Opis:
The article deals with the simplest, least philosophically engaged, attempts to define analogy. The author is skeptical as far as the possibility of reducing analogy to the linguistic equipment of logic or of enclosing it in any formal schemes is concerned. Looking for the ontic basis of analogy, he shows its possible rooting in objects. In doing so he employs the notions of idea and model as defined by himself. He suggests an irreplaceable role of analogy in scientific reflection.

Questions of attraction to tasks of aviation technical designing of the regularities of general nature which are earlier not used in this field which are on a joint of basic problems of modern natural sciences, technology, philosophy and the new directions of science which treat, for example, synergy, and others are considered. A conceptual design of civil and transport airplanes with representations of the seven basic laws of the design is offered: 1. Thought or mental associated with the formation of the idea, as well as the visualization of forms and structures designed object. 2. The law of analogies. 3. The Law of Vibration. 4. The law of opposites. 5. The law of cycles and rhythms. 6. The Law of Cause and Effect. 7. Law of design and creativity. The approach to formation of new hierarchy of the criteria of design based on the analysis and synthesis of these laws is also offered. The task of the structural formation and composition of the energy space design, allowing determining the grid of power lines and types of elementary energy and the crystal structures of the elements is considered. Seven basic laws of design are presented and described on a number of examples. The space of design is described with use of the scheme of the Tree of Life divided into ten Spheres of the Worlds which are forming four levels of manifestation: the Design ideas; Realization of Ideas (thinking process); Radiation (including emotions and feelings); Action (implementation), and also division of each of these spheres into sublevels. Possibility of calculation and use of discrete power levels to the description and characteristics of the projected products, and tendencies to replacement of usual options on integrated, hybrid and morphing are shown.

Artykuł podejmuje zagadnienie podstaw i specyfiki analogiczności języka metafizyki, w głównej mierze w oparciu o dorobek naukowy Mieczysława A. Krąpca. Artykuł został podzielony na dwie części: w pierwszej zaprezentowano rozumienie analogii bytu oraz poznania, natomiast w drugiej przedstawiono kwestie dotyczące analogii orzekania oraz „dorzeczności” języka metafi zyki. Dzięki przeprowadzonym analizom ukazano, iż po pierwsze: język metafizyki jest językiem analogicznym, ponieważ posługuje się rozbudowaną strukturą analogii (analogii bytu, analogii poznania oraz analogii orzekania); po drugie: język metafizyki jest językiem „dorzecznym”, ponieważ naprowadza na widzenie bytu (rzeczy).
This article presents the grounds for and specificity of analogical character of the language of metaphysics mainly on the basis of the research output compiled by Mieczysław A. Krąpiec. The article has been divided into two parts: the first part presents the interpretation of the analogy of being and cognition whereas the second part presents the analogy of predication and ‚thing-directing’ of the language of metaphysics. The analyses that have been conducted indicate that the language of metaphysics is primarily the analogical language since it uses elaborated structure of analogy (the analogy of being, the analogy of cognition, and the analogy of predication), and secondly, the language of metaphysics is the ‚thing-directed’ language since it suggests visual perception of being (a thing).

W artykule opisane zostały cztery kategorie analogii w refleksji Hansa Ursa von Balthasara: analogia entis, analogia fidei, analogia libertatis i analogia caritatis. Każda z tych kategorii została przeanalizowana w perspektywie towarzyszących jej paradoksów: paradoks jedności-wielości (nieudzielności-udzielności), paradoks universale concretum, paradoks wolności skończonej i nieskończonej, paradoks krzyża i zstąpienia do piekieł. Zasada analogii została tu skonfrontowana z metodą dostrzegania paradoksu  i związanej z nim tajemnicy. Każde z zagadnień omówione zostało z uwzględnieniem źródeł myśli Balthasara (Anzelm, Przywara, Barth, de Lubac, von Speyr) i ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem jego oryginalnej refleksji. Pozwoliło to wyciągnąć wniosek dotyczący centralnego miejsca analogii miłości w koronnym dziele Balthasara, zwanym Trylogią.
The article examines four categories of analogy in the reflection of Hans Urs von Balthasar: analogia entis, analogia fidei, analogia libertatis and analogia caritatis. Each of these categories has been analyzed in the perspective of the accompanying paradoxes: the paradox of unitymultiplicity (incommunicability-communicability), the paradox of universale concretum, the paradox of finite and infinite freedom, the paradox of the cross and of the descent into hell. The principle of analogy has been confronted here with the method of perceiving the paradox and the mystery related to it. Each of the above problems has been discussed taking into account the sources of Balthasar’s thought (Anselm, Przywara, Barth, de Lubac, von Speyr) and with particular emphasis on his original reflection. This allows for a conclusion about the central place of the analogy of love in Balthasar’s crowning work called The Trilogy.

This paper contains a few critical remarks concerning some fundamental assumptions and claims propagated by Lakoff and Núñez in their monograph Lakoff, Núñez (2000). Our attitude is skeptical (cf. also Pogonowski,2011). We agree with the idea that conceptual metaphors may play some role in the formation of elementary mathematical notions. However, we disagree with the authors’ claim that such metaphors provide the main mechanism in the emergence of new notions in advanced mathematics.

The paper looks at various aspects of the so-called Latin-English analogy and particularly at the ways in which English may share the fate of Latin in ultimately becoming a victim of its own success. A critical factor in the history of Latin was a conceptual split between its native and non-native varieties, which eventually proved instrumental in establishing its reputation as a dead language. The author wishes to argue that current proposals for a codification of English as a Lingua Franca, aimed at providing vast numbers of L2 learners with a pedagogical alternative that does not emulate L1 standards, may be regarded as major steps towards making English a new Latin: creating a similar split between native versus foreigners' English.

The essay examines the description of virtue as a craft that governs the proper use of possessions in Plato’s Euthydemus and Stoicism. In the first part, I discuss Socrates’ parallel between wisdom and the crafts in the Euthydemus, and the resulting argument concerning the value of external and bodily possessions. I then offer some objections, showing how Socrates’ craft analogy allows one to think of possessions as (qualifiedly) good and ultimately fails to offer a defense of virtue’s sufficiency for happiness. In the second part, I examine the Stoics’ craft analogy and note a number of differences from Socrates’ account in the Euthydemus. These include the Stoic claim that external advantages never make any contribution to happiness, even when properly used, and the claim that, unlike other crafts, wisdom does not require any external possessions in order to be exercised and yield benefit and happiness. I then place these differences against the backdrop of the debate regarding virtue’s sufficiency for happiness and argue that the Stoic craft model of virtue fares better than its Socratic antecedent.

The present paper analyses changes in Russian word stress in adjectives. Evolution of he accentual system can be observed in particular groups of adjectives: compounds with -плавильный, -прядильный components, within adjectives formed from nouns with suffixes -ов, -ев (мальчиковый, тигровый) and short forms of adjectives. The analyzed process of stress changing in Russian language can be caused by different intra-linguistic and extra-linguistic tendencies, which are discussed in the article.

In this article I present some applications of analogy with reference to intercultural dialogue, firstly as a process in which the familiar structure of a direct experience in one situation improves awareness of an expected experience within another structure. Secondly, I follow the Enrique Dussel’s approach according to which where analogy is the key element of a true dialogue. In the paper conceptions of Ryszard Kapuściński, Martin Buber, Józef Tischner are presented in the context of intercultural dialogue and are applied to Yuko Abe’s analysis of students exchange experiences.

The paper analyzes the phenomenon of heat transfer and its inertia in solids. The influence of this effect on the operation of an integrated circuit is described. The phenomenon is explained using thermal analogy implemented in the Spice environment by an R-C thermal model. Results from the model are verified by some measurements with a chip designed in CMOS 0.7 μm (5 V) technology. The microcontroller-based measurement system structure and experiment results are described.

A metaphor within the framework of semiotics can be embodied in various semiotic systems, which is a prerequisite for a multilateral, in-depth analysis of its generation and interpretation. The purpose of the article is the conceptualisation of metaphor in the framework of semiotics and analysis using methods of analogy and transference. One of the main problems of metaphor theory is to provide means to represent the process of metaphor generation for understanding the nature of the phenomenon. The use of the offered methods in metaphor generation and interpretation opens up a multifaceted understanding of the object under study.

Solutions based on “equivalence interference” are proposed for various problems involving OE verbs. WG verbs with 1SG /-ͻͻmi/ were modeled on Celtic verbs with /-aami/. Pre-OE eode is from /eiͻͻde/, analogical to 1SG /eiͻͻmi/ from /eimi/. OE dyd- is from reinterpretation of peasant /dïd-/, from low-stressed /ded-/ used as a non-emphatic periphrastic, as noble /düd-/. WG /bii-/ ‘be’ was modeled on Celtic /bii-/ ‘(habitual-future) be’. Habitual-future /bi-/ (lost on the continent) re-developed in OE on the model of habitual-future /bi-/ in Brittonic. The English rule that non-indicative forms of BE are /b/-forms is from Brittonic. 3PL bi(o)đon was modeled on Brittonic /biđont/. Pre-OE /ist/ and /im/ were influenced by Brittonic /is/ and /æm/. Loss of distinct endings before 1PL and 2PL subject pronouns and loss of distinct preterit subjunctive endings were both modeled on their analogues in Brittonic.

On the rhetorical power of combining religious and political motives in the analogies and examples used in the sermons inaugurating the parliaments of the pre-partition era The subject of the article are sermons delivered during the inauguration of the Polish Sejms of the pre-partition era. The content and selection of the linguistic means used in these speeches are known from the reports contained in the parliamentary diaries, especially those created in the 18th century. Preachers combined political and religious threads using the form of analogy and example. The former are always aimed at connecting the spheres of the sacred and the profane. Clergy refer to the truths of faith or ethical concepts and categories as well as to the liturgical calendar, and also use polysemy. In turn, the sources of examples are biblical characters and events and the saints of the Catholic Church.

Analogy as a structure of thinking and analogy as a type of reasoning are differentiated in science. In practice, however, reasoning by analogy depends on analogical thinking. Analogical thinking is a heuristic aspect of reasoning by analogy. Analogous thinking gives reasoning a creative character. This study shows the genetic relationship between reasoning by analogy and heuristic thinking. We reconstructed basic the heuristic structure, which is the foundation of reasoning by analogy. The semantic character of this structure allows us, by reasoning by analogy, to gradually move from ambiguity to an increasing determination of the system based on the target – the goal, based on his partial resemblance to the arrangement – the source. The author of this work analyzes the classic model of heuristic thinking used in reasoning by analogy.
W nauce odróżnia się analogię jako strukturę myślenia i analogię jako pewien typ ro-zumowania. W praktyce jednak analogiczne myślenie i rozumowanie wzajemnie współza-leżą od siebie. Analogiczne myślenie jest heurystycznym aspektem rozumowania przez analogię. Analogiczne myślenie przydaje temu rozumowaniu twórczego charakteru. W pracy pokazano genetyczną zależność rozumowania przez analogię od heurystycznego myślenia. Zrekonstruowano podstawową heurystyczną strukturę, na której nabudowuje się rozumowanie przez analogię. Semantyczny charakter tej struktury umożliwia, w rozumowaniu przez analogię, stopniowe przechodzenie od nieokreśloności, do coraz pełniejszej determinacji treściowej układu – celu, na podstawie jego częściowego podobieństwa do układu – źródła. Autor niniejszej pracy poddaje analizie klasyczny model heurystycznego myślenia, stosowany w rozumowaniu przez analogię.
