic anisotropy, distribution of the local nucleation field along the length of microwire and the domain wall dynamics. We observed that both DW velocity and the range of fields, limiting single DW dynamics, can be manipulated by internal or applied stresses and by annealing. We also observed that under certain conditions a controllable domain wall (DW) collision can be realized in different parts of the wire, and that it is possible to manipulate the DW dynamics in a field-driven regime.

Opis:
This paper presents a method of fitting the magnetic hysteresis curves using a calculating algorithm within a computer programme. The calculating programme uses the equations of the Jiles-Atherton model to simulate the M(H) magnetization curve. The aim of this program is to find the values of the parameters which are part of the Jiles-Atherton model once the regression curve for a major magnetization curve obtained experimentally is found. The values of these parameters can be increased or decreased gradually. The parameters modification takes place in such a way that the root mean square deviation between the points of the two graphs, also experimentally simulated, should decrease gradually and, in the end, it should be found below the preestablished percentage value in comparison to the previous value. The procedure for minimizing the root mean square deviation has as a result the fact that the simulated curve represents the regression curve. The calculating programme considers a second method of calculating the values of the parameters by using the already found regression curve. This paper also presents the values of the Jiles-Atherton model parameters obtained by fitting the magnetization curves of several cobalt ferrites samples, sintered at different temperatures.

We have studied the effect of thermal treatment on amorphous glass-coated $Fe_{40}Si_{7.5}B_{15}$ microwires. This microwire is characterized by transverse domain wall regime only, with maximum domain wall velocity of about 1500 m/s. Annealing at 200°C slightly increases its transverse domain wall velocity, probably due to the reduction of mechanical stresses during the thermal annealing. Annealing at 300°C leads to drastical increase of domain wall mobility and domain wall velocity of the transverse domain wall up to 2500 m/s. Moreover, vortex regime appears in this case. Thanks to it, maximum domain wall velocity of around 5000 m/s was observed.

Here, we present the domain wall dynamics in thin magnetic wires that exhibit even negative mobility regime. Such a regime is well below the Walker limit and is a result of structural relaxation. It disappears at high frequencies and it can be enhanced by application of mechanical stress. Moreover, the domain wall velocity was found to be almost field-independent at certain measuring conditions. Anyway, the domain wall velocity remains quite high (> 450 m/s) in this regime.

Here we present the domain wall dynamics in FeNi-based microwires with positive magnetostriction. Two different ranges were found which differs by the measured domain wall mobility. At low fields, the domain wall dynamics exhibit small mobility, whereas at higher field the domain wall mobility increases. The difference in the two regimes of the domain wall dynamics is treated in terms of the different domain wall structure. At low fields, the transversal domain wall is expected, with low domain wall mobility. At high field, the vortex-type domain wall with high domain wall mobility is created.

Samples of amorphous and nanocrystalline alloys were prepared by proper annealing of the metallic glasses: Fe$\text{}_{73.5}$Cu$\text{}_{1}$Nb$\text{}_{3}$Si$\text{}_{13.5}$B$\text{}_{9}$ and Fe$\text{}_{73.5}$Cu$\text{}_{1}$Nb$\text{}_{3}$Si $\text{}_{17.5}$B$\text{}_{5}$. Magnetic hardening of the alloys at the onset of crystallization was studied by the two independent techniques, i.e. measurements of the magnetization hysteresis loops and Barkhausen effect. A good correlation between the coercivity and the maximum power of the Barkhausen noise has been found in these two compositions of the alloys.

The magnetization processes in amorphous and nanocrystalline FINEMET ribbons were studied by the numerical decomposition of the quasi-static hysteresis loop to the contributions of the domain wall movement, the domain rotations, and the domain wall annihilation and nucleation processes following the hyperbolic T(x) model of hysteresis. The hysteresis data measured during decrease of the excitation magnetic field were used for the separation of these processes. The significant differences in behavior of these two materials were found. In amorphous state the domain rotations component dominates whereas in nanocrystalline state the domain wall movement component prevails. These differences are reflected in the anisotropy field distributions as well.
