Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is associated with variable communication difficulties and disorders, mostly detected in pragmatic language abilities, sensory integration, and imitation. These components are important for a comprehensive speech-language therapy (SLT) intervention. This article describes the application of a new evaluation material for assessing imitation abilities, partial pragmatic abilities based on the recognition of graphical visual diagrams, and sensory integration in two boys with ASD (diagnosed with childhood autism in accordance with International Classification of Diseases, 10th Revision, WHO) with sensory integration difficulties, dyspraxia symptoms, and imitation skill disturbances. The main objective is to identify potential obstacles to SLT efficiency and the causes of disturbed pragmatic language abilities. The analysis of the case studies shows some progress in communication ability; however, some of the abilities related to sensory integration have been partially inhibited. In one case, we suggest the possible influence of the individual therapy based on the described detailed assessment.

The incidence of stroke in the Czech Republic is increasing. Approximately one-third of people after stroke develop aphasia, manifesting various symptoms in speech production, understanding, reading and writing. In acute stage of disease, screening tools are used to detect aphasia. The aim of this article is to present and describe Afaziologický screeningový test (ASTcz) to determine the presence or absence of aphasia. This Czech version is an adaptation of the original German Aphasie-Schnell-Test. In the process of validating the adapted instrument, persons without aphasia and persons with aphasia in acute and chronic stages of the disease were tested. The results of testing the psychometric properties of the test (i.e. validity, reliability and discriminatory ability) are described and commented on. They indicate a very good applicability for clinical practice.

Papież jako głowa Kościoła i głowa Państwa jest zobowiązany do podejmowania odpowiednich form krytyki i przeciwdziałania nieprawidłowemu funkcjonowania instytucji Kościoła i Państwa. Chodzi o to, że zadaniem polityki i państwa jest realizacja dobra wspólnego, a jedną z jego funkcji jest integrowanie społeczeństwa. W obydwu przypadkach konieczne jest istnienie niezakłóconej komunikacji, a tę właśnie zakłóca korupcja. W nauczaniu papieża Franciszka korupcja zaburza komunikację, wywołując kryzys zaufania i podejrzliwość. Lekceważy prawdę, która jest gwarancją przejrzystości i zrozumienia. Korupcja, która rośnie i wciąż się rozwija, jest zaraźliwa i usprawiedliwia samą siebie przez tworzenie własnej doktryny. Korupcja stanowi zaprzeczenie solidarności. Papież Franciszek mówi o kazusie cuchnącego oddechu i miażdżycy serca duchownego. Mówi o grzechu i zepsuciu. Korupcja wywołuje społeczny paraliż, za który płacą najubożsi. Franciszek stwierdza, że nie wystarczy skazywać skorumpowanych, ale trzeba także modlić się o ich nawrócenie.
The Pope, as the head of the Church and the head of the State, is obliged to undertake appropriate forms of criticism and counteract the improper functioning of the institutions of the Church and the State. The point is that the task of politics and the state is to strive for the common good, and one of its functions is to integrate society. In both cases, there must be undisturbed communication, and this is precisely what corruption is disturbing. In the teachings of Pope Francis, a corruption disorders a communication in a way that it creates crisis of trust and arouses suspicion among the people. It ignores the truth which is a guarantee of clarity and understanding. The corruption, that grows and continues to evolve, is transmissible and it justifies itself by creating its own doctrine. Corruption is a rejection of solidarity. Pope Francis says about halitosis and sclerosis of a spiritual heart. He says about a sin and a corruption. Corruption evokes a social paralysis, which unfortunately is paid for by the poorest. Francis claims that it is not enough to sentence corrupted people, but it is important to pray for their conversion.

W strukturach ludzkiego umysłu zawarte są prototypy wyglądu, porozumiewania się, rozwoju i funkcjonowania człowieka. Działają one jako swego rodzaju filtry kształtujące procesy percepcyjne. Uruchamiają podziały na swoich i obcych. Czasem prowadzą do marginalizacji ludzi uznawanych za innych. W niniejszej pracy poznawano poglądy dotyczące ludzi z wadami wymowy. Przeprowadzono badania sondażowe wśród kandydatek do zawodu nauczyciela. Stwierdzono, że badane osoby przejawiają relatywnie mały dystans wobec ludzi z wadą wymowy. Dostrzegają jednak szereg ich problemów.

According to knowledge about steretypes I analysed opinions about people with communication disorders. Respondents declared relatively litte distans to these group but they perceived many troubles in living people with communication disorders.

Autorka dokonuje przeglądu terminologii związanej z zaburzeniami semantycznymi i pragmatycznymi. Wskazuje, że zaburzenia te stanowią wyzwanie diagnostyczne, zwłaszcza gdy przyczyny i mechanizmy zaburzeń nie są jeszcze w pełni rozpoznane, a opisy objawów nie są wystarczająco pogłębione. Wymienia inne przyczyny trudności w diagnozowaniu, do których zalicza: brak pełnej zgodności między potrzebami praktyki, zmieniającym się stanem wiedzy a obowiązującymi klasyfikacjami medycznymi; brak szczegółowych norm rozwojowych dla rozwoju semantycznego i pragmatycznego (dla każdego języka naturalnego); trudności w ocenie i diagnozie zjawisk dotyczących sfery psychicznej; trudności w różnicowaniu subtelnych form zaburzeń czy trudności z normą. Na podstawie literatury przedmiotu omawia rozumienie terminu „zaburzenie semantyczno-pragmatyczne” (SPD), jego historię oraz próby dookreślania relacji SPD z autyzmem, zespołem Aspergera i SLI. Przedstawia podejście ukierunkowane na jednostki nozologiczne i podejście deskryptywne, przekrojowe. Referuje zmiany w diagnozowaniu zaburzeń autystycznych oraz według DSM-V. Porusza problem nazywania zaburzeń mowy w rozmowach z rodzicami, w okresie prediagnostycznym i postdiagnostycznym, gdy zaburzenie, według kryteriów medycznych, zostało wykluczone.
The article focuses on terminology related to semantic and pragmatic disorders. The author points out that semantic and pragmatic difficulties are a diagnostic challenge, especially when the causes and mechanisms are not yet fully identified and the descriptions of the symptoms are not sufficiently developed. She lists other reasons for difficulties in diagnosis, which include: lack of full compliance between the needs of the practice, changing knowledge and current medical classifications; lack of knowledge about semantic and pragmatic norms in child’s language development (for each natural language); difficulties in assessing and diagnosing mental disorders; difficulty in differentiating subtle forms of disorders with the norm. She discusses the understanding of the term “semantic-pragmatic disorder” (SPD) and attempts to specify its history and the relationship with autism, Asperger’s syndrome and SLI. The author presents an approach focused on nosological units and a descriptive approach. She refers to changes in the diagnosis of autism spectrum disorders and social communication disorders according to DSM-V. In the final part, the article raises a question of using the names of speech disorders in conversations with parents, in the prediagnostic and postdiagnostic period, when the disorder has been ruled out according to medical criteria.

The authors discuss in the article interpersonal communication in cohabitation relationships of women with a borderline personality disorder. 91 women aged between 21 and 40 who were in a consensual relationship participated in the research. The classification of the respondents to the criterion group was determined by the result obtained in the Borderline Personality Inventory (BPI) by F. Leichsenring in the Polish adaptation of Lidia Cierpiałkowska. 43 women were included in the criterion group, and the control group consisted of 48 women. The research also used the Marriage and Partnership Communication Questionnaire by Maria Kaźmierczak and Mieczysław Plopa. The analysis of the obtained results showed that women with borderline personality disorder show more depressing and less supportive and engaged communication behaviors compared to women without this disorder, both in self-perception and in the assessment of the partner’s communication behavior.

Spektrum autyzmu charakteryzuje się między innymi deficytami zdolności do inicjowania i podtrzymywania wzajemnych interakcji społecznych i komunikacji społecznej. Rozwój kompetencji komunikacyjnych dziecka ze spektrum autyzmu jest kluczowy, ponieważ przeciwdziała pojawieniu się lub zmniejsza intensywność i częstość zachowań uciążliwych czy agresywnych. Ponadto brak możliwości rozwoju komunikacji we wczesnym dzieciństwie niesie poważne ryzyko zaburzeń w dorosłości. Artykuł jest poświęcony kilku wybranym, opartym na dowodach naukowych, aktualnie stosowanych w Polsce, metodom diagnozy i terapii. Najpowszechniej używanymi instrumentami do postawienia diagnozy zaburzenia ze spektrum autyzmu stanowią narzędzia ADOS-2 (wystandaryzowany „Protokół obserwacji do diagnozowania zaburzeń ze spektrum autyzmu – druga edycja”) i ADI-R (kompleksowy, wystandaryzowany i częściowo ustrukturyzowany „Wywiad do Diagnozy Autyzmu – Wersja zrewidowana”). W Polsce do postawienia diagnozy funkcjonalnej wykorzystywany jest Profil Psychoedukacyjny PEP-3-PL. Do najlepiej przebadanych naukowo i skutecznych metod terapii w zakresie komunikacji dziecka autystycznego należą m.in. PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System) oraz ESDM (The Early Start Denver Model). Ważna jest świadomość różnej jakości podejść diagnostyczno-terapeutycznych oraz samych działań profesjonalistów. Najistotniejsze jednak jest to, aby odpowiednio zdiagnozować możliwości i potrzeby dziecka autystycznego i możliwie jak najwcześniej wprowadzać oddziaływania edukacyjno-terapeutyczne w zakresie komunikacji.
Autism spectrum disorder is typically characterized by deficits in the ability to initiate and maintain reciprocal social interaction and social communication. The development of communication skills of a child with autism is crucial because it prevents or reduces the intensity and frequency of disruptive or aggressive behavior. In addition, the lack of opportunities to develop communication in early childhood may inflict a serious risk of other problems in adulthood. The text is devoted to the selected methods of diagnosis and therapy, based on scientific evidence, and currently used in Poland. The most used instru-ments for diagnosing autism spectrum disorder are the ADOS-2 (standardized “Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule – Second Edition”) and ADI-R (comprehensive, standardized, and semi-structured “Autism Diagnostic Interview – Revised”). In Poland, the Psychoeducational Profile PEP-3-PL is used to carry out a functional diagnosis. The most scientifically researched and effective methods of therapy in the field of communication of an autistic child include PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System) and ESDM (The Early Start Denver Model). It is important to be aware of the different quality of diagnostic and therapeutic approaches and the activities of professionals. The most important thing, however, is to properly diagnose the abilities and needs of an autistic child and to introduce educational and therapeutic communication interactions as early as possible.

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by language and communication impairments, social impairments, and repetitive behaviours or restricted interests. Asperger syndrome (AS) included in ASD is characterized by significant difficulties in social interaction, along with restricted and repetitive patterns of behaviour and interests. It differs from other autism spectrum disorders by its relatively good linguistic and cognitive development. However, the observed language abnormalities observed in the Asperger syndrome comprise: pragmatics (application of language in social context), semantics (the meaning of what is being said) and prosody (rhythm, intonation and modulation of speech). Communication deficits include difficulties with using spoken language and gestures, inability to initiate and sustain appropriate conversation, and use of inappropriate, repetitive language. Other aspects of language, such as phonology or syntax, will not always show significant impairments, or deficiencies may be observed only in some groups of patients. The difference between formal linguistic skills (with regard to morphologic, phonologic and syntactic functions) and semantic-pragmatic skills is considerable. Communication deficits are most probably the consequence of difficulties within the integration between word-pertaining semantic information and the knowledge about the world and earlier experiences which are crucial for giving a differentiated sense to interpreted communications. One of the possible causes of the described problems may be atypical semantic processing patterns observed in groups of patients with the AS.
Spektrum zaburzeń autystycznych to grupa zaburzeń neurorozwojowych charakteryzujących się nieprawidłowościami w zakresie funkcji językowych i komunikacyjnych, deficytami funkcjonowania społecznego oraz powtarzalnymi zachowaniami i jednostronnymi zainteresowaniami. Zespół Aspergera (ZA) zaliczany do tej grupy zaburzeń charakteryzuje się występowaniem nasilonych problemów w zakresie interakcji społecznych oraz powtarzalnymi i sztywnymi wzorcami zainteresowań i aktywności. Różni się od innych zaburzeń ze spektrum autyzmu stosunkowo dobrym rozwojem w zakresie funkcji językowych i poznawczym. W obrazie klinicznym zespołu Aspergera obecne są jednak deficyty językowe w zakresie pragmatyki (używania języka w kontekście społecznym), semantyki (rozpoznawania różnych znaczeń tego samego słowa) oraz prozodii (rytmu, intonacji i modulacji mowy). Deficyty komunikacyjne odnoszą się zatem do trudności w używaniu języka mówionego i gestów, niemożności inicjowania i podtrzymywania adekwatnej konwersacji, używania nieadekwatnych do sytuacji i powtarzalnych zwrotów językowych. Inne funkcje językowe, np. fonologiczne oraz syntaktyczne, mogą nie wykazywać istotnych zaburzeń bądź deficyty można zaobserwować tylko w niektórych grupach pacjentów. Różnica pomiędzy formalnymi umiejętnościami językowymi (w zakresie funkcji morfologicznych, fonologicznych i syntaktycznych) a semantyczno- -pragmatycznymi jest wyraźna. Deficyty komunikacyjne są najprawdopodobniej konsekwencją trudności w zakresie integracji informacji semantycznych dotyczących słowa z wiedzą o świecie oraz z wcześniejszymi doświadczeniami, które są niezbędne do nadawania zróżnicowanego sensu interpretowanym komunikatom. Jedną z przypuszczalnych przyczyn opisywanych problemów mogą być atypowe wzorce przetwarzania semantycznego obserwowane w grupach pacjentów z ZA.

W przedstawionych badaniach własnych posłużono się autorskim kwestionariuszem dotyczącym rodzaju i częstotliwości występowania tego rodzaju problemów w odniesieniu do komunikacji werbalnej i niewerbalnej u dzieci z ASD.
The article presents the difficulties experienced by children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in the area of communicating their feelings and understanding emotional states in other people, according to teachers opinions. In the presented own research, the author’s questionnaire was used to explore the type and frequency of such problems in relation to verbal and non-verbal communication in children with ASD.

W artykule przybliżono zagadnienia dotyczące mowy i szerzej pojmowanego procesu komunikacji dzieci z zaburzeniem ze spektrum autyzmu. Scharakteryzowano prawidłowości rozwoju mowy i komunikacji dzieci z ASD. Starano się także ukazać konsekwencje zaburzonego rozwoju mowy przekładające się na funkcjonowanie psychospołeczne. Wyjaśniono, czym jest komunikacja alternatywna i wspomagająca, oraz wskazano wykorzystywane metody w terapii dzieci ze spektrum autyzmu.
The article presents issues related to speech and the more widely understood process of communication of children with the autism spectrum disorder. The determinants of speech development and communication of children with ASD were characterized. Efforts were also made to show the consequences of disturbed speech development translating into psychosocial functioning. The paper explains the notions of the alternative and augmentative communication and describes the most frequently used methods in the treatment of children with the autism spectrum disorder.

In the article there were presented the results of research conducted among the children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD), aged 4–7, in which there were used dance/movement therapy methods to promote creative movement and nonverbal communication. The research was based on works by different authors. They focused on the dynamics of development in childhood and dance/movement therapy in articulation with pedagogical methods for pupils with ASD. By observing and recording the sessions, it was possible to identify a qualitative evolution of nonverbal communication and creative movement in the participants. Based on the conducted research it was concluded that further studies using dance/movement therapy should be provided to identify and confirm the expansion and consistency of the evolution of creative movement.
W artykule przedstawiono wyniki badań przeprowadzonych wśród dzieci z zaburzeniami ze spektrum autyzmu (ASD) w wieku 4–7 lat, w których zastosowano metody terapii tańcem/ruchem w celu promowania kreatywnego ruchu i komunikacji niewerbalnej. Badanie oparto na pracach różnych autorów, w tym odwołujących się do dynamiki rozwoju w dzieciństwie i terapii tańcem/ruchem w artykulacji metodami pedagogicznymi wprowadzonymi u uczniów z ASD. Obserwując i rejestrując sesje, można było zidentyfikować jakościową ewolucję niewerbalnej komunikacji i kreatywnego ruchu u uczestników. Na podstawie przeprowadzonych badań stwierdzono, że należy przeprowadzić dalsze badania z wykorzystaniem terapii tańcem/ruchem w celu zidentyfikowania i potwierdzenia ekspansji i spójności ewolucji ruchu twórczego.

Przegląd obejmuje artykuły opublikowane w ciągu ostatnich 20 lat dotyczące kompetencji komunikacyjnych (w tym pragmatycznego użycia języka) osób z ADHD. Istnieje potencjalna zależność pomiędzy ADHD a używaniem języka w społecznym kontekście, czytaniem i pisaniem oraz rozpoznawaniem ekspresji twarzy. Większość artykułów sugeruje, że osoby z ADHD mają wiele problemów w społecznej komunikacji, jednak wyniki badań są niekonsekwentne, ponieważ część z nich wskazuje na brak takiej zależności. Przedyskutowano możliwe przyczyny tych rozbieżności. Badane grupy są heterogeniczne ze względu na różny stopień trudności i współwystępowanie zaburzeń. Dokonany przegląd wskazuje, że pomimo rozbieżności istnieją dowody na zależność pomiędzy ADHD a problemami w komunikacji. Sformułowano wskazania dla dalszych badań i praktyki psychologicznej i pedagogicznej.
This article review conducted over past 20 years on the communication competence (containing pragmatic language use) of people with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). There is potential association of ADHD with using language in social context, reading and writing, and recognition of facial expression. Most papers suggest that people with ADHD have a lot of problems in social communication but results of research are inconsistent, because some of them indicate no existence of differences. Possible reasons of this are discussed. Examined groups of people are heterogeneous because they have various levels of difficulty and different co-occuring impairments. The article concludes that in spite of discrepancy in research results, there are evidence for dependency between ADHD and communication problems. Some recommendations for future research and psychological and education practice are formulated.

Rośnie zainteresowanie programami terapeutycznymi opartymi na teatralnej grze, prowadzonymi w celu złagodzenia objawów ASD, a wraz z nim potrzeba stosowania oddziaływań opartych na dowodach. W niniejszym artykule zaprezentowano projekt teatroterapii skierowany do starszych dzieci z ASD i ich rodziców. Przedstawiono tu założenia, przebieg i opinie uczestników warsztatu teatroterapii, które zostały opisane przy użyciu dosłownych cytatów. Uzyskane obserwacje są obiecujące i wskazują, że dalsze badania ofert teatroterapii dla tej grupy uczestników są uzasadnione oraz mogą przynieść potencjalną poprawę funkcjonowania społeczno-emocjonalnego dzieci z ASD.
There is a growing interest in theater game-based therapeutic programs aimed at alleviating ASD symptoms and, in consequence, the need for evidence-based actions. This article presents a theater therapy project aimed at older children with ASD and their parents. The assumptions, the course and opinions of the participants of the theater therapy workshop were presented and described using direct quotations. The observations obtained are promising and indicate that further studies of theatrical therapy offers for this group of participants are justified and may bring about a potential improvement in the socio-emotional functioning of children with ASD.

Patient aged 34 was referred to the Department of Adult Psychiatry, Poznañ University of Medical Sciences, for observation of his psychiatric condition. At the age of 6 he was hospitalized with diagnosis of reactive depression. For many years he has been treated as outpatient with different diagnoses – initially infant schizophrenia was suspected, later the neurotic disorders, connected with microorganic changes, as well as neurotical personality development and difficulties in adaptation to peer group and to school requirements as well as disharmonic intellectual development. When the patient was hospitalized in the ward it was observed: inappropriate development of social interactions, difficulties in understanding and using interaction, rules with other people as well as inappropriate verbal and nonverbal aspects of communication, with expression, irrelevant to the social situation. Ritual actions, backward movements and limited interests were also noticed. The patient was diagnosed with Asperger syndrome. Thanks to that he obtained status of the disabled person and was able to get an appropriate job.
Pacjent, lat 34, został skierowany do Kliniki Psychiatrii Dorosłych Akademii Medycznej w Poznaniu w celu obserwacji stanu psychicznego. W wieku 6 lat był hospitalizowany z rozpoznaniem depresji reaktywnej. Przez wiele lat był leczony w Poradni Zdrowia Psychicznego, gdzie wysuwano podejrzenie schizofrenii dziecięcej, potem rozpoznano zaburzenia nerwicowe na podłożu zmian mikroorganicznych, następnie neurotyczny rozwój osobowości i związane z tym trudności adaptacyjne zarówno do grupy rówieśniczej, jak i do wymogów szkolnych oraz dysharmonijny rozwój intelektu. Podczas obserwacji na oddziale stwierdzono upośledzenie socjalizacji – nieprawidłowy rozwój interakcji społecznych, trudności w zrozumieniu i stosowaniu reguł interakcji z innymi ludźmi, a także nieprawidłowości w zakresie komunikacji werbalnej i niewerbalnej, wypowiedzi niedostosowane do sytuacji społecznej. Zaobserwowano także wykonywanie czynności rytualnych, jak również upośledzenie sprawności ruchowej i zawężenie zainteresowań. Rozpoznano zespół Aspergera, dzięki czemu pacjent mógł otrzymać status osoby niepełnosprawnej i podjąć odpowiednią pracę.
