    Opis:
    The necessity and even inevitability of the construction repairinig has been shown. The construction repair as a sustainability development has been considered. In construction activity – in practice “on site” – a lot of rules of thumb are used. Those rules often seems to be far away from a scientific statement, however they are a consequence of scientific deliberation. In this context the standard PN-EN 1504 could be treated as the set of rules for concrete construction repair. However the standard is in many cases not easy, intricated and seems to be unfriendly to the readers. On that basis a premise has been shown to elaborate the comment to the standard: Naprawa i ochrona konstrukcji z betonu. Komentarz do PN-EN 1504; PWN, 2017, by L. Czarnecki, P. Łukowski, A. Garbacz. In this paper author attempted to formulate rules of thumb for concrete construction repairs. The rules has been presented on the backdrop of science engineering relation as the highlights complemented with suitable pictures.

On this premise, a commentary to the standard has been developed: “Naprawa i ochrona konstrukcji z betonu. Komentarz do PN-EN 1504”; PWN, 2017, by L. Czarnecki, P. Łukowski, A. Garbacz. This paper attempts to formulate rules of thumb for repairs of concrete building constructions. The rules have been briefly presented on the backdrop of science-engineering relation and illustrated with relevant pictures.

    Opis:
    Science and engineering intermingle in the area of construction. Engineering works, often of great dimensions and design life cycle of many decades, have to be designed on a scientific basis since the safety of hundreds of users depends on their design. The task of scientific institutions is to define the construction performance within categories that correspond to the contemporary level of knowledge and technology. A construction appraiser who speaks out in a way that ensures unquestionable competence about the performance of elements and buildings (existing and under construction), should be convinced of the scientific basis of his opinions. A comparison of construction sections vs. basic requirements presents an archetype of the science of construction. A matrix of the science of construction reveals its multi-faceted nature; if related to time – the issue of durability has to be considered, and if related to the scale – the complexity. Defining the construction performance in terms of technical features is a constant search for a relationship between the material model and the usability model of a building. The construction industry uses a lot of “rules of thumb”, more than any other sector of technology. In the era of computer-aided design, CAD, and building information modelling (BIM), those rules of thumb remain invaluable verification tools.

    Opis:
    The notion of fundamentalism refers mainly to religious attitudes, worldview, ideological and political tenets. It is an attitude that enforces certain social, or even individual, behaviours, and does not respect the subject-orientation in man. It is often referred to the ways of philosophising in which one tends to grasp the fundamental principles of the existence of the world and of man's action. This manner of philosophising is set in opposition to any kind of free choice and relativism. It cannot be treated as „fundamentalism” if amongst the principles of action there is a principle of freedom, subject-orientation, that is, there is room for human conscience; or, when it is approved that human reason that discovers the principles of the world and action – as being contingent and limited – is not infallible. One should also bear in mind the difference between the practical attitude, including the social way of behaviour, and the theoretical attitude, one that is determined by the methodological and systemic principles of philosophy.
