The aim of this work was to study the microstructure and functional properties of CuNi2Si1 alloy. The material was prepared classically by melting, casting, hot rolling and cold rolling. The obtained strips were processed with combined operations of supersaturation, ageing and one of the intensive deformation method - repetitive corrugation and straightening. The efficiency of RCS operation in shaping of functional properties in precipitation hardened copper alloys depends not only on tool geometry and operating parameters but also on whether and at what stage of strip production the supersaturation operation was applied. Application of the supersaturation before RCS operation broadens the potential to shape the set of functional properties. Comparable functional properties of the precipitation hardened copper alloy strips can be reached without application of the supersaturation operation in their manufacturing processes. The process of RCS applied after annealing, and the potentially slightly lower mechanical properties would be compensated by higher electrical conductivity.

In this study, the microstructures and mechanical properties of X70 pipeline steels produced with varying Mo contents, accelerated cooling rate and intermediate slab blank thickness are systematically investigated. Results showed that the microstructures and mechanical properties of the X70 pipeline steels were strongly affected by Mo addition. The pearlite and proeutectoid ferrite formation is obviously inhibited in containing-Mo steel and the acicular ferrite (AF) is obtained in a wide range of cooling rates. With the increasing the cooling rates, the AF constituent amount increases. The grains can be refined by increasing the thickness of intermediate slab for enhancing the cumulative reduction rates, and meanwhile increase the number density of precipitates. It was proved by simulation and industrial trials that the low-alloy X70 pipeline steels can be produced increasing cooling rates and the thickness of intermediate slab without strength and toughness degradation which also reduce alloy cost.

The paper deals with the fabrication of the surface layer enriched with Zn on AlSi17 aluminium alloy to modify the microstructure and surface properties of the alloy. The continuous surface layer was fabricated on the AlSi17 substrate by the hot-dip galvanizing of AlSi17 for 15min in a Zn bath heated to 450°C. The thickness of the layer was about 100 μm. The layer was characterised by a multi-component microstructure containing the regions of a solid solution of Al in Zn and dendrites of a eutectoid composed of a solid solution of Al in Zn and a solid solution of Zn in Al. In the layer, fine particles of Si with a regular shape were distributed. The results indicated that these Si particles formed by the action of Zn on the eutectic Si precipitations in the AlSi17 substrate. In the microstructure, large primary Si crystals and multi-phase precipitations, originating from the substrate, were also observed. The surface layer had much higher microhardness than the AlSi17 substrate. The results showed that hot-dip galvanizing can be used to modify the microstructure and properties of the surface layer of AlSi17. The study indicates the possibility of conducting further research on the fabrication of joints between AlSi17 and other metallic materials using a Zn interlayer fabricated by hot-dip galvanizing.

This paper presents experimental testing of the mechanical characteristics and properties of samples made of high-strength low-alloy steel with two different multi pass V grove butt welded joint. Two sample groups are tested: the root pass is made by manual metal arc welding process for the former and metal inert gas welding process for the latter. Other passes of those multi passes welded joints are made by metal active gas welding process. Further, the research included analyses of the experimentally obtained mechanical properties and load response of the samples in correlations to microhardness distribution and microstructural state at specific zones of the welded joints. Since both the chemical composition and microstructural state of high-strength low-alloy steel originate from special production processes their nature must be fully understood. Accordingly, the nature of the steels should directly impact not only the selection and definition of welding but the design process of mechanical constructions, too. From the practical aspect, mechanical characteristics and properties as well as load response of welded joints are crucial. But, sensitivity of those steels to inadequate welding technology and improper parameters or filler metal is high. On the other side, design codes and recommendations are not yet fully developed and precise. Results obtained in this research implicate that even small changes of welding technology causes the change of characteristics itself. Consequently, the steels development must be accompanied with the improvement of the welding processes and design modifications.

Opis:
The paper describes the results of structure and properties tests of flat bars made of alloy WE43 obtained in the process of extrusion with the use of KOBO method. An analysis of structure changes was conducted both in initial state and after plastic deformation. A quantitative analysis of the material was also conducted with the use of METILO program. The paper also presents results of mechanical tests marked in the uniaxial tensile testing in room temperature and in elevated temperature for achieved flat bars. Fractographic tests were conducted after tensile test in order to determine the mechanism of cracking.

In this paper the development and method of production of modern, Ni-free sintered structural steels containing Cr, Mn and Mo, enabling the production of structural sintered steels in industrial conditions, using safe, with low H2-content, sintering atmospheres is presented. For this purpose, the analysis of microstructure and mechanical properties of these sintered structural steels produced in different processing conditions and also the connections between the microstructure of sintered material and its mechanical properties, was presented. Following the investigations, the appropriate chemical composition of sintered Ni-free steels with properties which are comparable or even better than those of sintered structural steels containing rich and carcinogenic nickel was choosen. Additionally, in the paper the properties of electrolitically coated carbon steels were presented, as the beginning of investigation for improving the mechanical properties of alloyed, structural sintered steels.

A cold roll bonding process is applied to fabricate an AA6061/AA5052/AA6061/AA5052multi-layer sheet. Two AA6061 and two AA5052 sheets with 2mm thickness are stacked alternately to each other, and reduced to a thickness of 2 mm by multi-pass cold rolling. The roll bonded multi-layer sheet is then hardened by natural aging (T4) and artificial aging (T6) treatments. The as roll-bonded sheet shows a typical deformation structure that the grains are elongated to the rolling direction. However, after T4 and T6 aging treatments, it has a recrystallization structure consisting of the coarse equiaxed grains in both AA5052 and AA6061 sheets. The as rolled material shows a lamella structure in which AA5052 and AA6061 sheets are stacked alternately to each other, having higher hardness in AA5052 than in AA6061. However, T4 and T6 aging treated materials show a different lamella structurein which the hardness of the AA6061 layers is higher than that of the AA5052 layers. The strengths of the T4 and T6 age-treated specimens are found to increase by 1.3 and 1.5 times respectively, compared to that of the starting material.

Cu-2wt%Ag alloy with diameter of 10 mm was fabricated by induction heating directional solidification (IHDS). The effect of different mold temperatures on microstructure of IHDS Cu-2wt%Ag alloy was investigated. The results show that IHDS Cu-2wt%Ag alloy is mainly composed of coarse columnar grains at mold temperature of 1075°C. While the mold temperature is at 1100°C, 1150°C and 1200°C, respectively, the IHDS Cu-2wt%Ag alloy is composed of columnar grains and equiaxed grains and the number of grains increases. Meanwhile, the growth direction of columnar grains in the edge of alloys deviates from the direction of continuous casting to form “V” shape. While the mold temperature is controlled at high temperature, the induced current increases, which leads to the enhancement of eddy current in the mold. Therefore, the dendrites fall off to form new grains under the effect of eddy stirring, resulting in an increasing in the number of grains.

In the present study, Ti6Al4V titanium alloy plates were joined using robotic fiber laser welding method. Pre- and post-weld heat treatments were applied to laser welded joints. After welding stress relieving, solution heat treatment and ageing were also applied to preheated laser welded samples. Effects of heat treatment conditions on microstructural characteristics and mechanical properties of robotic fiber laser welded joints were studied. Aged samples were found to be made of coarsened grains compared to microstructures of non-aged samples. There were increases in ductility and impact toughness of samples applied to ageing increased, while hardness and tensile strength of non-aged samples were higher. The highest value for tensile strength and for impact toughness in welded samples have been identified as 840 MPa and 27 J, respectively. Fractures in tensile test samples and base metal impact test samples took place in the form of ductile fracture, while laser welded impact test samples had fractures in the mode of intergranular fractures with either a quasi-cleavage type or tear ridges. EDS analysis carried out for all heat treatment conditions and welding parameters demonstrated that major element losses were not observed in base metal, HAZ and weld metal.

This article presents the results of investigations on HR6W alloy and Sanicro 25 steel and the dissimilar welded joint made of them. The characteristic images of microstructure of the investigated materials in the as-received condition and following the creep test, observed with a scanning electron microscope (SEM), are shown. The X-ray analysis of phase composition of the existing precipitates was carried out. The method for evaluation of creep strength based on abridged creep tests carried out at a temperature higher than the design one is presented. The obtained results do not deviate from the values of creep strength determined in long-term creep tests. The maximum difference in creep strength of the investigated materials is ±20%, which is in compliance with the acceptable scatter band. The methodology presented can be used for verification of creep strength (life time) of the material of finished components to be operated under creep conditions.

Effects of solution treatment on room temperature mechanical properties were studied in cast AZ91 (Mg-9%Al-1%Zn-0.2%Mn) and AZ91-0.5%Ca alloys. In as-cast state, the Ca addition contributed to the suppression of discontinuous β phase precipitation and the formation of Al2 Ca phase. After solution treatment, the AZ91 alloy had only a small amount of Al8 Mn5 particles, while β and Al2 Ca phases were still present in the Ca-containing alloy. In as-cast state, the AZ91-0.5%Ca alloy showed better yield strength and hardness than the AZ91 alloy. The solution treatment increased the elongation in both alloys, which eventually led to the increase in ultimate tensile strength. The solution treatment resulted in a marked decrease in yield strength and hardness in the AZ91 alloy, whereas the decrements in those values were relatively negligible in the Ca-containing alloy due to the residual phases and solution hardening effect of Ca.

Opis:
The effect of the strain path on the microstructure and the texture evolution of the severely deformed AA3104 aluminium alloy was investigated by a transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and a high resolution scanning electron microscopy (SEMFEG) equipped with the electron backscattered diffraction facility. A commercial purity material was deformed at room temperature via equal channel angular pressing up to 10 passes, following the routes A, BC, and C. A good quality billet after 10 passes was obtained only in the case of route C. In the case of route A and BC, macro-cracking appeared after 5 and 3 passes, respectively. Although the different routes led to differences in the microstructure of the billets, the global texture evolution turned out to follow nearly the same course. The TEM observations and the SEMFEG local orientation measurements allowed to identify the misoriented planar dislocation arrangements in all the samples. Their instability within some narrow areas led to the kink-type bands, which were precursors of the shear bands. The influence of the second phase particles on the deformation microstructure and the local texture depended on the particle size. Irrespective of the applied deformation routes, the large (>5 μm), not deformable second phase particles influenced the strengthening of the matrix by forming local distortions in their vicinity, whereas the fine dispersoids (∼50 nm) had a visibly unclear effect on the dislocation structures formed in the examined strain range.
W pracy analizowano wpływ zmiany drogi odkształcenia na ewolucję mikrostruktury i tekstury silnie odkształcanych próbek stopu aluminium - AA3104, wykorzystując techniki transmisyjnej (TEM) i skaningowej (SEMFEG) mikroskopii elektronowej. Materiał o czystości technicznej odkształcano w temperaturze otoczenia, w matrycy równo kątowej (ECAP) do 10-ciu przepustów, wg drogi A, BC oraz C. Wyniki prowadzonych analiz pokazują, że jedynie w przypadku drogi C uzyskano po 10-ciu przepustach dobry jakościowo wstępniak. W przypadku drogi A i BC po 5 i 3 przepustach, odpowiednio, pojawiały się obserwowane makroskopowo pęknięcia. Pomimo, że zróżnicowane drogi odkształcenia prowadzą do silnego zróżnicowania w obrazie mikrostruktury, ewolucja tekstury globalnej jest podobna. Obserwacje mikrostrukturalne prowadzone w skali TEM oraz pomiary orientacji lokalnych z wykorzystaniem techniki SEMFEG dokumentują formowanie się płaskich układów dyslokacyjnych, niezależnie od zastosowanego schematu odkształcenia. Dodatkowo obserwowana wewnątrz wąskich obszarów niestabilność tych struktur prowadzi do pojawienia się pasm ugięcia które są prekursorami pasm ścinania. Wpływ cząstek drugiej fazy na ewolucję struktury odkształcenia oraz zmiany w lokalnym obrazie tekstury w pobliżu cząstek, silnie uzależnione są od rozmiaru cząstek. Jednakże, niezależnie od zastosowanego schematu odkształcenia, duże (>5 μm) nieodkształcalne cząstki silnie determinują umocnienie osnowy w ich bezpośrednim sąsiedztwie, podczas gdy wpływ drobnych wydzieleń dyspersyjnych (∼50 nm) nie jest jasno zdefiniowany.

Pre-alloyed Astaloy CrLTM (Fe-1.5 wt% Cr-0.2 wt% Mo), a commercial Fe-based alloy powder for high strength powder metallurgy products, was sintered and hot forged with additions of 0.5 wt% C and 0~2 wt% Cu. To investigate the influence of various Cu contents, the microstructural evolution was characterized using density measurements, scanning electron microscope (SEM) and electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD). Transverse rupture strength (TRS) was measured for each composition and processing stage. The correlation between Cu additions and properties of sinter-forged Fe-Cr-Mo-C alloy was discussed in detail.

The paper analyses the characteristics of plasticity and microstructure of magnesium alloys with lithium meant for hot plastic working with different lithium content. The alloys were prepared in conditions of vacuum smelting. Achieved ingots were subject to hot extrusion. Tests on Gleeble simulator were conducted to assess the susceptibility of tested alloys to plastic forming in conditions of hot plastic working. For tested alloy the activation energy was marked for hot plastic deformation and plasticity characteristics in function of Zener-Hollomon parameter. After the analysis of the influence of temperature on the deformability of tested alloys it was stated that the alloy containing 8%Li (LAZ831) has better susceptibility to plastic treatment than alloy containing 4%Li (LAZ431), but higher than in case of classic magnesium alloys - AZ31.

Opis:
This paper studied the effect of laser welding technology on dissimilar metal welding joints of TA15 titanium alloy and Inconel 718 nickel-based alloy. The research results indicate that the laser welding of TA15 titanium alloy and Inconel 718 nickel-based alloy directly was difficult to form well, which due to the intermetallic compounds caused the joint brittle. When the pure Cu foil was used as the filling layer, the quality of the welding joints can be improved effectively. The experimental results also indicate that there were brittle intermetallic-compounds in the laser welding seam, and the laser power had an important influence on the performance and mechanical properties of the dissimilar metal joint. The maximum average tensile strength of the welding joint of 2300 W was increased to 252.32 MPa. Scanning electron microscope(SEM) results show that the fracture morphology was river pattern, a typical morphological of cleavage fracture, and the mode was brittle fracture.
