The standard of Indonesian higher education is not well recognized globally. There are several loopholes which decreases the performance of these higher educational institutions. To expedite the organizational performance, it is needed to increase the quality of education. Therefore, primary aim of this research is to review the role of quality management practices (QMPs) in organizational performance. Additionally, the role of human oriented element and work environment were also examined. Data were gathered from the Indonesian universities. The respondents of the research were based on the educational staff of these universities such as lecturers, assistant professor, associate professors and professors. By applying the area cluster sampling, 400 survey questionnaires were utilized for data collection. Partial least square was used to analyse the collected data. It is found that QMPs have significant positive role in organizational performance. Additionally, human oriented element and work environment as moderating variable enhance the positive relationship between QMPs and organizational performance among Indonesian higher educational institutions.
Standard indonezyjskiego szkolnictwa wyższego nie jest uznawany na całym świecie. Istnieje kilka luk, które zmniejszają wydajność tych szkół wyższych. Aby przyspieszyć działanie organizacji, konieczne jest podniesienie jakości edukacji. Dlatego głównym celem tych badań prezentowanych w tym artykule jest przegląd roli praktyk zarządzania jakością (QMP) w wydajności organizacji. Dodatkowo zbadano rolę elementu zorientowanego na człowieka i środowisko pracy. Dane zebrano z indonezyjskich uniwersytetów. Respondentami badań byli pracownicy dydaktyczni tych uniwersytetów, tacy jak wykładowcy, adiunkci, profesorowie nadzwyczajni i profesorowie. Dzięki zastosowaniu próbkowania klastra obszarowego do gromadzenia danych wykorzystano 400 kwestionariuszy ankiet. Do analizy zebranych danych użyto częściowego najmniejszego kwadratu. Stwierdzono, że QMP odgrywają znaczącą pozytywną rolę w wydajności organizacji. Ponadto element zorientowany na człowieka i środowisko pracy jako zmienna moderująca wzmacniają pozytywny związek między QMP a wynikami organizacyjnymi wśród indonezyjskich szkół wyższych.

Background: Due to the increasing demand on product quality and operation efficiency, supplier quality management has become increasingly important in supporting organizations to achieve the desired excellence. With the rapid globalization happening in these few decades, the business world is experiencing a higher complexity phase. However, there are only a limited number of studies that has been conducted on supplier quality management (SQM) and organization’s competitive advantage (OCA) in the context of multinational corporations (MNC). The purpose of this study is to identify critical elements in supplier quality management as well as testing the significance of supplier quality management in affecting organization’s competitive advantage. Methods: This study employed self-administered questionnaire that has been distributed to 355 respondents and the data is analyzed using Statistical Program for the Social Science (SPSS) software version 23. The population of study is concentrated on multinational corporations in Malaysia. Results: The results revealed that 5 elements have been identified as critical elements for supplier quality management namely Tracking of Cost of Supplier Quality, Supplier Audit, Supplier Scorecard, Close Loop Corrective Action and Engagement of Suppliers in Quality System. Conclusions: The findings of the study show that supplier quality management is found to be significantly affecting organization’s competitive advantage in positive direction. The managerial implications of this study have been discussed as well.
Wstęp: Ze względu na wzrastające wymagania odnośnie jakości wyrobów oraz efektywności operacji, zarządzanie jakością dostawcy staje się coraz istotniejszym elementem wspomagającym uzyskanie przez organizację pożądanej skuteczności. Wraz z gwałtownym wzrostem globalizacji na przestrzeni ostatnich kilku dziesięcioleci, wzrasta również stopień kompleksowości operacji biznesowych. Mimo to istnienie niezbyt duża liczba badań poświęconych zarządzaniu jakością dostawcy (SQM) oraz przewagą konkurencyjną organizacji (OCA) w kontekście międzynarodowych korporacji (MNC). Celem tej pracy jest zidentyfikowanie elementów krytycznych w zarządzaniu jakością dostawcy jak również przetestowanie istotności wpływu zarządzania jakością dostawcy na przewagę konkurencyjną organizacji. Metody: W pracy wykorzystano specjalnie do tego celu przygotowaną ankietę, na którą zebrane odpowiedzi od 35 ankietowanych. Uzyskane w ten sposób dane poddano analizie statycznej przy pomocy programu statystycznego Social Science (SPSS) wersja 23. Populacja poddana badaniom była skoncentrowana w międzynarodowych korporacjach w Malezji. Wyniki: Na podstawie uzyskanych danych zidentyfikowano 5 elementów jako elementy krytyczne dla zarządzania jakości dostawcy: śledzenie kosztu jakości ostawcy, audyt dostawcy, ocena dostawcy, działania korygujące oraz zaangażowanie dostawców w system jakości. Wnioski: Uzyskane w pracy wyniki wskazują, że zarządzanie jakości dostawcy istotnie wpływa w sposób pozytywny na uzyskanie przez organizację przewagi konkurencyjnej.

W 2006 r. przemysł kolejowy dołączył do grona gałęzi przemysłu posiadających specyficzny dla swojej branży międzynarodowy standard jakości IRIS. Celem opracowania standardu był wzrost jakości systemu oraz produkowanych wyrobów w całym łańcuchu dostaw, a także redukcja kosztów związanych z audytami i ocenami. Standard IRIS bazuje na wymaganiach normy ISO 9001, ale znacznie rozszerza wymogi szczególnie istotne dla przemysłu kolejowego i jest standardem obowiązkowym dla zakładów produkujących części w całym łańcuchu dostaw. Uzyskanie certyfikatu IRIS stanowi warunek konieczny do wejścia (lub pozostania) na listach kwalifikowanych dostawców największego taboru kolejowego. W artykule porównano zakresy wymagań standardu IRIS z normami ISO 9001 oraz przedstawiono metodologię oceny systemu.

In the article the results of the researches of the consciousness pro-quality employees on the example the chosen company are presented. The paper contains the theoretical and practical session. The theoretical session presents characterized issue of quality, describes the role of staff in the pro-quality company and describes the typical types of research methods and techniques. The second part presents the results of the researches. The main goal of the analyze was to get information about: - quality management system, which is implemented in this company, - the role of the top management in this system, - the employees engaging in the system, - using the elaborated and accepted standards. The researches was made in the following areas: - the analyze of the main goals of QMS and quality policy, - the advantages of implementing the quality management system in the production company, - the influence of employees in quality assurance of the products, - the trainings for the production employees and managers, - the engaging the top management in quality management, - the motivation of managers in innovation actions. In the researches participated 54 employees representative all companies areas for example: production area, administration area, top and medium level managers, sales managers, technical support and other. The researches was made with using the prepared questionnaire. The results was taken under the consideration. After the analyze the strengths and weaknesses of the functioning the Quality Management System was identified and the improvements actions was proposed.

In many cases the quality of the products depends of the materials which were used to the production process. That's why many companies, which are carry out of the high quality of products, want to have good relations with their vendors. The organizations, which has implemented the quality management system according ISO 9001 standard are obligated to fulfillment the requirements according point 7.4 this standard . purchase process. The elaborating the right method of vendors assessment is the one of the most important tasks of continues improvement in the production company. In the article the analysis and improvement of vendor assessment process based on the example of production company was presented. This company produce the connection elements and cardboard packages. Its polish company which sells products on polish and European market. The analyze was made in the following steps: - the analyze of the actual method of vendors assessment, - the classification of the vendors according to the actual assessment criteria, - the analyze of vendors assessment points, - the identification of the drawbacks of the actual assessment method, - the proposals of the new possibilities (solutions) of the assessment, - the classification of the vendors according to the new assessment criteria, - the analyze of vendors assessment points according to the new method. This method can show the right directions of working in the company. This method can help to: - choose the right types of assessment criteria, - elaborate the points scale, - allocate the adequately importance of criteria, - choose and find the properly assessment method, - can help rightly interpretation of the assessment scores. Although the new method will help the company to identify the best vendors. This vendors will deliver the best quality materials with favorable price.

High quality is organizations’ competitive advantage. It is beneficial to base this on professional approach, and basic concepts and definitions with scientific foundation. The necessary main concepts consist of quality, quality management, quality improvement and quality assurance. Organizations' top management is responsible of the quality management decisions and implementations. The present practical situation is fragmented and the implementations are most often based on the instrumental means of the different methodological schools, which is confusing and detrimental to the understanding and usefulness of the concept of quality management. It is not beneficial to build a special system for quality management by only following the requirements of the general standard. This cannot ensure competitive business advantage. In this article, we present an alternative approach that is a natural practical way to realize quality management as the teleological solution, Quality Integration, in which the general and specific quality concepts, principles and methodology are embedded within the normal business management activities. Our Quality Integration is based on the thinking of organizational learning. Its framework covers both running the current business and improving the overall business performance. This model has been used as the thinking framework in practical organizational cases since 1990’s. As the business circumstances change constantly, the organization must be constantly ready to renew through both small and radical changes. This change also receives resistance, and the development takes place according to a multi-phase process towards the new integration and requires a proper recognition and decisions. Principles of the organizational learning can help organizations in a consistent way. Evaluation of the overall organizational performance is an important quality management practice and should take into account performance enablers (processes) and also the results obtained thereof. In our approach, the evaluation criteria emphasize organizational learning and integration. The external context of the organization has a crucial role in achieving and developing the business objectives. The organization’s strategy can no longer be based on the value chains but on finding ways to alter them radically through value networking. The organization is influenced by the true and all-inclusive reality, which differs from the apparent reality perceived by the senses, and which is only revealed through consciousness. Understanding this reinforces awareness and trust that are important factors also in quality management and quality assurance.

International management standards can provide organizations with challenging opportunities only if they understand the intended aims and features of those standards and apply them creatively and integrated into their business management. For that to happen, the business leaders of the organizations play the key role. For this subject, this discursive article focuses on the ISO 9004 quality management (QM) standard, which is one of the international management standards, which can be applied to all kinds of organizations. In addition to the opportunities, this article discusses difficulties and pitfalls associated with the ISO 9004 standard, and their possible solutions in practical implementations. The authors highlight aspects of how ISO 9004 can be considered as the most challenging standard in the ISO 9000 series of the QM standards. However, many organizations, which have not acknowledged the differences and relationship of the ISO 9004 and ISO 9001 standards, often apply the ISO 9000 standards in inadequate ways and hence have not the ability to exploit the potential opportunities of the standards. Especially, ISO 9004 considers QM from the entire business point of view and aims at the quality of the whole organization. ISO 9004 standard can provide QM guidance to achieve sustained success even in complex, demanding and ever-changing contemporary business environments, including the challenges of the 4th industrial revolution. This article gives ideas and creative theoretical and practical views for the ISO 9004 implementations. The aim is to emphasize that, according to ISO 9004, the organization's identity and its differentiating competitive advantages are the bases for the quality of the organization and its sustained success. In this context, each organization has its own and always existing QM realization, which cannot be separated from business management and which can be continually improved according to the organization's business development strategies and practices. In this respect, the ISO 9004 can be seen as flexible and challenging. Based on the authors’ experience, QM targets can be achieved and developed in the most natural way through the principles and practices of the learning organization. In addition to the ISO 9000 standards, organizations also use other well-known managerial references, including performance excellence models and many various management system standards of the specific disciplines. All these may be seen as sub-domains within the ISO 9004 framework. ISO 9004 also can be used for diverse TQM and sustainability implementations. This article is based on the authors’ long experience in the practical promotion and application of the ISO 9000 standard in different kinds of organizations. The first author of the article has involved in the international drafting process of the ISO 9004 standard-editions since the 1980s. He also was a cowriter of a similar ISO 9004 article about twenty years ago. That article has been publicly available on the Internet, and its over one thousand recent readers evidence a growing interest in this standard. Moreover, after 2000, ISO 9004 standard has been revised twice and rewritten completely recently. Hence, it is well-founded to re-examine this subject again in this article.

The study deals with strategic management of organisations in conformity with quality management system requirements. The aim of the paper is to point out factors with impact on strategic performance of organisations, taking into account strategic concepts of its management. The implementation of a quality management system is a strategic decision that can improve the organization's overall performance. Results of the questionnaire survey focused on identification of industrial enterprises readiness to implement the ISO 9001:2015 are presented in the paper. Survey was also focused on strategic management of the organisations. The survey results recovered implemented strategic tools for performance management in industrial enterprises in the Slovak Republic. There is also described further continued research focussed on correlation between the factors impacting performance of organizations and strategic management tool s in conformity with quality management system.

W artykule przedstawiono najistotniejsze aspekty skutecznego wdrażania poszczególnych systemów, wskazując na potencjalne korzyści praktycznego ich stosowania. Szczególną uwagę zwrócono na system zarządzania bezpieczeństwem i higieną pracy.
Due to the strategic importance of hard coal as a raw material decisive for the energy security of the state, the effective functioning of the mining enterprises producing it is extremely important. Obtaining and maintaining it, while maintaining the requirements of work safety and environmental protection, is a key problem in the management process of these enterprises and their mines. In order to improve and optimize management systems implemented in the enterprise and to ensure co- -operation of individual systems, often an integrated management system is implemented for them. The implementation of integrated management systems is a trend that is increasingly making its presence felt in the industry. The implementation of this type of solution in mining enterprises is desirable and has a significant impact on the possibility to improve planning and implementation of mining production processes. This paper presents the most important aspects of effective implementation of individual systems, indicating the potential benefits of their practical application. Particular attention has been paid to the occupational safety and health management system.

In order to improve and optimize management systems implemented in the enterprise and to ensure co-operation of individual systems, often an integrated management system is implemented in them. The implementation of integrated management systems is a trend that is increasingly marking its presence in the industry. The implementation of this type of solution in mining enterprises is desirable and has a significant impact on the possibility of improving the planning and implementation of mining production processes. Opis:
The authors have made an attempt to enrich the knowledge about the influence of wax pattern washing process and its influence on the quality of the shell prime coat. Two types of wax were investigated: A7Fr/60 and KC2690. A7Fr60 is used for pattern fabrication, while KC2690 is typical sprue wax. The goal of work was to establish wax solubility accuracy in Trisol 60 Plus and Houghto Clean 530 versus time and influence of dipping time to wax samples surface quality. Additionally, after exposition of wax samples, their surface morphology was characterized with the use of laser profilometry and surface roughness measurement. The quality of formed prime coat was established by X-ray tomography. The measurement of wetting angle of the wax by binder was conducted. The results have shown that the main factor which influences the quality of the prime coat is surface wettability rather than wax surface roughness.

This article proposes to use abrasive waterjet cutting (AWJ) for deflashing, deburring and similar finishing operations in casting. The basic requirements concerning the dimensional accuracy and surface texture of cast components are not met if visible surface flaws are detected. The experiments focused on the removal of external flash from elements made of EN-GJL-150 cast iron. The method employed for finishing was abrasive waterjet cutting. The tests were carried out using an APW 2010BB waterjet cutting machine. The form profiles before and after flash removal were determined with a Taylor Hobson PGI 1200 contact profiler. A Nikon AZ100 optical microscope was applied to observe and measure the changes in the flash height and width. The casting surface after finishing was smooth, without characteristic sharp, rough edges that occur in the cutting of objects with a considerable thickness. It should be emphasized that this method does not replace precise cutting operations. Yet, it can be successfully used to finish castings for which lower surface quality is required. An undoubted advantage of waterjet cutting is no effect of high temperature as is the case with plasma, laser or conventional cutting. This process is also easy to automate; one tool is needed to perform different finishing operations in order to obtain the desired dimensions, both internal and external.

Opis:
The aim of this article is to show the use of the analysis of the failure causes and effects as a prevention tool in controlling the quality of a given production process in the company. The scope of the work covers an analysis of a selected process, definition of inconsistencies present in this process, and then the FMEA analysis. In the production company one should implement thinking and actions based on the so-called ‘quality loop’ – it is an interdependence model of the undertaken actions which affect the quality shaping. It is carried out from the possibility for identifying a customer’s requirements through a project, production process, up to the assessment of effective capability for meeting the defined requirements. The application of such an approach enables to take the actions improving the operation of quality management in a systemic way.
