Study aim: Wrestling involves a high risk of transmission in terms of Covid-19 as it is performed using close one-to-one physical contact. This field research study examined wrestlers' approach to and awareness levels of the pandemic. Method: The study sample consists of 214 male wrestlers aged 19.15 ± 1.78 years who participated in the U-23 Turkish National Freestyle Wrestling Championship. The data was collected using a personal information form and the Pandemic Awareness Scale. The statistical analysis consisted of an independent sample t-test, descriptive statistics, and a One-Way ANOVA test for multi-group comparison. Results: Non-smokers and the wrestlers who complied with the precautions had statistically higher awareness score averages (p < 0.05). A statistically significant relationship between awareness scores and variables, including education level, being a national athlete, being diagnosed with Covid-19, losing a first-degree relative to Covid-19, having been vaccinated, and the number of vaccine doses (p > 0.05) was not found. Conclusion: The study findings indicate that the level of awareness of the pandemic is high among non-smokers and wrestlers who complied with the necessary precautions.

Autor dokonuje analizy dwóch filmowych biografii sportowców: Amerykańskiego snu Marka Skrzecza (2017) oraz Piotrowsky’ego Marcina Biegańskiego (premiera: 44. Ińskie Lato Filmowe 2017). Jego zdaniem zarówno pierwszy film, mówiący o młodym wrestlerze z sukcesem realizującym swoje marzenie o stanięciu na ringu, jak i drugi, opowiadający historię boksera odnotowującego same porażki, na różne sposoby i wbrew zamierzeniom autorów ukazują istotny wymiar sportowej biografii – cielesną pracę wykonywaną niezależnie od rynkowej wartości jej produktu (w tym wypadku: porażki lub zwycięstwa).
The author analyses two movie biographies of sportsmen: American Dream by Marek Skrzecz (2017) and Piotrowsky by Marcin Biegański (2017). He argues that both movies – one about a successful wrestler, the other one about an unsuccessful boxer – present an vital aspect of sports biographies as the bodily labor and the inevitable context of its market-value.

The aim of the study was to determine the importance of basic professional activities of a trainer in Olympic martial sports, defining the differences between trainers’ opinions and discovering the main groups of activities characteristic for a given martial sport. Methods and Resources. Opinions of 37 trainers with many years of experience in boxing (n=11), Olympic taekwondo (n=13) and wrestling (n=13) were collected via a questionnaire composed of 20 activities, to which respondents allocated a rank from 1 to 4. Results. The most important activities of an Olympic martial sports were managing the technical, tactical and physical preparation of a trainee. Boxing and taekwondo trainers’ opinions were very alike (rsp=0.78; p<0.001). On the other hand, the greatest discrepancies between views were found in taekwondo and wrestling trainers (rsp=0.01; p>0.05). The most important professional activities created various clusters depending on the specifics of a martial sport. Conclusions. Hierarchization of the basic professional activities of a trainer showed consistency in the most important ones, and discrepancies between those defined as less important. Opinions of the trainers in sports similar in terms of the combat techniques were similar. Three martial sports trainers differed in the way they perceived the importance of directing their trainees during sports competitions. The groups of professional activities of a trainer differ between boxing, taekwondo and wrestling.

Po zakończeniu II wojny światowej (1945) sport zapaśniczy w województwie łódzkim od-rodził się najpierw w stolicy województwa Łodzi. Kolejne sekcje zapaśnicze wznowiły dzia-łalność m.in. w Pabianicach, Zgierzu, Piotrkowie Tryb. i Sieradzu. W zawodach centralnych łódzcy atleci pierwszy raz uczestniczyli w 1946 r. Były to mistrzostwa Polski w stylu klasycz-nym, które odbyły się właśnie w Łodzi. Już wtedy łodzianie wywalczyli pierwsze tytuły mi-strzowskie. Największe sukcesy sportowe były jednak zasługą zapaśników walczących w sty-lu wolnym. To oni w latach 1945–1990 wywalczyli aż 129 medali (w tym 43 złote) na 151 (46 złotych) zdobytych w tym okresie przez wszystkich zapaśników z województwa łódzkie-go. Przedstawiciele stylu wolnego byli także jedynymi reprezentantami okręgu łódzkiego star-tującymi w najważniejszych zawodach sportowych: mistrzostwach Europy, świata i igrzy-skach olimpijskich. Dominującymi sekcjami zapaśniczymi w województwie łódzkim do 1990 r. były: „Budowlani” Łódź, „Boruta” Zgierz i ŁKS. Naj-wyższy poziom sportowy prezentowali: Paweł Kurczewski, Tomasz Busse, Lesław Kropp i Jan Wypiorczyk.
After WW2 was over (1945) wrestling in Łódzkie voivodeship revived first in its capital, the city of Łódź, and then other wrestling sections in Pabianice, Zgierz, Piotrków Trybunalski and Sieradz followed. The athletes of Łódź participated in the national competitions in 1946. It was the classic style championships in Lodz. It was then when the Łódź wrestlers won their first champion titles. The biggest success, however, was won by the free style athletes. It is them who in 1945–1999 won 129 medals (43 gold ones) out of 151 (46 gold ones) won by all the wrestlers from Łódzkie voivodeship. Free style athletes were also the only representatives in the most important competitions, like European championships, world championships and the Olympics. The most dominant sections, among others until 1990, were “Budowlani” Łódź, “Boruta” Zgierz and ŁKS. The highest athletic level was represented by Paweł Kurczewski, Tomasz Busse, Lesław Kropp and Jan Wypiorczyk.

The author analyzing Filip Bajon’s film Aria for an Athlete focuses on the relationship between opera and circus, paying attention primarily to their interrelationship and not the differences. According to the author, the category common to both shows is kitsch. Any kind of art has in its history phase of kitsch, yet what is derived from the kitsch can become the beginning of art. While describing the coexistence of opera and circus, author makes a study of three movie characters: Władysław Góralewicz, clown Max and tenor Babtisto Messalini. In her opinion, these representatives of respectively the world of circus or the opera, have a number of attributes that allow to assign them the culture which is alien to them. Max, circus clown, elevates kitsch, but also shows a duality of nature of both commedia dell’arte and film, Góralewicz, artist-wrestler rooted in the circus, longs for the opera, singer Messalini, whose profession is to create a culture, brings to life kitsch.

Opis:
Wrestling became an interest in Poland only at the end of the 19th century. However, in the Olsztyn Province, among other reasons due to historical conditions, this was a much later development. The first propaganda fights took place only in 1950. Shortly afterwards, the national team of the Olsztyn voivodeship participated in the nationwide tournament ‘For the City Cup’. However, a professional section was only established seven years later. Then, Lt. Zenon Rydziński initiated the training process at RKS “Budowlani” Olsztyn. It resulted in subsequent numerous sports successes. In 1964, thanks to the efficiency of activists from the People’s Sports Teams, young people from the Giżycko province also wrestled. The most die-hard players then set up further sections in the cities they came from

The article is devoted to the study of asymmetry in physical development of arm wrestling athletes at the stage of sports perfection. It presents the results of a pedagogical experiment with the use of static motor-cognitive tests and stabilometry in the detection of asymmetry and proves the effectiveness of the developed system of physical training, based on the achieved improvements of the indicators of equilibrium function of arm wrestlers compared to the standard training system.
Artykuł poświęcony jest badaniu asymetrii w rozwoju fizycznym zawodników siłujących się na rękę. Przedstawiono w nim wyniki eksperymentu pedagogicznego, w którym użyto testów statycznego rozpoznania ruchowego oraz stabilometrii w diagnozowaniu asymetrii i udowodniono efektywność opracowanego układu ćwiczeń fizycznych, opartego na progresie wskaźników funkcji równowagi zawodników siłujących się na rękę, w porównaniu do wyników osiągniętych przy pomocy standardowego systemu treningowego.

The aim of the study was to investigate the effect of different compression modalities as to recovery enhancement on some biomarkers in wrestlers. Serum creatinine, lactic acid and glucose level were tested in elite wrestlers before a match-up, 3 minutes post-match up and 19 minutes after applying recovery compression model. The results showed insignificant differences between pre-post 3-minutes tests among research groups due to sample equality, 3-minutes and 19-minutes post match up tests showed efficacy of compression technique in enhancing recovery in sake of 160/20 mmHg compression modality with enhancement percentage of 16.614% for serum creatinine, 43.214% for lactic acid and 22.505% for glucose level. The compression band with 160/20 mmHg exceeds recovery after match-up.

Opisując dzieje tego pierwszego klubu zapaśniczego na Śląsku Opolskim, autor na początku przedstawił sport w środowisku wiejskim na ziemi opolskiej po zakończeniu II wojny światowej. Okres ten był niezwykle trudnym, wynikającym między innymi z odziedziczonej traumy po działaniach wojennych, jak również niepewności jutra tych ziem, które po 1945 r. znalazły się pod administracją polską. Od samego początku młodzież wiejska garnęła się do uprawiania sportu. Powojenny wyż demograficzny, wielki zapał lokalnych działaczy, jak również ochota i ciekawość samej młodzieży spowodowały, że ten projekt, mający na celu uczestnictwo we wszelkiego rodzaju formach aktywności fizycznej, udało się zrealizować. W Brzeźnicy natomiast dyscypliną wiodącą stały się zapasy. Klub od samego początku, dzięki konsekwencji w działaniu, systematycznie się rozwijał. Warto podkreślić, że przez cały okres działalności sprawą niezwykle ważną dla klubu było szkolenie dzieci i młodzieży. Należy przypomnieć, że przez cztery lata funkcjonowania, a było to w latach 1971-1975, będąc jeszcze w starych granicach administracyjnych województwa opolskiego, klub otrzymywał znaczące wsparcie finansowe od lokalnego sponsora, którym było Państwowe Gospodarstwo Rolne w Kietrzu.
By describing the history of the first wrestling club in the Opole Silesia, the author started from presentation of the sport in the rural areas in the Opole area after the 2nd World War. The period was dramatically difficult especially given the inherited trauma of war operations and uncertainty about the future of the land which after 1945 came under Polish administration. From the very beginning, the youth in the rural areas became very much attracted to sporting activities. The post-war population boom, great enthusiasm of local activists and eagerness and curiosity of the very youth caused that the project which was aimed at promoting participation in different kinds of physical activity, became a success. In Brzeźnica, wrestling became the leading discipline. From the very beginning the Club, thanks to determination of its activists, developed gradually. It is worth stressing that during the whole period of its operations the priority of the Club was to train children and the youth. It is worth reminding that during the four years of operations, i.e. years 1971-1975, at that time within the administrative limits of the Opolskie Province, the Club received significant financial support from a local sponsor – State Agricultural Enterprise in Kietrz.

The purpose of this publication is the interpretation of the song of Jacek Kaczmarski titledJacob wrestling with the angel which shows the speci city of the poet’s view of the biblical theme. In the rst part of the article, I discuss the gure of the Patriarch Jacob in the Bible and culture. Then I present the patriarch’s wrestling with an unknown opponent as it is shown in Jewish and Christian commentaries. In the interpretation of Kaczmarski’s song, I draw attention to the di eren- ces and similarities with the Scriptures and with Jewish and Christian interpretations. Kaczmarski creatively reinterprets the biblical theme. The song does not follow Jewish interpretations which see the unknown opponent as a guardian angel of Esau, archangel Michael or Satan. Nor does it follow Christian interpretations (psychological, allegorical, spiritual, mystical). The poem is close to these comments (Jewish and Christian), which in the wrestling opponent see God in the form of an angel and a shepherd. Kaczmarski’s interpretation is unique, for in his poem the main purpose of the struggle is freedom – an overriding value in human life. The winner turns out to be a crippled Jacob. The weak man wins with God because he dared to ght for freedom.

There was a very strong connection between the castle's operation (here on the border with the Duchy of Masovia), the infrastructure in that economic and military castle complex, its reserves and the role it played in the defense system of the Teutonic Order in Prussia and its economic potential resulting from the economic and conglomerate infrastructure and stored any stock.
Kompleksy zamkowe, zarówno te nad granicą z Mazowszem, jak i inne, położone w głębi państwa krzyżackiego w Prusach, były przede wszystkim obiektami o charakterze obronnym, pełniły jednak również rolę administracyjną, gospodarczą, centrów produkcji, przetwórstwa i przechowalnictwa spożywczego. Pełniły jednocześnie rolę magazynów militariów dla miejscowych członków konwentów (rycerzy) oraz zbrojowni z uzbrojeniem interwencyjnym dla wojsk, które mogłyby przybyć z innych pobliskich zamków (lub dla wojsk zaciężnych) i używać tychże zapasów do dalszego prowadzenia działań wojennych. Istniał bardzo duży związek pomiędzy usytuowaniem zamku (tu na granicy z księstwem mazowieckim), infrastrukturą, w tym gospodarczo-militarną kompleksu zamkowego, jego zapasami oraz rolą, jaką pełnił w systemie obronnym państwa zakonu krzyżackiego w Prusach i jego potencjałem gospodarczym, wynikającym z infrastruktury gospodarczej i zgromadzonych oraz przechowywanych w nim wszelkich zapasów.

Во время первого подвига юродства Андрей вынужден идти бороться с дьяволом. Некий красивый юноша советует Андрею схватить соперника «крестообразно», «συμπλάκηθι αὐτῷ σταυροειδῶς». Это место имеет довольно много разночтений в различных рукописных редакциях «Жития Андрея Юродивого», одна из которых была переведена на древнерусский язык и нашла отражение в русской иконографии. Вопрос, сокрушил ли Андрей дьявола в этом поединке знаменем креста или борцовским приемом, остается дискуссионным.
During the first encounter with the devil Andrew has to wrestle with him. A beautiful young man advises Andrew to grapple his adversary crosswise «συμπλάκηθι αὐτῷ σταυροειδῶς». This passage has a lot of variant readings in different editions of the text. One of the editions was translated into Old Russian and its reading of the combat scene was illustrated in Russian icons. The question whether Andrew defeated the devil by the sign of cross or by a grappling technique, is still disputable.

Opis:
The Wrestler is a film with many plot lines and is worthy of comprehensive analysis. Deep layers of hidden meaning are gradually uncovered for the audience as the hero’s perspective is adopted and life is seen through that prism. The author analyses the film in reference to popular culture and consumption. He seeks signs connected to patterns of consumer culture and displays the mechanisms by which the standardization of life, global uniformity and the terror of corporeality subjugate the individual. Finally, he looks at Aronofsky’s film from the perspective of the protagonist’s wanderings, of rites of passage, ritual process and the folk spectacle, which is a sort of game. The wrestler of the title role, played with bravura by Mickey Rourke, is in essence a tragic hero. We watch as he remembers his past fame, attempts to avoid further downfall, and finally, struggles for the right freely to choose his own fate (even though that choice means death) and to liberate himself from the shackles of the normative- -consumer cultural system. Aronofsky’s film belongs to the narrative tradition that tackles the great mythological subjects, such as the battle between good and evil, or between coercion and freedom.
