Opis:
This paper presents the methodology and research results on identification of potential users of the ESABALT system, which is targeted towards improving the situational awareness in the Baltic Sea region. We describe the technique of analysing the stakeholders involved in maritime sector processes, especially in maritime transport processes, while also taking into account their different classification criteria. The resulting list of stakeholders is used to identify system users and their classification into user profiles groups. This study will form the basis for the identification of user requirements of the ESABALT system.

Artykuł dotyczy zagadnienia projektowania elastycznych, skalowalnych i przyjaznych dla użytkownika systemów integrujących rozproszone, heterogeniczne zasoby informacyjne. W artykule starano się wykazać, że opracowanie takiego systemu jest bardziej złożone niż zaprojektowanie rozwiązania tradycyjnego opartego na centralnej bazie danych. Omówiono architekturę modelu integracyjnego oraz proces projektowania systemu opartego na tym modelu. Implementacja takiego rozwiązania może przynieść organizacji szereg korzyści: łatwiejszy dostęp do wielu źródeł informacji, dostęp dla uprzednio zdefiniowanych, jak i niezdefiniowanych użytkowników, możliwość formułowania zapytań ad hoc, standaryzację dostępu do zasobów informacyjnych, dostęp do informacji przechowywanych w różnych systemach w czasie rzeczywistym, ułatwienie kooperacji pomiędzy partnerami biznesowymi. Jednak proces przygotowania systemu integrującego wymaga opracowania modułów realizujących poszczególne zadania cząstkowe składające się na proces integracji w niejednorodnym i rozproszonym środowisku, m.in.: opracowanie przyjaznego dla użytkownika języka zapytań i sposobu formułowania zapytań, opracowanie struktury ontologii i metod jej modyfikacji, przygotowania słowników, konwerterów zapytań czy integratorów.
In the paper the problem of designing flexible, scalable and user-friendly systems integrating distributed and heterogeneous information resources is described. It is justified that the elaboration of such systems is more complex than in case of traditional solutions based on central database. The example of the architecture of integrating model and the process of the creation of a system based on the model are discussed. Implementation of such integrating system may give a considerable number of benefits to organisation: easier access to various information resources, access for previously defined and undefined users, the possibility to formulate ad hoc queries, standardisation of an access to information resources, an access to data and information stored in various systems in real time, the facilitation of cooperation between business partners. However, the process requires elaboration of modules that perform individual tasks constituting the whole process of searching information resources in heterogeneous and distributed sources, e.g.: elaboration of a user query language and the method of queries formulation, establishing the structure of the ontology and methods of its on-line modification, preparing dictionaries, queries converters and integrator module.

The paper presents the training system design process as a part of the management system. The authors describe the essential characteristics of the design process. The process of training design involves series of successive steps which result in a set of data forming the training cycle project. It contains a set of assumptions, conditions, objectives and measures that lead to the objectives achievement. The project should be dedicated to a particular sportsman and not to a training group or a sports discipline, as well as it should not include detailed solutions, especially as for training means selection. The paper presents also the 7-step algorithm of the training system design process. The last section of the paper presents the software simplified algorithm and comments on its use.

The article considers the relevance of the ideas of modern informational science to the study of social development phenomenon, the definition of trends and perspectives of the globalization of communicative processes. The problems have been investigated in the context of interdisciplinary ideas, the role of informational science as a general scientific program has been revealed, information parameters of the communicative environment of global society have been analyzed. Purpose. The efficiency of using different types of informational activity in the study of the society globalization has been analyzed, the role of the semantic and pragmatic essence of information, its content in the process of world information exchange have been determined. Methods. Methods used in the article are as follows: system analysis, historical method, reasoning by analogy, generalization. Results. It has been proved that the use of information science methodology in the research of social development phenomenon allows one to outline new communicative strategies and managerial guidelines, to defines tendecies and prospects of the global information society. Information modeling of communicative processes will allow increasing the level of information representativeness and reliability, predicting conditions and circumstances of the information use in different regions of the world and various spheres of social activity.

The aim of the paper is to reconstruct the category of “information quality” and to attempt answering the question: how are employee’s attitudes towards organisational change related to the quality of information concerning that process in the context of enterprises’ competitiveness? The secondary data analysis method – covering theoretical literature and numerous empirical studies results – is applied to attain the above-mentioned research aims. The results of conducted analysis are presented in the following order. Firstly, the category of ‘information quality’ is conceptualised, the factors which influence the information quality are identified and the authors’ scheme for analysing the information quality is proposed. Secondly, the view on employees’ attitudes towards organisational change is presented. Thirdly, the conditions of the information transmission in the organisational change process are analysed. Further, conceptual remarks on the influence of information quality on attitudes towards organisational change are presented on the background of previous research results. Since the idea of incorporating the concept of information quality in the theoretical considerations and empirical models in the area of research on attitudes towards organisational change seems to be promising, the authors propose the directions of further research in the final part of the paper.

Discussions regarding the notion of information have died out several years ago. However an agreement hasn’t been reached on the exact meaning of such a term. Most often the notion of information is understood as: 1) knowledge about structure of an object, 2) third appearance of the substance, 3) perceptible difference between objects. These interpretations are not exclusive, but there is not one theory that combine them. In cognitive psychology notion of information is perceived as a paradigm. At the same time its meaning is often equated with the concept of mental process, or the content of such mental process. Mental activity and in particular intellectual activity generally is recognized and equated with processing of an information. Such interpretation ignores the fact that information cannot be processed directly because it doesn’t exist without a carrier. In fact these carriers undergo processing. The new information based on re-configuration of carrier’s structure could be re-developed. The carriers are mental representations of the carried content and they represent themselves as icons, symbols and concepts. Hence the mental activity is the processing (sometimes creating) representations.

The article presents the author's model of evaluation of the quality of documents in quality management systems. Among others, descriptions of processes that provide users with information on the course or completion of a process are used in management systems for purposes of standardization of processes. In relation to the information satiety curve showing that once a certain level of amount of information is achieved, the quality of decisions taken on the basis of such information decreases, a problem arises with defining such an amount of information in a process description, in order to ensure as rational level for control, as possible. To achieve that, the author suggests a model whose main objective is to automate the activities of designating the characteristics of the process description (information quality) for a specific instance of a process. The initial elements of the model are activities of gathering the data on the process's features and the data on information related requirements of the executors of processes. Later on, the socalled information vector, pointing to a given type of description of a process, must be specified. Then, the types of descriptions of processes are linked with homoge-neous groups of processes that were specified on the basis of parameters that characterize processes.

The article attempts to indicate the direction of ERP class information systems development. From the beginning, these systems have been changing and evolving. Along with the development of requirements and changes on the market, solutions known as ERP II and ERP III were created. Currently, these systems use a process approach. Three basic types of systems can be distinguished: ERP systems supporting processes, process-oriented ERP systems and process ERP systems. This paper aims to describe the concept of fractal marketing as a set of typical, schematic and repetitive market activities taken by companies in the area of: pricing, promotion, product features and distribution. The knowledge has been recited like a mantra to college students over the recent years, regardless of the social, economic, political and economic changes taking place in the business environment. However, the new generation does not expect goods producers to run catchy commercials on TV or the radio, but to present reliable and trustworthy information about their products. Therefore, the new form of marketing was named post-marketing and it is proposed that it should be included in the curricula of business management departments as an obligatory subject. This article presents the possibilities of applying the consolidated theory for the purposes of developing ways of increasing the effectiveness of marketing activities, and the presented scope of research may be implemented in other areas where there is a need for unconventional ways of processing data coming from various fields in order to obtain information that will help managers to take the right decisions. Such knowledge may also contribute to increasing the attractiveness of studies in business management departments in various universities.

Having precise understanding of how business processes are performed in real-life is an important input for decision makers and consequently is a strong competitive advantage for an organization. In the constantly changing modern business environment it is crucial to provide that information as soon as possible, preferably in the real-time mode. In practice, such kind of tasks are usually resolved by means of Business Intelligence solutions implemented either from scratch or based upon customizable packages. Despite of the wide range currently available types of data visualizations, modern BI solutions still lacks features to represent data obtained from process-aware systems, for example control flow charts. Current paper is devoted to the information technology for real-time business process monitoring. The represented solution is an extendable software which is based on the lambda architecture and a streaming process discovery technique.

Niniejszy artykuł omawia zagadnienia związane z jakością oraz wartością informacji, a także relacje pomiędzy przepływem informacji a procesem komunikacji. Wskazane przez autorów różne definicje informacji, cechy wpływające na ich jakość oraz bezpośrednie zagrożenia dla procesu decyzyjnego pozwoliły na ukazanie istoty informacji. Potrzeba rzetelnej oceny jakości informacji w systemie jest wynikiem, nie tylko niedoceniania roli informacji, ale także ich nieprawidłowego zrozumienia czy interpretacji. Natomiast, jak uważają autorzy, znaczenie informacji w zapewnieniu sprawności całego systemu jest bezdyskusyjnie kluczowe.
This article discusses issues related to the quality and value of information, as well as relations between the flow of information and communication process. Indicated by the authors different definitions of information, features affecting their quality and direct threat to the decisionmaking process made it possible to present the substance of the information. The need for a reliable assessment of the quality of information in the system is a result, not only underestimate the role of information, but also their incorrect understanding or interpretation. However, as the authors believe, the importance of information in ensuring the efficiency of the entire system is unquestionably the key.

The implementation of specialized service processes is subject to a large range of requirements and obligations, starting with legal requirements, broad expertise, through experience, practice and commitment. This article presents the problems that may arise in the implementation of services whose success depends on the result of the manufacturing subprocess - on the example of dental treatment requiring the design and manufacture of dental prostheses.
